Sookie's POV:
"We need to get out of here," Alexander says to me as we continue to hear the sounds of gunfires and explosions.
I use my telepathy to count the number of new bodies and voids outside the house and the ones that were inside.
"There's at least thirteen voids and weres outside. Six are inside the house," I let him know. He sends a message on his watch to his armed guards, who were in the middle of the battle, and we quickly move down the hall, towards the side entrance. I was glad that I was wearing running shoes, maternity joggers and a shirt and sweater. I had already been prepared for this possibly happening, but somehow, it was still quite a shock. I hold onto my stomach as Alexander holds me as we make our way out.
I try to summon my fae powers, but they seemed to be in snooze mode or something. I dunno if it was from the shock of the new 'presence' I was still feeling. Which brought me to another question that I had but had no time to comprehend, why was I feeling the presence of Eric? He had 'died' six years ago and all of a sudden, I was feeling him through my old bond with him. Did Pam feel the same thing I did? Is that why she left in a sudden hurry? I knew she would not abandon me if it wasn't important or out of her hands. Did she go to look for Eric?
Right now, I couldn't think about any of that. I needed to get to safety. As we reach the side entrance, we hear a loud explosion that rocked the house.
"I'm afraid that was our getaway vehicles," Alexander says grimly.
"They are after me," I say to him. "You cannot get me out of here safely."
I put my hands on my stomach and let my son know that everything would be okay.
"I will teleport out of here," I tell Alexander. "Then it will be easier for you to fight them."
"Sookie, I promised Marten that I would keep you safe. It will be difficult for me if you leave alone," he says.
I contemplate bringing him with me, but I wasn't sure if I had enough energy for him too. I had to focus on myself and my son.
"I will be ok. I know where to go," I say to him calmly. I needed to be calm to focus on teleporting. I close my eyes and try to think of the perfect place to be. The first thing that comes to my mind was the Colosseum. I knew Marten was close by there and I had done the tourist thing earlier today, visiting the ancient arena with my bodyguards. I focus on that place and immediately pop away.
I open my eyes to find myself inside the ancient structure. I look around, it was quiet and not one person to be seen.
Right away I try to focus on Marten. But he was no longer in the area, he was somewhere else. I try to focus on his location, but it seemed far, but the connection also seemed to be dimming out or something, like I was losing signal.
What the hell was going on?
Just as I was about to find a way out of there, I suddenly sense a void, a familiar void.
Before I can turn around, the void grabs me and has me against the wall. I try to scream, but he puts his hand over my mouth. I use my arms and hands to protect my baby bump. I struggle against him, trying to move, as my eyes look around frantically, to find anyone or anything to help me.
I suddenly feel a warm, calming feeling flowing through me.
My body begins to calm down as my heartrate starts to settle down as well. I stop looking around and look in front of me, to the blue eyes that were staring right at me.
My breathing steadies as I focus on the pair of blue eyes. They were familiar, a pair of eyes that I had known and loved for many years, the same pair of eyes that I had fallen in love with at first sight many years ago.
It was him!
He slowly moves his hand from my mouth as I stare at him, shocked and frozen.
"Eric?" I whisper, tears falling from my eyes. "How?"
He moves away from me, but just only slightly. He looks down at my stomach, then back at me. His features were dark, like he had dirt encrusted into his skin. But his skin wasn't pale, like it was before, he was tanned. His blonde hair was caked in dirt and dust and was a copper-brownish color. He wasn't wearing a shirt, but his pants were tattered, like he hadn't changed his clothes in years. He was also barefoot.
He runs his hands down my arms and leans in. I thought he was about to bite, but instead sniffs me on my neck. He then begins sniffing the rest of my body.
"Eric?" I whisper again, but he doesn't answer, but instead makes grunting noises as he continues to inspect me.
A few minutes later, he lifts his head and begins to look around, sensing something or someone.
I take a few quick glances around as well, when all of a sudden, Eric is grabbed by another void who throws him against the wall on the other side.
"No!" I yelp out in anguish. It was Marius, he takes a look at me to see if I was alright and he turns back to Eric, who was now inside the crumbled wall.
I go to run to him, but he gets up in vampire speed and attacks Marius. He pushed Marius against the wall, which they both tumble into.
"Stop!" I yell out as they continue fighting. A minute or so later, Pam arrives.
She rushes to help Eric. She pulls out a blade and stabs Marius on his side. He hisses in anger and begins glowing red.
"Oh no," I whisper in fear. This was not good.
He rises above Pam preparing to use his pyrokinesis on her, when suddenly Eric attacks him from behind. He throws Eric against the wall as his powers surge through his body.
I close my eyes and focus on my own. I begin glowing blue and throw a blue charge at Marius. It hits him, causing him to fall down.
I could feel my energy draining. I wasn't used to using my fae powers while I was pregnant, I realize.
"I need to work on that….." I mumble to myself as I could feel my body tiring. I couldn't keep my eyes open as the world fades away in darkness.
