Hope We Can Again

Ms. Keane looked around, and she finally sat down on the couch, with Miss Bellum sitting right beside her. "Phew, what a day, I thought I'd never get home."
"I was going to say the exact same thing," Miss Bellum replied, reaching out from the coffee table in front of them, and handed out a hot mug of peppermint tea for Ms. Keane. "How are you?"
"Oh, thank you," Ms. Keane said, taking the mug of tea, and flashing Miss Bellum a small smile. "I'm doing alright, just busy with teaching the kids, grading their homework, and writing out lesson plans."
Miss Bellum sighed and got her own mug of tea, taking a sip, and then furrowing her brow for a moment. "I know what you mean. Being the secretary for the mayor is always busy work, no matter what happens."
Ms. Keane nodded, starting to feel goosebumps being this close to Miss Bellum. She knew she could trust her, and in ways that mattered most to her. "I'm glad that you understand."
"And I'm glad that you understand me too." Miss Bellum responded, taking another sip before setting her mug down on the table.
"You know, we should do this more often," Ms. Keane replied, setting her own mug down. She then shifted herself close to Miss Bellum, resting her head on the taller woman's shoulder. "Spend time together, and it doesn't always have to be after work, you know?"
"That's a great idea," Miss Bellum said, smiling. "I'll take note of that."
Ms. Keane smiled back.
