Domino City was bustling, as usual, with citizens going about their business as two teenagers were in the middle of a duel. The first teenager had a cocky smirk on his whiskered face and blue eyes full of mischief. This teenage duelist was wearing a dark red jacket over a plain black t-shirt and jeans. His hair was a bright golden blonde that was wild and spiky. This is Naruto Uzumaki.

"This duel is about to be over! First, I'll activate the spell card Ancient Rules. This allows me to summon a monster that would normally require a tribute. So come forth, Attack Volcano Dragon!" Our hero said to his opponent.

Ancient Rules: Normal Spell: Special Summon one Level 5 or higher Normal Monster from your hand.

A fiery red-scaled dragon with bright yellow eyes appeared on Naruto's side of the field. Its massive scarlet wings were out, and it unleashed a violent roar.

Attack Volcano Dragon: Att: Fire/ Type: Dragon/ Level: 7/ ATK: 2300/ DEF:2000

Naruto's opponent looked on fearfully as there was nothing he could do to prevent Naruto's dragon from attacking him directly. Naruto felt no pity.

"Go Attack Volcano Dragon! Finish this duel." Naruto ordered, and his dragon did just that. Flames spilled from the mighty creature, dropping Naruto's opponent's life points to zero. "Next time, think twice before dueling me, punk!" Naruto called out to the duelist who had challenged him. Attack Volcano Dragon gave off one last roar of victory, and Naruto could almost feel his monster's pride. It was a feeling that he returned wholeheartedly.

"Naruto, where have you been?" The voice of the one person who could reasonably keep him in line asked Naruto as he walked into his home. It was a dark-skinned woman with long dark hair, kindly brown eyes, and an aura of warmth. She was wearing a long red dress with a white apron.

"Sorry about coming back so late, Martha. I was just getting a last-minute duel before tomorrow," Naruto said to his foster mother as he walked into their modest home. "The boys didn't give you trouble, did they?"

The boys he referred to were a trio of troublemakers known as Yusei, Jack, and Crow. His foster brothers were some of the best at causing trouble even when they didn't mean to. They did learn from the best after all.

"Nothing too bad. Just the usual squabbles between Jack and Crow. Thankfully, Yusei was there to calm them both. I just sent them and the others upstairs to get ready for bed." Martha answered with a smile. "Now tell me, are you prepared for tomorrow?"

Tomorrow was his Duel Academy entrance exam, and Naruto would be lying if he said he wasn't a slight bit nervous, though he was confident that his deck wouldn't let him down.

"More than prepared, Martha, but are you sure it's okay for me to do this? I'm still not crazy about leaving you and the kids like this." For as long as Naruto had been alive, Martha had been the one to take care of him. She was the closest thing he had to a mom, and Naruto almost felt like he was abandoning her and the younger kids to their fates here in the Domino City Slums.

"We'll be fine, Naruto. And you need to do this." Martha reassured with a smile. "You're an amazing duelist, Naruto. Duel Academy isn't going to know what hit them."

"I can't believe that little brat messed with my alarm clock!" Naruto muttered as he rushed through Kaibaland's Kaibadome. "If I wasn't about to be late, I would have throttled Crow!" His young foster brother was as mischievous as he was, so he couldn't be too mad. "Luckily, I had you guys wake me up." A symphony of roars replied to him, his deck eager to show off their power.

After checking in, Naruto made his way to the duel fields where numerous test duels were taking place. The Central Academy was known for having some of the toughest entrance exams, and while Naruto had faith and confidence in his deck, that didn't mean he didn't want to check out his challenges.

On one of the duel fields, there was a teenager with short back hair facing one of the proctors. On his side of the field were a Vorse Raider and a Set card while the proctor had a Gear Golem the Moving Fortress and Big Shield Gardna, both in defense position

Vorse Raider: Att: Dark/ Type: Beast-Warrior/ Level: Four/ ATK: 1900/ DEF:1200

Big Shield Gardna: Att: Earth/ Type: Warrior/ Level: Four/ ATK: 100/ DEF: 2600

Effect: If this card is attacked, change it to Attack Position at the end of the damage step.

"So tell me, kid. How do you plan to get around my ultimate defense deck?" The proctor asked with a raised brow. "Your choices to the question are A. Give up! B. Go home! and C. Run crying to your momma!"

"I choose D. None of the above!" The teen answered as he activated his facedown card. "I'm ending this duel with Ring of Destruction! And with it, I'll target my Vorse Raider!"

