A/N: Hi and welcome to my first fanfiction writing. I'd like to say that English is not my native language so sorry if there will be errors in grammars. Anyways I'd hope you'll enjoy the story.

"Haah… another boring day at school. I didn't even get to doze off." A girl in a school uniform mutters to herself as she walks home from school.

"Once am home its nap time for me! Can't wait to visit them again! Hehe~ For I Sumireko Usami as the first president of the Secret Sealing Club it is my duty to explore such mysteries!" She uttered to herself while making poses that briefly catches the attention of some of the passerby's attention.

To which she quickly noticed and remarked "Right, I do forget sometimes about the people and those reactions, it annoys me a bit but I'm used to it, I guess I should stop by to a convenience store to cool off." The girl called Usami Sumireko grumbled and continued to walk.

Meanwhile…

A girl in an unusual clothes is walking through the street seemingly confused and worried. She has a silver-white hair with a single ahoge (antenna) on the center and wears a black headband with black half wings in the shape of a butterfly sitting on the left side of the headband.

Her nose was well cut, cute and wavy her body was slender and curvaceous with right sizes in the right places and if she smiles it would be of that an innocent girl. She is very beautiful, her eyes are colored differently the right eye is colored crimson red and the left side green, she is wearing green clothing, a light brown colored to each of her shoulder which both has a black metal plate and at her side is a pair of sheathed katana with a design that looks like a flower.

Her chest has untied black ribbon that is used to tie the cloth and the first 2 buttons are undone revealing a small part of her beautiful skin. She wears a green skirt which covers her legs and each side of her hips lies a metal plate --much like the metal armor attached to both of her shoulders-- resembling a piece of black armor also there are 4 crimson strings of fabric cloth at each side that resembles a ribbon that located on top of the metal which adds a girlish design on it and finally she is wearing a black armored boots.

The people who saw her wondered why she is dressed up like that but in the end their thinking always ends up that she must be a cosplayer and didn't mind her.

The girl was muttering to herself as she walks.

"Great…if I'm correct am in a modern city…Am used to seeing castles and villages that I almost forgot about it." She muttered to herself and continued "Where the heck am I?! Last time I know, I am sleeping and the second when I opened my eyes this happened?! I already confirmed if it is a dream by pinching myself, that hurt actually so no it is not though I'd like to try cutting myself for further proof… but I don't think the people here would like to see that." She said as she looked around.

"Pretty sure my clothing is not appropriate here but I can't just go to a store and buy one now would I?" She said while looking at her pocket change which was of course empty. "Figures… not like I have to change my clothes anyway…"

Then she stopped walking as she realized something. "Come to think of it… I've been walking straight for a while now. Where the heck am I going anyway? I need to plan before moving. Tch… reminds me of that one time but this one is more friendly in terms of environment." She mumbled and looked at her surroundings once again.

As she examines her surroundings she quickly noticed the convenience store just a few walks from where she is.

"Is that what I think it is? I can get useful information there though I'd like to buy something that would be out of my options for now."

Finally she noticed her own action of speaking her thoughts aloud and remarked.

'Riiight… I always forget to always stop talking my thoughts out, force of habit I guess, that's probably why people are giving those looks earlier, ugh! How embarrassing!'

And so she will head straight to the convenience store for information gathering.

Inside the convenience store

Usami Sumireko is busy contemplating what things should she buy. "Hmm… what should I buy? Normally I'd buy the same thing but today's been so bland so I figured that I should change what I'll pick today, haah… I wish something interesting happens today." Sumireko sighed as she picks up the food she wanted.

As she lazily heads for the counter, the door opens and what she saw actually made her stop and silently stare at the silver-white haired girl who just entered the convenience store.

Apparently it was not just Sumireko who stared at her in fact it was all the people at the store their reaction is that of a curious and bewildered though all of them just stared for a few moments and then carried on as if they saw nothing. The silver-white haired also paid no heed to what just happened and proceeds to browse mainly the books and articles section.

