Chapter 9: Up and At 'Em
Silver wiped her brow, and finished the last letter of the algorithm. She looked at the picture of Chuck that had been pinned to her monitor. If she'd stopped and taken the time to look, maybe she would have realised sooner she was never alone. The bird sniffed and let out a hollow laugh. "I did it, Chuck. But where are you?"
It had been several hours since Chuck was last in the workshop, or at least, that was how Silver had perceived it. She hit the enter key, and watched as the regulator started pulsing blue and white. Hopefully, if she'd gotten her Python right, everything would happen the way it was meant to.
She looked out of the window for the umpteenth time, and thought she saw a dash of yellow. In shock, she slammed her face to the window, and narrowed her eyes. Sadly, it was just a kid on a slingshot holding a massive kart painted that colour.
Her head was screaming at her to try to find him, but it could wait a minute. If he came back, Silver certainly didn't want to disappoint.
The regulator started glowing brighter and brighter until a hologram popped up from the blue circle within it. Written in a block font were the words, "Start broadcast?" Underneath lay a yes and no option, alongside a power save mode. Silver clicked on the yes, and waited as all the icons for her friends popped up.
One set had a box next to it, saying, "Recall to Start Position (RoS14)."
"Hmm… Well, there's nothing left to lose, so…"
Another option came up. "Are you sure?"
"Never been more sure."
She looked outside one last time and finally saw Chuck coming towards her house. She felt happy, extremely happy, but she knew she had to finish off what she'd been working on.
So, with no worries at all, she clicked "Yes" and waited for what was to come…
