Konohagakure no Sato. 10th of October

The autumn's night was filled with cries of pain and suffering, the smell of death strong in the air, and sounds of ruin ruled the night. Tonight was the most devastating day for Konoha, for it had come under the attack of the most powerful and dangerous of Tailed Beasts- Kyuubi, or Nine-Tailed Fox. Unleashed upon the village from his confinement by a malicious person who sought to bring ruin to this village, NineTails had caused an unprecedented amount of damage to the village, leveling entire swaths of it by mere roaring. Nearly all of Konoha's Shinobi rose and answered the call of duty, striking at the beast with all their might and power, yet it all seemed to do nothing but irritate the beast even more. And the angrier he grew, the more and more loyal sons and daughters of Konoha fell to him, the tally already reaching past hundreds, and now several thousands of Shinobi had served their lives to this beast of calamity.

And all this time, the beast was under the control of the man that had unsealed him, the one who attacked Kushina Uzumaki just as she gave birth to her son, and was trying to kill Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage and husband to Kushina. The two seemed evenly matched for some time, yet victory ultimately was claimed by Minato, who managed to sever the connection between Kyuubi and this man, who claimed to be Madara Uchiha himself. Once it was done, however, Fox regained his freedom at last, and it was set to not be imprisoned again by anyone, with greater than before rage and power, it began to destroy Konoha, and in mere minutes it achieved more than he had done under the control of Madara. Shinobi were already losing hope and fighting out simple stubbornness to surrender, when Minato managed to intervene and teleport the beast away, saving his village and his people. But merely relocating Nine-Tailes was not enough, because now there was an even more dangerous task ahead of him- resealing that creature.

Minato appeared with his wife and child in his hand, having quickly grabbed them before the beast destroyed the house.

He panted teleporting things this size nearly depleted his chakra. "I must erect a barrier" he gathered his remaining chakra to erect the barrier to detain the Kyuubi in.

His technique was halted as he coughed a bit of blood indicating the strain he was putting on his body. 'My body can't handle any more strain.'

Seeing her husband's situation she decided to lend a hand to her husband, "Minato I can still do it." Kushina wheezed as she held back some blood that she coughed up, golden chins of chakra sprouted from her back, digging the ground and ensnaring the Kyuubi, before forming a barrier.

Kushina coughed up more blood, causing her husband to shout out her name in worry. The coughing also woke up baby Naruto and he started to cry.

"I woke you up, huh sorry Naruto," Kushina told her son.

"Kushina" Minato called out but was cut off by "I'm going to draw the Kyuubi with me and die. It will give you more time to deal with him when he emerges. It's all I can manage now with what little chakra I have left, but I'll be able to save you both. So thank you for everything you have done." she thanked her husband's heart, as the Kyuubi struggled for his freedom.

Minato was shocked at this and Naruto whimpered a bit a single tear came down his face as he looked at his mother's face for what was the first and last time.

Kushina slowly raised her hand and gently took the child from Minato. She shakily took the child in her arms as she wrapped him up in a warm embrace. He instantly calmed down and smiled as she rubbed his back gently held him in her arms and gazed at him with a loving expression at the sleeping child.

Minato watched the interaction with a very sad smile knowing that Kushina was never going to get to hold their child ever again he tried to hold back his tears as the child calmed and he started to regret what he was about to do.

"Minato." called out Kushina in a raspy voice, snapping the blonde Hokage's attention towards who was about to have an emotional breakdown.

"Please Minato please don't regret what you were about to do, you did what you could do to protect the village. I'm happy because you gave me the biggest gift that a girl can ever expect from her man. A gift of being a mother."

Kushina, you're the best thing that ever happened to me in my life, you are the one who made me what I am today, and now you made me a father, and yet I am unable to protect my only family." stated Minato chocking on his voice as he tears freely flowed from his eyes unable to stop it.

"Above all, when I think about our future together as a family if I lived, I can only see a life full of happiness, but I guess if I just had one regret it was that I would be unable to see him growing up, I wish I could have seen that."

"Kushina there is a need for you to die, to kill the Kyuubi. Conserve what little chakra you have to ensure your reunion with Naruto."

Kushina looked at him surprised and wiping his tears he continued "I am going to seal the rest of your chakra in him. It will be a part of a Hake no Fuin Shiki (Eight Trigram Divination Seal Spell Formula) and then I will take the Kyuubi with me since I'm not a Jinchuriki I'll have to use the Shiki Fujin (Reaper Death Seal)"

"Minato you can't if you used that seal you'll die and besides the reaper death seal is still incomplete Jutsu no one knows what will happen." Kushina wheezed out, restraining the Kyuubi with her nearly depleted chakra reserves was taking a heavy toll on her body.

