Lucias shook as he stood before his Master, who was shrouded in darkness, his hood pulled over his head.
"I'm sorry…" He started but the robbed figure held up a pale hand the color of bone.
"Cease your sniveling, Lucas. You had one job, which was to grab Potter as he left his Aunt and Uncle's house and the powerful shields his mother put on the building."
"Which would not have been needed, had Severus not failed in his part of the mission." Lucas dared to say.
Snape was breathing carefully with a mask and removed it. "I had all the air stolen from my lungs by a greater Elemental."
Master nodded. "Severus' failure is accounted for, and he will be punished accordingly. However, you lost to two children. This looks bad for the Death Eaters, Lucas. I will give you one last chance, but not yet. Potter will be safe for the time being, those interfering busybodies in the White Lodge will make sure of it. When the time comes for another try, I promise you will get your chance."
Lucas shuddered. He knew he was getting off easy. His Master was very skilled at magical torture.
"You are dismissed, Lucas." The robbed figure stated. Lucas could not run out of there quickly enough.

Snape watched him go. "Master, what will you do if he does fail again?"
Voldemort lowered his hood, his disfigured face with it's snake-like eyes and no nose still repulsed Severus every time he looked at him.
"We'll find a way, Severus. After all, it would not do for any of the others to learn my secret. Are you prepared for another try?"
Severus shook his head. "Potter will be safely with the Weasley girl and her family. Their home will have had so many layers of magical protection already. I'm sure those girls sent by Alderscroft will have brought additional magical protections. We will need to engineer a new opportunity to strike at the boy."
Voldermort rubbed his bald head. "I understand. I have more patience for you than I do Lucas. But be very careful if you fail me again, Severus."
"Yes, Master." Severus knelt and kissed his Master's feet before getting up to take his leave. He had to believe that a chance to strike at Potter would come again someday.

On the street in Surray, there was a knock at Number 4 Privet Drive. The guests were not pleased when they heard that the youngest member of the household had fled.
Petunia looked at the three men she had not seen in years, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettergrew. Sirius looked like he was going to break something. However, it was Lupin that was the voice of reason.
"Petunia, did Harry leave anything of his behind? We might be able to pick up his scent."
"Yes, most of his clothes are still upstairs. Let me go and get something."
She headed up the stairs and went to his closet. She was soon back down with a button-up shirt. "Here, I hope this helps." She looked at Remus, recalling what Lily had told her about him.
"Is there a problem, Petunia?" He asked her.
"Can I ask for your help with something?" She asked.
He gave her a bright smile. "If I can do it, consider it done."
She took a deep breath and told the Marauders everything. When she was done, Sirius reached out and patted her shoulder.
"Don't worry. We will make sure he can't raise a hand to you again."
Remus nodded. "I hope James can forgive us one more night before we reunite with Harry."

As he left work that night, Vernon was attacked by a very angry wolf, a massive black hound, and a very irate rat. Only, no one believed him because there was no evidence of an assault. Petunia was able to get him committed and then divorced him based on his crazy testimony. Karma can be such a bitch.

Harry, Sarah, Nan, Neville, Gray, and Hedwig all arrived at the Burrow as night started to fall. Nan was carrying Ginny on her back, the budding Fire Master was still unconscious. A woman who must be Ginny's mother came rushing down the land as they approached.
"My girl! What happened?" She asked the other women.
"She used fire magic," Sarah told her. "A fireball was rushing at Harry and she just stopped it and reversed it back to the caster. Sadly, he got away."
The woman tutted and took Ginny from Nan and handed her over to a man who came walking at a more leisurely pace. "Arthur, take her inside and set her on the sofa."
The man took her, and winked at Harry, before heading up to the house.
"Is she going to be alright?" Harry asked the adults in worry.
Mrs. Weasley looked at him with a warm smile. "You must be Harry. She is going to be fine, dearie. She just needs some rest is all. I'm sure you recall the first time you used your powers, Air Master."
It was not a question, Harry had to check to see if he was still shielded.
"You forget, we were asked to look into a budding Air Master in the area. That was why Ginny was at your school in the first place." The kind woman gave him a hug.
Harry flinched for a moment before accepting it. He hoped she had not noticed his flinch but from the look on her face, he think that she did.
"Well, let's get you up to the house and get you fed." She offered. "You'll be going to London next week to attend a school for children with powers. Ginny will be going too, now that her powers are awakening. She will be tickled pink when she wakes up."
Harry had been a bit unsure about going to this school until Mrs Weasley had said Ginny was going too. For some reason, that eased his fears.
"Sarah, Nan, I got Bill's room made up for you two. Harry, you'll be in with my youngest son, Ronald. Why don't you nip up and introduce yourself while I preare a late dinner for you six?"
"Clever bird!" Gray exclaimed which earned a laugh from everyone there.
As Harry stepped into the house, the summer breeze tickled his face. There was a crisp to the air, with the promise of autumn just around the corner.
Breezy flew up and winked at Harry. "Well, Master Harry? Shall we meet this Ronald?"
Harry smiled and looked up at the house. "Yes, let's go."
As he stepped into the Burrow, Harry felt confident about the future, which he had not felt in a very long time.
