Huntik Heroes
Chapter 23
Time to see if I've got enough to finish out this fight and show what a powerbonded Titan can do. Not to mention bring more of the details of Seekers and who they are to the world to light. Which may or may not involve a certain idiotic group deciding to try and find the Spirals or anyone associated with them (quirkless people). And lead to a horrific end. On with the show.
(Asahi POV)
This is amazing! It's like I know everything about you now buddy! And I know just how we can make full use of this. "Let's do this Asura. Unleash Wrathful Barrage!" I call out and my Titan partner's fists glow red and gold. Before thrusting his fists forward at blasting that new Ihimis Titan he'd summoned during the fight. And demolishing more of the stadium in the process. Whoops.
Looks like it had more of an impact than I expected. What? Oh. Because you had been sent back to your amulet, using that attack let you unleash an even more powerful blow right away? Good to know. Now let's, what? Oh, I see. Now it's used up. Well at least we took out one of the more dangerous Titans.
"Damn you," the Spiral leader groaned out before spitting out one of his teeth. Nice touch pal. "Of course, a Casterwill is able to powerbond easily. You've always had it easy!" he roars out as his Hadi Titan howls and he summons one last Titan. A Silver Hunter. Great. Well at least he's looking tired now.
But it's not stopping him from monologuing. "You have always had the luxury of your family's wealth and status! It kept you safe from the monsters! The monsters created by quirks!" Oh shit. I think I might have a bad idea on what he's getting at. And that's when he recounts it.
How his parents and other family had been hunted down by those who looked like beasts and those with elemental quirks. Those people taking pleasure in the deaths of his home. And the burning and freezing of everyone around him. "Guess that answers why you have the skills you do. All ways to turn the tables on your oppressors. And where will it get you!" I yell back before using a Dragonfist to try and break through his weakening defenses.
He buckles slightly but still stands and attacks back with a Venomhand and then an Earthrift punch. The latter really hurts as the magic flows through my shadow. "Try a Kindlestrike!" I shout and blast him back. Asura meanwhile is handling both Hadi and a returned Sko. Not sure where that thing disappeared to, but my partner has it handled for now.
"Use Rage Storm!" I call out and Asura roars before spinning and sucking his foes in to get smacked a bit. It won't do a lot, but it'll smack them around for a while. "You aren't wrong, but you aren't right either! I'm not a Casterwill! But I do hold to their values of justice and doing the right thing! That is one of the reasons I chose to come to this school! So, we're no longer heroes hidden away and can give those without quirks real hope!"
Okay, I'm running on fumes now. I have to make this next strike count as I blast away with a few low power spells. Luckily, I have you backing me up Asura. As the Rage Storm subsides and the two wolves are shaking their heads, it's time for our final play. "Karmic Syncronization!" I call out as I feel the power from my old partner. Oh shit.
It feels like I'm on fire! But I can't back down now. Let it finish and now I've got what I think I'll need. Which in this case I guess means having four arms coming from my back now. Sort of. I guess they're just magic arms but still. It'll help me get the job done. "DRAGONFIST!" I roar out as all of my limbs have the magic light burning on them.
And now I'll let this….. unfortunate but still needs to be stopped foe have it. But for you pal, I think you need to wait for them to attack. Catch their mouths and then give them the best Wrathful Barrage you can! "I do feel sorry for you. But I can't let you hurt anyone else!" I say before rushing forward to copy the way my Titan attacks. That being throwing dozens of punches with each of my arms.
And it works perfectly for breaking through first Rodolfo's Stormshield and then through the magical barrier he was projecting around his body. And I land so many punches I lose track of how many I've thrown as I can feel his bones breaking under my attacks. Culminating with one last punch to his face to send him into one of the remaining walls of the stadium. Crap. I used too much magic. Can't even muster an Everfight.
At least I don't have to worry about him or his Titans. Just like I advised, Asura waited for both wolves to pounce on him. Catching their jaws with two of his hands on either side before tossing them up into the air. And then the new Wrathful Barrage finished them off. Though as they returned to their amulets, I was passing out. "Well. Guess that's one way to close out the festival."
(No POV)
"He may not be a Casterwill, but he's clearly got similar strength and will to them." Sadie said while dispelling her Camoforge. Asura spotted her and looked ready to attack again. "Sorry so say, but I'm not going to get into a punch out with you. Hopeshatter," she says and Asura is forced back to his amulet again. 'I'm lucky it was exhausted enough from coming back once already. But I'm in no position to really do more damage. Besides, it's not my strength. But…..'
