Hiya everyone, I hope you are all having abgood day! I'm still trying to figure out a good uploading schedule but don't worry, I haven't forgotten about my fanfiction. As mentioned in the ending of last chaper I took down 'Web of a Vigilante' because I want to make it better. It will be out again eventually. Any who, enjoy the chapter!
Chapter 29: First Encounter
Izuku watches as the man's hand gets closer and closer to Tsuyu's face. He can still hear Aizawa going against the other villains, but having difficulty with his injured elbow. The boy tries to focus on getting oxygen into his lungs while thinking of what to do. He manages to stand up but it's already too late. Izuku and Mineta let out cries of fear as they see Tsuyu crying silently.
To the surprise of everyone, nothing happens to the frog girl. Izuku is confused at first then sees Aizawa stairing at the man from behind. He is barley holding his own while keeping his eyes on the other man.
"You're so cool Erasure, but the fun is just about to start now. Nomu!"
The sound of a loud roar is heard and what appears to be a monster shows up from seemingly no where. The creature is huge and muscular with dark blue skin and a beak mouth lined with sharp teeth. The disturbing part is that it's brain is exposed on top of it's head and it's eyes are blood shot with no look of emotion. Izuku knows that if that thing gets to Aizawa than his classmate will be seriously injured or worse. In that moment, he fights through the ache and starts to perform recovery breathing like how Rengoku showed him.
In a near instant, the monster is right above Aizawa making him brace for an attack. The greenette watched as his homeroom teacher was about to be smashed while keeping his student protected. Suddenly, Izuku could feel his heart beating like crazy as he started to sweat more. It was like everything around him was slowing down drastically. It reminded him of when the same thing happened during his first fight with Katsuki when they were kids.
He didn't waste time in pondering what was happening as he shot forward. His breathing is uneven and every step he takes makes it feel like his lungs will pop. The look of fear on Tsuyu's face is more than enough to make him power through the pain. To his shock the man is already reacting to his approuch despite the speed he's in. Izuku quickly draws his blade and slashes upward at the man's elbow.
"Flame Breathing, second form: Rising Scorching Sun!"
Just as the monster pounced on Aizawa and forced him into the ground, Izuku managed to sever the hand man's arm at the elbow. Not wanting to stay close he picks up Tsuyu and uses total concentration to leap away from him. He doesn't jump as far as the frog girl but it's enough to get away. Tsuyu is in shock at the though of almost having her face crumble away. Izuku is breathing heavily at using flame breathing and total concentration for different movements.
"Gaaaah! You little brat! What hero mutilates another person?!"
Izuku watches in horror as the man's arm begins to slowly grow back from the elbow. The regeneration is disgustingly slow and look to be painful for the man. The roar from the monster snaps Izuku back to reality as he tries to think of a plan. The man with hands on him seems to have more than one quirk which isn't unusual but extremely rare. He sets Tsuyu on the ground and grips his blade with both hands.
"Asui, I need you and Mineta to get Mr. Aizawa away from here after my signal. Make sure to stay away from the other guy too. Try to use Mineta'a balls to imobilize him if possible."
It takes a moment for Tsuyu and Mineta to register what Izuku said as he runs towards the monster. The man with hands watches as he runs towards the monster that is holding Aizawa down to the broken ground. The other students are surprised that he isn't trying to stop Izuku.
"Foolish NPC. My master made Nomu to be on par with All Might! He will be the one to kill The Symbol of Peace!"
Izuku widens his eyes at hearing the man say that about the monster. It doesn't matter that it could take on All Might, he just has to distract it and help his teacher. As he gets closer to the monster he sees it smash Aizawa's face into the ground with a sickening crunch. When he is within reach he swings the blade at the monsters hand with a battle cry. To his shock the blade doesn't do any damage. Getting over his shock quickly, he sees the monster swing it's fist at him.
