Chapter 34: Downtown Battle/Watching Closely

People ran around fearfully in Downtown Angel Grove's streets. They screamed and cried as Goldar and Tigton stomped around. The duo fired lightning from their eyes. The bolts struck a lamppost. It fell down, blocking a large crowd's path. They turned in another direction. Goldar and Tigton tossed fireballs at the pavement.

The fireballs hit the pavement and exploded on impact. Debris flew into the air as the people went faster. They covered themselves with their arms to shield themselves from it. They broke off in different directions. Their screaming and crying became louder. Goldar and Tigton laughed evilly while moving in between two buildings.

"Run away, you pathetic humans!" Goldar shouted.

"You have no place to hide!" Tigton said with a smirk.

Goldar curled his hand into a fist. "Let's blast some vehicles!"

Tigton gave a sharp nod. "Yes."

Goldar and Tigton shot lightning from their fingertips at three cars. It struck them, making them explode into huge fireballs. The flames leapt high into the air. The Power Rangers teleported into the scene. They landed on the sidewalk. They saw people running all over the place.

"Shit! What a mess!" Jason blurted out irritatingly.

"Goldar and Tigton have been busy since we were on Isla Nublar," Trini commented seriously. "If only—"

Tommy, Kim, Jason, Trini, Billy, and Zack ducked when two fireballs flew their way. They rose to their full height. They looked over their shoulders, seeing the fireballs strike the pavement and send debris into the air. They looked up at Goldar and Tigton, whom both laughed aloud.

"It's nice to see you, Power Rangers!" Goldar shouted in a fierce voice.

"You are a little late to the party," Tigton added.

Goldar growled. "How about a game of 'Being Grabbed by a Giant Hand'?"

Goldar reached downward with an outstretched hand. The Rangers rolled out of the way. He ended up grabbing a metal bench. He growled frustratingly and tossed it over his shoulder. It landed on top of a car, smashing its roof in. Its alarm started blaring. They managed to get to their feet.

"We better call the zords!" Jason shouted.

"Right, Jase!" Tommy responded eagerly.

The team looked toward the sky. They reached for it, their faces showing much determination and ferocity.

"We need Thunderzord Power now!" the Rangers called.

The Thunderzords and Tigerzord arrived on the scene. Everyone leapt into his or her respective cockpits.

"Log on!" Jason called.

"Zack here. Ready to rock and roll!" Zack shouted.

"Billy! All systems go!" Billy said.

"Trini! Set for action!" Trini added.

"Let's kick some monster ass!" Kim blurted out.

"You said it!" Tommy said.

"Initiate Thunder Megazord sequence!" Jason commanded fiercely.

"Tigerzord, convert to warrior mode now!" Tommy summoned and inserted Saba into his slot.

The Red Dragon, Firebird, Griffin, Unicorn, and Lion came together to form the Thunder Megazord. The Tigerzord moved to its warrior form. It held its sword high.

"Thunder Megazord, power up!" Jason, Trini, Kim, Billy, and Zack called.

"It's to take care of business!" Tommy added.

"You think you can scare us with your tin cans? You're wrong," Tigton growled in anger.

Tommy pointed his finger at the duo. "The only tin cans I see are the ones in your heads!"

Goldar snarled. "Shut up, and fight us!"

Goldar and Tigton rushed toward the Thunder Megazord and the Tigerzord. So did their enemies with them. The Tigerzord swung its sword and scored a hit in Tigton's shoulder. It repeated its action twice in his side. He blocked its next swing with his arm. He gave it two lefts and a right. He kicked it in the side before delivering a punch to the face.

The Tigerzord stumbled somewhat. It recovered quickly to see Tigton rushing his fist forward a snarl. It blocked him with its sword. It jabbed the hilt into the back of its head. It delivered an uppercut to the nose and a backhand to the cheek. Tigton fell down, but he got right back up. He curled his hands into fists. The streets were clear of any people.

"Now, you've really made me mad!" Tigton screeched. "Yes, you have!"

Tigton charged his fists with energy and sent it toward the Tigerzord. He laughed in glee when sparks exploded from its body. He threw more energy at it. It got hit in the head and shoulders. More sparks came from it. He laughed in much delight.

"Now, that's what I call a fiery display!" Tigton said. "Yep, yep, yep."

The Thunder Megazord held up its arm to keep Goldar from backhanding it. It punched him with one fist, followed by the other. It alternated between them as if it were a maniac. It headed butted him very hard. He stumbled without falling. He tossed his sword to his other hand. He walked forward three paces. He curled his lips into a snarl.

"Is that all you've got, Rangers?" Goldar asked and flared his nostrils.

"There's plenty more where that came from, Goldar!" Trini yelled in determination.

Zack hissed ferociously. "Yeah!"

