Black Velvetopia Part 2
Nigel was currently in El Toro's mental world, helping him build his card tower to reach his beloved. To do this he needed to find the four queens to make sure the card tower can't be blown apart by the rampaging Bullmon which Nigel must avoid, but to get them Nigel has to battle the four luchador guardians who protect the cards.
Nigel was already halfway done as he makes his way through the back streets to avid the main street Bullmon runs down. Along the way he finds another Dog painter salesman, this one was a white dog with a black nose and red coller. He was known as Brian Griffin
Nigel thinking said "El Toro sent me. You know, the famous painter? How about a discount?"
"Famous painter? El Toro?" Brian said in disbelief and said "Pfft! Yeah right!"
"Pfft, you don't give discounts? or pfft, you don't think he's famous?" Nigel asked confused.
"Look, I'm sorry, but eating lunch every day in the art teacher's room does not make you a famous painter." Brian told him. "Anyway, he only did that to hide out from the school mask wrestling team."
"Hey, there's no shame in hiding from masked wrestlers." Nigel told Brian, feeling he is getting some insight to the source of this mental world's problems "They're trouble. Especially the wild animal type."
"Oh, what do you mean wild animal? Like dogs, huh?" Brian asked offended "Oh, you got a problem with me now?"
"No, I just meant masked wrestlers can be tough. I didn't mean you." Nigel told him.
"Oh, you don't think I'm tough now?" Brian said to that. "Why because I'm a White Labrador Retriever. Hey, we can't all be Hounds or Great Danes, you know!"
"Has El Toro always had a problem with masked wrestlers?" Nigel asked getting back on topic.
"No way. In fact, he used to be the captain of his high school masked wrestling team!" Brian explains shaking his head. "He took them all the way to the state semi-finals one year, and then he…he choked. Cost the team the entire match."
"Why did he choke? Did they get him in one of those pile driver things?" Nigel asked confused.
"No, El Toro's girlfriend Bonnie Rockwaller dumped him after the first period for Gaston LeGume, the head of her cheerleading squad." Brian said shaking his head "El Toro was worthless after that. The other team just tossed him around the rest of the day like a half sack of pork rinds. Oh geez. His squad hated him after that. The whole school did."
"How sad. Especially since it all happened to him again with Gustov and Beutania," Nigel said feeling sorry for El Toro.
"Ohhhhhhhh. Rigggggght. Yeah, they exist." Brian said in an overly sarcastic tone "Not made up at all those two. Sheeesh. Hey, I've got some original Picassos over here if you're interested, by the way…"
"See you." Nigel said to him
"Yes, run! Run from the horror!" Brian tells him.
Nigel looks at the paintings one was off a wall of vines and the other was of a window. He buys both of them. He then leaves and comes out onto the main street, he sees Bullmon charging towards him. He sees a open manhole and hurries down it and winds up in the sewers.
But they there not what he expected, instead of usual sewer appearance, they resembled that of a school gym. As he explored Nigel said "I'm starting to feel like I'm back in high school. Which is weird because I'm only ten." He explores the area dealing with eneimes until he finds a mental vault running around and whacks it to reveal it's reel which he looks at it.
The reel was titled 'El Toro's Lament' the first lidge was a carving in a tree which read 'Bonnie El Toro' with a love heart around it, next one shows a younger El Toro with a woman that resembles Beutania that had to be Bonnie at prom being named Prom King and Queen. The following had El Toro in a school wrestling outfit with a mak that had a blue bull on it and Bonnie in a cheerleader outfit.
The next slide showed El Toro with the rest of his Masked Wrestling team, two resembled Bane and Incenaror, the other two was a black teen with a lighting bolt and bird theme and the last was a blond haired white boy with a cobra theme. Nigel guessed the last two are the remaining card guardions. The next slide showed Bonnie with her cheer team squad which was all girl except for one, a muscled man with black hair in a small ponytail, this was no doubt Gaston, the Cheer team leader who was holding Bonnie up.
