Chapter 21
Rosa gained the powers of the Fall maiden and turned on the Sith. The Third and Fourth Fleets engaged the Sith forces all throughout the city of Mistral. Raven revealed herself as the Spring maiden after the death of Vernal. Yang challenged her mother after she opened the vault.
Yang and Blake stood side by side, lightsabers pointed at Raven, the Spring Maiden. She had opened the vault, leaving the relic inside in danger. Raven turned on her lightsaber, with her purple blade humming. Raven stood in front of the vault door. She felt the hot air of the desert hit her. The air became heavier. She could feel the pressure increasing in the air.
"Stand down, Yang. Last chance." Raven said.
"That's exactly what you want me to do." Yang said.
"We are going to take that relic." Blake said.
"You leave me no choice." Raven said.
Raven took the first step. She rushed forward raising her blade in a form I opening strike. Blake rolled out of the way and watched as Yang blocked the attack. Blake rushed forward and created a shadow clone. Raven swiped, hitting the clone. She realized what it was and spun back. Blake was behind her. Blake brought a knee up and hit Raven in the stomach. Raven stumbled back. She raised her hand and ice formed. Yang raised her hand and created fire. The ice and fire met. The ice was stronger. Blake grabbed Yang and got them out of the way. They rolled on the ground and quickly got back up.
Yang ran forward making a wide low strike. Raven brought her lightsaber down and blocked the strike. Raven sent out a force push at Yang and she went backwards. She slammed into the ground. Yang got back up and felt the energy start to gather inside of her.
Blake rushed forward and created two shadow clones. Raven expected her to jump, but Blake slid between the two clones. She threw her weapon behind her and Yang caught it. Raven felt the ribbon go taut and she fell. She brought her hands behind her and pushed off the ground to get back up. Blake jumped in the air slightly to get a good angle. Raven blocked the strike and punched Blake in the stomach. Blake went back. Raven looked at the two of them.
"This better not be it." Raven said.
Yang brought her hands back and rushed forward, using the shotgun blasts to speed herself up. She was still holding onto the ribbon Blake gave her. Blake started spinning, and let go of the ribbon. Yang went flying, landing next to Raven instead of right on her. Raven saw what was going on at the last second and jumped. Shards of rocks flew up at Raven. She turned into a raven and flew out of the way of the rocks.
Blake fired at Raven, forcing her to turn back to block the strikes. Yang found a rock and jumped off it using the force went for Raven. She brought her lightsaber in front of her to block the strike. Yang punched at Raven. The hit pushed Raven back. Yang could feel the robotics of her arm barely withstanding the lightsaber. Raven and Yang both fell back to the ground. Blake jumped and caught Yang. Raven slammed against the ground. Raven got up, spitting on the ground.
"That was a risk, Yang." Raven said. Yang and Blake standing now.
"Why do you insist to keep on fighting?" Raven asked.
"Because someone has to stop Salem. Because we can. Because it's who we are." Yang said.
"We have a reason to fight." Blake said.
"Summer Rose has rubbed off on you." Raven said.
Trifa was running back to the HQ. She needed to make sure the files were deleted. She saw a few Alliance troops around the entrance. She checked her ammo and shook her head. She had enough to do this. She raised the sniper and waited. One of the troops leaned over just enough for her. Trifa fired, hitting both troops at once, killing them. She had enough time to fire one more shot. She found another target and took the shot. He went down. She saw they had her location now. She took out a pistol and started firing. She hit one of them and he dropped. She went back into the alley she was in and quickly climbed up and through a building. She opened a window on the other side and dropped.
Trifa threw her knife killing the guard who was meant to stay and watch the door. She got into the HQ and made her way through it. She had to avoid a squad that was in the first room. They heard the noise outside and all ran out. She let out a sigh. She slipped past the stairs and started rushing to the basement where the terminals were. She had to get there and make sure that nothing would go wrong.
She opened a door and saw a troop standing guard in the room with the terminals. Trifa let out a curse and rushed. He turned but she shot him with an entire magazine. He dropped and she reloaded. She opened the door. There was no one left in the room.
"Shit." Trifa said. She rushed down the stairs and got to a terminal. She could tell just by how it looked that they got into it. She brought her hand to her head and tried to think of a way this could get any worse. She saw a small blinking red light. She ducked and saw an explosive there. She widened her eyes as they went off.
The White Fang lost another of its key leaders. The Fourth Fleet had clear passage into the city. The bottom of the city was secured.
The Sith were overflowing the courtyard at Haven. They were pushing the Third Fleet back, barely. The two sides were nearly evenly matched. The Sith forces were taking more losses, but the Third Fleet wasn't able to replace the men they lost fast enough.
Nadir and Reese were keeping the Sith away from the main hall of Haven. The Sith were getting closer and closer to their position.
"I'm running low on Ammo." Nadir said. Reese brought her pistols back.
"Same here." Reese said.
Scarlet and Neptune were firing back at the Sith troops as well. Scarlet grabbed three grenades and handed one to the others. He grabbed his last one. They all threw the grenades, keeping the Sith troops at bay. Arslan was on top of the stairwell with Ren keeping the Sith that were already in the building from getting closer. Jaune was healing Qrow's broken arm, given to him by Vox. Oscar was holding onto his head.
"Ruby, I think you and Weiss should go down now." Oscar said.
"What about Rosa?" Weiss asked. Rosa started to get up and leaned against the wall. The power she gained had drained her. She started to stand up.