The fear in his body keeps Izuku from moving as the fist gets closer. Time comes to a stop as memories flash through his mind. He can see himself as a younger kid first meeting Iroh. Then he can see the two of them when Rengoku visited the Jasmine Dragon. Suddenly the first time he met Kyoka pops into his head. He can see her bright smile as if she was standing in front of him.
'Why am I thinking of Kyoka at a time like this?'
While lost in thought Izuku didn't notice that he was sent flying away. He didn't feel any pain like he expected from the punch, but he suddenly noticed Aizawa's capture weapon wrapped around his waist. Even though the hero was being beaten badly, he still managed to save his life from a death punch. As he is pulled away from the monster it grabs Aizawa's arm and the man grunts in pain. A loud crunch is heard as his arms is broken and facing the opposite way.
Izuku lands on his feet and watches in horror as his teacher tries not to yell in pain. Something in Izuku snaps as he sees his teacher go through extreme lengths to keep him and the others safe. His heart beat starts to rise as he visibly sweats more. The look of anger on Izuku's face made the other lower rank villains spines tingle. There is a burning sensation on the boy's face and forehead but he manages to ignore it.
In great speed he rushes the monster again while Aizawa tells him to get away. The way that his body feels is different than when he trained before. His sword feels like it weighs hundreds of pounds but he manages to hold on to it. He manages to avoid a swipe by the monsters hand and swings his blade down on it. He knows that he won't do much damage if anything, but all he needs to do is make an opening for Tsuyu and Mineta.
"Flame Breathing, third form: Blazing Universe!"
Izuku feels different when unleashing his attack on the monster's hand. His body and sword feel like they are connected. When the blade makes contact with the monster's hand, he is surprised to see it cut clean through. The roar from the monster makes Izuku's ears ring, but his adrenaline rush keeps him on his feet. Tsuyu takes that moment to shoot her tongue out towards Aizawa to pull him away. The monster sees the tongue and ignores it's missing hand to snatch the girls tongue.
"Flame Breathing, first form: Unknowing Fire!"
The second attack cuts cleanly through the monster's other hand. Izuku lets out a breath with smoke leaving his mouth. The veins on his hands and face are buldging with flowing blood. The frog girl manages to grab Aizawa and pull him away while Mineta throws his balls at the monster's feet and around them. Izuku starts to feel the strain on his body as his lungs ache when he tries to breath. What happens next makes his eyes widen in shock and despair.
The monster's hands regenerate just like the man covered in hands. Izuku can't believe that thing can also regenerate. Izuku falls to his knees breathing heavily while using his blade to keep himself up. The man with the hands holds up one of his hands and the monster stays still. The man walks closer to Izuku while violently scratching his neck. There is blood and bits of flesh falling from where he scratches.
"What the hell was that? No one has managed to hurt Nomu like that, even with strong quirks. A shitty sword should've broke against his skin!"
Izuku is having trouble catching his breath as the man gets closer. He can barely keep his eyes open let alone move. He doesn't feel the heat from before and every breath feels like he's breathing in fire without his quirk. The man gets closer to him and slowly takes off the hand that was covering his face. Once Izuku sees the man's face all the color drains away from his own. The man has sickly greyish skin, light blue hair, eyes that have slits and are a mix of green and red, with his teeth being pointed.
"Before I kill you, I will tell you my name. I am the one who will bring hero society down. The world will remember the name Tomura Shigaraki."
He reaches his hand towards Izuku's face with a manic smile. Before his hand makes contact with Izuku's face there is a loud explosion heard by the entrance. Debris is flying everywhere but somehow doesn't crush anyone. Izuku could feel tears in his eyes as he sees the man he's idolized since a young boy.
"Do not fear, why? Because I am here!"
All Might's voices booms over all the commotion that the villains are causing. In a blur he is already down the large stairs along with knocking many villains unconscious. Shigaraki looks at the display of power with wide eyes making him stop his hand from moving towards Izuku's face. The monster quickly raises it's arms to block a powerful punch from the blonde hero. The shock wave from the blow is more than enough to send Izuku and Shigaraki flying away from them.