Ring of Destruction: Trap: Destroy one face-up monster on the field and inflict damage to both duelists equal to that monster's Attack Points.

"What!" The proctor exclaimed as the ring appeared around Vorse Raider's neck. The monster gave out one last roar before an explosion erupted around it, damaging both the challenger and the proctor.

"Hmph, nice dueling kid. Welcome to Duel Academy." The proctor complimented Bastion and the teen returned it with a bow.

"Thank you, wise proctor."

"He's got a sharp mind. Could be a challenge." Naruto thought to himself with a smirk. He needed a challenge.

"That's that wiz-kid Bastion Misawa." One teenager said to two others. The three teens wore blue blazers, though the leader of them looked far more arrogant than the others.

"I heard he aced the written portion of the exam."

"Who cares about these scrubs? They'll soon learn their place. I'll see to that." The arrogant duelist replied. Naruto walked away after he started talking. He hated arrogance, especially unproven arrogance.

"Take note, guys. If we ever get a chance to duel that prick, we're gonna crush him." Naruto thought to his deck who whole-heartily agreed with their duelist. One spirit, in particular, was the loudest. An ancient dragon that was eager to crush anyone in their way.

"That seems to be the last of the new students." One of the proctors said from their room on the second floor.

"We've got a pretty good crop of students this year." Another proctor said with a smile as he looked down at the aspiring duelist. This proctor had brown hair pulled back into a ponytail and a large scar that ran across the bridge of his nose. "Wouldn't you say so, Dr. Crowler?"

"They're not terrible, Iruka, but I still believe there are far too many slackers in the crowd." Dr. Velian Crowler said to his younger colleague. Crowler was a tall man with light blonde and a rather effeminate appearance.

"Excuse me, I'm sorry to interrupt you, Mr. Crowler. But we have two applicants that have just arrived."

"Did you call me mister?" The head proctor said, annoyed.

"Here we go..." Iruka thought to himself with a sigh. Crowler was an easily riled-up individual who took pride in everything he did as the newbie proctor was about to find out.

"I'm sorry. I'm new here, miss..."

"It's Doctor, you buffoon! I have a Ph.D. in dueling thank you very much." Crowler replied loudly. "Now tell these truants they'll have to come back next year."

"Come on now, Dr. Crowler." Iruka cut in quickly. "We have time for two more duels."

"Yeah, let's give these duelists a fair shot." Another proctor agreed with a nod. Crowler turned to the two with a nasty look on his face.

"LATE IS RUDE!" Crowler screeched before taking a deep breath to calm down. "Besides, I have no time for slackers." A ringing came from Crowler's pocket. He pulled out his cell phone and answered it. "Hello, and who may I ask is this?"

"It's Sheppard." The voice of his boss answered, and Crowler quickly recovered.

"Ahh, Chancellor Sheppard! What can I do for you?"

"Just calling to make sure everything's running smoothly, Crowler. Wouldn't want a repeat of what happened last year." Crowler noticeably flinched, causing Iruka to chuckle. "When you cut a third of our student applicants for some ridiculous reason. What was it? Calling you, mister or misses? Just make sure everyone gets a fair shot."

"Absolutely Chancellor," Crowler replied before hanging up his phone. "That furry-chinned windbag. Doesn't he realize that our school already has enough talentless flunkies as is?" Crowler muttered lowly with a frown. That frown quickly turned into a smirk. "They need to be tested, do they... Pardon me, gentleman. I'll return shortly." Crowler announced as he stood up.

"But who's going to duel these last two applicants and what exam deck shall they use?" A proctor asked as Crwoler began to walk away.

"Leave that to me."

"Are they gonna announce my name or what?" Naruto asked aloud as he waited for his duel. Patience was never one of his strongest qualities and was quickly growing bored.

"Grrr!" A small growl replied to him, and Naruto looked at his shoulder. Perched there was a tiny dragon with light orange scales and deep green eyes that only Naruto could see.

"Hello there, Kidmodo." Naruto greeted the tiny duel spirit with a fond smile. "Looks like someone else is ready to duel, huh?" The little dragon nodded, and Naruto chuckled, hoping to go unnoticed. He failed as unknown to him, a beautiful girl about his age, who noticed his demeanor. She had long dark blonde hair and hazel eyes that watched Naruto curiously. Her outfit was the standard Obelisk blue female uniform: a blue skirt with a light blue belt, a white sleeveless jacket that showed off her rather developed body, and blue boots.