The next slide had El Toro posing for Bonnie who looked not impressed, next slide had Gaston posing with pompoms and Bonnie looking at him with hearts in her eyes. The following slide was of the Semi-Final match where El Toro sees Gaston and Bonnie making out on the bench and he was sad as the other team's wrestler pins him, the audience was not happy. The final slide showed El Toro sitting looking sad as his teammates glare at him in anger.
Nigel felt bad for El Toro, he makes his way through the swears and climbs up into an alley way, he sees the spot for the vine painting and uses it, he climbs up to a rooftop garden that was amazing, their he also could see Bane and Inceiroar tending to it, so this is where they go when the guard is claimed. He also sees another Mental vault and cracks it open for its reel.
This one was titled 'El Toro's Love' the first slide was of Bonnie looking sad as she was trying to open her locker, El Toro sees her while he was with his teammates. The next slide show El Toro having ripped off her locker door amazing her. The next had the two having lunch in the Cafeteria where Bonnie was talking while El Toro looks at her dreamily.
The following slide had them taking a nighttime walk by a pond, the next slide showed Bonnie shivering from the cold and El Toro removes his jersey for her to wear. The next one had them sitting on a park bench, Bonnie removing a rose from her hair with the following one having her place it in El Toro's hand and the final one had them going to have a kiss under the moonlight.
Nigel couldn't believe the heartbreak El Toro suffered, he leaves the guard and finds the Lucador painting for the Queen of Dimonds, this one had a blue bird theme and like the others a hand grabs the card and pulls it into the pictures frame. Nigel jumps in after it.
Nigel lands on the giant card arena and the crowd cheers as the announcer said "Introducing, back from a crushing victory at Somone Might Lose a Tooth in Wawanakwa….Lightning the Thunderhawk!"
On the stage resembling a bird was a black masked wrester in a blue lighting and bird themed costume. He comes down the stage arms flapping like wings then jumps into the ring, he looks down at Nigel and just said "Sha-Lightning"
"That's it? Sha-Li…" Was all Nigel said before he was punched sending him flying back a bit in the ring.
"Sha-lightning. Sha-lightning." Lightning just tells him.
Nigel recovers and uses his leveitation ball to do some damage to him, but Lightning has a unique move compared to the last two he caws like a bird and flies up into the air. He then begins to come down on him like a bird, but Nigel thinking quick activates his shield power to do him him some harm and stun him. Nigel repeats this until Lightning goes down and he does the mocking dance of victory.
"Sha-Lightning." Nigel told Lightning mockingly. Then the area shakes and the card shrinks down for Nigel to pick up.
Nigel returns to the central plaza and goes up to El Toro and hands him the card saying, "This one was a real pain in the butt to get."
"Ah, that is exactly the card I need." El Toro said smiling as he takes it and uses it so all the diamond cards lock into place.
Only one card left to get, Nigel hurries and jumps through the Lightning portal.
As he explores he finds a brown great dane doge with black spots holding painting supplies hiding near the portrait to the final card looking nervous. He was Scooby-Doo.
"You look pretty jumpy. What's the problem?" Nigel asked.
[Author Note: I know Scooby is meant to have a speech impediment of some kind but for the sake of not figuring out how to translate it into scooby speech here he is able to talk normal since he is a mental denizon not the actual Scooby]
"I'm supposed to paint an ad for the big fight between Gustov the Matador and the town bull. Only the bull's on a rampage right through where the painting needs to go." He points to a spot across the screet that read 'Your Ad Here'
"Ooooo, Gustov the Matator? I need to talk to him!" Nigel said excited.
"His apartment's right upstairs. While you are there, maybe you can convince him to take care of the bull." Scooby-Doo told him.
Nigel nods and heads up into the apartment and look around he sees Gustov in his red and black Matador costume. Upon seeing him Gustov said "Ah, you must be the towel boy! You want an autograph? I don't just hand those out. And that's a good lesson for you: anticipate disappointment. Take me: I'm the greatest bullfighter who's ever lived. Yet my upcoming match against the town bull has received virtually no marketing support. A towering advertisement was supposed to have been painted just outside my window." Gustov explained "But, as you can see, the job hasn't even been started."
