It was a very tense day at Hexside as everyone was on edge. Evelyn, Mildred and Hecate were walking down the corridor analysing the tense situations on everyone's faces.
They saw Jakob Krej looking terrified for his life while Neil placed his hand on his shoulder, doing everything he can to comfort his brother, in his own Neil way.
Clarence was busy drinking some apple blood to calm his nerves but the trauma was too much to bear that he tried to another carton of apple blood with the same results.
They walked past a student whom looked to itching with nerves going crazy for them. Another student was listening to some music to drown out the thoughts going on in their head.
Hecate looked to the others with worry. "How are you two feeling?" She asked.
Evelyn sighed. "I still can't sleep without thinking about what happened that day."
"I can." Mildred stated.
Evelyn narrowed her eyes at her friend before turning back to Hecate. "Every night before I sleep, I think back to those last seven seconds where me and Rentley were about to become a couple, Mildred looking bored, Neil tackling Mildred out of the way, Azura coming towards our direction…." Evelyn pressed her hands against her face. "…Titan, I wish I knew what to do."
"I could have stopped it!" Hecate exclaimed, causing Evelyn to look at her. "I could have stopped it! Why did I need to go to the bathroom! If I had just taken off my ear buds!"
"Although, that explosion was awfully close to us." Mildred remarked. "Seems kind of convenient you didn't hear it. Did you climb out the window?"
"There is no window in the girl's bathroom." Evelyn said. "How would she climb out?"
"Good point." Mildred said.
"But still, I haven't seen an attack affect anyone this badly." Hecate said. "I heard Puddles refuses to leave her pent."
Outside, Viney was struggling to get her pet griffin out of her pent. "Come on Puddles, we got a lesson to do."
However, the griffin wasn't barging out, causing Viney to sigh with empathy. "Okay, I understand girl."
Back in the corridor, the friends were still discussing. "I heard Mr Bateman couldn't come in today so he had an illusion take his place."
"No he did not." Mr Bateman walked past the trio. "My illusion got so scared that he refuses to cover me. I mean, that is just impossible yet fascinating."
"And I heard Steve Jr got so traumatised that his legs started to work again." Hecate said.
Steve Jr walked past the trio. "I mean, trauma sucks but at least I'm walking again. Steve Jr is having some conflicting about this."
As they continued to walk, Evelyn began to think about Rentley and everything that had happened. It was clear that he wanted to ask her out and the explosion caused by that Province member disguised as a window cleaner. He got hurt and had to have his leg amputated.
She wanted to visit him, but she had a feeling his mother wouldn't let her see him. She even tried to contact him, however, his scroll was destroyed in the explosion.
She felt guilty for not doing her best to save his life even though she did make an attempt to shield him from the explosion that took his leg.
Then, in front of her she could see Jakob Widebent tormenting Jakob Krej by lifting his book up high in the air to try and get him to grab them.
"Come on, tiny!" Jakob W chided to the little Jakob who struggled to grab his books.
"Come on Widebent, this isn't fair!" He cried.
"I know!" Jakob laughed. "Isn't this fun, Floz?!"
"Sure thing!" Floz exclaimed.
All of a sudden, a vine whipped him in the rear, causing the bully to drop the books that fell on Krej. The young boy stood up and cheered.
"Yay! My books!" He happily skipped away with his books in hand.
Jakob stood up on his feet and narrowed his eyes at the person who cast the spell. The bully looked slightly surprised that Evelyn of all people had cast a spell and she looked confident doing it.
"I don't believe this!" Jakob exclaimed. "Half-A-Witch Evelyn? Using magic with confidence?" Jakob laughed. "Well, you're gonna-" All of a sudden, Evelyn gave the Province member a wedgie, causing him to scream.
Evelyn narrowed her eyes at him. "That's for Rentley."
Jakob stood up and adjusted his pants while gritting his teeth in anger. "You're gonna regret that."
"We have no regrets harassing a member of The Province." Hecate replied.
"What are you talking about?" Jakob asked condescendingly.
"Quit talking like you don't know what you're talking about, we know that you and Floz are members of your exclusive terrorist club!" Hecate exclaimed.
"What exclusive terrorist club?!" Floz exclaimed. "Who said it was exclusive?!"
Jakob exhaled. "Is this your poor attempt to get rid of me, Park? Cheese and crackers, do a bit better. What proof do you have that I am a part of that dreadful terrorist organisation? I know for a fact that I am not a member and neither is Floz so your accusations mean diddly squat." He and his friend just strutted away obnoxiously while Evelyn narrowed her eyes at him.
"Wait, a lot of people reported it, why haven't they kicked him out?" Hecate asked.
"Oh, apparently I don't see enough evidence to kick him out." Principal Terrace explained. "Even though it is obvious."
"You know?!" Hecate exclaimed.
"I just don't have the substantial evidence to kick him out." Principal Terrace said. "If I kick him out without any then I will have to answer to his parents, then the superintendent, then the governors and then my career gets screwed and I will have to go back to living with my Dad's as a failure!" Terrace realised that the students were staring at her in complete shock by what she had just said. Terrace adjusted her glasses. "Unless you know of a way to prove that he is a member of The Province then he is going to continue mischief."
In that moment, Evelyn had an idea. An idea she knew she was determined to do. But wouldn't that also get her into trouble? Well, she's going to take some risks to get Widebent out of Hexside no matter what.