"Be careful." Pyrrha said. Pyrrha was wrapping a bandage around Oscar's head.
"I'm going to be good. I can sleep later." Rosa said.
"Are you sure?" Weiss asked.
"I can handle this." Rosa said. She jumped first. Ruby was next, then Weiss. Pyrrha finished wrapping the bandages and grabbed her blaster. She rushed up the stairs. Reese and Nadir left the entrance. Nora took their place and started launching the grenades at the oncoming troops.
"How many of these guys are there?" Nora asked.
Suddenly, a massive gust of wind slammed down into the middle of the Sith forces. There was a massive chunk of Wind dust that was sticking out into the ground. The Sith forces were taken off their feet. The Third Fleet forces began to cheer.
"General Keal's on the scene!" One of the troops shouted.
Asha Keal was gliding down to the battlefront. It looked as if she was running on air. Little did the Sith know, that's exactly what she was doing. Her powerful semblance gave her control over the air. She brought out Typhoon's Edge and changed it to a rifle. She fired at the enemy troops. Drop ships were coming down now. The rounds were explosive as she controlled the air around the fire bullets. They each burst as soon as the air in front of the bullet hit something. She switched her weapon back into Glaive form and brought it behind her. She rushed down to the ground. She jumped mid-air and slammed the glaive into the wind dust shard. She smirked as it activated. It was a hurricane in the middle of the Sith forces. Troops were flung in the air and sent flying. Some of them would fall all the way to the bottom of the mountain. She took out her glaive and a visible wind circled the blade.
She swung her weapon in a wide arch, taking out those troops who had been able to get back up. The wind sharpened and cut through their armor. Some were cut in half from her single attack. She spun her weapon and the wind picked up. She thrust her glaive into the air and brought it back down. The air slammed into the enemy.
"Feel the winds shift? That's your doom rolling in." Asha said. Her troops cheered. She had weakened the enemy forces significantly.
"Wow. I can see why she's one of the Generals." Nora said.
The alliance troops were able to push forward with Asha Kael on their side. Asha was taking down squadrons' worth of Sith troops with the swing of her blade. The Sith were trying to get a counter defense up for her, but the alliance troops pushed up as well.
"The wind is my ally. Let's see you fight the storm!" Asha yelled.
Nora turned around and got to the top of the stairs as well. The Sith inside the building were still able to fight well. They didn't have to fight against a storm.
Yang continued to fight Raven. She was giving it everything she had. She jumped in the air bringing all the stored-up energy inside of her and slamming the ground. Raven jumped up in the air and used the force to block the attack. She brought her hands in the air and caused the stalactites on the ceiling to come crashing down. Blake wrapped her ribbon around Yang and brought her back.
"Thanks for the assist." Yang said.
"Any time." Blake said. They heard a thump come from behind them. Yang turned around and saw Rosa landed.
"Rosa! What are you doing?" Yang asked.
"I'm better now." Rosa said. Ruby landed a second later. Followed by Weiss.
"Looks like team RRWBY is finally back together." Ruby said.
"You think they'll be enough to stop me now?" Raven asked. She floated to the ground. Rosa saw the relic behind her. She opened her eyes wide as she felt some strange pull to it.
"We're going to take that relic." Yang said.
"You will try." Raven said. Weiss was up first. She created Glyphs for everyone. They sped away from a massive lightning bolt slammed where Yang and Blake were a second ago. Rosa gathered her maiden energy and created a fire lance. She threw it at Raven. Raven held her hand out and sent out a wave of wind magic. The lance went off course.
"I hope you have better." Raven said.
"I do." Rosa said.
"Why are we fighting? I thought you came back to the light side!" Ruby said.
"I can't allow weaklings to get the relic. We might as well give it to Salem now if you can't beat me." Raven said.
"I see." Ruby said. "Team, you know our mission."
"Show Raven our strength?" Rosa asked. Ruby shook her head.
"Exactly. Don't worry. We got this." Ruby had her silver lightsaber out. Raven closed her eyes and opened her lightsaber quickly. She grabbed the black crystal. She held it in front of them.
"This is useless in this fight." Raven said. She crushed the crystal. "It's not something I'm ever going to use again."
"You still have the red crystal." Rosa said.
"So do you." Raven said.
"Touche." Rosa said. She took out both her lightsabers and turned them on. The green and red blades hummed.
"Is that Maku's lightsaber?" Blake asked Rosa.
"Yeah. It shows who he really was at the end." Rosa said.
"Are you done talking?" Raven asked. She closed her lightsaber back up and turned it on. The purple blade stood out.
"Let's do this." Ruby said.
Ruby used her semblance to rush in. She wasn't going to use Vaapad. Raven didn't have enough darkness at the moment for her to enter into the state. Instead, she leaned back on Ataru which she knew the basics of.
Raven blocked Ruby's first strike.
"That's not your style." Raven said. She ducked out of the way of Weiss and jumped back, moving out of Blake's way. She brought her hand up and sent out force lightning. Blake rushed forward and blocked the attack. She was absorbing some of the energy. Ruby felt the dark side, but it wasn't enough. She took out her second lightsaber and went back to Juyo. She had confidence in her ability in that at least.
Yang fired at Raven, making Raven pay attention to her. Raven began to float in the air. Rosa was on top of her, with the wings coming out of her back. Rosa chose to shape the wind she was using unlike Raven. Rosa felt somewhat strange. It felt almost like she and Raven were fighting in water.
