Summary: Beautiful Clarke Eliza Jane Griffin is in her last year of college at Eden U in Ark City, Massachusetts and while juggling an internship as an assistant art therapy teacher at the local elementary school, Eden Elm Youth School, she has barely had time to spend time with her boyfriend of two years, Bellamy Robert Augustus Blake, let alone make Valentine's plans - or so he thinks so he makes her a nice dinner and plans a movie and cuddle session the night before not knowing that she plans to celebrate the holiday on the day by surprising him with a romantic surprise dessert date in the college's closed library, his place of work and where they met, with a blanket pillows, LED candle, roses and more because sometimes being the Eden U's Dean's Daughter and dubbed Princess because well her family, on her dad's side – the Griffin's - did find the university had it's perks. There is where Bellamy finally bucks up the courage to propose, telling her he didn't know about this plan and that he was actually planning to do it on Spring Break but in Cancun, Mexico but something just told him to bring the ring with him, but she says this was a better setting, more meaningful, more them because it's not only where they met but had so many of their, what their friends call, "relationship goals", here.

A Librarian Lover's Valentine's
..:..By Jessica LE..:..
Shit! Why did they always have to put things so far out of reach?! Curse me and my small midget-ness. She, Clarke Eliza Jane Griffin, remembers thinking that first day in this very same library as she checked her big Valentine's surprise for her boyfriend of two years, Bellamy Robert Augustus Blake. She smiles brightly remembering their meet-cute, or what some may say was what people in a romantic comedy (heck! Did I see it on Buffy the Vampire Hunter in the third season of the television show when she meets, flipping doo-da Huckleberry Finn, what's his name…*mental finger snap and lightbulb go off above head* oh yeah! Captain Cardboard like Spike always called him, Riley 'plain-Jane-watch-paint-dry-more-excited Finn!) meet-cute, her not so much, more like embarrassment and mortification…
Just a little further, just…a…little…futherrrr, she whispers in her head as she stretches on her tippy-toes, even in her 3-inch black Christian Louboutin studded, gladiator-like heels, and as her fingers just graze them, she sends them whole stack flying from the high shelf to the floor below.
Thunk! Smack! Thud! Smack!
"Shit!" She curses out loud and looks around with a wince.
"Ouch! Shit is right! What do you think you were doing?!" A male's voice asked her from where he was previously knelt by where the books fell…right on top of his head and shoulders pursing the shelves of the Eden University's library, 'Jacob Wanders Library', himself. Their eyes widen as she watches him straighten himself up and holy shit! She thinks he looked like one of the Greek art statue study pieces come to life from that her Art History Class she studied of Ancient Greece– all chiseled and hell-a beautiful and she just embarrassed herself in front of him. Clearing her throat and blushing a deep pink at being caught staring at his dark chestnut curls, tall height – was he 5'8" or maybe 5'9" no more than 5-10, definitely - bronze skin that went on for miles, freckles – was there more hiding under that plaid shirt, yummy! – strong, cut-you-like-glass jawline, and – oh my! – Deep, pools of molten chocolate brown eyes, "Shit! I'm so, so, so sorry! I was trying to reach one of those books and, since I couldn't find anybody at the front desk to help or find anyone willing to help in the aisle either, I tried to be self-sufficient and help myself. Who would have thought, even wearing 3-inch heels, I couldn't reach them still, huh?"
Rubbing the sore spot on his head, he just looked at her, taking her in from her curly, cascading down her shoulder bright, almost bleach blonde hair, pale skin (and blush) – fuck! Does that blush travel down past her cheeks and what little of her neck and shoulders I can see? – small stature, curvy – oh fuck! Those tits! That ass! Those man handles! Fuck me! – body, pouty, want-to-be-kissed-senseless, pink lips covered in red lipstick – such a cute little mole above her upper left lip – melodic voice – Shit! That voice would sound fucking sinfully, sexy in moans and repeating my name. Oh! Have mercy! — and those – fuck me! Looking through my soul! – electric, soulful blue eyes. "Right," he said, rubbing at the back of his neck, having been caught staring at the young woman in front of him who was standing in a white lace-trimmed dress that had thin, black stripes outlining the white stripes of fabric that made up the over-the-and-off-the-shoulder dress; black high heels on her feet with the iconic red soles and rose gold jewelry with light daytime makeup as he his smile turns into smirk as he catches her checking him out as well.
He knew he looked good dressed in a pair of dark wash jeans with the band of his Calvin Kline briefs showing when he stretched further than the length of the top fabrics allowed it, and a black leather belt with silver buckle through the belt loops, a black, short-sleeved T-shirt and a red and navy, button-up, plaid long-sleeved shirt sat on his upper half.
