The birds were chirping, their melodious voices drifting in the winds and reached the sleeping Uchiha's ears. He stirred in his sleep and opened his eyes as he layed on his back, his eyes fixated on the ceiling.
Memories from last night flooded in his mind, Hinata's words were still echoing in his mind and a smile tugged at his lips when he remembered that moment when Hinata had said those words to him. He felt so contend in that moment and when he had locked his eyes with her pale lavender eyes, he saw his world in them. He felt like he had everything in this world right there with him.
Because Hinata was there, she was his world.
He took a deep breath and again closed his eyes to sleep but his ears perked up at the faint noises which were coming from the living room. His brows furrowed at that. He immediately stood up and grabbed his katana which was by the door. He opened the door, his sword in hand but hidden from the sight.
As soon as he stepped out of the room, a strong aroma filled his nosetrils and he froze in his tracks, his grip loosening on the sword.
There she was, moving gracefully in his kitchen as she went to the sink, rinsing the vegetables then moving back to the stove to stir whaterver was in that pot.
Hinata stopped stirring and turned to face Sasuke when she heard him shuffle behind her. He was looking at her without blinking as if he was frozen by something. Hinata eyed him carefully, he was still in his night cloths, his dark hair all messed up and his katana in his hand. She stepped out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on her apron.
She tilted her head to the side in confusion and said, "Good Morning..."
At that, Sasuke blinked and stood straight as his body relaxed. He cleared his throat as he tried to hide his katana behind his back.
"What are you doing here?"
Hinata blinked at his question but then said, "I woke up early today... So I thought of making you breakfast."
Hinata smiled at him but deep inside, she felt nervous. She really woke up early in the morning because she couldn't sleep. Memories from last night kept coming back in her mind, making it difficult for her to sleep.
After the whole encounter last night, when Sasuke had decided not to leave, he and Hinata had walked back to the Hyuga compound and then they had parted ways. He wasn't expecting Hinata to show up this morning, but now he was glad Hinata was here.
His tone was neither rude nor cold but it made Hinata think that she might've overstepped some boundaries. So she grew flustered and nervous as she said.
"I-If that's o-okay for you, I mean... I-I am s-sorry if I... I-I woke you up," she kept ranting, she herself didn't know what she was saying, she could feel her cheeks burn, no doubt her face must be looking like a tomato.
She continued, "I j-just wanted to m-make you something. I-I am sorry... I just w-wanted to see you... So I c-came..."
She stopped and gasped as she realized what she had just said. Her face went red and took even a deeper shade of red. She bit her lip and looked down and squeezed her eyes shut in order to control her blushing. She then heard Sasuke chuckle and his approaching footsteps.
She looked up at him, he was now an arm's distance away from her but he covered that distance as well. He came close to her and smiled at her as he gently lifted her chin with his fingers.
They both looked into each other's eyes and Sasuke said, "I am happy you are here."
Hinata smiled at that but her cheeks were still red. Sasuke smirked and leaned closer as if to kiss her, Hinata closed her eyes in anticipation but he brought his lips to her ear and whispered, "The soup is burning."
Hinata stepped back as she breathed out, "What...?"
She saw his smirk grew then she realized what he said.
"What!?" Her eyes widened in surprise.
She whirled around and ran into the kitchen and quickly turned off the stove. She groaned when she saw that the whole soup was burned and how it stuck to the sides and the bottom of the pot. She crunched her nose in disgust at the smell.
How did it slip from her mind? She couldn't even smell the burning soup. Well how could she when her mind was completely filled with his thoughts and about how close they were, when her nose could smell nothing but only his scent.
Her face now went red with embarassment and she felt an urge to face palm herself. She thought he was going to kiss her!
She inwardly groaned and started to get rid of the mess she created. As she did it, she didn't turn in Sasuke's direction who was now sitting on the chair of the food table, facing the kitchen. He looked at her with amusment and let out a light laugh.
