Many eventful things happened in the last chapter. Most notably, Serena and Misty actually got along very well. Also, Misty announced she was pregnant. At the end of the episode, Misty and Ash decided to have a battle, and the battle just started. Let's go. For context between Ash and any gym leader, it's not an official gym battle for a badge, it's a regular Pokemon battle.
Also, I haven't been putting Song of the Days for the last couple of chapters, so here's for those episodes. I apologize for that.
Episode 5: In The Air Tonight- Phil Collins (1981)
Episode 6: Interstate Love Song- Stone Temple Pilots (1994)
For information regarding Ash's Pokemon movesets, along with any other Pokemon that belong to Serena or Brock, refer to Episode 5. With that long introduction, enjoy.
Something More?: A Pokemon Story
Episode 7- Cerulean City: Part Two- Misty vs. Ash, Battle of Old Times
At the end of last episode, Ash and Misty started their Pokemon battle, with Tracey as referee.
"The Pokemon battle between Ash Ketchum, the challenger, and Misty, the gym leader is about to begin. Each side will use 3 Pokemon, and each side will be able to use substitutions. Are both trainers ready?"
"Yes, we are!"
"With that said, battle begin!"
"Just remember Ash, just because I'm your friend doesn't mean I'll go easy."
"I'm not that naive, anymore, bring it on!"
"You're amped up. Alright, Politoed, lets…"
Misty gets interrupted by a Pokeball activating on its own, releasing her Psyduck.
"Psyduck, why did you pop out?"
Psyduck holds its head and says "Psy."
"Get back in your ball, Psyduck."
"Psy."
"Um, Brock, does Psyduck usually do that?"
"Yes, it does. Should've seen her when she first caught Psyduck. It was hilarious."
"With that squared away, Politoed, let's go!"
"Poli. Poli. Politoed."
Politoed's Moveset: Mega Punch, Bounce, Focus Blast, Hydro Pump
"Goodra, I choose you!"
"Goooo-dra!"
"Ah, a dragon type Ash? Not a bad choice."
"Thanks. Let's get started."
"Battle begin!"
"Politoed, Mega Punch!"
"Dodge it!". Goodra easily dodges that attack. "Use Dragon Pulse!"
Goodra sends a multi-colored Dragon Pulse towards the direction of Politoed, who dodges it easily with its evasion.
"Bounce, now!"
"Catch it when it comes down!"
Goodra manages to catch Poiltoed on the way down.
"Figured you might do that, Ash. Focus Blast!"
Politoed focuses a big blue orb into its hand, and is about to hit Goodra square on.
"Bide!"
A string of red energy surrounds Goodra as the Focus Blast hits Goodra, leaving the area in a field of smoke. When the smoke clears, Goodra has barely any scratches on it.
"Release the energy!"
Goodra releases the Bide energy, and with Politoed unable to dodge due to it being in mid-air, Politoed gets hit with the brunt of the impact.
"Politoed, are you okay?"
"Poli!"
"Alright. That was nice, Ash."
"Thanks, but don't think I'm backing down. Use Rain Dance!"
Using Rain Dance, Goodra summons a large rain cloud across the battlefield. The three sisters on the sideline opposite Serena and Brock, aren't happy.
"Ah, we need umbrellas!"
"Not my intention, but whatever."
"What are you planning, Ash?"
"Just wait. Use Ice Beam on the clouds."
Goodra uses Ice Beam on the clouds, but instead of creating snow, it sends tiny ice pellets down the ground, some of them hitting Politoed at great force.
"Pol-Pol-Pol!"
"Ah, Politoed, you alright?"
"That was a nice strategy by Ash."
"It sure was. He used Rain Dance in a very unconventional way."
"He did. Hmm, maybe I could adapt that in my contest practice."
The ice pellets stop coming down, but Politoed's head is definitely hurting.
"Politoed, do you need a rest?"
"Pol-Pol." (basically saying No.)
"Are you sure?"
"Poli!"
"Alright, let's go!"
"Wow, your Politoed has some guts to continue after those pellets of ice."
"You're right about that. Use Focus Blast!"
"Ice Beam!"
Both attacks collide with one another, creating another large field of smoke. Their power seems matched.
"Dragon Pulse through the smoke!"