"Are you coming, Alexis?" The voice of her a tall older teen with long dark blue hair called out to her. He was wearing a white version of the Obelisk Blue uniform, and a rather serious look was on his face.

"Right behind you, Zane," Alexis answered though her eyes were still locked in on the sitting blonde. There was something about him that was vaguely familiar to her.

"Will Jade Yuki report to the duel field? On deck is Naruto Uzumaki." An announcer called out. Naruto smirked as eager growls echoed throughout his head. His deck was getting rowdy. His eyes turned toward the duelist who approached the duel field, and he'd have been lying if he said he didn't like what he saw.

Jade was a girl about his age with short brunette hair and deep brown eyes. She wore a black jacket over a red t-shirt that stretched to contain her generous C-Cup breasts, a white skirt, and black and red shoes.

"Let's see what she's got." Naruto thought to himself as her opponent appeared from below. Naruto didn't think much of this, Dr. Crowler. "What a weirdo." He mumbled as Crowler stepped forward with two assistants helping him with his duel vest.

His eyes never left the field as both duelists began to summon monsters. Crowler relied on the Ancient Gear archetype, a deck focused on summoning the Ancient Gear Golem. It was brutal and made to terrify opponents, while Jade used the Elemental Heroes a deck that revolved around fusion summoning. However, there was one small puffball that didn't match her deck.

"Winged Kuriboh, huh? This just got a bit more interesting..." Naruto mumbled to himself. Jade was a good duelist. A little rough around the edges, perhaps, but she had good instincts. And if he was right, she had the right cards to end this duel.

"Now I play Polymerization to fuse my Elemental HERO's Avian and Burstinatrix to fusion summon Elemental HERO Flame Wingman!" Jade announced as her two heroes, one a green-winged male with talons and the other a red-body-suited woman, fused to make a dual-colored red and green hero with a dragon head attached to his arm and large wings on his back.

Elemental HERO Flame Wingman: Att: Wind/ Type: Warrior/ Level: 6/ ATK: 2100/ DEF: 1200

Effect: When this card destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster.

"Not bad, Jade..." Naruto said with a grin as Jade activated her next card, Skyscraper. A field spell card that added a thousand attack points to an Elemental HERO. In fact, it was a very good duel. Jade was rough around the edges, but a place like Duel Academy would do nothing but help hone her skills.

"Will Naruto Uzumaki report to the duel field?" It was time. Naruto stood up from his seat and made his way down.

Jade was still bouncing from her victory, and as Naruto passed her on his way down, he flashed her a smirk. Jade saw it and blushed slightly. A loud roaring echoed through his head. His partner roared in his head as a a reminder that he needed to stay focused.

"Relax, big guy, we can take this guy down." Naruto mentally said to his Ace.

Dr. Crowler was still standing in the middle of the duel field. The duel professor was still in shock from his defeat by Jade that he barely registered Naruto.

"Yo Teach, are you okay? I know Jade beat you and all, but that's no reason to go brain-dead on us." Naruto taunted electing laughs from the crowd. Up at the top of the stadium, Alexis couldn't believe what she was watching. She had to give Naruto some credit. The other blonde had guts.

"I don't think I've ever seen anyone openly mock Crowler like this," Zane said with the same stern expression.

"Grrr!" Crowler was more than a little angry now. To be defeated by one slacker was bad enough, but to be mocked by a slacker was too much. "Big talk, Mr. Uzumaki. Let's see if your dueling skills are as good as Ms. Yuki's."

A smirk grew on Naruto's face "Oh I think my dueling skills are more than good enough." Naruto replied as he activated his duel disk.

The two opponents faced each other.

"Let's duel!" Naruto and Crowler shouted at the same time.

Naruto LP: 4000

Crowler LP: 4000

"I think I'll go first," Naruto said as he drew his hand. "First, I'll activate my Graceful Charity spell card. Now, I can draw three more cards as long as I ditch two cards after I draw." Naruto drew three more cards before picking two and sending them to the graveyard.

Graceful Charity: Normal Spell: Draw Three cards, then discard two cards.

"Next up, I'll summon my Golem Dragon in defense mode and place two cards face down. And that will end my turn."

A large brown-scaled armored dragon appeared on Naruto's side of the field. It snarled at Crowler before taking a defensive position in front of Naruto.