Hinata pouted and again felt her cheeks getting red in embarassment. It was the first time she was cooking something for him and she ruined it. She didn't know what will he think about her. She bit on her bottom lip and took a deep breath to calm her nerves. Then after some time, she presented her dishes in front of him, ofcourse except the burned soup.
She sat opposite to him and smiled nervously as she said, "I didn't know what you'd like for breakfast so I made it to my liking. I also wanted to make tomato soup for you but you know what happened to it."
She gave him an apologetic look but then said, "I hope you like it."
Sasuke looked at Hinata's nervous state then gazed at the meal which consisted of steamed rice, miso soup and grilled fish. And for side dishes, it included nori, natto, tsukemono and some green salad.
He smiled as he saw that all dishes were to his liking. Even if they weren't then he still would gladly eat everything and anything she made for him. He took his chopsticks and grabbed the bowl of rice and took a bite. His eyes widened as he tasted the rice on his tongue.
It reminded him of his home. His family... His mother. For a moment he forgot to chew, he just kept that few grains of rice on his tongue.
Hinata looked at his expression as he froze. He stopped chewing and didnt even swallow. She thought it didn't tasted right. Maybe she had added alot of salt or maybe she forgot to add any.
"Sasuke-kun?" she said nervously and Sasuke blinked. He looked at her and finally swallowed. But it looked like it took a lot of effort to do it.
"I-If you don't like it, you can just tell me. I can make something else."
Sasuke shook his head and said in a soft tone as he smiled at her, "No. I very much like it."
"Really?" Her tone was full of surprise but there was also relief in her tone.
"Yes. It just reminded me of..." He trailed off and didn't complete his sentence. He just shrugged and flashed her a smile before he continued to eat.
Hinata knew what he wanted to say, it reminded him of his home. His family. Although, Hinata didn't knew much about his family but she knew that look on his face. It was like a memory flashed infront of him just now. She knew what he was going to say but he didn't say it.
It made Hinata a little disappointed that he didn't share that piece of him but she quickly shook that feeling off. Althought she was feeling like that but it made her extremely happy that her cooking reminded him of his family.
She could still see his smile and his eyes which held such happiness and contentment when he took the bite from the fish and then the green salad. He looked like he had been looking for something and he finally found it after a very long time.
Hinata smiled at him and her heart swelled when she looked at his smile. She felt at so much ease whenever she was around him. She wanted to be his light and she wanted him to be her path to that light. He made her feel like she was someone who wasn't a burden, like she was someone who held alot of value in his life. She could tell that by the way he looked at her, as his eyes held so much admiration and adoration for her. And so much love.
Hinata snapped back out of her thoughts when his voice filled the space around them.
"Why are you not eating?"
Hinata blinked at him and and then cleared her throat. "I have to get back to the compound. My father doesn't like it if any of the family members are missing for breakfast."
Sasuke raised an eyebrow at her and said, "So you are leaving...?" He didn't mean it to sound like a question but it sounded like one. He didn't want her to leave so soon.
She smiled at him but he could see the apologetic look in her eyes as she nodded. He looked at her for a moment with that blank expression again which made her a little uncomfortable. But he then nodded and gave her a forced smile before going back to eating again.
Hinata noticed it but didn't say anything about it. She then stood up and said, "I'll see you later, Sasuke-kun."
And with that, she stood up to leave but halted when Sasuke placed his hand over hers and also stood up. Hinata stood still and watched his every move as he came closer to her.
He now stood infront of her and she looked at him, her heartbeat getting fast by every passing second. Her heart nearly gave in when he smiled at her and leaned closer.
Her eyes fluttered close as their lips touched. Sasuke cupped her cheeks and deepened the kiss and kissed her hard as if she was going on a long journey and he will not see her for a long time.
When Hinata was just about to kiss him back, he broke the kiss and pulled back. He looked in her eyes and said in his husky voice which sent shivers down her spine.