"Whoa baby!" She whispered and heard the words she said out loud clearly—Well fuck a duck! —not meaning for him to hear because her eyes went wide and she pulled the corner of her bottom lip in to bite at it as she looked down towards the ground, arms crossing over her chest.
"You know, Princess, if you just waited until I got my books and got back behind the counter I could have helped you then, Shorty or do you prefer midget, Princess?" he smirked at her.
"Waited for….! Wait, are you the librarian? And Princess? Really? I honestly think that might be worse than those cracks about my height," She replied, almost in a whine with shock coloring her voice as she watched his pointer finger push his square, black-framed glasses up his nose.
"One of, and student librarian, pays tuition, Princess," he told her bending down with a shrug as he picked up the books watching as she did too while also trying not to show her ass which was probably covered in barely there white lace panties causing him to close his eyes and bite his lip this time at that thought…
She giggled as she remembered, setting up the last of her surprise for her boyfriend as she finished up the LED candles in the first place they had their first kiss between the glass front doors and circular main desk where all the librarians congregated to help the patrons in any form they needed, at least one that was on the lips and the start of their more-than-friends, intimate relationship…
…the hesitancy, the heated (read: blushing) cheeks (ohmygod! Is he hot too or is it just me?! Sweet holy mother and baby is that stubble on his jaw?!), the soft grip on her hips and hers around his neck as minutes dragged on, the sudden press of their lower bodies together, the zing that goes up her spinal cord and back down before pooling low in her belly and starting to tug on her heartstrings, (I knew there would be a lot of zings between us and if this is how it is with clothes on?! With clothes off…must as well dig a grave and bury me six feet down and do not resuscitate unless for a repeat and or to take it further, other than that, I repeat do not resuscitate!), the hard line of a well-defined psyche as he gently walked her backward until her back collided with the glass windows of the library by the entrance and exit, causing her to shiver as the clear solid pressed against her bear skin….
|| And if I lived a thousand years
You know I never could explain
The way I lost my heart to you that day
But if destiny decided I should look the other way
Then the world would never know
The greatest story ever told
And did I tell you that I love you tonight?
… I don't hear the music
When I'm looking in your eyes
But I feel the rhythm of your body||
Smiling instantly, knowing whose text tone that was, the pre-med went to the circular table in the middle of the room:
(From: My Heart, My King)
Be home in a little to celebrate.
Get comfy cozy. Dip into our favorite bottle of wine. Don't start our show until I'm there. Decide on dessert, I'll provide dinner. Gotta run an errand for work so home in 30 minutes. I love you, Princess
(To: My Heart, My King
From: His Brain, His Princess)
Sorry about not going out tonight with it being three years together! And on V-Day at that! Work is being a buzzkill! TTYAL! Will follow instructions you too! Be careful and see you in a few! I love you, XO
Clarke laughed as a little wicked cackle as she looked around the recently set up Eden University's Library for their Valentine's Day surprise, knowing he wouldn't know what hit him, knowing her plan was all coming together nicely.
After making sure all the LED candles were where they were supposed to be and everything else was placed just so she quickly tore off the outer clothes she was wearing and tore into the bathroom to fix herself, knowing he'd be right on time because he always when he says a time.
Quickly she flipped her head upside down and then back up before doing it two more times to give her blonde locks the 'just-fucked' look. Untying the knot in the front of her black, mid-thigh, dress that held the garment on her body, besides the two-thin spaghetti straps on each shoulder, the blue-eyed young woman made sure her first surprise for her boyfriend – a bright red, satin corset that laced in the front and pushed her generous breasts up, held up by very thin-looking almost snap-able, spaghetti straps, and gave them another two sizes it seemed – he's going to think he's with a porn star tonight! – before tying her dress back up knowing that her other surprise, the matching red, lace panties were going to blow him away with them being crotchless – something I rarely explore with him! And her diamond and silver 'B' belly-button ring was on securely, Clarke bent down to make sure the red satin ribbon ties on her new Christian Louboutin high heels, were tied around her ankle where she wouldn't trip while walking in them – don't want another klutz attack, Griffin! – Clarke then made sure her rose gold jewelry was all fixed appropriately – from the black leather and rose gold chain chocker necklace, diamond and pearl studded earrings in her first whole and her diamond-studded hoops in her second whole were okay, followed by her diamond tennis bracelet and separate pearl bracelet and her gift from Bellamy from their one-year-anniversary and Valentine's day, a rose gold with diamond in the heart inset Irish Claddagh ring on her left right finger, heart pointed in, for their commitment to each other. Lightly spritzing herself with her Victoria's Secret 'heavenly' perfume re-doing her deodorant and making sure her make-up – dark smokey eyes and red (matching lingerie) lipstick – was done and, finally, her teeth squeaky clean with fresh smelling breath.