While in the air, Izuku is snatched and pulled to safety by Tsuyu's tongue. Shigaraki twists his body while mid air and lands on his feet a good distance away. All Might and the Nomu start to trade blows that cause many shock waves to form around them. The wind makes it difficult for anyone to move. Shigaraki does his best to get closer to Izuku and the others.
Izuku can barely move with his arms and legs feeling like they weigh tons. To top that off his lungs feel like they will burst any moment. Tsuyu is doing her best to keep him awake while Mineta is checking on Aizawa. The sound of the Nomu and All Might trading blows is almost deafening. Izuku is baffled at how strong the Nomu is and it's ability to keep up with All Might. While the shock waves keep coming he looks around for Shigaraki.
'There is no doubt about it. Everything in my body is telling me that guy doesn't just have a dangerous quirk... He's a demon...'
The regeneration along with the speed and strength of the man is proof enough. Izuku's mind is spiraling trying to think of what to do. If there is a demon attacking his class, does that mean there are more? Why would they attack a class of heroes in training instead of civilians? Izuku can't think straight due to the strain of using total concentration for too long. In the corner of his eye he can see Shigaraki glaring at the Symbol of Peace before looking back at him.
The man slowly starts to walk through the blaring winds, getting closer to Izuku and the others. Suddenly the wind stops as everyone sees All Might and the Nomu fighting in the air. Shigaraki takes the moment to run at the group of students and injured teacher. The last thing that Izuku sees is the man's hand getting closer and closer to his face before everything goes black. Before he drifts away he can hear the click of his sword being drawn.
-U.A Infirmary-
Izuku snaps awake and quickly sits up with a surprised yelp. He quickly looks around and sees that he is back in Recovery Girl's office. The elder hero is sitting at her desk and writing stuff down on a clip board. Before he can talk the woman throws a small bag of chips on the bed he's resting on. His stomach on que growls loudy as his face flushes.
"Before anything you should eat that. You got a few rough injuries during the attack. Don't worry everyone is safe with only a few cuts and bruises."
Izuku lets out a sigh of relief at hearing the good news. What bothers him now is that he can't remember much of what happened at the U.S.J. He can only recall what happened after cutting off the man's arm and saving Tsuyu. He sucks in a breath and winces at the pain in his lungs and sides. After a moment of letting the pain fade, he notices that the other beds also have some of his classmates.
Next to him are Kaminari, Iida, and Mineta who all wore bandages in different areas of their body. Izuku sees the bandages on Mineta's head and remembers what he said when they were on the ship with Tsuyu. The bandages on Iida's legs worry Izuku because he knows his legs are a large part of his quirk. Kaminari seems to be the one who recieved the most damage out of all of them. The electeic boy is covered in what looks to be burn marks and has bandages on his arms and face. He then notices his own wounds. Both his hands are bandaged with his head being wrapped and his legs as well.
"You really spooked everyone from what I heard what happened. I can't believe that Aizawa let you use your sword, but in the end I guess it's what helped."
Izuku is confused at what the older woman said and raises his hand to touch his forehead. There is a dull ache but he can feel that his body tempature is still higher than normal. Recovery Girl watches him for a moment and he looks up at her with far away eyes.
"What happened? I don't remember much that happened. Everything goes blank after we all got seperated."
Recovery Girl raises an eye brow at what he said and hums to herself. She carefully hops off her chair and walks over to Izuku's bed. When she is in front of him he notices that a heart shaped hair pin is keeping her hair bun in place. She picks up something that is leaning against the wall and holds it up for him to see. It's the blade that Rengoku gave him, but the noticeable part is that the blade is snapped in half. Izuku looks at the sword with wide eyes that are full of dread and regret.
"First, I want to know what that mark on your forehead is and how it got there."
And that is the end of chapter 29! I hope that you all enjoyed this chapter as much as I did typing it. I've been keeping this one in my head for awhile now. I willbe bringing back 'The Web of a Vigilante' soon but maybe under a different name. The story will still be similar too. See you all in the next chapter!