"And there's one other thing, I'm only going to seal half of the Kyuubi, it's physically impossible to seal this much power, but it's also strategically unwise, if you take the Kyuubi with you there will be no Jinchuuriki until he remerges this will upset the balance of power between the Bijuu, with the Shiki Fūjin we can at least seal half of the Kyuubi forever and the other half I'll seal it inside Naruto with the Hakke no Fūin Shiki. I know what you're going to say, but remember what master Jiraiya said about great upheaval and also all the calamities that would accompany it, I've become convinced of two things today, first that masked man who attacked you will bring catastrophe to the world and second the one who will stop him is this child, this infant whose godfather is master Jiraiya he will open up the future as a Jinchuuriki I now it somehow I'm sure of it." He smiled at his wife as he put Naruto down.

Kushina frowned at the mentioned name of Jiraiya, she never liked that man and his ideologies and how he tried to mooch off the Minato's fame and success. In the end, she never cared for that man whose only thoughts were to peep on women and rant about how his ideologies would change the world.

Minato never noticed the frown on his wife's face as he was busy doing the hand seals, on the final seal he shouted "Shiki Fūjin (Reaper Death Seal)" A strange ghostly figure with beads in his hand, a white cloak around him, purple skin, white hair and red horns on his head, appeared behind him.

"Let's believe in him after all this child is our son."

Sandaime arrived and heard what Minato said and he immediately recognized the hand seals performed by his successor.

"Those signs... don't tell me" Enma started, and the Sandaime finished "Yes it's the Shiki Fūjin" The Sandaime concluded.

"After I complete this seal, I'm going to seal your chakra inside Naruto too, you won't have much time but I want you to try and help him control the Kyuubi power as Jinchuuriki."

"But he's our son, which is exactly why I don't want him to bear such a heavy burden tell me why to use the Shiki Fūjin if it is only so I can meet Naruto when he grows up, especially if it is only for a short time then there's no need for you to die. I'd rather you stayed with him and watch over him, I just don't understand why it has to be this way. Why does Naruto have to be sacrificed for the balance of power among the Bijuu, for his nation, for his village, why do you need to sacrifice yourself, as well just for me please." Kushina cried coughing up blood pleading with her husband to not do this and to stay with their son. Moments before she thought Minato was going to seal the whole Kyuubi in himself, but hearing his real plan shocked her to the core.

"To forsake one's nation and one's village is exactly the same as forsaking one's own child, your very own homeland was destroyed so you should know that, a harsh life awaits those without a land to call their home, besides our family is Shinobi." Minato told his wife before he smiled at her and started again "Finally even if I were to live I couldn't be a substitute for you, you won't have much time with him but there is something that only you can tell Naruto, something that I just can't that's an Okaa-san role, I'm not doing this just for you I'm doing it for Naruto."

After that, he picked up Naruto and told his wife "I will die for my son, it is my duty as his Otōu-san." Minato and Kushina stared at each other while Sandaime tried to get through the barrier. Two ninjas arrived and asked what was wrong. "It's no good, we can't get in any closer this barrier is preventing the Kyuubi from escaping, it seems the two of them plan to take care of the Kyuubi all by themselves."

The Shinigami raised his left hand and it went right through Minato's stomach ripping the clothes off the other side, yet there was no wound as the ghostly arm went through him, it stretched and grabbed onto the Kyuubi who was growling at the couple.

But as the death god's hand grabbed the Kyuubi he was released from whatever remaining influence of the Sharingan and he came back to his senses he found himself bound by those dreaded chains and his chakra slowly left as the ghostly hand slowly ripped it apart. He desperately looked around and saw his former host who appeared to be weak as hell. But his anger peaked when he saw that Yondaime Hokage was ripping his chakra out. He was about to be sealed again, and not wanting to lose his freedom and his chakra he made a quick plan.

Seeing an opportunity when the red-haired Ant coughed up blood and the chains around him loosened the Yondaime's attention was diverted at her halting his Jutsu and as a result, the Kyuubi chakra that was being taken out from the Kyuubi returned to its owner, he raised one of his paws and struck at the direction of Naruto who appeared to be their weakness but he was further angered as his paws were stopped piercing his target, as his claws were impaled through his parent bodies protecting their child, their body acting as a human shield protecting him.

The claw went right through them, and as the claw pierced through them both used all their willpower to stop it before it reached their son. Kushina held the bloody claw at her stomach as her other organs also fell down blood flowing out of the wound where the claw pierced her. Minato dug his feet into the ground the claw stopped just inches from Naruto and his parent's blood dripped from it and landed on him.