Sadie looked around and shivered as she felt some of the negative emotions that had been lingering around the stadium. 'The fear, hate, and panic are great sources we've made here. But there is still so much lingering resentment, envy, sadness, and even greed. I'll have to make sure to reward both of my pets later.'
With that, the second up and coming Blood Spiral gets under Rodolfo's arm and uses another of the teleport crystals to get them away. Outside the walls of the stadium though, it was going a little more in the heroes favor. Ruby and the others had managed to take out the rest of the Titans and had captured a few of them.
Others who were going down though, quickly pulled out teleport crystals and got away once they felt the new surge from inside the stadium. "It looks as though we haven't been entirely successful. But at least we've broken down one of the greatest symbols of quirk ego in the world," one silent soldier said before leaping at some of the restrained Spirals and warping away.
"Shit. Well that just tears it. Ha. Can you all handle the rest out here? I need to check inside." Ruby said before Bristlebinding a few more of the Spirals. "We've got this. Go check on the others." Death Arms said before seeing the police arrive. Calling them over to help restrain the rest of the Blood Spirals.
One who joined up with Ruby was Melissa and the group she had been with. Kaminari was only half functioning and had a number of bruises. But he wasn't getting knocked out because of over doing it again. Jurota was bloody and covered in various levels of cuts, but he was in control. And Jiro had been patching up the latter as Ruby arrived.
She let out a low whistle as she looked around and saw the number of unconscious Spirals. "I'm assuming there were more here right?" she asked before using an Everheal to help Jurota. "Yeah. A bunch of them teleported away and these were the only ones who didn't get away." Melissa reported before picking up a crystal that one Spiral had pulled out.
Ruby nodded before saying, "do you three think you'll be alright? I might need Melissa's help on the inside." Each gave their own levels of affirmation with Jiro peeking over at the blonde Seeker. "Melissa! Uh…. Be careful," she said with a light pink dusting on her cheeks. "Don't worry. It should be okay. Probably."
Melissa's words didn't inspire confidence but it did get some chuckles. As the two older (only slightly in one case) Seekers made their way inside, they saw more of the damage the villains had caused. "Bloody Hell. They certainly didn't hold back." Ruby noted and saw a few of the people who hadn't gotten away in time. And what was left of them.
The younger Seeker felt sick to her stomach but tamped it down to find anyone else in trouble. One of those being a badly injured Endeavor who was surprisingly covered in burns. A lot of burns and looking half dead. He barely noticed as they stepped up and checked him over. "Ah… what… where am…. I?" he groaned out before feeling the pain from all of his injuries and burns. Both Seekers grimace before kneeling down and checking his wounds. With Ruby using Everheal to seal a few of them up.
"Thought you had a chance to win and the Spirals handed you your own ass eh? Might teach you to just jump in and assume it'd all turn out well me ol China." Ruby snarked while giving Endeavor a smack upside his head. He groaned at that and was about to retort. Only to find it somewhat dying in his throat as he looked up at the woman.
He shook his head for a moment and said, "I... won't deny that. *cough* *Hack! * Oha. Ow. Damn. That villain really did a number on me. And the worst part of it….. I'm not even the first one he's almost killed like this. I saw at least ten links of hair he'd taken as trophies." That disturbed both of the Seekers, but they focused on getting the number 2 up and out of the locker room.
And while he was angry at being taken out of the fight, he couldn't deny he'd been overconfident when he faced his foe. Upon seeing the destruction that had been wrought both in the halls and on the field, he was thinking he'd gotten off easy. "My god. What happened here?"
"I'm working on figuring that out." Melissa said as Ruby was healing Asahi and the others. With Endeavor helping by removing more of the debris and searching for others on the off chance there were others trapped. Finding a few and bringing them to the red-haired Seeker. Melissa meanwhile was using her Holotome and a few drones to put together more details of who or what they were dealing with.
Asahi was groaning as she finished compiling the data and woke up after Reiko and Izuku. "Guess we survived. Somehow." Izuku grunted out as he winced from his broken ribs. "Uh…. How?" Reiko asked her head was bandaged up.