Raven blocked the blows while using Form II, Makashi. Raven knew multiple lightsaber forms. Rosa knew she was being outmatched. At the very least, Raven has had a lot more experience floating in the air. She backed off and brought her hands up. A small rose fire flew toward Raven. Ruby used her semblance to go through the fire, leaving flaming petals behind. She was in the air and fired Cresent Rose at Raven. Raven blocked the strike. Rosa gave Ruby a boost by creating a gust of wind behind her feet. Ruby rushed down and slashed Raven. Weiss summoned two Lancer Grimm and sent them at Raven.
Raven swung around and slashed the two lancers. Blake wrapped Raven's foot with her ribbon. She tossed her weapon to Rosa. Rosa dived below the bridge, bringing Raven with her. Raven tried to create an ice shield, but she hit the cave wall before she could. Raven took the hit and started floating again.
"Clever there." Raven said. She rushed over to team RRWBY, fire coming from her feet. She landed and took out her sword. She rushed forward, bringing the blade down. Weiss brought her lightsaber up to block the blow. Blake used the force to send Raven flying. Raven rolled along the ground and put her sword away. She brought it back out and it was purple.
"What?" Yang asked.
Raven rushed forward. Blake raised Gambol Shroud quickly, and felt the sword leave her hand. It didn't spin wildly. It spun right over her. She jumped up and grabbed her weapon.
"Gravity Dust. I see. Your blades are made of dust." Weiss said.
"That was quick." Raven said. She rushed at Weiss, but Rosa rushed forward, a staff in her hand, made from lightning. The staff broke, and Raven quickly backhanded Rosa. Weiss rushed in and jabbed at Raven. She blocked the attack, but the blade broke. She jumped back and quickly put the sword away.
Yang was up next. She brought her lightsaber down at Raven. Raven quickly brought her own lightsaber out and blocked the attack. She kicked Yang. Rosa used her maiden powers to catch her.
"Thanks, Rosa." Yang said.
"No problem." Rosa said. She flung Yang forward and rushed forward herself. Ruby came at another angle. Weiss created time-dilation glyphs around Raven. Yang brought her fist into Raven's face. She was slowly getting thrown back before Rosa stopped right before her. Rosa kicked Raven in the stomach. Ruby came flying behind Raven and shot her in the back three times. Blake rushed in as well and slashed at Raven. Weiss created a speed glyph behind her and rushed toward Raven. She had her lightsaber out until the last second where she turned it off and launched all of her dust at Raven, all at once. The explosion flung all of team RRWBY back and sent Raven flying. She caught her breath and looked at the kids.
"That was impressive." Raven said. She was worried there for a second that Weiss wouldn't turn the lightsaber off in time. She wasn't out of the fight just yet.
Oscar got up. He turned his lightsaber on. He moved up the stairwell and saw the Sith troops. He knew that blood was on his hands. Rosa may have been the one to kill Vanus, but Oscar was the one who destroyed her. Oscar felt that attack completely destroy all the bones in her back.
"Oscar, it's okay. You had to do it." Ozpin said. Oscar said nothing back to him. He knew that was what he was going to say. He knew that she was a Sith and a danger. But that didn't alleviate the pain she felt, and by extension, he had felt.
Oscar saw the Sith and raised his hand. Oscar sent a force wave down the hallway, taking all the Sith off their feet. Oscar felt the wood of his lightsaber calling to him. It rumbled. He could almost hear it.
"It's okay to defend yourself."
Oscar closed his eyes. He knew it was true. He knew that he had to defend himself. He knew that he had to kill. He knew that if he didn't kill the others they would kill him. But that didn't make it right! He should be able to save life. All life was precious! Even his enemies.
The Sith started to get back up. Nora turned to Oscar.
"Are you okay?" Nora asked.
"How can I be with this carnage all around us?" Oscar asked. Pyrrha fired into a Sith troop.
"They are the enemy." Nora said.
"I know. I wish we didn't have to do this. But I know I have to." Oscar said. He blocked a blaster bolt and sent it back to the shooter. He grimaced. That unknown Sith was the first person Oscar had killed. He had to do it, but he killed someone now.
"Oscar, your compassion will get you killed." Ozpin said. "You are a good person. This doesn't make you any less so." Ozpin said.
"I know that!" Oscar said. They turned to him but realized he was talking to Ozpin. They turned their attention back on the Sith. They weren't getting any more reinforcements from the look of it.
"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you what I was going to make you do." Ozpin said. Oscar said nothing.
Raven was trying to keep their teamwork to a minimum, but that was hard when you had five fighters of their level. She brought out her lightsaber and her sword. She was having to duel wield to keep ahead of them. She was being pushed back and she knew it.
Raven brought her lightsaber up and blocked an attack from Blake. She jumped back and spun around to slash at Weiss. Ruby rushed forward, grabbing Weiss out of the way of the attack. Rosa sent a blast of wind at Raven. She was hit and sent flying into the wall behind her. She got back up and rolled out of the way of Yang's attack. Blake jumped from behind and slashed at Raven. She brought her lightsaber back and blocked the strike. Ruby rushed in after Blake and brought both her lightsabers up. Raven brought her sword and lightsaber up, but Ruby broke the blade.