"I think that bull is trampling anyone who tries to paint on the wall." Nigel points out "Maybe you could stop it."
"Hmmmm…so instead of challenging the bull before a stadium packed with screaming women, you want me to fight it on the street in front of one dog and one child wearing a crude towel boy disguise." Gustov asked and then said "That's a terrible idea. Here's a better one: you go get that billboard painted, and I'll reward you handsomely. Which is how I do everything. As an advance, I'll give you one of my secret weapons. Use it if anyone gets stubborn" He then pulls out a green Merit Badge showing a face of a confused person with question marks over their head.
Nigel knew what this was, it was the Merit Badge for the Psi-power Confusion. With it he now had all the Merit Badges and powers he can access for camp. With this power he is able to use Confusion Grenades. He even found something to increase the ammo capacity.
Nigel heads back out to meet with Scooby-Doo and told him "Hey, uh, we really got to get that billboard painted."
"Okay, here's the plan. Step one: I quit 'we'. Step two: 'We' which is now just you run out there and gets killed painting the billboard." Scooby-Doo told him.
"Maybe I can distract the bull while you paint. It's so crazy it just might work." Nigel said thinking.
"Or maybe it's so crazy that it's just extra crazy. There's absolutely no way I'm going out there." Scooby-Doo said nervous.
"Come on, you're a great dane! Show some courage." Nigel told him "Plus, who wants to go for a walk? Who wants to go for a walk?"
"Stupid. Dog. Brain. RRRRRRRR. Ack. Alright, let's go!" Scooby-Doo said giving him
"Great! When I say 'Go boy!' get moving!" Nigel instructs him. He then waits for the right moment then throws the confusion grenade and it hits Bullmon, making him confused that he stands on his hindlegs and dances "Go boy!"
Scooby-Doo hurries across the street to the spot to paint the add and quickly does so and when he was done, he hurries into a nearby alley to get off the street before Bullmon snaps out of it.
Gustov looks at it from his window and said "Hmmm. It's not great. But I suppose it's just barely good enough. Come see me if you still want your reward."
Nigel goes to him in is apartment and said "You know, your advice didn't work."
"Really? Then here's some new advice: I don't know what you're talking about." Gustov told him.
"How about that reward?" Nigel asked him.
"Fine then, one autograph." Gustov said to him.
"You know, my great dane friend could still paint a beer gut on that poster out there…" Nigel said to him annoyed.
"Alright! Here! Take this! But I warn you, I won't be able to sign it." Gustov said to him and hands Nigel an upgrade to increase he projection strength in the mental world.
With that sorted Nigel goes to the snake themed frame which has the Queen of Spades card floating on it, a hand reaches out and pulls the card into place and Nigel jumps into the painting.
Nigel lands in the card arena and hears the announcer said "Next up: Dash 'The Cobra' Baxter!"
He sees a blond-haired boy in a snake themed luchador costume posing on a cobra stage and he comes down and enters the arena. He looks at Nigel and then say in a voice close to a high school bully "Hey El Toro, nice glasses. Freak."
"What?" Nigel said confused
"What? You suck, El Dorko. You can't beat me. Coach says I can't be beat." Dash told him "Coach says I got mental toughness. You can't break my concentration, wimp."
"Hey, I'm not El Toro." Nigel said to him.
"Yeah, you're going to wish you're not El Toro when I'm though." Dash said cracking his knuckles
"Look, I am NOT El Toro. My name's Nigel Uno. I'm a psychonaut." Nigel said worried now.
"You're an idiot, El Losoro." Dash told him "Coach says your psycho girl-crazy lack of focus cost you states."
"Seriously, I don't want to have to hurt you." Nigel told him.
"Well, since you'd have to break my concentration to even touch me, and since you can't break my concentration, I guess you won't be too disappointed then." Dash told him smirking.