Melissa hummed before saying, "looks like Asahi had a big hand in it. Looks like you pulled out a serious miracle today. What was this?" She pushed a button on her Holotome and displayed for everyone to see not just the flow of the battle but some of the events that had occurred.
Izuku raised an eyebrow and asked, "since when can Holotomes display all of that?" Melissa gave him a look before saying, "since I got a hold of the technology and have been modifying and improving it even more. Though it was on the same path. Anyway. What happened here? After this big burst that collapsed part of the stadium?"
Asahi sighed and noted that Rodolfo had used a dangerous Blood Spiral spell to take most of them out of the fight. "I've only heard stories about it. Auraforce. A powerful shockwave spell that can burst through almost any defense. And as you can see, it has some other effects," he said before noting that the only caveat appeared to be that it needed a bit of charging up and could be dodged.
"As for after. Well. I managed to really bond with my partner. Powerbonding with Asura. And with a touch of Newlife, I was able to bring him back strong enough to level the playing field." Asahi boasted slightly. Until Izuku noted, "yeah but it looks like it took a lot out of you."
Nodding as the hologram showed more of the fight and how Asahi had eventually managed to defeat the Spiral commander. And then passed out. That was when the new player showed up just to remove Rodolfo and seemingly signal the rest to retreat. "So that commander is still at large and there are others almost as strong? Not a good day for us." Endeavor noted with a defeated tone.
Only to grunt out as Ruby elbowed him. "So you got your arse handed to you. Just means you have to pick yourself up and learn from it. Even if some of that learning involves knowing when to back down or leave it to a Seeker," she said with a smirk directed his way. The man turned as red as his and her hair for a moment before acknowledging her point. "Maybe I'll be calling on a Seeker or two during the internships. Could help with learning a number of things."
Izuku and Reiko chuckled at that while the former looked over at his old friend with a bit of envy. 'Guess that's not too surprising. Given how long we've been learning and competing I guess. That just means my time to get a power bond is next.' Izuku thinks while considering his Titans. Reiko though is curious about this as she'd only heard about the powerbonds with Titans second hand. Wondering what it would mean for her own Titans if she gained it.
For the few civilians who had been listening and watching some of the spectacle of the fight, they questioned the possibility of the danger to come. With some being enamored by the skills and powers that the Seekers had shown. Others though were looking on with envy, anger, and disdain. Especially at the point that only those without quirks could gain this power.
The news would have a field day with the chaos that unfolded on what was supposed to be an exciting day to celebrate quirks. And instead, it turned into a massive terrorist attack by a group that not only didn't have quirks, but they were able to completely stone wall most of the normal heroes everyone had come to rely on. Some even taking over multiple minds and using them to attack others.
"Quite the mess." William said to Nezu three days after the incident that had come to be known as "The Bloody Festival Conflict". Nezu agreed and found himself with even more paperwork than before and trying to reassure the HPSC, the police and military, and the government themselves about all of the precautions they were taking.
With a shaky sip of his tea, he said, "it's looking like we'll need to implement the dorm system sooner than expected. Aside from that, I know the commission has been looking to recruit more of your people to be public heroes. Both to get better press, and to reassure the people that not all Seekers want to hurt them."
The Lambert patriarch's sigh mirrored Nezu's as they worked out a few more details about the role the Seekers could play in the coming weeks and beyond. During that time, each of the students had gained different forms of recognition. With the Seekers being celebrated and images of their fight being posted online. Or rather the holotome images and what few camera feeds had still been working during the fight between Rodolfo and Izuku's team.
"Are we really a team though?" Melissa questioned at one point while they were between practice and drills with their magic and other skills. The younger teens looked at her funny and she continued. "I mean yeah, we get along, and we've fought together. But I'm not sure we're really a team. Especially not compared to the Dante Vale team in the past. We're too disjointed."
"She's not wrong." Asahi admitted. Looking down while thinking about his ancestor Lok. "He was taught and trained by Dante. Learning in the field and growing by leaps and bounds in the escalated wars between the Organization and the Blood Spirals. But…. out of us, only me and Izuku have a lot of training. And frankly none of us are exactly full agents with the Foundation."
Reiko looked down sadly at that and Izuku agreed. "Maybe some of what we need is to find ways we can grow on our own. You and I were taught by your dad. Melissa's been taking a few lessons, but her skills don't mesh the same way. And Reiko…."
