Nathan walked Elizabeth to the library that morning to help her move some shelves before heading to the Mountie office. She was planning to work in the library all day. All of the books had been removed from the shelves, along with the new books that Elizabeth's mother had sent. Elizabeth was still trying to organize and determine where she wanted the books to go on the new shelves. Nathan gave her a long kiss before leaving and promised to meet her for lunch in the cafe.

When Nathan got to the Mountie office, Bill was already sitting at his desk. "Well, it's about time you arrived."

"I wasn't aware that you were keeping track of me, Bill," Nathan said as he hung up his hat on the hook. "You do know that it is my desk right?"

Bill stood up to go get coffee and Nathan went and sat in his chair. Once Bill had his coffee, he sat on the other side of the desk. "Have you heard anything back from headquarters?"

"No, nothing. I thought they would have set a trial date for Edward already."

"Any news on Charles whereabouts yet?"

"No, they still suspect that he is in Europe but one of my contacts thought he was back in Canada. No evidence to support that though," Nathan said. "Have you heard anything from any of your contacts?"

"I can't find anyone willing to talk about it. I know something is going on, but I can't find out what."

Bill had brought some of his files with him when he came to Nathan's office and he opened the top one. Nathan opened his bottom drawer of his desk and pulled out a file as well. As the two of them were going through the papers, the door to the office opened and Gabe walked in.

"Gabe? What are you doing here?" Nathan said.

Gabe walked in and shut the door behind him. He locked the door and turned to Nathan and Bill.

"What's wrong?" Bill asked.

Nathan looked to Bill and then to Gabe. Yes, something was definitely wrong. He could tell by the look on Gabe's face.

"I'm sorry Nathan. I got a call this morning and I was told to come straight here without calling or messaging you. Just know that I do not want to do this."

Gabe walked over to Nathan as Nathan stood from his chair. The two men stood facing each other as Gabe said, "Constable Nathan Grant. It is my responsibility to tell you that you are herby placed under arrest for the charge of assault of a prisoner in your custody, abuse of power, and theft."

Nathan bowed his head. It was Hargraves. It was Edward Morton and Charles Kensington. It was all coming back. Nathan thought it was over and he had let his guard down. Nathan held out his hands in front of him. He nodded to Gabe as he reached for the cuffs to put them on Nathan.

"Really Gabe, do we need to do this?"

"Bill, yes we do. You know we do. Everything needs to be by the book especially because of who we are going against." Nathan turned. "You should put me in the cell for now too," Nathan said to Gabe.

Gabe removed Nathan's holster and gun and laid it on the desk. He walked Nathan over to the cell and locked him inside. "I need to call to headquarters and let them know that I completed the assignment." Gabe walked back over to the desk to make the call.

"Bill? Can you go and tell Elizabeth? I was supposed to meet her for lunch and I don't want her to come looking for me and be shocked. She will be anyway, but maybe you can try to explain?" Nathan said.

"I will try, you know she will still insist to come here to see you though right?"

Nathan nodded.

Gabe walked back over. "I will stay here if you want to go find Elizabeth now. Maybe you should find Allie too?"

"Right, I will go find Elizabeth and when she comes over here like I think she will, I will find Allie."

"Thank you Bill." Nathan said.

Bill walked out of the office and Nathan spoke to Gabe, "what do you know?"

"Nothing actually. I just got a message this morning from a Superintendent in headquarters telling me exactly what I repeated to you. I asked for more information and he said that was all that was given to him. I asked who ordered it and he said he couldn't tell me that. He only said I was to execute the order in person without notifying anyone first and notify his office once complete. I just called and had to leave a message with his secretary because he was out for the rest of the day. Nathan, do you know what is going on?"

"Bill and I have suspicions but nothing that we can act on. I am assuming that someone is going to move me out of Hope Valley. Once they do, you and Bill will need to work on this to find out who is behind it. Rosemary is good at finding information if you need help. I'm sure Elizabeth will want to be involved as well. Her father may have information on people in Hamilton if needed. Actually, there are some files on the desk over there, can you take those and move them into the back room for now in case someone comes in here?" Nathan said.

Gabe walked over quickly picking up all the files. He moved them into a stack and went into the back room. He slid them under the mattress and promised Nathan to come back for them with Bill. Gabe pulled up a chair by the cell and asked Nathan to tell him what he suspected while they had a little time.

Elizabeth was picking up books from the floor and placing them on the bookshelf across from the door when she heard boots on the board walk outside. It was getting close to lunch time and she smiled as she turned. "Oh Bill, I'm sorry. I thought you were Nathan. He was supposed to be meeting me here to go over to the cafe for lunch. What can I do for you?"

"Let's sit down," Bill motioned for the two of them to sit at the table in the library next to one another.

"Bill, is everything alright?

"Nathan is not able to meet you for lunch today."

"That's ok, did he get stuck on rounds? Was he helping someone again? He likes to do that," Elizabeth said with a laugh.

"No, Elizabeth. It's not that." Bill said in a very serious voice.

It was the voice that sent a chill up Elizabeth's spine. Bill should have known how his words would be taken. "Just tell me he is alive."

"Oh, I'm sorry Elizabeth. It's not that. Physically he is fine."

"Then what is it? What's wrong?"

"Gabe is here. He got a call. He had to arrest Nathan," Bill said.

"Arrest him? But that's crazy. Nathan couldn't have done anything that he could get arrested for!"

"You and I both know that. We think that Superintendent Hargraves is behind it and it may have something to do with Edward and Charles. But we don't know for sure. For right now, Nathan is in a cell in the Mountie office until…"

Bill wasn't able to get the rest of his thoughts out as Elizabeth was already out the door, running towards the Mountie office.