Raven jumped back and put the sword away for now. She turned and saw Weiss and Yang rushing at the same time. She brought her hand to the ground, and a wall of ice came up. Rosa rushed through the wall, encircling herself in a fire. Rosa spun around in the air and brought her lightsabers down on Raven. Raven blocked the strike and unleashed a blast of force lighting into Rosa. Rosa flew backward, slamming against the vault wall. Raven turned her attention back to Ruby and Blake.
Sweat began to drop from her face. She started to breathe more heavily. Ruby was faster and on top of Raven. She had to focus on her. She blocked the strikes as best as she could. She felt a glancing blow hit her armor. Raven felt her leg get wrapped up. She dropped one hand to the ground and burnt the ribbon. Ruby landed and jumped up to Raven's height. She spun around, slamming the pommel of her lightsaber into Raven's face. Raven stumbled back. Yang broke the ice wall and was soon on top of Raven. Raven blocked high for her opening strike, then brought her lightsaber low to block the next strike. She broke a lock and stepped backward. Weiss's lightsaber almost got her, but it cut the strap of her gauntlet. It fell to the ground. Raven felt a burn on her arm. Rosa was in the air and quickly moving toward her. She brought out her sword to block the attack. Rosa's spinning drop kick slammed into the sword and shattered the blade.
Raven felt the energy as she slammed into the ground. She started to struggle to get up. She had to keep pushing herself. She had to make sure she wasn't going easy on the kids. They had to prove themselves!
Raven was standing back up. She brought her lightsaber back up. She changed the crystal to Red. Less handling for more power. They had to face everything. She stood at the gate of the vault.
"I'm still not done." Raven said.
"We won't lose." Yang said. She understood what this was. Somehow, Raven understood that Yang knew what this was. Raven felt the pressure building up. She felt the ground shake beneath her. She started gathering energy into herself. Not dark or light, but somewhere in between.
She felt electric currents bouncing all around her. She was gathering the last of her strength for this next bout. The air became louder. The girls knew the end of this fight was coming. The plants around started to grow. Rocks began to float. She took out a water blade and smashed it. The water dust became water and encircled Raven.
Her red eyes began to glow. Not the color of one who was a servant of the dark side, but her natural red. Yang's red. She wasn't lost in the darkness anymore. She knew who she was. She knew what she should have been. She was Yang's mother, but not her mom. That was Summer. She knew she made so many mistakes that had just hurt everyone around her.
She accepted her mistakes. She gained power from that. She was sure of herself now. She was sure that she had the power to do what was needed.
Raven launched forward, bringing her sword out, and slashed at Yang. Yang flew back. She slammed into the cave wall. Rosa was next. Rosa brought her lightsabers together to defend herself. Raven slashed at Rosa. She was shocked by the electricity and flew backward. Blake rushed in and got a few good hits in with her sword. Raven blocked her lightsaber. Raven felt the power starting to leave her. She had to finish this quickly. She blocked a strike from Blake and brought her knee up into Blake's face. She fell back, skidding along the ground. Weiss was up next. Her defenses were good enough normally, but Raven was a different caliber.
Weiss blocked a strike, but because of the force of the attack, her footing was lost. Raven punched Weiss, sending her away. Ruby was the last one. Ruby was fast and blocking the strikes Raven sent at her. She was barely blocking them, but she did all the same. Raven began to feel all her energy leave her. She felt the taxations she put on her muscles. Ruby smiled at her.
"What is it?" Raven asked.
"I think you forgot something." Ruby said. She jumped up. Raven turned around and saw Yang. Her entire body was glowing and there was fire behind her. Her eyes were red, then they turned back to Lilac.
Raven felt the other girls getting back up. They were hurt, yes, but they didn't stop. She smiled. She wished she knew the kind of Woman Yang grew up to be. Raven could see behind Yang the outline of Summer standing there.
"You can trust them." Summer said.
Yang slammed into her mother full force. Raven was flung backward, slamming through the rock walls that Weiss had summoned. She stopped rolling right at the entrance of the vault. She heard her aura break. Raven tried to get up and spat. There was blood there. She smiled as Yang walked to her.
"Have we proven ourselves yet, Mother?" Yang said.
"You did. Magnificent job." Raven said. She looked at Yang and smiled. She looked at the relic.
"I'm going to grab it now." Yang said. She stepped through into the desert. Raven was able to lean against the wall. Her head was killing her. Or maybe it was her ribs. Yang hit hard. She brought her hand down and checked for blood. Thankfully, there wasn't any.
"We beat you, Raven." Ruby said.
"Yes, you did." Raven said.
"You have to go in hiding now. If the Sith found you, they will come down on you soon." Weiss said.
"I know that. Already dealing with that." Raven said.
"You have to find a way to start being a real mother." Blake said. Raven just shook her head.
"I'm proud of her." Raven said. "She's got one hell of a jab. Must have got it from Tai."
"Are you as tired as I am?" Rosa asked. She was leaning on Blake, barely able to move.
"Probably." Raven said. "I can't move right now."
Yang stared at the relic. She saw The Relic take the shape of a golden ornamented lamp with a blue sphere in the middle. She felt the heat of the desert on her skin. But she also knew this place wasn't found on Remnant. She stepped forward and saw the massive relic floating in the air.
"How are we going to move that around?" Yang asked. There was a pedestal in the ground that raised up. Yang watched as it stopped moving. She stepped over to it and looked at it.