Throwing on her white, studded leather jacket to complete the look – thank you for the gift, Raven! – she took a couple of mirror selfies and then sent one on a time delay to the chat group, 'The Commanders' for all her friends that were girls and one mirror selfie but also the set-up of date night to Instagram with a time delay to post after her library dated started with her boyfriend…

Stepping out of the bathroom and casting it back into shadows as well as the rest of the room beside the LED candles she took in the setup. The beautiful and spacious library, named after the many Jacobs on her Griffin family side, resembles something out of a fairytale – more than likely from Belle's library in the Beast castle in Disney's The Beauty and the Beast seeing as that was a popular and old family favorite in her house through generations, not just hers. The library had wall-to-ceiling bookshelves on multiple levels, each with its own set of rolling ladders that rolled along the bookcases. Towards the railings and also tucked into some spots were plenty of study areas from desks to desktop computers, couches, and private meeting rooms. But what really caught her attention, where she focused most of her attention was on their spot: the second level far left corner where the one back wall of windows faced the dense forest surrounding the university. In the corner, of course with bookcases alike around it, sat a beige-to-tannish sectional couch that allowed you to curl up and look out the window as you were doing whatever you chose to at that spot. She had set the white-looking-like-wax melting LED candles around the little stands and shelves and book risers themselves while also playing off the soft, white fairy lights strung about through the shelves and around objects. On the coffee table in front of the couch, set their bounty for the night: all sweet, all sugar! From chocolate-covered strawberries, boxed chocolates, original glazed Krispy Kreme donuts, Hershey's chocolate, fruits from peaches to apples, cotton candy, and so much – all of their favorite sweets and favorite sugary beverages including some alcoholic inspiration drinks – Raven's lethal batch of Slippery Nipples, Murphy's lethal batch of Mountain Dew with Whipped Vodka mixed drinks, and more. There were also soft blankets and pillows, as well as much-needed accessories and she thanked, for the first and probably only time, whoever allowed her to be born into a privileged family that was allowing her to get away with what no other patron would ever get away with an overnight date night with food and drinks around some of the world's best first edition books and more just to please her nerd of a boyfriend.
"Hello? Whose…." She heard his voice on the lower level was heard as he came in from the back door, the employee entrance, and took in the setup.
"Follow the rose petals, ignore the not-so-mysterious, not-so-ominous voice, and follow the rose-petaled path," Clarke's voice followed by giggling echoed throughout the empty building.
"Princess, what the…" he said with a bright laugh but followed her direction nonetheless but couldn't help making a snide comment as was his way with her, always, "Now I know what Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz felt like."
"Or me when you do this," came her reply as she set her iPhone up to the library's wifi and speakers so they could have some music to listen to if they didn't want to follow through with any of her other plans of seduction.
"…or scent dogs," he tacked on coming up the winding staircase, picking up the occasional love note on a sticky note as was their way along the way, smiling and pocketing each one – both knowing he'd keep everyone and probably be the sentimental fool to drag them out on all their moments together from more anniversaries to children being born to marriage, just anywhere.
"…or Hensel and Gretel," she added with a smirk and a raised eyebrow, seeing he was picking up the sticky note that had nothing but a fresh lip print on it and daring him to say something about it.
"Technically they only laid the path," he said taking the last few steps towards her trying not to let his smirk grow into a full-blown smile, "Right? Right…I think."
"I don't know aren't you the librarian," she told him with her smirk, which turned into a shriek when he danced his fingertips under the new jacket and over her ribcage.
"Smart ass."
"Well, I am smart, and as you very well know, I do have an ass, so, therefore, I am a smartass," came her quick retort, a smirk growing on her face as she watched him throw his head back in a big, belly laugh, shaking his head at her sass. After all, he was just with me because of curves, she thought as her smirk grew more brazen taking in him fully. He was wearing her favorite pair of dark wash, boot cut jeans that showed off the 'Calvin Kline' name brand band of his briefs, his brown leather belt strung through the belt loops, navy CONVERSE high tops on his feet, and she knew for a fact his chiseled chest was hidden by the black tank top/wife-beater then white short-sleeved shirt and finally blue sweater over his upper body. His glasses were, as per normal, sliding down his nose, on the wrist – left – that was pushing them up sat his braided, brown leather bracelet and a Viking-like looking silver cross sat on a matching leather band around his neck, both a gift from his little sister, Octavia that he got this morning from her for Valentine's Day.
"Hello, sight for sore eyes," he greeted her gently with all the love in the world in his eyes as his hands went to place themselves on her hips and pull them so they were pressed together from pelvis to chest.
"Hey Handsome," she replied softly but with just as much love in her voice, "Surprise?"
"You sure did at that," he said with a bright smile, pressing their foreheads together and cupping her cheeks. He opens his eyes, brown irises going big as puzzle pieces started falling into place, "Wait…are you the reason why the library would be starting new hours and I had to…why you little minx."