Golem Dragon/ Att: Earth/ Type: Dragon/ Level: Four/ ATK: 1300/ DEF: 2000

Effect: Your opponent cannot target face-up Dragon-type monsters for attacks, except for this one.

"Is that all you have to show? I'm not impressed, Mr. Uzumaki." Crowler stated with a bored look on his face.

"Trust me, Crowler, you haven't seen anything yet," Naruto shot back.

"Very well. It's my turn." Crowler drew a card. "I'll start by summoning my Red Gadget in attack mode." A red mechanical monster appeared on Crowler's side of the field. "And with its effect, I can now add my Yellow Gadget to my hand!"

Red Gadget: Att: Earth/ Type: Machine/ Level: Four/ ATK: 1300/ DEF: 1500

Effect: When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Yellow Gadget" from your deck to your hand.

"And next I'll activate my Field Spell Geartown!" Crowler revealed placing the card in the slot. The field immediately shifted into a steampunk-like town made out of gears.

Geartown: Field Spell: Both players can Normal Summon Ancient Gear monsters for one less tribute. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon one Ancient Gear monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard.

Back in the stands, Zane watched with a raised brow. "Looks like Crowler is done playing around..."

Alexis carefully watched Naruto, expecting some reaction, but the blonde looked calm and cool. "I don't know, something tells me this Naruto is prepared for anything Crowler throws at him."

"It's not like you to take such an interest in a duelist like this, Alexis," Zane said with a small smirk.

"There's something familiar about him, Zane, I just can't put my finger on it," Alexis replied.

"C'mon guys, let me see!" A young voice caught Alexis's attention The voice belonged to a young boy with spiky orange hair. He was trying to look down at the duel field, but two slightly older boys were blocking his view.

"Pipe down, Crow! Before someone hears us and kicks us out." One of the boys hissed. He appeared slightly older than Crow, with spiked blonde hair and deep purple eyes.

"Screw you Jack and move!" Crow snapped comically. The third boy glared at them. His name was Yusei, and he was the most level-headed of the three. Yusei had black hair with strands of dark blonde, and he was wearing a light blue hooded jacket over a white t-shirt, gray cargo pants, and old beaten-up white sneakers.

"Will you two cut it out? Naruto's about to go." Jack and Crow turned back to the duel and watched their older brother figure react to the change in the field.

Naruto, for his part, looked at the changing field with a curious look. "Well, this is a different change in scenery." There wasn't a change in Crowler's monster attack points, so it must have had a different effect.

"And lastly, I'll play one card face down to end my turn," Crowler said, "It's your turn, Mr. Uzumaki."

"I will not be made a fool...AGAIN!" Crowler thought to himself furiously. He had taken Jade lightly, and as a result, he had embarrassed himself in front of hundreds of students. This time, he would be ready

"Not bad for a mascot." Naruto mocked as he drew a card. The crowd laughed at Crowler as he ground his teeth in anger.

"This will come in handy." Naruto thought to himself as he made his move. "First, I'll activate my face-down trap Dragon's Rebirth!"

Dragon's Rebirth: Trap: Target one Dragon-type monster you control; banish that target and if you do, Special Summon one Dragon-type monster from your hand or Graveyard.

"With this trap card, I'll take my current Dragon out of the game and trade him in for a monster I sent to the Graveyard," Naruto explained as his Golem Dragon disappeared as a tornado of flames engulfed the spot. "Say hello to Attack Volcano Dragon!" The tornado dispersed revealing the fiery red form of Naruto's dragon.

Attack Volcano Dragon: Att: Fire/ Type: Dragon/ Level: 7/ ATK: 2300/ DEF:2000

"I hope you're ready, Crowler. Go Attack Volcano Dragon!" Naruto ordered. His mighty fire dragon roared before unleashing a powerful blast of fire from its jaws. Crowler's Red Gadget was easily destroyed.

Crowlers LP: 4000-1000=3000

Crowler growled at the loss of life points. It was time to show this slacker his place.

"That ends my turn, Crowler," Naruto said with a small smirk. This was almost too easy. Crowler's arrogance was about to be his downfall.

"Very well," Crowler said, drawing a card. "First, I'll activate my spell card Double Summon. This allows me to summon twice this turn. And I'll start with my Yellow Gadget!"

Double Summon: Normal Spell: The player can conduct two normal summons/sets this turn.

A mechanical monster identical to the Red Gadget appeared on the field only this monster was a shade of yellow.