Nigel knew how to beat him. He uses the confusion grenade on Dash to make him dazed then hits him with the Levitation ball. He repeats this cycle but it was tougher then the other fights so Nigel did get hit a few times especially with that hypno snake eyes trick he has but soon Dash goes down. Nigel does the mocking victory dance
"I beat you just like I did back in high school, loser!" Nigel said in victory. "Wait…who am I?" The arena then shakes and shrinks down to be big enough for Nigel to pick up. The final one and time to hand it to El Toro.
Nigel arrives in the central plaza and climbs up the tower to where El Toro is and said while handing over the Queen of Spades "Here you go El Toro. The last card."
"Thank you. You said you would get them and you did." El Toro said smiling taking it "Not everyone is as true to their word, you know."
"Well now you can finish your tower." Nigel tells him.
"Yes, now this can all end, once and for all." El Toro said and uses the card to complete the tower.
Nigel looks at it from the bottom and said impressed "Wow. It looks like you can walk right up there now, El Toro." But he got no response "El Toro? El Toro?" He sees he is no where to be seen.
Nigel begins to climb up the tower of cards and once he reaches the top reaches for Beutania and enters an area with several audience members in bull makes. The woman looks at him standing on a stage and said "I knew you would save me someday. He just won't let me go. Tell me, how did you kill him?"
"Kill who?" Nigel asked confused.
"Bullmon" Beutania said simply as the room rumbles.
"I didn't." Nigel said worried. Just then Bullmon leaps from the stands and lands in the arena however, the boy notices his growl sounds familiar and looking at him, Nigel finally notices som features matching El Toro and remembers all the luchadors animal themes were based on his teammates and El Toro's was based on the bull or ox. Concerned he said to Bullmon "El Toro?" Beutania looks away and does the cross on her chest before walking away.
Nigel had to face off and take down Bullmon or rather the beast side of El Toro, watching from the podium was Beutaina and Gustov. There were several spears around the arean. Bullmon charges and Nigel dodges, the bull getting stuck in a wall, Nigel then uses levitate on a spear on the bull embedding it into him. When Bullmon got smart enough to avoid the walls, Nigel used confusion grenades to make it stay still.
When all four spears were embedded in Bullmon it groans and transforms back to El Toro who groans and asked confused "Where am I?"
"Thank you for preparing the bull, my humble picadar." Gustov said entering the arena sword drawn as a podium rises under him "I shall now finish this beast off easily."
"El Toro listen. There is no Bullmon, no Beutainia, no Gustov." Nigel told El Toro.
"Wha…." El Toro said confused.
"You can't let the junior varsity pep squad ruin your life!" Nigel told him.
"Um, what's up with the 'Junior?'" Gustov asked insulted, his voice dropping the macho accent and sounding more like a high school jerk showing more signs of Gaston more then Gustov which is how he will go by from now on.
"Yeah, we were full on varsity." Beutania said also insulted her voice sounding less sweet and more spoiled brat making her more Bonnie then Beutania which I will refer to as from henceforth.
"Gimmie a G!" Gaston cheers
"G!" Bonnie cheers in response
"Gimmie a O!" Gaston cheers.
"O!" Bonnie cheers and they continue
"They stole my happiness!" El Toro said getting angry "My life!" He slams his fists onto the ground and he transforms back into Bullmon "The state semi-finals! Everything!"
Gaston jumps down ready to face Bullmon and smirks a mocking smirk. In anger Bullmon charges at Gaston when he shows his red cap
"No! Wait! El Toro!" Nigel said worried
"Ole!" Bonnie says as Bullmon misses Gaston and hits the wall getting stuck.
"Ha, ha, ha! He never learns!" Gaston said as Bullmon gets out.
"Oh no. I can't believe I stuck four of those barbed poles in his back!" Nigel said worried seeing the spears still in Bullmon's back.
"They're called 'Banderillas!'" Gaston told him in his Gustov voice.