The Thunder Megazord fired its eye beams at Goldar. They struck him in the chest. It aimed for the same area. He vanquished the blasts with lightning fired from his hand. He made three swings at it with his sword. He got a hit each time. He hit it with a bolt of lightning from his finger. Jason, Trini, Billy, Zack, and Kim screamed at the cockpit exploding with sparks.

"Shit! That did some damage!" Billy said.

Goldar slammed the back of his fist against his target's chest. This forced it back. He performed an uppercut to its neck. He went for the same area, only for his opponent to block him by holding up its fist. It shoved him away. It went toward him, but it stopped in its tracks when he threw a fireball at it. He tossed two more fireballs at it. They struck in the chest.

Goldar jumped through the air. He struck the Thunder Megazord in the head with his fist. He swung his sword repeatedly after landing. He managed to get four hits on it. He headbutted it hard before grabbing its arm. He twirled it around twice and let go of it. It stumbled sideways, crashing into a building and destroying it. It barely got its footing back. It looked up to see him coming at it with a dropkick. He hit it very hard. They resumed their fight after it regained its bearings.

The Tigerzord swung its sword at Tigton, who deflected it with a swing of his hand. He jumped back when it made a swing for his head. It jammed the hilt into the back of his neck. He formed a fireball in his hand and tossed it at his opponent. It held up its arm, causing the fireball to strike it. It was forced back a bit. He charged at it, ramming his head into its chest. It stumbled backward, barely regaining its footing.

"You seem to be a little wobbly, White Ranger," Tigton commented with a smirk.

"No way, Mr. Whiskers," Tommy taunted and grabbed a glass ball from behind him. He inserted it into the cannon. "Have a little taste of this!"

The Tigerzord held out its arms and fired three fireballs from its chest. They struck the giant tiger in the chest and stomach. It made its way toward him. He stopped him in its tracks by kicking it in the face. He shot an energy wave from his hand at it, hitting it directly in the chest. He charged at it while revving up his hands with lightning. He grabbed it, sending the lightning into it. Tommy screamed in pain.

"Electrifying, isn't it?" Tigton cackled.

Just then, something hit the giant tiger in the side. This stopped his assault on the Tigerzord. He turned to see the Thunder Megazord holding its Thunder Saber high.

"Lucky shot!" Tigton taunted. "That still won't stop me."

Tigton tossed an energy ball at the Thunder Megazord. It held up its saber, summoning an energy tornado. It sent that toward the ball, vaporizing it. He gasped in much shock. It approached its opponent. It swung its saber at him, getting him in the shoulder. He received another hit in the same area. It fired its eye beams. He absorbed it into his hand. He threw it back at his prey, laughing as it was hit in the side.

Tigton jumped upward with a snarl. He rushed his fists forward while heading for the Thunder Megazord. He hit it as he landed. He landed two rights and a left on it. He grabbed it, letting out a loud growl. He charged his hands with lightning. He sent it into his target. This made it spark badly. The Tigerzord sneaked up behind her and pulled him off it. He shoved it off him. He growled when it didn't fall down.

"Can't you ever go down, White Ranger?" Tigton leered.

"I'll never go down!" Tommy shouted defiantly.

"You're very brave. Then again, shouldn't you always be aware of your surroundings?" Tigton asked and smirked.

Without warning, Goldar grabbed the Tigerzord from behind. He wrapped his arms around it. He tightened his grip on it. He threw it as hard he could. It went flying, landing on the street. It slid up the street before coming to a stop next to a pile of cars. It rolled out of the way when he attempted to step on it. He growled in much frustration. It jumped up and aimed a swing of its sword at its enemy's head.

Goldar caught the sword in his hand. He pulled it out of the Tigerzord's. He threw it over his shoulder. It scored a punch to the face. It slammed the back of its fist on the chest. He backhanded it hard. This caused it to fall down. He revved his sword up with lightning. He sent into it, laughing evilly. Tommy emitted a painful cry. Sparks exploded from the console.

Suddenly, the Thunder Megazord ambushed the golden monkey from the side. It wrestled him away from its comrade. He shoved it off. He turned around with a growl. He swung his sword at its head. It held up its arm to block it. It jerked it downward. This knocked his sword out of his hand. He snarled and tried to rush his forward. It punched him in between the eyes. It performed two uppercuts to his chest before doing a headbutt.

The Thunder Megazord was about to fire its eye beams when Tigton flipped through the air and dropkicked it in the chest. The giant tiger landed with a light touch on the ground. He filled his hands with lightning. He tossed it at his target. It sparked from many parts of its body. Jason, Trini, Kim, Billy, and Zack cried out as the cockpit blew up. He clapped in gleefulness while stepping forward.

"Talk about having so much fun!" Tigton cheered. "Yep, yep, yep!"