"Relic of Knowledge." Yang read. She placed her hand and the pedestal. She closed her eyes and saw back in time. She saw a being of light so bright she had to cover her eyes. She saw out of a yellow star the relic's gold was crafted. Out of a blue star that appeared, the body of the relic was created. She had no idea what any of that meant or if it was literal or metaphorical.
She saw in the heart of the blue star something was being created. Something alive. Words were given to the creature. Yang could see it had eyes. Felt the force in this thing. She saw eyes everywhere. All throughout space and time. She had no idea what was happening. She couldn't understand it.
But she somehow knew she was seeing the creation of the relic.
She saw the light being descend with a being of darkness. She saw that they went to Remnant. These gods weren't the only ones she saw on the face of Remnant. These two had the four relics. A lamp, a crown, a lance, and a sword. She saw the relics being spread.
Then the vision vanished.
"What was that?" Yang asked. The lamp was in front of her, and it had changed size. She grabbed onto the relic. She had no idea if it really used to be stars, or if that was just metaphorical, but she did know that she held the relic in her hands. She could feel it. She could hold it. She could carry it.
Yang turned to her friends and walked back out of the Vault. Raven was at the door. She looked at it and saw the relic she held. Raven caught her breath as she saw it.
"Are you strong enough to carry that?" Raven asked.
"Oh, shut up! You don't know the first thing about strength! You turn your back on people, you run away when things get too hard, you put others in harm's way instead of yourself!" Yang said. Raven looked away from Yang. She nodded her head.
"You're right." Raven said. Yang was surprised to hear that.
"Summer was always stronger than me. Not because she was a Jedi or any of that." Raven said. Yang turned back to Raven to see if she would finish. Raven didn't say anything else.
"You're not hopeless though. Rosa's proof of that. No one is hopeless." Yang said. She looked down at Raven. "Not even you."
"Thank you, Yang." Raven said. Yang grabbed Raven and picked her up.
"Come on. You need to get out of here as well." Yang said. Raven said nothing. They got to the elevator and began to go back up to the surface. Raven didn't say anything. She couldn't move either. Ruby turned to Weiss.
"Weiss, can you carry me too?" Ruby said with a smile on her face.
"You don't seem to need it." Weiss said.
"But what if I said my legs hurt?" Ruby asked.
"The answer's still no." Weiss said.
"Come on, Ruby. Don't be lazy." Yang said. Ruby turned around.
"It was just a joke." Ruby said.
"Sure, it was." Blake said. Rosa snored. Blake turned her head and realized Rosa had fallen asleep. Blake smiled.
"Get some rest, Rosa." Blake said.
The Sith were routed. Asha led her troops to victory at Haven. Winter defeated the White Fang at the base of the mountain. The last part that still needed to be secured was the middle.
Boil was leading the troops through the city. They were being covered by the Atlesian Knights, the older model. They were keeping the enemy distracted, but they did little besides that. Boil was getting his men to get the Civilians out of the city.
He got to an intersection with multiple destroyed vehicles. Boil slid to cover behind one of the vehicles. He brought his hand up and stopped his men.
"Get some light in the middle." Boil said. One of his men tossed a flare. A Grimm was in the middle of the street. It turned around and screamed at the clones. It looked like an Aiwha from Kamino. The thing let out a roar and rushed at them. It jumped over the cover Boil was behind and slammed into one of the clones. Boil ordered them to open fire.
The squad surrounded the Grimm and fired at it. It let out some screeches, but didn't last long. As it faded, Boil went over to the body of the clone. He was dead. Boil closed his eyes and lowered his head.
"We have to keep moving." Boil said. Beowolf Grimm filled the streets. They were fighting a group of insurgents.
"Guess they aren't friendly." One of the clones said.
"Guess not. Focus on the mission." Boil said. The clones started to move along the streets when they saw a man standing there. They turned the lights on their helmets on and turned to the man. He smiled at them.
"Good evening gentlemen. Lady Salem has asked that I leave you with a present. How do you like it?" He said.
"Who are you?" Boil asked. They all had their blaster trained on him.
"Don't worry. Just, be mindful." He said. He created a portal behind him. They realized he was Sith. They started firing. The man didn't take out a lightsaber. He just held his hand up and absorbed all the blasts. He took out a vial filled with dark liquid and transferred the energy over to that. He dropped the vial.
"Oh, and tell Umbra that we will have our revenge." He stepped through the portal. The vial became a massive Grimm. It almost looked like a Rancor. The Grimm grabbed one of the cars and threw it at the clones.
"Get to cover!" Boil shouted. He went behind a building. He really wished Waxer and General Kenobi were here. He took a breath and turned the corner. He fired at the thing. It shrugged off the attack.
"General Schnee, we have a Rancor Grimm in the city." Boil said.
"A what?" Winter asked.
"A big monster that's going to take a lot before it dies. Big, ugly, and deadly." Boil said.
"I'll deal with it." Winter said.
Winter turned to the masters. They shook their heads.
"You should be able to handle a Grimm, no matter how big." Master Fir said.
Winter rushed down to the docking bay ordering her officers as she ran. She got to the bay and found an LAAT with a squad of Commandos and Jedi knight Karel Allusis.
"Sorry, it took so long to get ready." Karel said. Winter stepped on the ship.
"Pilot, go to clone trooper Boil." Winter said. Winter turned to the clones. "What is a Rancor?"