Yellow Gadget: Att: Earth/ Type: Machine/ Level: Four/ ATK: 1200/ DEF: 1200

Effect: When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add one Green Gadget from your deck to your hand.

"But don't get used to my Yellow Gadget, Mr. Uzumaki. Because I sacrifice it to summon forth my Ancient Gear Gadjetron Dragon!" Crowler's Yellow Gadget disappeared, replaced by a much larger problem. The mighty mechanical Dragon was a strong creature. Massive robotic wings connected to an armored body. It was larger than his current dragon, but he knew of an even stronger monster.

Ancient Gear Gadjitron Dragon: Att: Earth/ Type: Machine/ Level: Eight/ ATK: 3000/ DEF:2000

Effect: If this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate any Spells/Trap cards until the end of the Damage Step. This card gains the appropriate effects if you Normal Summon it by tributing these monsters

Green Gadget: If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing damage to your opponent.

Red Gadget: If this card inflicts battle damage on your opponent: Inflict 400 damage to your opponent's life points.

Yellow Gadget: If this card destroys a monster by battle: Inflict 600 damage to your opponent's life points.

In the stands, Jade and Syrus were watching with confused looks on each of their faces.

"How did Prof. Crowler summon his Gadjitron Dragon? It thought it took two tributes to summon it?" Syrus asked.

"That would be the effects of his Geartown field spell. Its ability allows Ancient Gear monsters to be summoned with one less sacrifice than usual." Bastion explained. This duel was looking to be promising.

"Crowler sure has a lot of ways of summoning those monsters of his," Jade said as she once again gazed at the mechanical behemoth.

"Indeed..." agreed Bastion with a curious look on his face. He wondered how the blonde duelist would counter.

"I activate a trap card. Go, Waboku!" Naruto called out. An aura of energy appeared around Attack Volcano Dragon

Waboku: Normal Trap: You take no Battle Damage this turn. Your monsters cannot be destroyed by battle this turn.

"This nifty little trap protects both my dragon and my life points," Naruto said with a smirk. For the next part of his plan, he needed Attack Volcano Dragon on the field and just one more card.

"Oh, very well. My next turn will be your last Mr. Uzumaki. My Gadjitron Dragon is going to tear your monster apart." Crowler said arrogantly as he finished his turn.

Naruto glared at the instructor, a look his dragon seemed to share. The mighty dragon looked at his duelist.

"Do it, my lord. Summon our King. Crush this WORM!" Naruto heard the voice of his monster. And he agreed wholeheartedly.

Naruto drew a card from his deck and grinned at the sight.

"You ready, my friend?" Naruto asked. "It's time for me to end this duel, Crowler. And because of that last comment, I'm going to give you a special treat. First, I'll activate my Cost-Down spell card!"

Cost-Down: Normal Spell: Discard 1 card; for the rest of the turn reduce the levels of all monsters in your hand by 2 (even after they are summoned.)

"This spell card drops the level of every monster in my hand by two, at the cost of sending one card to the graveyard," Naruto explained with a sharp grin. It was time to end this duel.

"Go ahead. Play your last pathetic card." Crowler mocked confidently.

"My deck has no pathetic cards. But it does have..." Naruto grinned as he revealed his monster. "The mighty Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" Power surged through Naruto as Attack Volcano Dragon disappeared and in its place was one of the strongest dragons in duel monsters. A mighty beast with gleaming white scales and massive wings appeared on the field. Fierce blues eyes locked in on Crowler, and a devastating roar echoed through the Kaibadome.

Blue Eyes White Dragon: Att: Light/ Type: Dragon/ Level: 8/ ATK:3000/ DEF: 2500

"What?!" Crowler exclaimed, shocked. In the stands, there were some similar reactions.

"That's impossible!" Chazz said with wide eyes, his friends too stunned to say anything.

"Whoa! How awesome is that!" Jade cheered with a grin. When her day started, she never imagined seeing one of the legendary Blue-Eyes White Dragons. Syrus sat next to her, shaking in his seat.

"It's him!" Alexis said with wide eyes. She had never believed she would see him again.

"It's who Lex?" Zane asked, confused. Alexis didn't answer him for she was still too shocked to say anything.

"Quite the surprise, ain't it teach?" Naruto asked rhetorically. His ace did come as a shock to most people. After all, there were only four cards ever made with the three other cards owned by one of the most powerful men in the world. Naruto's dragon was special, though. It chose him.