As for Sumireko who was still in shock though in her mind she is probably thinking something and that is…

'What the?…is that…Youmu? What is she doing here?! I remember her judging with me during that danmaku festival…ah I still remember that clearly…no wait! Why am I reminiscing at the past right now?! I have to talk to her about what is she doing here.' as she said that she moved towards where the silver-white hair girl is but another person came in the store which made her stop as this one is no ordinary customer as it is a man armed with a gun, a handgun to be precise.

Her eyes widen from what she saw and quickly darted to the side where she can hide from the said armed man. Just as she moved from to hide the armed man wasted no time and quickly yelled "THIS IS A ROBBERY! DO NOT MOVE AND I WON'T HARM ANYONE!" judging from his tone he seems to be desperate and serious.

Watching from the side Sumireko is somehow stupefied by her own words earlier about making today interesting.

'I think that interesting event is already happening, me and my luck I guess. I can take that guy out if only-' her thoughts trail out when she saw the silver-white haired girl approach the armed man.

"HURRY UP AND HAND ME THAT CASH!" the armed man exclaimed to the cashier who was trembling with fear.

They were interrupted when the girl called out to him.

"Oi you, can you not shout? It's very irritating."

"?! HUH?" The armed man quickly turned around and saw the silver-white haired girl and quickly pointed his gun at her.

"WHAT THE? HEY COSPLAYER BE QUIET! I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO PULL HERE BUT I WON'T HESITATE TO SHOOT IF NEEDED!" The armed man exclaimed still shouting even if the person he is talking to is right in front of him.

Despite the warning the silver-white haired girl seemed to be unfazed and was actually annoyed by the guy and in an instant she used her sheathed sword to attack the armed guy which was so quick that even the guy himself was not able to see hence he can't react in time this also caused him to drop his gun.

He stumbled back after getting hit in the face and before he could recover all he could see again is the hilt of the sword coming straightforward to his face and by that the girl unsheathed her sword by lunging it forward to his face. Such technique witnessed by several people awed them and even Sumireko had her jaw drop with such display. The armed guy is dazed and the girl catches her sword midair while delivering a powerful kick to his head and that was her black armored boots that hit him which will certainly knock the guy out.

The silver-white haired girl landed smoothly and sheathed her sword while remarking "Told you not to shout especially not right in my face."

After that claps and cheers for her is heard much to her surprise. The people were grateful to her and with that an incident is prevented and soon the police will arrive and take care of the man but before they do she had to leave for who knows what else could happen if she stays? Well she did get rewarded as the store offered her free food and anything she likes in the store which of course she didn't refuse.

Walking out of the store with free food and a timely magazine in hand, one could say she got what she needed with a bonus. Of course Sumireko on the other hand decided to follow her.

'That's so cool! She knocked the guy out with ease! But the way she dresses and when I really look at her, she's pretty tall…is she really Youmu? I'll find out when I get the chance! Which is why I'm going to follow her.'

After a few walks away

Sumireko still following the mysterious girl suddenly came to stop as when she catches up to the girl, she simply vanish like a bubble when she turned right.

'Huh? Where did she go? Don't tell me she's also a ninja too? She must have returned to Gensokyo after running an errand? It's what I think but that is if she is Youmu…argh! This is so complicated maybe I'll just ask directly when I visit.'

Then another thought hit her. 'Wait a minute…this direction is the way to my apartment. Hmm…' Just as she was in deep thought a person called out to her which startles her.

"Oi you, why are you following me?" the familiar voice said.

Sumireko was in deep thought that this surprised her so much which caused her to shout.

"AHHH! Please don't kill me!" Sumireko exclaimed with her eyes closed.

The girl quickly looked around and said. "Hey cut that out will you?! I'm the one whose gonna get in trouble if you don't calm down."

Sumireko opened her eyes and saw the girl she was supposed to be following, the silver-white haired girl looking at her with of course an annoyed face.

"Honestly, you're the one following me and that's your reaction?" The girl asked as well as giving a short sigh after that.

"Ri-right, sorry you just startled back there…So-" Sumireko asked nervously.

"So? Spit it out already it's not like I'll cut you to pieces, you know?"

Just the thought of that made Sumireko shiver but regardless she asked her.

"Um… Mind if I ask if you're Youmu? If not can you tell me who you are?" she humbly asks the girl to which the girl strokes her chin gently and answered.