"I got to get those out of there and protect El Toro. If something happens to him while I'm in his mind, I'll get the boot." Nigel said nodding.
Nigel moves quickly avoiding attacks from Gaston and gets the spears out of Bullmon's back, the problem now was Gaston was teleporting around the arena so it was hard to lock him down. But Nigel knew he gave him the tool to stop him and tosses a confusion grenade that hits Gaston.
"Ohhhhoooo…Ohhh…" Gaston said in confusion. "I am the mighty BULLMON! I have all the powers of THE BULL!"
"Hm…And all the weaknesses I'll bet…" Nigel said looking at the spears.
He then throws one into Gaston that embeds itself into him. Nigel repeats this, confusing the matador when he snaps out of it and while he acts like a bull he throws a spear into him until all four were in him
"Bullmon….is….dying…" Gaston said as he falls to the floor.
Bonnie goes to him and cries holding his body. Nigel stops Bullmon from charging and the two watch. Bonnie then chants in sadness "It's…all right…it's okay. We'll win the game…some other…day…" She begins crying.
"Ug, please, El Toro, look at them. They're too pathetic to hurt you any more." Nigel said to El Toro who transformed back to normal, he was also now wearing a red luchador mask with a bull symbol on the forehead. "Can't you just let it go?"
"How embarrassing." El Toro said head in his hand "I can't believe I was hung up for so long over these losers."
Bonnie looks at El Toro who glares at her and then at the dead Gaston who she quickly lets go of "Um….uh….I—I always loved you more?"
El Toro shakes with rage then smiles as the floor beneath Bonnie and Gaston opens up and the two begin to fall screaming. Nigel and El Toro walk away as the floor closes, but curious they look back they hear the scream growing distant till a long bang splat makes them wince indicating they hit the bottom. El Toro and Nigel high five as the walk away
Back in the outside world, El Toro was wearing his Lucahdor mask and finishes his painting of Dr Nefarious saying "Signed…El…Toro…finished." He looks at Nigel and said smiling "When you bring this to my patron, Nigel, you may also hand him my farewell, for I am checking myself out of here."
"You have unchained my mind, my young friend so before I go, I'd like to show my gratitude by painting you a REAL work of art."
"No bull?" Nigel asked him.
El Toro laughs at that and said "You make light of my mental problems and still I have no rage! Amazing! It's like me and the bull inside of me have become one." He begins to paint
Nigel takes the portrait and sees what El Toro is painting, it was of him with the four dog painters playing cards "Hey, I like it."
"Ah, you see, the poor dumb beasts have no thumbs, so I ask you…how are they holding their cards?" El Toro asks smiling
"Um…St-St-Sticky paws?" Nigel guessed
"It should be impossible, and yet somehow they go on…playing the game." El Toro said as he paints "In the end, Nigel Uno, aren't we all just dogs playing poker?"
Nigel nods and leaves the area once down on the grounds he puts on his disguse with the portrait, straightjacket and trophy and approaches Crocker.
"Greetings, Dr. Nefarious!" Crocker said with a smile "Good to see your face! I see you got your blue robotic body nice and cleaned! If I might say so, your claws are looking ESPECIALLY menacing today! Up to the secret laboratory then, is it?"
Nigel nods and Crocker opens the lift door and he enters it and lets it be closed.
"Taking her up yourself this time, eh Doctor? Less work for me!" Crocker said with a shrug. Unaware as Nigel sees Ratchet now awake walk up behind Crocker.
"Inmate Denzel Crocker!" Ratchet said angry.
Crocker gets nervous and tuns to see Ratchet "Gahh! Chief Orderly Ratchet! You're…You're…"
"Armed?" Ratchet said holding out his hands.
Crocker screams and runs away while Ratchet chases him. Nigel watches this and chuckles and rides the lift up, it was time to save everyone and stop Sarge's evil schemes once and for all.
Well all mental worlds are done for now, next Nigel will be ascending the tower finding brains and allies.