(FOUR YEARS AGO)

"Well, that duel was boring," A much younger Naruto mumbled as he walked through Domino City. Every day, he dueled more opponents, and each day, he felt less satisfied with the opponents he faced. They weren't challenges anymore. Just stepping stones and minor obstacles. "I wonder if Mr. Muto, has any new cards in stock?" Perhaps that would cheer him up if he added a couple of new faces to his deck. Naruto quickly made his way to his next destination

Kame Gameshop was one of his favorite places in the whole city. It was the place where he obtained his first deck after all and was taught the game of Duel Monsters.

"Mr. Muto, are you home?" Naruto called out as he walked into the game shop. His eyes immediately scanned the numerous packs littering the shelves, but none caught his attention.

"Why, hello Naruto! It's good to see you, my boy." Solomon Muto was an older fellow who was still rather spry even in his mid-seventies. He was rather short but almost always jolly. "What brings you in today?"

"Well, I figured I'd take a look at your stock, but I can't seem to find any cards that match my deck," Naruto answered dejectedly.

"Hmm, you're still using your Dragon deck, correct?"

"The one and only!" Dragons were his go-to monsters. Their power was damn near unstoppable, and he felt a connection to them every time he placed them on his beaten-up duel disk. Naruto didn't have a lot in life. He was an orphan with nothing to his name and nothing to call his own, except his deck.

"Then I have a treat for you. In a different lifetime, I was a duelist and a darn good one if I do say so myself." Solomon began to explain to a curious Naruto. "A dear friend gifted me with a rare card that I think you'll get a kick out of." Solomon didn't like to show off this card after the last time he presented it, but Naruto was a good kid, a tad rash at times but good nonetheless and Solomon felt like he could trust the boy. With that in mind, Solomon reached into a hidden compartment and pulled out a small bundle.

"What kind of card is i- Whoa!" Naruto exclaimed, surprised. After all, it wasn't every day you saw one of the strongest cards in the game. The image on the card revealed a powerful white dragon that was one of the most famous monsters in the game and the personal ace of the head of Kaibacorp. "That's the Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"

Solomon nodded in confirmation. "Yes, my friend gave this to me as a sign of our friendship. It's one of my fondest treasures."

"But what happened to it?" Naruto asked as his eyes trailed the rip in the card, and packing tape was the only thing holding the two pieces of the card together.

"A misguided young man wanted this card very badly. I, of course, refused, and he didn't handle it well." Solomon answered the whiskered blonde.

"Hmph, what a jerk. How could anyone do this to such an amazing card." Naruto muttered. Suddenly, he heard what sounded like a roar, causing him to look around in shock.

"Are you alright, Naruto?" Solomon asked worriedly. The blonde teen looked spooked out of his mind.

"Did you hear that, Mr. Muto?"

"Hear what, my boy?"

"That roar?! You heard it right. It sounded like..." Naruto knew what he heard, but what he heard should be impossible. "Do you mind if I hold it, Mr. Muto?"

"Go right ahead, Naruto," Solomon said with a smile, knowing the youth would never do anything to the prized card.

Solomon gently placed the card in Naruto's hand, and he got a closer look at it. Three thousand attack points made it the strongest Normal Monster in the game, and Naruto still couldn't believe he was holding one. He examined the card some more before he looked at the eyes of the dragon, and to his surprise, they began to glow.

"What the hell?" Naruto exclaimed as the card lit up with white light. A light so bright it began to blind Naruto and Solomon.

"My word," Solomon said equally, surprised as the roar of a mighty dragon filled the card shop. The glass of the cases and window began to rattle as the light got fiercer. The image of a monster began to form before the two. A dragon with mighty wings and deep blue eyes stared at the young duelist before him.

Naruto was mesmerized by the sight before him, and he knew what the dragon was doing. It was judging him, and Naruto could do nothing to stop it. The dragon continued to peer at him before giving a slight nod, causing Naruto to sigh in relief. The light began to fade, and with it, the Blue Eyes.

"Did that just happen?" Naruto asked unsurely. He looked down at his hand, shocked once more. Where there was once one badly damaged card, there was now a restored one. "The Blue Eyes! It's like it's brand new!"

"It chose you," Solomon said with a look of disbelief before a loud chuckle erupted from him.

"This is insane," Naruto said thoroughly, freaked out. He went to hand the card back to Solomon, who refused to take it back. "What gives Mr. Muto?"