"Youmu? Never heard of her but to answer your question my name is Rain Nanase, Rain means Ame in Japanase in case you're wondering. Feel free to call me Ame but I'd prefer Rain." The silver-white haired girl named Rain answered.

Sumireko having recovered from being startled finally stood up straight and much to her surprise that Rain is much taller than her and upon closer look this girl just looks like Youmu but thats it. Youmu has her other half or her half-phantom and her height is fairly short not to mention the way she speaks is very much different so the answer to her question is answered.

"Ms. Rain, it's nice to meet you! My name is Usami Sumireko my parents call me Umi-chan if you like you can call me that too." Sumireko cheerfully replied.

"Rain is fine to me, no need for formalities Umi." Rain replied which made Sumireko happy.

While this individual was following her. Rain herself would very much like to know what this girl knows apparently any information is good in this situation.

"Still talking here is rather uncomfortable, do you perhaps know some place we can talk? Like your base-" Rain cough a few times after this and then continued. "Ahem, sorry about that, like I was saying a place we can talk like a café or anything else you had in mind?"

Sumireko thinks about what Rain had just said and then she answered "Yep, My apartment is the best place I can think of plus it is just a few walks away already."

"Eh? Are you sure? You're like inviting a total stranger to your apartment." Rain remarks.

"Right but I trust you already after all you did helped back there in the store! Besides We're already friends right Rain-cchi?" Sumireko then looks at Rain's eyes which is looking forward to her answer.

"Hmph, making me your close friend already, you're one oddball for sure." Rain answered.

"Takes one to know one, eh?" She happily replied.

"Why you… Aha…ahaha! Heh! I'll let that slip since I like your guts, so lead the way then… Umi-chan." Rain lets out a few laugh joined in by Sumireko as the two walk and exchanges jokes like they have been friends for quite a long time.

It didn't take that long before they reached Sumireko's apartment. Once inside Rain scanned the area and remarked.

"Hmm, I'd give it a 8/10." Rain rates her apartment which made Sumireko comply.

"Fair enough, Ohh, I almost forgot to give you the official greeting!" She clears her throat first and then continued, "Welcome! To the primary base of the Secret Sealing Club! Please make yourself at home! Meeting will begin shortly!" She cheerfully said.

"Er...why does that sound like I'm already a part of the club?" Rain asked.

"Well you're not yet an official member but an honorary one!" Sumireko chirps.

"Gee...thanks" Rain said with sarcasm.

"So what would you like to drink while we're having the meeting?" Sumireko asked the swordsmaster.

"Tea please, thank you very much." Rain politely said.

While this is a different attitude when they first met, Sumireko didn't mind in fact it makes her happy that the swordsman has such a personality.

"Right! Good thing I have them in stock! I do get visitors that likes them." Sumireko said as she thought of those individuals.

After a few minutes of preparing the tea. They've began the said meeting.

"So Rain-cchi what brings you here in the outside world? I haven't seen you in Gensokyo?" Sumireko asked.

The swordsman in question sips her tea and after that she calmly replied. "Gensokyo? No I don't think I've been there... It's my first time hearing it." She replied and with that she shoots a question back.

"You called this place the outside world... does this Gensokyo you speak of truly exist? Normally people will think you're crazy for saying such things but for me who suddenly finds herself here will think otherwise." Rain said as she takes another sip of her tea and also commented "Mm... This tea is not bad."

"Yes, it does exist but you saying that you didn't came from Gensokyo kind of puts me in position on what the answer could be but what do you remember before coming here? That would help a lot." Sumireko asks.

"Ah right, so here is what I remember..." She stopped midway of her sentence and then fell silent, after that she looks at Sumireko and said, "wait...I...I...can't remember? What?" Rain herself is confused by this.

"Darn, why can't I remember?! I know my name and that I'm a swordsmaster but other than that I...remember nothing? I still have my memories earlier but the rest is gone like a bubble!" Rain still pertubed on this new situation.

After some time she gave up remembering and said.