The former ghost girl gave Izuku a look, as if to ask if he really wanted to finish his thought. The green teen cleared his throat before saying, "well she's really new to all of this." And that was something she couldn't deny at all. "So what do you suggest? We just learn from a few different Seekers?"
"Well, those internships are coming up. And I've heard a few Seekers with the Foundation are planning to work with a few hero agencies now. Kind of on a trial basis and to help prepare for more Spiral attacks." Melissa noted while thinking of who she wouldn't mind learning from.
Izuku nods and says, "guess that's where we should go with this. I might have an idea on someone I want to study with." He walked over to Asahi before smiling and putting his fist up. "I'll catch up to you soon man."
"Looking forward to it." Asahi said while bumping Izuku's fist. Reiko though felt uneasy about the idea, especially given how green she was as a Seeker. But she wouldn't deny that it would do her some good to grow without the others keeping an eye on her or helping her to stand again. Resolving to look up a few Seekers who would be willing to teach her more.
Across town at Sadie's disguised office, she was sitting and looking over a chart she had before her. Crossing her legs once or twice as she shifted her weight. On a faux professional level, it was the details and chart of one of her patients. One who had been meeting with her to talk about the pain and stress of him being a heteromorph. That being the skunk man who was one of her "pets".
"You did exceptionally with this latest incident. And while normally I'd reward you as I am with another pet, I might have something different in mind. If you….. truly want this possibility." The man lifted his head up and looked at her strangely. "What do you mean mistress?" he asked with a gulp.
Sadie hummed before shifting again and leaning down to check through a few of her drawers. Finally finding what she wanted after a few minutes. She pulled out a locked case, input a combination, and opened the box towards the man. Inside was the perfected version of the serum she developed to remove quirks.
While shifting her weight again she said, "I know you have probably suffered as much as I have. Maybe not to the same kind of degree, but still. If you are ready to shake off the shackles of your quirk….. This will do it. And with some luck. You might just be one of us."
The man was floored by the offer and the possibility before him. His entire life he'd been treated as an animal or a freak. Mocked and sometimes attacked because of it. And that wasn't even getting into the complications with his body odor due to his quirk. And now he had a chance to get rid of it. With even the possibility of becoming as powerful as his mistress.
The man bit his lip before reaching gingerly towards the syringe. Gulping before bringing it up to his neck. With a shaky breath, he jabbed the needle into his neck and pushed the serum into himself. Once it was empty, he dropped the syringe and fell to the floor in some pain. Feeling a myriad of changes as it continued to work through his body.
Sadie let out a breath while moving her hands to either side of her chair as the man's changes continued. A few rough breaths later, and a hand came up onto her desk. But it wasn't black furred. It was a normal human hand. The former mutated human was now a relatively decent looking man with black and white hair. Who was crying as he saw one of the mirror's that were used during "sessions" and saw his face looking like a completely human one.
"Hey. Catch!" Sadie said before tossing a Harlequin amulet to him. In an instant he felt the madness from within the item and felt the energy build in his hand. "Seems you're one of the lucky ones. Seems like a one in eight or so. I hope you're ready to truly be part of our brotherhood." Sadie said with a wry and yet still sadistic smirk. "I am. It's time to tear this civilization down even more!"
Once her former "patient" had left, the woman could turn her attentions back to a different matter. Namely her chair. Or rather Momo who was holding her posture as well as she could with Sadie atop her. Not wearing anything, gagged, somewhat bound, among other things, she had been keeping herself as steady as she could with her mistress on her back.
The girl's eyes had tears in them, but they also seemed to have hearts in them as Sadie's hands moved over her body. "I think you deserve even more of a reward~. You not only helped to make the heroes look bad, but your actions helped in adding to our ranks. Even if indirectly. So. What do you want my little pet~?" she said as she let down the gag and nibbled on Momo's ear. Her legs tightening as her arousal hit a peak and she made her request.
Okay I know that got a little too horny at the end, but I wanted to illustrate some more of what his happening as a result of a number of actions. In the meantime though, I'm thinking on having some of the Seekers go on truly individual adventures. I know that's counter to what happens in Huntik. But something I realized was that not only were they not a real team yet, but they weren't all at the same level or capability. And this gives me a chance to flush out more of the world as I have changed it. Oh and you'll see where the matter with Endeavor goes eventually. Please review! And a real review, not just the bullshit of someone asking to do art. I've been getting nothing but that for over 2 months now.