Tigton made his way toward the Thunder Megazord. He saw the Tigerzord coming at him. It had its sword aiming for his head. He caught it in his hands. He jerked it out of its quarry's. He tossed it over his shoulder and punched his fist into his hand. It tried to punch him, but he rolled out of the way. He jumped up with a hiss. He fired energy from his hands. It was struck in the forehead and stomach.

The Tigerzord shot its eye beams at Tigton. He jumped upward, causing them to miss. He landed while punching it in the face. He blocked a swing from its arm and took hold of it. He twirled it around three times before letting go. It tripped and fell on a building, demolishing it. He scratched the dirt with his feet before punching his fist into his hand.

Tigton went toward its prey as it struggled to stand. The Thunder Megazord raced at him. It swung its saber, as it got closer to him. He stopped it with a hard backhand to its face. It held up its weapon. It summoned an energy toward, sending it toward him. He was hit, but he wasn't fazed very much. He blew fire from his mouth. He managed to score hits in the chest, stomach, and shoulders.

Tigton punched the Thunder Megazord, knocking it back. It threw another energy tornado at him, but the tiger vanquished it with his eye beams. He gave it a headbutt after going to it. The Tigerzord stopped it with uppercuts to the chests. Unfortunately, it was ambushed by Goldar. Goldar swung his sword at it multiple times. He got a hit on it with each one. He pushed it back toward the Thunder Megazord. Tigton joined his friend's side.

"Have a taste of this!" Tigton hissed.

The duo fired lightning at the Thunder Megazord and the Tigerzord. Their targets exploded with many sparks. The Rangers screamed as their cockpits sparked badly. Goldar and Tigton laughed evilly.

"That was so much fun!" Tigton said excitedly.

"Yes!" Goldar agreed. "Let's do it again!"

Tigton growled. "For sure!"

Goldar and Tigton fired another round of lightning at their targets, which hit them hard. They rushed toward them, roaring loudly.

Zedd beamed his visor at Earth as he stood on the Lunar Palace's balcony. He could see Goldar punching the Thunder Megazord in the chest and swinging his sword twice to scores hits in its shoulder and arm. Scorpina, Squatt, and Baboo stood next to him. They heard him chuckle. Their emperor moved his hand down his staff.

"Goldar is giving the Thunder Megazord a bad beating," Zedd announced in great glee.

"That is wonderful, my lord!" Scorpina said in excitement.

"Talk about karma kicking the asses of the Power Punks," Baboo added while clapping multiple times.

"Indeed!" Squatt said, jumping into the air and landing on his butt. "Ouch again."

"Talk about being quite clumsy," Scorpina said with a snicker.

"Yep," Baboo agreed, giving a sharp nod.

Zedd growled as he watched Tigton give the Tigerzord a left and a right. He chuckled when the tiger gave the Thunderzord three punches to the stomach and two kicks to the chest. Squatt rose to his feet. He rubbed his butt, a groan escaping his lips.

"Tigton just gave the Tigerzord a good pummeling," Zedd commented and switched off his visor.

"Yes!" Scorpina said while pumping her fist.

"If you ask me, Tommy deserves the most karma of all the Power Rangers," Baboo suggested.

"He sure does," Squatt said, nodding rapidly.

"Oh, I agree," Zedd said as he looked at his troops. "He has been a constant thorn in my side since he appeared as the White Ranger." He curled his hand into a fist. "The most recent giant battle saw Goldar and Scorpina get pummeled by the Tigerzord, though they had the upper hand against it and the Thunder Megazord for a short time."

Scorpina hissed in much ferocity. "That fucking zord is more powerful than any other we have faced."

"No denying that. The Megatigerzord destroyed Scarlet Sentinel, AC, and DC in one quick swoop. It made me realize we would have a challenge on our hands," Zedd said, growling softly.

"It doesn't matter. I live for challenges," Scorpina said while grabbing her sword with both hands.

Zedd chuckled. "I do too. Some worlds were challenging for me to conquer. Others were a cinch as Earthlings say."

"If I didn't know better, I'd say you are getting the hang of saying common Earthling quotes," Squatt said.

Baboo nodded fast. "You sure are, my master."

"I have to admit the quotes are a little strange, but they do have deep meaning," Zedd commented truthfully.

Squatt rubbed his neck. "Unfortunately, the truth hurts sometimes."

Zedd walked down the stairs. He went toward his chair in which he stopped near it. Scorpina, Squatt, and Baboo came to his side. The dimwitted duo started shaking a little bit.

"I never thought Zordon would create White Ranger powers and choose Tommy to wield them," Zedd admitted.

"Moreover, we had no idea he was doing this!" Scorpina blurted out annoyingly.

"Well, no one can know everything," Baboo commented with a shrug.

"Fair point," Scorpina agreed.

"I can see why Zordon chose Tommy to be his White Ranger. Tommy was always willing to sacrifice himself on the battlefield," Squatt pointed out while placing his hands on his temples.