"There are some privileges to being Eden's Princess," she acknowledged with a smirk, her fingers coming up to get lost in his mop of curls.
"Can I get that in writing, Princess?" He retorted with a soft chuckle and raised an eyebrow.
"Nope take it over leave it lie," she sang as she stepped away and towards the bounty that awaited them.
B*C*B*C*B*C
"Do you remember that first time after we saw each other after our first moment here?" She asked him with a smile as they sat back, cuddled, and enjoyed their red wine, having polished off a good portion of the junk food in front of them as they continued to remember.
"Which moment couldn't I forget?" He asked her with a chuckle, laughing around a grunt when her elbow encountered his stomach muscles, "any case, yeah, I do. What about it?"
"I think that's when I first started falling for you," she told him with a soft smile as she swished the liquid around in her stemmed glass.
"I knew it! You just want me for my body," he replied smugly, earning another elbow to the gut.
"No, stupid, for your battle strategy on how to take out the rest of the gang in the War Games we had just started."
"One of my better plans and hey it still stays true throughout our traditional War Games, so it's not like it's failed us," he told her, thinking back to the total domination they seemed to get together as a joined team which everyone soon realized was just better for everyone to let them have their team and everyone else do their own thing, or else they'd bring you down in the burning world around them as they tried to outwit the other to win.
"True we make a pretty great team don't you think?" She commented with a smile not noticing his hand going into his jean pocket as she sat up to pour some more wine for them and start their next movie.
"What do you think about making it a permanent thing?" He asked her with a nervous chuckle, the arm that was around her coming up to run his hand through his curls in his nervous tick.
"Of course it's perm-, I don't see it..." she said, stopping mid-sentence as she was turning back to him only to stop mid-motion as she watched him drop to his knee.
"Princess," he said taking a deep breath as his eyes closed before opening and burning bright with everything he desires in that moment, "Clarke. You came into my life, like a one-two punch, dropping books on my head, and since then…whoa baby! Without another word, we came together as if it were the most natural thing world, and baby it has been. We've both remarked that with other people it just seemed like too much effort, or we gave and gave and got scrapes in between but with us, it is as natural breathing – even know you breathe in, I breathe out. You have led and will lead, and I will and have followed. You're the first thing on my mind when I wake up, the last thing on my mind when I go to bed. Anytime I have something to share or talk about – whether it be good, bad, ugly, or incandescent – you're the one I look for and whether that be in a crowded room with a 100 strong or just narrowed down to O, you and me, that doesn't change. I always knew relationships were the most important thing in life, and friends and family are a part of that, before O and Mom, I was okay, just simply going through the motions, never really expecting much else out of life. But then you this little tornado of a klutz, sassing back to me about calling your Princess and not even asking if I was okay until you were almost out the door, I knew I was a goner. You have taught me what it's like to chase a dream, to learn about myself, about my capabilities and limitations, and the value of hard work and persistence. So Clarke Eliza Jane Griffin, what a mouthful of a name for a powerhouse of a woman, you know as well as I do that you always have a choice and sometimes people do make the wrong one, but I know we aren't one of them. So, Princess, for the first time since I met you have the power to crush one of my dreams from coming true because we've discussed how simple dreams are often the most painful because they seem so personal, so reasonable, so attainable. You're always close enough to touch it, but never quite close enough to hold and this is close enough that it will break my heart, but whether the answer be yay or nay, I will always be here, your friend first and your lover second, so to me this is just really the next chapter in our story, Clarke Eliza Jane Griffin, love is patient and love is kind, and my love personified is this: will you marry me and spend the rest of your life with me? See how this fairytale goes."
All that the blonde could do as tears blurred her vision from the sterling silver, diamond studded Tiffany Solitaire diamond engagement ring, and ran down her checks that we were hurting with how big her smile was, watch how her curls frantically bounced up and down with her agreement, allowing their cries and laughter to meld together.
The End!
Author's Note: Wellllllll, there it is a pretty long one if I do say so myself and I'm sorry I didn't have it finished for actual Valentine's Day, but things have been hectic around here lately. I'm sure many can understand life, right?! Well, let me know what you think. I hope that proposal was Bellarke worthy with my beloved author, Nicholas Sparks, mixed in there – oh how I love that man's stories!
XO,
Jess
P.S. I will attach here with my link in my profile (I also will post them over on Tumblr too! Soo fall me on there as well) the collection of Bellarke outfits I make on UrStyle/Pinterest for inspiration.
FUN FACT: If I had to pick a Nicholas Sparks quote that emobides Bell & Clarkey, is….bascially just the whole dialogue between Allie and Noah in "The Notebook" so ready, set, go! Pick your famous love couple to compare them too (except Bob & Eliza cheaters ;P) :