"I can no longer claim ownership of that card, Naruto," Solomon said to the young duelist. Solomon had seen many mysterious things in his long life. He had seen shadows come to life in demented games and been held hostage by those same shadows. He knew magic when he saw it. "The Blue Eyes chose you, Naruto."

"This is crazy Mr. Muto and besides this is your prized card!" Naruto tried to convince him. He was still trying to wrap his head around what just happened, but there was no explanation.

"What happened before us Naruto was the heart of a card bonding with you. That card and you were destined to meet Naruto, and I can not ignore that. I've been honored to hold this card for as long as I have, but now it is time for me to pass it to you." Solomon said with a sad smile. Though he would miss the Blue Eyes, he could not ignore what he had just seen. The mighty dragon needed to be played, and Naruto was the duelist it so desperately needed.

"Mr. Muto, I can't just-" Naruto tried one last time.

"Yes, you can, Naruto. Please use my card wisely."

Ever since that day, Naruto had tried to honor Mr. Muto and the Blue Eyes. They were a team. A team that had kept a low profile ever since. But now it was time to enter the spotlight.

Crowler shook away his shock. "Very impressive, Mr. Uzumaki. There's just one small problem. Both of our monsters have the same amount of attack points. So unless you want both of our monsters destroyed-"

"I'm done yet. I activate my spell card, Riryoku!" Naruto said with a grin. Energy flowed from the Ancient Gear Gadjitron Dragon and into Blue-Eyes electing a vicious roar from the dragon.

Riryoku: Normal Spell: Target 2 face-up monsters on the field; halve the ATK of 1 monster, and if you do add the lost ATK to the other monster. These effects last until the End Phase.

"What's going on? What's happening to my monster?!" Crowler screeched outraged as his monster started to rust and fall over.

"That would be the effect of my Riryoku spell card. It allows me to choose one monster on the field, cut its attack points in half, and then give the remaining attack points to my Blue-Eyes." Naruto explained as energy surged through his dragon.

Ancient Gear Gadjitron Dragon: 3000-1500=1500

Blue-Eyes White Dragon: 3000+1500=4500

"Great Scott! His dragon is as strong as its ultimate form now." Bastion exclaimed with wide eyes. Jade looked at the legendary dragon in awe while Syrus ducked in fear.

"I hope you're ready, Crowler. Blue-Eyes! Attack his Gadjitron Dragon with White Lightning!" Naruto ordered. The legendary white dragon reared its head back before a beam of destructive energy fired from its maw right at the Ancient Gear Gadjitron Dragon. Crowler had no moves to make and no traps to set off. All he could do was watch in horror as his second beloved ace monster was destroyed for a second time in one day. The beam tore through Crowler's monster and the rest of his life points.

Crowler LP: 3000-3000=0

"That's game teach," Naruto said as his dragon let off one more roar. "And awesome job as always partner..." The dragon gave Naruto one last look before fading away.

"Twice! How can I lose twice in one day!" Crowler screeched. Naruto almost laughed. But defeating Crowler was to set a message.

He was Naruto Uzumaki, The Next King of Games.

"Mr. Kaiba, I have urgent news, sir." Seto Kaiba looked up from his paperwork to see his loyal assistant Roland. The man had a sheet of paper that he quickly handed to Kaiba.

"Thank you, Roland." His eyes gazed at the paper, and a small smirk crossed his face. "So he crushed Crowler... Keep me updated, Roland."

"Yes, sir," Roland replied with a bow. Kaiba crossed his fingers and hummed deep in thought.

"Prove to me, Uzumaki. Prove to me that you deserve the final Blue Eyes!" Kaiba fiercely thought.

And guess who's back! With the first of a new wave of new stories. I love Yugioh. It's one of those childhood anime that I love to rewatch. And if you hadn't noticed, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon is my favorite monster. He's to Yugioh what Charizard is to Pokemon. A fucking classic.

This fic was inspired by numerous different stories out there. Particularly the fic The New Master of the Dragons by VolticWind and the collective Naruto/Yu-Gi-Oh archive by windstorm16. Seriously, I love that guy's stories.

As always, this is a Naruto/Harem fic and I can confirm the first two members are Jade(Genderbent Jaden) and Alexis.

Expect to see familiar characters from all over the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise and as always I own none of this. Not a goddamn thing.

This work is dedicated to Kazuo Takahashi, a wonderful creator who inspired so many people.