Minato looked in horror at the fallen organs of her beloved wife he turned his head slightly and glared at the Kyuubi with hatred and coldness visible in his eyes, the cold intensity of them as cold as ice in response to Kyuubi fire. There was some sort of conversation through their eyes, with Minato's eyes conveying 'You will suffer as the message with Kyuubi's eyes displaying 'Bring it, vermin' as a response.

Their glaring was halted when he heard the crying voice of his child.

He watched as Kushina tried to calm down their child but was unable in her current state, but there was one part of his brain saying that his son was somehow aware that he would never see his parents ever again.

"Minato why?" Kushina asked her voice getting hoarse.

"I am his father, protecting him is my duty." Minato wheezed out.

"Then all the better, I'm his mother it's my duty too," Kushina argued back to her husband.

"BASTARD!" the Kyuubi cursed the Yondaime Hokage as his plan to stop the sealing failed and was unable to do anything further as the chains around him tightened again.

"This is the first time I have lost an argument against you." Kushina joked despite the situation. I understand now how serious you are about this."

"Thank you, Kushina," Minato told his wife for understanding him. He took a bit of his blood and started to through some hand seals before pointing his arm out as he was about to release his gathered chakra for the Jutsu he was stopped as Kushina held his hand stopping him.

"Minato don't," Kushina said as her vision was blurring indicating that she did not have much time left.

"Why Kushina? I was going to give the formula to Gerotora asking him to take it to Jiraiya-sensei," he asked out in a bit of confusion.

"I don't think you should do this Minato when you will seal my chakra in him. At the time of the meeting, I will myself give the key to him." Kushina barely managed to explain her husband also clearly hiding her lack of trust towards his sensei.

Minato nodded accepting the solution, doing some hand seals and he put his hands on baby Naruto's belly and Shinigami behind him and pulled his knife out of his mouth. "Kushina I'm out of time. I want to put some of my chakra into Naruto as well. It will be a while before we see him, so say what you want to say."

Kushina gazed at her child that would be the last time in the land of the living, tears came to her eyes as she told her child her parting words.

"Naruto, don't be a picky eater. Just eat a lot so you'll grow up big and strong. Make sure you bathe every day and stay warm too. Don't stay up too late; make sure you get plenty of sleep. Don't forget to make friends as well. You don't need a ton of them, okay? Just a few are fine, as long as there are ones you can really trust. And, um… your mom wasn't very good at this. Make sure you study hard and learn your Ninjutsu. Always remember that some are good at some things but not so good at others. So even if something doesn't go well, don't get depressed, okay? When you're at the academy, respect your teachers and the upperclassmen."

"Oh, this is important. Regarding the three prohibitions of a Shinobi, be extra careful when borrowing and lending money. Take your pay and put it in a savings account. No alcohol until you're of age, and too much sake is bad for you, so practice moderation. And another prohibition is women. Remember, I am one, so I don't know too much about it but keep in mind this world is made of men and women. At some point, you'll notice girls, and that's normal. Just be careful; don't fall for the bad ones. Go out there and find someone who is like me. That reminds me, speaking of the three prohibitions, you should be wary of Jiraiya, okay?"

Kushina's voice trembled as she spoke, her heart heavy with the weight of her impending absence. Each word felt like a precious gem, yet also a painful reminder of the time they would never share. Her chest tightened as she thought of all the moments she wouldn't witness—her boy's first steps, his first word, his first day of school, his girlfriend, and eventually, his own children. A deep well of sorrow churned inside her, mixing with fierce love and an overwhelming urge to protect him from the world's cruelties. Her heart swelled with warmth at the thought of Naruto's laughter, the way he would charge into a room, full of energy and hope. Each moment they had shared was etched into her memory, and the thought of leaving him behind felt like a dagger to her soul.

"Naruto, I am sorry to say, but there will be many hardships ahead. Just be true to yourself, and make sure to have dreams and the confidence to make those dreams come true. Oh, Naruto, there is so much, so much more. There are so many things I wish I had time to pass on to you, so much more I want to tell you." As tears welled in her eyes, Kushina felt an ache so profound it threatened to consume her. She longed to wrap him in her arms one last time, to shield him from pain and show him the depths of her love. Every hug, every kiss, every reassuring word had been her way of saying, "I will always be here for you." But now, she was painfully aware that she would not be.

"I wish I could stay longer, but I love you." Her voice cracked, each syllable filled with the bittersweet weight of a mother's love. "Minato, I'm sorry I used up your time." Kushina apologized to her husband, knowing that every moment spent here meant less time for him.

"No, it's alright," Minato reassured her, his gaze softening as he moved slightly to look at their son, wanting to impart his final words.

"Naruto, my advice as your father... Well, I guess it's everything your chatty mother said. Hakke no Fūin Shiki," he whispered. A flash of light illuminated everything as both Kushina and Minato gave their son their final goodbyes.

"We love you, Naruto."
