Serena goes to Kanto and meets Ash to take on the Kanto Pokémon contests. With Serena and Ash in love from the start, how will their relationship grow throughout. How will Serena do in the contests. Read to find out. Rated T for minor language.

5. Chapter 5: Mt Moon

Before the story continues, I want to address something. I haven't mentioned the Pokemon that Ash, Serena and Brock have on hand. Most of it is canon to the anime itself, but here are the lineups and learnsets.

Ash

Pikachu: Thunderbolt, Iron Tail, Electroweb, Quick Attack

Charizard: Flamethrower, Wing Attack, Slash, Dragon Tail

Snorlax (I know, an oldie): Hyper Beam, Ice Punch, Mega Punch, Protect

Episode 5: Mt. Moon and the Stolen Moon Stone

Ash, Serena and Brock are at the entrance of Mt. Moon, ready to go in. However, they're dealing with a horde of Zubat and Golbat blocking the entrance.

"Pikachu, Thunderbolt !"

"Pancham, Stone Edge!"

"Crobat, Whirlwind!"

The attacks hit in succession, knocking down every single Zubat and Golbat.

"Well, that solves the problem. Let's go!"

"Right behind you, Brock!"

The trio walk into Mt. Moon, passing by several floors, encountering several Pokemon, once again striking a conversation between all three.

"Remember when we first went through Mt. Moon, Brock?"

"Just made me old, yeah, I do. Who was the person who accompanied us in Mt. Moon?"

"If I can interject, Ash, how long ago was this?"

"Pff, 15 years, yeah, sounds right."

For context, and this is deviating from the anime, but both Ash and Serena are the same age, about 25 years old. Brock is 28.

"Just made all of us old, Ash. Thanks."

"Hey, I'm sorry, Serena. Figure mentioning it wouldn't hurt."

"AHHHHH!"

"What was that? Let's go!"

All of them run to the source of the scream, where Ash and Brock find a familiar face, but much older.

"Is that you, Seymour?"

"Help me, the Paras are trying to plant their mushrooms on my back!"

"Does it actually hurt, though?"

"Damn it, you called my bluff. Can you get them off me though?"

"Yeah, sure."

"So, Ash and Brock, been a while hasn't it?"

"It sure has. Still studying the moon stone, I see?"

"Yeah, Ash, still working on it. Research takes a while. Who is that?"

"My girlfriend, Serena."

"Nice to meet you."

"Same here."

"Brock, want to see some of my research."

"We've got time to kill, at least I think. Serena, how long until Pokemon Contest?"

"Like 5 days, we've got plenty of time."

"Okay, we're got time. Let's go see."

"Awesome, let's go."

All three plus Seymour go to an area within the cave to look at research.

"Okay people, he's my research."

"I could never do this amount of research, what about you, Serena?"

"Not a chance, Ash. I admire his work, but this is a bit excessive."

"It's not excessive, it's a masterpiece."

"Alright, I'm sorry."

"Why do all this? Is there a certain reason?"

"Remember about the abnormally large moon stone. I'm still wondering whether or not it actually is a moon stone or a meteorite that the Clefairy and Clefable revolve around, and now with the introduction of Cleffa, my research has gotten more interesting."

"Begs the question why we saw them evolve when we first visited here, right Brock?"

"Yeah, very interesting."

"Hey, Seymour, is this part of the meteorite or moon stone?"

"Can't tell, young lady, I'd have to look."

"It's sparkling though, but don't know if it'd make a Clefairy evolve?"

"Let's test it out. Clefairy, come on out!"

Seymour's Clefairy comes out and immediately touches the small fragment that Serena has in her hand, and starts to evolve.

"So it was part of a Moon Stone. Well, I'll have a Clefable, now."

Clefable finishes evolving and goes back into Seymour's Pokeball.

"Seymour, I got an idea, take a fragment of the large rock and see if a Clefairy will evolve or not."

"Sounds like an idea, Ash. Let's try it."

Just as Seymour is about to take a sample of the rock, a large crane comes out of nowhere and manages to lift the rock up, angering the Clefairy and Clefable, and scaring off the Cleffa.

"The hell, who is that?"

"Prepare for trouble when the moon in shining…"

"Oh shut up, we've heard the motto a thousand times."

"Hey, old twerp, we take pride in our motto."