Marten's POV:
I hold Rosamund at the back of her neck as she leads me to the fortress where she apparently keeping my half-faery mother hostage.
I keep focus on the task at hand, but also at the same time keep focus on Sookie and our baby. My connection to the two of them seemed to be fading away, the only way I could describe it, as though something or someone was blocking the signal.
I had told Marius that I was going to pursue my mother with Rosamund and sent him to make sure that Sookie remained safe. I knew she was worried and fearful, but I needed to know this, I needed to see if this woman she was holding was really my mother.
"Tell them to stand down and to leave if they know what's good for them," I say menacingly to Rosamund. There were a few dozen vampires and weres who were armed, pointing various weapons at us.
She sends them a hand signal and right away they scatter.
She leads us into the large, old villa. We were somewhere on the seaside and the villa was right next to a cliff. I could hear the waves crashing against the rocks and feel the cool breeze of the water.
We walk into the villa, which was being brightened by candlelight. The wall paper looked to be old and the floors were dirty and dusty. It looked like it hadn't been lived in for many decades.
She leads us to a staircase that led down. I was on high alert, as I kept my guard up, waiting for more surprises.
Candles were lit alongside nooks on the walls as we reach the bottom of the stairs. Right away, I could smell fairy, and also something else, something old and ancient.
We reach a locked door.
"Open it," I growl to Rosamund.
"The key is in my bra," she says in a raspy throat. I knew that I had damaged her vocal cords.
I was going to tell her to grab it, but then I realized she might have a weapon in there. I reluctantly reach inside her dress and feel her bony chest and find a key. I hand it to her and tell her to open the lock.
She opens the lock slowly and then opens the door. The room was empty, except for one person, woman, who was far on the other side of the room. I notice right away that she was chained to the wall in iron.
"Marten, go now!" the woman yells.
I give her a confusing look, before I am attacked from behind. I shake my head in pain as I turn around defensively. Rosamund takes the opportunity to run away and up towards the stairs. I don't chase after her, due to my vampire senses being offline as I try to recover. I am attacked again by a shadowy figure, this time it lunges at me in the front. I crash into the floor hard, the wood chips and cement crumbling beneath me.
"Owwww.." I say silently.
I try to get up, but again the figure attacks me and this time I land near the woman against the wall.
"Use your power," she whispers. "You are faery, you have the spark!"
"I don't…" I say before I am attacked yet again, but this time by bricks and rocks being thrown at me at a fast pace.
I shield my face and head.
"Touch me," she says.
I don't hesitate as I reach out to her and touch her foot. Right away, I hear a loud pop and in an instant, I am gone, to god knows where….
Sookie's POV:
I open my eyes slowly… At first my vision is blurry, but I could see light. It was mid-day. My senses begin to return and I could hear the sounds of the sea birds and the waves crashing against the shoreline. I suddenly feel the warm breeze of fresh air and the smell of sea water.
I try to sit up, but I was still dizzy and had a headache.
My baby! I think to myself in a panic. I put my hand on my belly immediately and focus on my son. He was still alive, his heart beating normally. I listen to his mind, he was hungry. Right away my stomach growls in hunger.
I slowly sit up and look around the room. I was in a very nice bedroom. Women's clothing were scattered on the chaise lounge chair. The furniture was pink. I find a note next to my hand. I pick it up and begin reading it.
We brought you here to keep you safe. As you can probably imagine, I am shocked but mostly overjoyed and I am also probably lying dead in my resting place till tonight when I rise again after sunset as usual. There is food in the kitchen, I have told my daytime household staff to pamper you and my armed were guards to keep you safe. I do not know where Marten is, he hasn't contacted me, but Alexander is safe. In the meantime, rest and thank you for saving my undead life, Pamela Ravenscroft-Treade.
I smile as I read the note and recall everything.
Eric was alive! He was here! Tears of joy fill my eyes again as a smile forms on my face.
Suddenly, my baby begins kicking, reminding me that he needed nourishment.
I leave the room to find the kitchen and sure enough, the kitchen staff prepare a meal for me. I sit down at the breakfast table and eat my breakfast, wondering and thinking about not only my husband, but also Eric.
I had no idea what I was going to say to him tonight after he rose. I had no idea what I was going to say to Marten.
"What a mess," I say under my breath.
This had always been my dream, my hope that Eric would return to me, but now things were different. I was in love with another man and not only was I married to that man, I was also pregnant with his baby.
I could feel that baby was satisfied and was now resting, I walk around the main floor, towards, the French doors that overlooked the pool and scenery. I close my eyes and breath in and open my eyes again to take in the breathtaking view.
"Sookie," a low raspy voice calls out to me.
Immediately, I turn my head and see him. There were no words to describe the feelings I was going through as I see this man standing about five feet away from me.
It was Eric. And he was standing there, alive, and in the sunlight, not burning like he should as a vampire.
I suddenly find myself feeling faint from the shock.
What was going on?!