"WHAT!"
Unable to see, Politoed is unable to dodge the Dragon Pulse, hitting it and sending it into a wall, knocking it out immediately.
"Politoed, are you okay?"
"Polliii…"
"Politoed is unable to battle. Goodra wins!"
"Politoed, you did great. Return and have a rest."
"Ash, you've gotten better at disadvantages and turning them into advantages."
"Why do you think I'm a world champion?"
"Fair enough, but there's still time for me to win!"
"Bring it on!"
"Corsola, let's go!"
"COR-SOLA!"
Corsola's moveset: Tackle, Recover, Spike Cannon, Bubble Beam
"Battle begin!"
"Goodra, Dragon Pulse!"
"Dodge it, then use Tackle!"
Goodra's Dragon Pulse barely misses, and Corsola lands a successful Tackle, though it doesn't do much.
"Ice Beam!"
"Spike Cannon!"
The Ice Beam is stopped dead in its tracks by Spike Cannon, with the Spike Cannon hitting Goodra square on,
"Goodra, you okay?"
"Goo!"
"Alright, use Rain Dance!"
Goodra once again summons a rain cloud, but he doesn't realize he made a blunder.
"Bubble Beam!"
Corsola's Bubble Beam hits Goodra, at an increased power due to Rain Dance, leaving Goodra vulnerable.
"Use Tackle!"
"Catch it with your ears again!"
Corsola gets caught in Goodra's ears, something Misty already figures out is a go-to strategy.
"Really, Ash, catching another Pokemon. You should know what happens by now."
"I'm well aware, Misty."
"Spike Cannon!"
"Use Bide!"
The Spike Cannon hits Goodra, but the use of Bide lessens the damage taken.
"Release Bide!"
The Bide energy hits Corsola square on, sending Corsola into the water in a heap.
"Corsola, you okay?"
"Cor.."
"Use Recover!"
"I forgot Corsola was able to use Recover."
Corsola finishes the use of Recover, getting back up on its feet quickly with renewed strength.
"Use Bubble Beam!"
Goodra, having to recharge from using Bide a second time, gets hit by the Bubble Beam, which is still powered up by the Rain Dance, still in effect.
"Goodra, stay strong!"
"Use Spike Cannon!"
Spike Cannon hits Goodra, knocking it out.
"Goodra, can you still battle."
"Gooo…"
"Goodra is unable to battle. Corsola wins!"
"Corsola, great job!"
"Goodra, you did great."
"Goodra!"
"Take a rest. Nice use of Rain Dance, Misty."
"I know my water types well, you should know that."
"I do, and I had a little blunder. Oh, well."
"Seems like Ash is still amped up. Let's go, Ash!"
"Thanks, Serena. Sceptile, I choose you!"
"SCEP-TILE!"
"He chose Sceptile. That's not good for Misty."
"How come, besides the type advantage?"
"His Sceptile back in the Sinnoh League took out a Darkrai and almost took out another legendary. Sceptile is very strong, one of his best Pokemon he has."
"I can tell, Sceptile looks good."
"Battle begin!"
"Spike Cannon!"
"Dodge it!"
Sceptile, with its unmatched speed, easily dodges all of the Spike Cannon pellets.
"Use Leaf Blade!"
"Dodge it, Corsola!"
Corsola tries to dodge it, but due to its high speed, it takes two Leaf Blades head on.
"Corsola, try to get up!", Misty pleads.
"Cor, Cor, Cor…"
"Ah, Corsola!"
"Corsola is unable to battle. Sceptile is the winner!"
"Corsola, are you okay?"
"Cor-sola."
"Thank goodness! Have a nice rest."
"That Sceptile is very speedy."
"And very strong. Took out a legendary and almost took out another. One of my most reliable Pokemon I have."
"I can tell. Anyway, I say we take a little break for lunch. I'm starving. How about you?"
"Sounds like a plan! Let's eat."
"This battle is paused. Let's eat."
"Come on down guys!"
"Meet you down there in a few."
Song of the Day: Across the River- Bruce Hornsby and the Range (1990)
After about 45 minutes of recharging and eating lunch, everybody is back to where they were.
"You know what Pokemon is up next, right Ash?"