"Big, ugly, and deadly thing. Five to ten meters tall. Sharp claws and teeth. Tough too. But I don't believe they're native." Beat of Team Epsilon said.
"Trooper Boil reports a Grimm that looks like one." Winter said. Cy turned to her. She could feel anger and apprehension radiating off him.
"What is it?" Winter asked.
"One killed my last team." Cy said. Winter nodded her head.
"We have a job to do." Winter said.
Boil continued to fire on the Rancor. He and his remaining men were losing ground to it. It had crushed two of his men and slashed another three. The weak spot on a regular rancor, in between the nose and eyes, was covered here.
"Throw every grenade you have at it." Boil commanded. They did so. The grenades exploded, but it was still moving. Boil heard the noises of more Grimm coming.
"It's not dying!" One of his remaining troops said.
"We can't just let it go through the city!" Boil said. Boil heard the noises of what sounded like an Acklay. But that wasn't possible either since that wasn't native to Remnant. It was native to Felucia! But he saw it burst through an archway. It was a Grimm version as well.
"General Schnee, we have another Grimm not native to Remnant. This one is an Acklay." Boil reported. It was out in front of the Rancor Grimm.
"We're getting more reports from around the city of similar occurrences. We're preparing the Anti-Grimm weapons now." Winter reported back. The LAAT appeared in view now. It launched two light missiles. They slammed into the Rancor Grimm. They landed and left the LAAT.
A squad of regular clones exited the LAAT first, then the commando squad.
Winter and Karel turned on their lightsabers as they left the LAAT.
"General Schnee and I will focus on the big one. You clones take care of that big bug thing." Karel said.
"Understood." Boil said. Beat and Tip started lying down suppressing fire at the Acklay Grimm. The LAAT lifted up and fired more light missiles at a group of Grimm that were coming toward them. Regular Beowolfs.
Winter was moving first. She used glyphs to speed her way forward. She jumped in the air above the swing of the Rancor Grimm. She felt the flesh of the Grimm on her feet and felt a mucus-like layer above the flesh.
Karel slid below the Grimm and brought his lightsaber up along the tail of the Grimm. The top of the tail came off. The Grimm let out a roar.
"This thing's fat makes it harder to swing." Karel said. Winter grabbed onto one of the small spikes on the back of the Rancor. It was dry. It looked like the spikes were meant to be used as a defense. She brought her lightsaber down into the back of the Grimm. It let out a roar and flexed. The muscles pushed Winter off the spike. She slid down its back and landed next to Karel, a layer of mucus on her.
"Great. Just what I needed." Winter mumbled under her breath.
Karel brought his hand up and sent a force push at the Grimm. It lifted off the ground and slammed into a building. The building was destroyed. Winter turned to Karel.
"I thought it would be heavier." Karel said.
"It's still a Grimm." Winter said. She jumped back at the same time as Karel and avoided the claw.
Boil reloaded his blaster, but he was running low on ammo. His blaster was starting to get overheated as well. But they were taking care of the Acklay Grimm. It was getting slower. Cross was in position next to Boil.
"You ought to give that a break." Cross said.
"I know." Boil said. Cross fired, but at the last second, the Acklay shifted. The bolt glanced off the outer shell. Cros grumbled.
"Why does the weak spot have to be so small?" Cross asked.
"Are you complaining?" Tip asked.
"Yes." Cross said.
"That's something we don't hear every day." Beat said. He switched over to the grenade launcher mode and fired at the Acklay. It landed but didn't kill. The shell did have a massive crack on it. The clones started focusing on the crack. The Acklay stepped back and swiped at the clones.
"Keep away from those things!" Boil shouted. The claw left a massive mark on the ground. Cy launched another grenade at the Grimm in the same spot as Beat. Cross fired again and hit the mask.
"Direct hit. But it's still alive." Boil said.
"I see that." Cross said.
"Just making sure." Boil said, a small smile hidden by his helmet.
The Acklay rushed at the clones. One of them wasn't fast enough to avoid the claw and was skewered. Cross fired another time at the mask. The Acklay dropped, but it wasn't dead yet. Cross handed boil a grenade. Boil threw it and it landed on the neck of the Acklay.
"Are you sure that will kill it?" Boil asked.
"No, but it will make you feel better." Cross said. The grenade went off, and the head of the Acklay Grimm went flying. It landed at Boil's feet. He stepped back. Cross stood up and slapped Boil's back.
"Good throw." Cross said.
Karel jumped out of the way of the claw. He was trying to make more room between himself and the Grimm, but it was big enough that it made up the space quickly enough. He jumped back, feeling his feet on a building, and then he pushed off it. He brought his lightsaber down in a plunge and stuck it in the Rancor's shoulder. He tried to get the lightsaber out, but it was stuck. He opened his eyes wide. He let go of his lightsaber and dropped to the ground, avoiding the claw of the Rancor.
He raised his hand and used the force to grab his lightsaber out of the Grimm. It was stuck good in there. He sighed. He took out his secondary blade, a purple-bladed lightsaber. His blue blade was still on and hummed in the shoulder.
"You had a second one?" Winter asked, standing back and summoning Grimm to fight the Rancor.
"I got a few others as well." Karel said. He rolled out the way of another strike. The building he was standing behind was left with a massive gash in it. Karel remembered hearing that some human Jedi could live long past 100, but he wondered how they ever got to live that long. The Rancor grabbed one of Winter's summons and bit the head off.
