THE ATTIC-(PART 5)

The old Grandfather clock in the attic struck 12:00, snapping Bobby's thoughts back to the real world. After reading the first eight chapters over the last two days, he was thrilled the story of Kumandra didn't have any chapters that slowed the story down. He didn't like movies or TV-shows in which boring moments killed the interest in them, much less in books. He got enough of that in real life as it was. Why watch or read about it? Besides, he couldn't stand the kind of movies and TV-shows that had their slow moments. That was actually the real reason why he didn't like to read because the books he had been assigned to read did just that. But this book had something the other books he had read didn't. It was exciting, epic, mysterious and suspenseful. One that made him feel like he was watching a movie, rather than reading a book. Books like this were adventerous. Books like this made the reader's imagination run wild. If there was one thing he was good at--very likely the only thing--was imagining things so clearly that he could see and hear them in his head. Whenever his mother told or read him stories when he was little--well, more little anyway--he sometimes forgot everything around him and awoke as if he had dreamed the whole thing. It was only when the story had reached the end that he checked back into reality. And this book was just like the storybooks his Mom would read to him at bed-time. Since he'd started reading it, he had heard the voices of not only Princess Raya and her father, Chief Benja, but also the voices of Ezra, Sayaka and every other single character that had spoken throughout the story. And he almost forgot he was reading a book, he felt more like he was watching a movie on TV.

It was now lunch time and the other kids were most likely now all in the cafeteria. Today's meal consisted entirely of stale, half-cooked and deformed food, like always. The only things that were good were the drinks. Bobby was glad to be up here in the attic where he could read. This was just the right book for him.

He then thought about what Utayo had said to Raya and the others regarding the Kumandra book.

"Kumandra: The book of our world."

"It is not here in our world. You will soon learn why it isn't."

"Kumandra." Bobby wispered. "I wonder if this is..." He said as he looked at the book. "Nah. It couldn't be. Or could it? Nah." He said dismissing his theory. That was the craziest theory he had ever had. What were the odds of this book being the same book Utayo mentioned?

Bobby then turned back into the story. "Nine days later." He read silently. "In the morning--or at least what was assumed to be morning, as it was impossible to tell whether it was day or night with the dark purple/black clouds covering the sky--Ezra, Sayaka and Utayo helped Raya prepare for her trip around the world to recover the remaining Dragon gem pieces, as well as find the other four legendary guardians of Kumandra."