"I...I'm sorry Umi-chan... I don't know what happened but it seems my past or my memory is gone? I really can't explain it but seems like coming here has an effect on me and I am not lying this here is really bad, like what if I have a family or worse someone waiting for me to return? I don't like thinking about that but it could be true." Rain said all this but doesn't seem to be in panic which made the confused Sumireko ask.

"Hmm...now this is something...I don't see that you're lying but how come you're calm about this?"

The silver-haired swordsman crossed her arms and replied.

"I could say it must be an experience or sorts while most parts of my memory is missing, there would be parts that don't get actually removed or forgotten and this is that part I'm talking about. I may have experienced other situations that requires me not to panic or I may have trained myself for such a thing. Kind of that saying that the mind may forget but the body does not." Rain said as she takes a last sip of her tea and commented again "Or maybe this tea helped me calm down? Heh~" She jokingly said.

"I see, do not fret my new friend for I have a plan! And nope we ain't relying on the outside world's help!" Sumireko said with a smirk on her face.

"I know good people who can help you! Let me just see if I still have that item she lent to me." Sumireko excitedly said as she goes to look for the said item.

"By that I guess she means this Gensokyo place and those people she keeps talking about must be from there." She quietly muttered and looks around.

"All I remember was me opening my eyes and I'm already in a bustling city. Umi said earlier that this is Kyoto and where we are right now is the Kanto region. Somehow the name feels familiar but I can't put my finger on it, thinking back always leads to nothing but a headache." She uttered as she sighs on the current situation.

After a while Sumireko came back with an item in her hand it seems to be a mini-statue of sorts that resembles an animal that has a tiny leaf on top of it.

"Er...Umi-chan what is that?" Rain could not help but ask.

"This here my friend is a bake-danuki statue. Not only does it provide a charm for good fortune it also functions as a way to call a friend." Sumireko cheerfully explains and then presses the tiny leaf on the mini-statue's head which causes it to make a poof noise.

"Alright! All we need to do now is wait. Pretty simple right?"

"I'm guessing this friend of yours is a bake-danuki, huh?" Rain deduces.

"A-huh! She's pretty nice and reliable! She be able to help you out!" She cheerfully said.

"If you say so, thanks again for helping me. Oh, and can I have seconds?" Rain said as she raises her cup of tea.

"Sure, and while we wait I can tell you some of my adventures in Gensokyo!" Sumireko's eyes gleamed as she said this.

The two happily converse and just after an hour. Sumireko's doorbell rang and the two exactly knew what is about to come next.

"I guess that's her then." Sumireko said as she gets up from the table.

As Sumireko gets the door, Rain is left to ponder about the stories she heard from her.

'This Gensokyo she talks about really sounds like a magical place, where yokai and magic exist. I have no idea what the heck is Danmaku though. I'd like to ask her about it but she seems into it to be interrupted earlier. Oh well, I could ask some other time.'

As soon as she finishes her thought Sumireko returns with another individual.

The said individual has brown eyes wearing a glasses and her hair is light-brown that reaches shoulder length with a notable leaf-shaped hair pin. Her clothes are what modern people wear which opposed the one Rain is wearing.

Seems like they are already holding a conversation before they went in.

"Well, this is the first time you've actually pressed the statue. So what do we have here?" The light brown woman's eyes focuses on Rain and squinted as she examines Rain.

Rain takes a sip from her tea and said.

"I'd take it you are the help Umi-chan mentioned?" Rain asks.

"Oho, I can already tell she's a feisty one eh? I like her." She said as she looks at Sumireko with a grin.

"Told you, you'd like her. Oh right, Rain-cchi meet Ms. Mamizou Futatsuiwa." she said as she gestured to the introduced guest.

"Yes, that is me feel free to call me Mamizou. I'd let you know that I came from Sado but a certain incident led me to Gensokyo." The individual known as Mamizou said while adjusting her glasses.

"Right," Rain takes a sip from her tea and continued, "My name's Rain Nanase, you may call me Ame but I'd prefer Rain. Thank you again for coming to help me." She slightly lowered her head as a sign of respect.

"Ahaha, interesting indeed." Mamizou said as something on her head twitch and by that it is actually her ears which she shrunk. As a bake-danuki she has the powers to disguise herself and even other things.