"That's not going to work." Cy said. He and the rest of the commandos fired grenades at the Rancor Grimm. Cross hit the mask, cracking it. The Rancor turned and roared at the clones. Winter shook her head.
"Thanks. Any weak spots?" Winter asked.
"Right below the mask." Cy said. Cy and Cross both hit the mask again, creating a large crack in it.
"I'll grab its attention. General Schnee, you need to kill this thing." Karel said.
"Understood." Winter said. Karel skidded in front of the Rancor Grimm and used the force once again to grab his lightsaber. It was covered in Slime. The Rancor looked down at Karel.
Winter used the force to jump as high as she could. She was in the air. Karel jumped and avoided a swing from the Grimm. Karel landed and sent a force push up at the head of the Grimm.
The Grimm's head looked at the sky. Winter was in front of the moon. She spun and brought her lightsaber in front of her. She brought her hand back and sent a force push behind her. She flung toward the Grimm. The blue light slammed into the face mask of the Grimm. The white bone mask shattered. The Grimm let out a cry. The smell was terrible. The cry was powerful. Winter held onto her lightsaber with both hands as her clothes and hair flapped in the wind. She took out her lightsaber and brought out her sword. She slammed it into the head of the Grimm. She stood up and gathered the force into her hands. She brought her fists down into the pommel of the blade. The sword went further into the Grimm.
It stopped making sound. It dropped to its knees. Winter jumped off and rolled along the ground. Karel stood over Winter and created a force bubble. The Rancor Grimm started to fade away. Winter stood up and knew she had a powerful new summon. She heard her sword clang on the ground. She used the force to grab it.
"That was disgusting." Witner said. She still felt the mucus on her. She wiped some away and saw the mucus was made of pure darkness. It too began to fade just like the Grimm itself.
"The insurgents have been defeated." Winter turned to the troops.
The insurgents were being gathered together in one area, but the Grimm. They all fled back to the city hall to make a last stand. They were able to defeat the Grimm that gathered, but when the light missiles were launched, those who had been given the dark poison all felt the darkness leave them.
The true insurgents were quickly surrounded by the Alliance forces. They started fighting, but it was a quick fight. They were completely outnumbered and were quickly overrun. Winter got on the next LAAT. Asha Kael was at Haven and led the defeat of the Sith forces. Winter turned to Karel.
"I need you to go to the city hall and make sure everything is in order there. I'm headed to Haven." Winter said.
"Yes, General." Karel said. He took the non-commando clones. Winter took team Epsilon with her. She felt that their business in Mistral was going to become far more complicated.
She saw the school and felt Weiss there. She hoped everything went as well as they hoped it would. She heard the reports coming in from all over the city. Ghira and Ilia had confirmed that the White Fang presence in the city was gone. It appeared that only Adam Taurus, or Lord Kaiser, had escaped. But the other leaders were either confirmed dead, or missing. They had some White Fang troops surrender to the Alliance forces and would have to deal with prisoners. They confirmed that most of the White Fang here weren't clones. She also confirmed that all the older Atlesian knights were destroyed by either insurgents or the many Grimm that had entered the city.
The LAAT landed and Winter got off first. She saw General Kael in the courtyard of the school. Asha turned to Winter and walked over.
"We've got the city locked down. We're going to have to do an investigation on how the Sith got here." Asha said.
"I agree. I assume you want that for yourself?" Winter asked.
"Yes." Asha said.
"Understood." Winter said.
"That's it? No 'Atlas will help however it can' or any of that?" Asha asked.
"I'm not the general over Atlas. Ironwood is." Winter said.
"I know. But you should still have some sway in Atlas. I just thought you were going to make another overreach in Mistral's time of need." Asha said.
"Asha, I am not trying to expand or colonize. I am here to defend." Winter said.
"Find. Your sister is inside the school main entrance. Our men found Lionheart. He was dead and suffered." Asha said.
"The Sith." Winter said.
"My thoughts as well." Asha took a step back and went back to her men.
Winter turned back to the school and went in. She saw Weiss there, along with her friends. And Qrow. She tried not to look at him. Weiss stood up and hugged Winter. She wasn't expecting that.
"We beat them." Weiss said.
"Yes. We did for tonight." Winter looked and saw Rosa Reidan there. And the bandit Raven Branwen.
"Rosa's back on our side." Weiss said. Rosa was sleeping soundly. Raven was leaning against a wall. Raven glanced at Winter and turned away.
"Hope you don't think I'll be quietly arrested." Raven said.
"You could join us." Yang said.
"I doubt the alliance will have much use for someone like me." Raven said.
"I can't say yet. Perhaps we do." Winter said. "We will need you to leave Mistral."
"Already doing that. My men should have already left." Raven said.
"Including the Spring Maiden?" Winter asked.
"She's the spring maiden." Yang said. "The five of us beat her. Rosa is the Fall Maiden. She killed Vanus."
"She did? We've got a lot to go over." Winter said. She was going to have a massive debrief with the other generals. The thought of getting a meeting with all the generals gave her a headache.
Raven couldn't take out her sword to create a portal so she couldn't run away. She didn't have the energy to change into a bird. Winter looked at Oscar.
"Have we met before?" Winter asked.
"I don't think you were in the meeting with Ironwood. I'm Oscar Pine, or as you might know, Ozpin." Oscar said. He said the word Ozpin with a tone almost of disdain for Ozpin in his voice. She raised her eyebrow.