"Come back soon."
Hinata looked down as her face flushed and nodded her head shyly. Sasuke again smiled at her and let out a chuckle at her cuteness.
Then Hinata took a shaky breathe and said fast and quickly, "I'll be going on now! Bye!"
With that, she quickly went for the door and left. He shook his head and a smile tugged on his lips. He then went back to the table and took a seat. He resumed his eating but soon after he didn't feel like eating anymore, his mind compeletly filled with Hinata. Her smile, her eyes, her flushed face, her soft voice and her long silky hair.
Sasuke stopped eating and set down his chopsticks. He sighed as he leaned back in his chair and stared at the ceiling.
He didn't want her to leave so soon, he wanted her to spend more time with her and to hug her and hold her close to him. Although he kissed her but he wanted more time with her.
He groaned at his own cheesy thoughts as he rubbed his face with his hands.
What have you done to me, Hinata Hyuga?
He thought as he sighed again but couldn't help the smile that creeped onto his lips when he thought of her.
Although he wanted to keep her here with him but he knew that she had her own life apart from him. She belonged to a prestigious clan and she was none other than the daughter of the head of the clan. So she was obligated to attend these daily meals.
He understood it completely. He also was once a part of the most prestigious and powerful clan of Konoha. So he knew these trivial matters. He did understand it all but still he wanted her here with him.
At the Hyuga compound, Hinata opened the door and found her father and sister sitting at the breakfast table. She greeted her father and sister.
"Good morning, nee-chan." Hanabi said, just like how she always greeted her in mornings. But her father didn't looked at her and took a sip from his tea. When Hinata took a seat beside her fathers left, her father spoke, finally acknowledging her.
"You are late," he simply said but Hinata knew that he wasn't happy about it, so she bowed her head slightly in apology.
"I apologise, Father."
Hiashi said nothing and continued eating while Hinata and Hanabi discussed about Hanabi's mission which she was going on today with her team.
When Hiashi finished his breakfast, he stood up to leave and made his way to the door. But before leaving, he looked over his shoulder and said to Hinata.
"Meet me in my office after you finish."
Hinata was confused and curious as to why her father wanted to see her but she nodded nonetheless. After she finished her breakfast, she went to her father's office. The guard infront of the door bowed to her as he opened it for her and she stepped in.
Her father was standing by the bookshelf and was looking at some scroll. When he noticed Hinata, he folded the scroll and placed it back on the shelf. He then turned to Hinata and gave her a stern look.
"Follow me," he said in an authoritive tone as he brushed past her and exited the room. Hinata, confused and curious, followed her father quietly.
When they came out to the outer corridors of the main house, clan members started to fill in and gathered around in the courtyard. They all held curiosity on their faces as they too didn't know what was going on. All their eyes trailed her and her father as they made their way to the middle of the courtyard.
Her father halted and looked over at Hinata as she too came to a halt. She looked around to see that almost every member of the clan was present there. Hinata's brows furrowed in confusion and concern.
Something was wrong, she could sense it in the air between her and her father. She wanted to ask him what was going on but refrained herself from saying anything.
She looked at Hiashi who was jsut standing there as if waiting for someone but who? Soon enough, her question was answered when her grandfather and other clan elders came and stood in front of the crowd.
Hiashi then turned to Hinata and gave her a threatening glare. Hinata couldn't figure out what was all this about, she was utterly confused here. Then she suddenly realized that this was the exact place Hinata had lost to her sister years ago. This was the place where she was branded as a weak and pathetic heiress.
A chill went down her spine when she looked at her father who was now taking his fighting stance. He looked straight in her eyes and said-- ordered,
"Fight me!"
And with that, he lunged at her as if he was going straight for the kill. And Hinata just stood there, her eyes wide in horror and her whole body frozen in shock as her father's palm hit the left side of her chest, where her heart was beating inside of her chest.