"I know exactly what it is."
"Brock, what Pokemon is her last?"
"You'll find out."
"Gyarados, come on out!"
Gyarados comes out of its Pokeball in majestic and menacing fashion.
Gyarados' Moveset: Hydro Pump, Rain Dance, Hurricane, Crunch
"What the- Brock, she has a Gyarados?"
"Heh heh, yeah, she does. It's very powerful, and scary."
"I can tell it's scary, thanks Captain Obvious!"
"Use Leaf Storm!"
"Counter with Hurricane!"
Leaf Storm gets sent everywhere but in Gyarados' direction by Hurricane, which is sent Sceptile's way.
"Dodge it!"
Despite Sceptile's speed, Hurricane catches up to it, inflicting heavy damage on Sceptile.
"Sceptile!"
"Use Hydro Pump!"
Hydro Pump, despite being not very effective, manages to knock out Sceptile with ease.
"Scep, Scep…"
"Sceptile is unable to battle. Gyarados wins!"
"Wow, Brock, that was quick. Sceptile is very strong and he still got defeated very quickly."
"Yeah, I'm shocked. He's still got one more Pokemon."
"Pikachu, get in there!"
"PIKA!"
"Gyarados vs. Pikachu. Dream match, right Ash?"
"I guess."
"Battle begin."
"Pikachu, Quick Attack!"
"PIKA!"
"Gyarados, use Crunch!"
Pikachu evades Crunch easily, hitting Gyarados with Quick Attack.
"Why doesn't Gyarados dodge?"
"It can, but its too big to dodge logically. It's also very bulky, so it can take relatively small attacks like Quick Attack."
"Electroweb, now!"
"Hydro Pump!"
Both attacks hit each other with matching strength.
"Rain Dance!"
Gyarados, like Goodra earlier, summons a dark cloud, but larger, and the battlefield begins to downpour.
"Hydro Pump!"
"Thunderbolt!"
Once again, the attacks cancel each other out.
"Looks like I have no other choice. Gyarados, Mega Evolve!"
"Here we go."
Gyarados finishes Mega Evolving, revealing a black and blue Gyarados with red fin highlights (or whatever it actually looks like).
"Right back at you, Misty. Pikachu, let's get stronger, and grow!"
Ash activates a mechanism that allows him to Gigantamax his Pikachu. For reasons, I'm not putting in the whole "3 turns for Dynamax/Gigantamax rule". They'll stay Mega Evolved/Gigantamax for the rest of the battle.
"Um, what just happened, Brock?"
"It's called Gigantamax, and it is what is sounds. It also allows Pikachu to use a certain move exclusive to him, G-Max Volt Crash."
"Shall we wrap this up, Misty?"
"Let's do it. Gyarados, use Hydro Pump!"
"Pikachu, G-Max Volt Crash!"
Both attacks collide, while also hitting both Gyarados and Pikachu. When the smoke clears, both Pokemon are still standing, seemingly without a scratch. You can imagine the scene, Misty and Ash on the battlefield waiting to see which Pokemon goes first, Brock and Serena on the edge of their seats waiting to find out who wins, and Tracey waiting in suspense to declare one of the Pokemon unable to battle.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Gyarados goes down in a heap, reverting back to its normal form. Pikachu on the other hand, reverts back to his normal form.
"Gyarados is unable to battle! Pikachu wins, and the winner is Ash!"
"Pikachu, we did it!"
"Congrats, Ash. What a battle."
"Thanks, Misty."
Serena comes from behind him and hugs him tightly.
"Oh, hello."
"Hi, honey. Congrats."
"Thanks. I think its time to finalize your stuff for the Pokemon Contest and register."
"Yes, I do, although I registered a day ago remotely."
"Thought you had to do that in person?"
"Not anymore. Mr. Contesta allowed Coordinators to register remotely a couple of years ago."
"Well that's a change. 2 days until the Contest starts. Prepare wisely, honey."
"You know I will."
Serena gives Ash a quick peck.
"Shall we get something to eat and tour around."
"Doesn't sound like a bad idea. Still got time to relax."
"Alright, let's do it!"
So Ash won in a classic match. How will Serena's contest preparation go for the Cerulean City Pokemon Contest. Find out in the next episode.