"Don't mind me." Oscar said. "Sorry. I'm just…"
"Are you okay?" Ruby asked.
"Yes." Oscar said.
"We'll give you the night. Tomorrow we're going to need to debrief. We'll pick you up at the docks." Winter said. She looked at the state of the main hall. She went up the stairs and saw all the holes in the floor and all the bodies in the hall.
"I'm going to know what happened here. This room is almost destroyed." Winter said.
"That may be partially our bad." Ruby said. Winter turned around.
"How?" Winter asked. She saw the body of Vanus on the ground. Troops came into the school with body bags.
"What happened to her back?" Winter asked herself.
"That was me." Oscar said. "It was part of Ozpin's plan."
"We'll talk more tomorrow. We need to make sure the body is secured." Winter said.
Rosa tossed and turned. She wasn't in her bed back at Haven. She wasn't in the bed back in the dark lands. She cracked open an eye and saw that she was in a bed in a completely different place. She got up and saw she was still in her Sith attire.
"Where am I?" Rosa asked. She held her head. It was hurting. She got out of bed and saw a closet. She opened it and saw… it was empty.
She felt the lightsabers at her side. Then everything from last night came back to her. She killed Vanus. She became the fall maiden. She rejoined Team RRWBY. She threw open the door and saw a hallway. She smelled someone cooking something. She needed something to eat.
She went back to the room and took off as much as she could of the Sith robes. She opened a window and tossed them out. She snapped, and the robes started to burn. She was wearing a black shirt underneath and decided to go barefoot. She needed to get new clothes soon. She stepped down the stairs and saw… Ren cooking.
"Ren?" Rosa asked. Ren turned around with his apron on.
"Good morning, Rosa." Ren said. Rosa just looked at him. She couldn't fully comprehend that this was real. Ren just smiled.
"Yang and Weiss went out to get you some new clothes." Ren said. He turned around and grabbed a plate of pancakes. He handed it to Rosa. She just looked at it.
"Please tell me I'm not dreaming." Rosa said. "Please tell me this won't all just melt away and I'll wake up back in Haven."
Nora appeared out of nowhere and wrapped an arm around Rosa's neck. Rosa turned to her and had the biggest smile.
"You're awake. With us." Nora said.
"It feels real." Rosa said. Nora pinched Rosa's arm, kind of hard.
"Ow." Rosa said.
"See, that would have wakened you up from your dreams." Nora said. Pyrrha stepped next into the kitchen and helped Ren with the plates. Pyrrha turned around and smiled at Rosa.
"We're glad you're back." Pyrrha said.
"Nora, let Rosa have a plate before you eat everything." Jaune said. He tossed Rosa a Jedi robe. She looked at it.
"I'm no Jedi, Jaune." Rosa said.
"You're no Sith either. We have a bunch of these. We can modify some for you later. You just need something now." Jaune said. Rosa held onto the robes. She nodded. She laughed as she held them.
"Thanks, everyone." Rosa said. Rosa raised her hand and placed it on the robes. The robes began to sparkle as tiny specks of dust filled the gaps. The dust then moved to form a symbol. Rosa's Emblem, the emblem of her youngling clan. The emblem of the Katarn clan was on the back of her new set of robes. She found the sleeves and tore them off.
"Why'd you do that?" Jaune asked.
"Mobility. Don't worry, I'll wear something underneath." Rosa said. Jaune's face started to turn red.
"Teasing me already?" Jaune said. Rosa may not have considered herself a Jedi anymore… but maybe… maybe she could start to make up for her mistakes.
She decided to put it on and see for herself how they fit. She didn't wear the cloak, but she wore the other things. She was back in her room, after having eaten her plate of pancakes. She remembered how to put the robes on. The Sith robes were slightly different, but the muscle memory kicked in. She put the robes on and knew that these weren't going to stay. She had to figure something else out. She had been wondering about doing something similar to Blake and Nora. Maybe one day she would wear the robes again. Not likely, but maybe she would.
Weiss and Yang arrived. They rushed into Rosa's room and showed her what they got her. Rosa shook her head as she knew that Yang and Weiss weren't going to leave her alone until she got into her outfit. Just like old times.
Author's Notes: Raven vs Team RRWBY was close. It pushed everyone to their limits. Rosa is learning how to use her newfound powers. The Sith were beaten back, and we got to see the power level of one of the generals of the Alliance. And Winter herself got a big boost too.
Karel was here too.
The battle of Haven is over, and the Jedi won. The Sith are reeling, but I don't think it will last too long. Now the group has to decide what they're going to do with the relic by their side, and Rosa now being the top target of Salem and the Sith.
Raven also has to figure out what she's going to do now. Raven gave it everything she had, but Team RRWBY was just too much for her.
With Rosa back on the team, this does change some things for the story. Originally she was going to kill Vanus, but the power would corrupt her. She wouldn't stay a Sith, but she wouldn't be on the same side as the Sith. She would have been a rouge party.
Raven was going to leave before seeing Qrow, but now that has changed. I didn't have the part of the clones fighting the Grimm, but I wanted to give Winter a scene like I gave to Asha. So she got to fight a Grimm Rancor, and now has it as a summon.
There was a review last time from Atomicboo131. Thank you for reviewing again.
I hope that I can keep you and everyone else entertained with this story. I hope this chapter was as exciting as you hoped it was going to be.