"Yeah, and your motto is absolutely stupid, Team Rocket, now what do you want?"

"We're taking the moon stone for ourselves."

"Why? You don't have any Pokemon that evolve through a Moon Stone."

"We can send to the big boss and he can get rich off of it. Could also be a Meteorite and be worth thousands more."

"And you're actually going to try to haul that big ass rock all the way to your HQ. Considering your history, I doubt it."

"Shut it, twerp, we're out of here."

"Won't the crane break?"

"No James, it's made of hardened steel. It's indestructible. Seviper, use Haze!"

Seviper uses Haze, blinding all four.

"We need to get back that rock, but how?"

"Don't worry, Seymour. We'll get it back."

With Team Rocket.

"Let's enjoy this celebration, shall we!"

"Absolutely, Meowth. Let's toast."

"Ah, this will make us filthy rich."

"James, you're rich already. You'll just get more rich."

"Alright, alright. Let's just enjoy this."

"Woo-hoo"

From overhead, Ash's Staraptor is monitoring their balloon, and reports to Ash and company.

"Staraptor, did you find them."

"Star!"

"Lead the way!"

By this time, Team Rocket had landed, thankfully with the Moon Stone unharmed.

"We got the Moon Stone, we got the Moon Stone!"

"It's just a rock, it'll get us rich, but nothing more. Quit gloating, Meowth."

"Do you always have to ruin everything, Jessie?"

"When you're overacting, then sure."

Out of nowhere, three Flamethrowers from Ash's Charizard and Serena's Delphox and Altaria attack the trio.

"Ugh, that was hot."

"Team Rocket, give us back the Moon Stone."

"Let me think about it, how about, no! Not that easy."

"Pikachu, let's go!"

"PIKA!"

"Seviper, come on out!"

"Carnivine, play time!"

Carnivine, as usual, bites James' head.

"I said play time, not bite time."

"Seviper, Poison Tail!"

"Carnivine, Vine Whip!"

Seviper and Carnivine charge at them.

"Pikachu, you know what to do."

"PIKA!"

Pikachu, in traditional fashion, uses Thunderbolt, which sends Carnivine and Seviper back to Team Rocket, sending them into another blast-off.

"The twerp didn't even need to say Thunderbolt. What is that?"

"He's dealt with us multiple times, I think he's getting tired of us."

"Let's not get hasty."

"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"

Back to the trio and Seymour.

"Now we've got another problem."

"What's that?"

"How are going to get the rock back to Mt. Moon?"

"Easy, Delphox come on out and use Psychic on the rock."

"Del-PHOX!"

Delphox uses Psychic, easily lifting the rock.

"Delphox, do you think you can lift the rock all the way to Mt. Moon?"

Delphox responds by nodding his head.

"Awesome, let's go!"

Back at Mt. Moon, Delphox already set down the Moon Stone.

"Alright, let's take that sample."

"So, is it a meteorite or a Moon Stone?"

"It's the meteorite, not a Moon Stone. Probably means that traces of Moon Stone are constantly coming off the meteorite and evolving the Clefairy."

All of a sudden, the Cleffa that ran away return and the Clefairy start to evolve off of the Moon Stone fragments.

"Awesome, it's so pretty, isn't it Ash?"

"It sure is."

The two share a quick kiss, then Serena lays her head on Ash's shoulder.

"Well, Seymour it was nice seeing you again."

"It sure was, Brock."

The two shake hands in respect to each others future endeavors.

"By the way, what are you doing, Brock?"

"I'm currently travelling with Ash, but I'm a practicing Pokemon doctor."

"Awesome, have you done any research?"

"Some research, I can send it your way if you want for further research."

"I'd appreciate it."

"Brock, let's go!"

"Alright, I've got to head out. See you later."

"See you Brock, looking forward to your research."

"Did you actually do research only pertaining to the Cleffa line, Brock?"

"A little bit, but a little research can go a long way."

"True. Let's head to Cerulean City. I think we can make it by sunrise."

"Sounds like a plan!"

About 5 hours later, the trio arrive at the outskirts of Cerulean City. It's about 6am.

"Cerulean City, here we are."

"The site of my first Kanto Pokemon Contest!"

"And the home of *gulp* one particular person."

"Ash, you okay?"

"I'm fine, I'm just scared of this person."

"Talking 'bout me?"

"Misty!"

"Been a while, hasn't it?"