"It makes me sick," Scorpina said, pointing her finger down her throat and making gagging sounds. "I'd make myself throw up if I could right now."

"Don't do that!" Squatt said with a fast shake of his head. "I don't want to see vomit on the floor."

"Me neither," Baboo agreed, shuddering in disgust. He placed his hands on his temples. "I threw up on the floor once. Rita made me clean it up, despite I was weak from getting sick."

"She made me join you. She wanted it cleaned up quickly," Squatt added and acted as if he were about to throw up. "I felt like I was about to throw up myself."

"Please, stop talking about that. You are making me sick," Zedd snapped in much irritation.

"Sorry," Squatt and Baboo said sheepishly.

Zedd went to the stairs and up them. He approached the railing and grabbed it rather tightly. He emitted a low yet determined growl.

"You won't get out of my grasp this time, Power Rangers. Goldar and Tigton will finish you," Zedd hissed in much ferocity. His visor flashed red as he stared at Earth.

John, Lex, Tim, Alan, Ellie, Ian, and Alpha observed Goldar punching the Tigerzord in the chest on the Command Center's Viewing Globe. They saw him swing his sword twice and score hits in the shoulder and stomach. They watched Tigton form fireballs in his hands and toss them at the Thunder Megazord in which he got hits to the chest.

"Ay-yi-yi-yi! The Power Rangers aren't faring very well against Goldar and Tigton," Alpha cried.

"I never thought I'd see the team battle monsters at all," Tim whispered, his body shaking.

"Me neither," Lex agreed.

"Let's be thankful we are in a safe place," John said while placing his other hand on top of his cane. "Horrible damage tends to result from these battles, especially in downtown."

"Your grandfather has a point, kids," Alan said honestly.

"Damage is one thing the Rangers can't always avoid," Zordon said seriously. "They have been very lucky no deaths have been reported from monster attacks in the year they have fought against evil."

"Luck runs out eventually," Ian mumbled.

"Seriously," Ellie agreed.

The survivors went to Zordon. Alpha came up beside Tim, who looked at him. He raised his arms above his head. Tim touched the robot's shoulder, causing him to put them at his sides.

"It stinks being helpless to do anything about this situation, Zordon," Alan commented frustratingly.

"I wish we could help them," Ellie added.

"It is understandable you are all frustrated, but we must not lose hope the Rangers will make it through this battle," Zordon responded in a gentle way.

Alpha put his hands together. "They've been in battles worse than this one."

"Many monsters come to mind. Each one had its own unique ability for fighting the team. No two monsters are ever alike. They may have the same ability, but they never had the same fighting strategy," Zordon explained.

"Kind of like humans having their own abilities and strategies for completing tasks," Tim said, holding up a finger.

Alpha nodded in agreement. "Exactly, Timmy. There is one thing the monsters have in common. It is their arrogance. They become overconfident when they beat the Rangers and their zords down. This allows the team to take advantage and turn it against them. They are able to defeat them."

"The most common flaw that villains had in movies and shows was gloating about their crimes. They were so glad to have the heroes in their grasp that they couldn't help themselves," Lex explained.

"The heroes used that against them to get the upper hand," Tim said, smirking widely.

Lex giggled. "It was always fun to see the heroes kick the villains' butts."

Tim gave a thumbs-up. "Totally."

John, Lex, Tim, Alan, Ellie, Ian, and Alpha turned back to the Viewing Globe. They cringed as Goldar and Tigton tossed fireballs at the Thunder Megazord and Tigerzord. Sparkles exploded from the latter's bodies. They stumbled backward a bit.

"We were all very lucky to escape that island when we did. Goldar and Tigton would have caused even worse damage," John whispered, fear lining his voice.

"Grandpa, you are doing the right thing in pooling your resources to keep Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna isolated. Dinosaurs do not need our help to survive," Tim said.

"It still stinks we won't likely see Rexy, Mia, Penny, and Princess again," Lex mumbled, a big frown forming on her face.

"The second incident on Isla Nublar did make me appreciate dinosaurs a bit more," Alan said, smiling lightly.

Ellie wrapped her arm around his. "We got to see theropods could be very friendly when they are not hungry."

"That was especially true for Penny and Princess. Like John said, they hated serving the Big One. She was such a bully to them. They survived because they went their own way instead of following her, Randy, and Kim," Ian explained, chuckling to himself.

"I hate to say it, but karma got the Big One, Randy, and Kim," John commented bluntly.

"No one blames you for feeling that way, Grandpa," Lex said, sympathy showing in her voice.

Alan exhaled. "Nope."

The survivors and Alpha winced as Goldar and Tigton gave the Thunder Megazord and the Tigerzord multiple punches to their chests. They swallowed hard at their delivering kicks to their targets' stomachs.