Rain noticed the twitching ears and remarks. "You're a bake-danuki alright, the twitching little ears on your head proves it."

The grin on the bake-danuki's face seems to widen when she said that.

"Oh my, I guess there is no need for me to test you then because you already passed," The bake-danuki said with a smile before continuing, "you're quite powerful for a human, indeed you maybe even stronger than her, no offense my dear." She said as she squints.

Though this maybe that's just how she talks but she does sound like an elderly that's what is on Rain's mind, she very much like to ask why is that but she felt it would be rude to do so. Besides what she have to worry about is how Mamizou managed to size her up by just looking at her. It maybe just an intuition but still she has to be careful around this yokai that's what her instincts say.

"None taken! You should've seen how she fights! She took down a bad guy in style! It's like straight out of an anime!" The president of the club excited exclaimed.

The last part of her sentence made Mamizou tilt her head and as for Rain she is trying to remember what that is and felt it was familiar but failed which made her frown for a bit.

"Is that so? Well why don't we sit down and have tea while we hear your story, Rain?" She said as she casually sits down on the chair facing the direction of the amnesiac swordsman.

"Sure, but this is my last tea although this is good I'd like to think that having that many is not good for my health."

"Ohoho, you have a good taste! That tea is actually what I'd recommended to her." Mamizou said as she pours her own tea in her cup and sips it.

Sumireko nods as she sits next to Rain.

After that Rain recounts the events that transpired from how she awoke in the city and then the incident at the convenience store to meeting Sumireko and thus leading back here at the apartment where she seemed to have lost he memory and finally calling in Mamizou.

"I see, this is very interesting, it seems like we need to regain your memories if we want to know why are you here and where did you actually came from." Mamizou said.

"That is pretty much the only route we could go." Rain said as she sips the last of her tea.

"Very well, I'd help you get the help you need. But you know it won't be free and no guarantees that you actually get the help from them, it's up to you." She smiled as she said this.

Basically what Mamizou the bake-danuki yokai is implying is she will take Rain to the people who can help her, kind of like her ticket to a plane as an example.

"Figures, I take it that you don't need money as payment?" She said with her eye brows raised.

"Seems like you're reasonable person, the price is not that heavy you just owe me a favor and that's a discount since you are my friend's pal." She slyly grinned.

Rain didn't take that lightly as favors work entirely in a different way, still she had to take this only chance offered to her hence her answer is-

"It's a deal, so when do we start?" Rain quickly agreed to Mamizou's demand.

"Already? My you're quite the adventurous, I see. As you have guessed we need to go to Gensokyo as your would be helpers live there. But-" She raises a finger and continued.

"Due to your recent involvement in that incident back at the convenience store. Rumors say people are on the look for you, at least that's what I heard before coming here." She looks at Rain straight in the eye. Somehow her glasses flashed as she said that.

"Right, that would pose problems to her as people would recognize her. Though there are some videos that are already out, wow there is even a meme variant, looks like you're going viral." Sumireko said as she shows them the different recorded videos from the store.

While Rain wanted to ask more about what she is seeing. She felt like it is not that important hence the thought about asking about it dispersed.

Looking at the situation it looks like Rain would really have to rely on Mamizou to get her there.

"Then I'll need a disguise then, and looking at it I suppose your ability will really help me out." The swordsman said as she gave a short laugh.

"I suppose it's better than having you change into a different clothing." The yokai responded her.

"Huuuh~ Rain-cchi I wish I could come with you but I forgot that I have tons of homework to do! But summer is already nearing the corner and I'll be sure to check you up once I'm done!"

Rain had also learned that Sumireko can travel to Gensokyo by sleeping and dreaming though she seems to be a special case.

"Right, thanks. I'll be sure to visit again once this is all over. I'd bring in some tea too." Rain smiled as she gets up from chair she is sitting in.

"Woohoo! And then we can finally have more fun! Looking forward to it!" She gave a thumbs up with a mischievious smile.

Seeing on how the two interact the yokai with them cannot help but tease them.

"Is this why you guys became friends in an instant? Let me guess an oddball like you Usami-chan?"

"Hey!" Both Rain and Sumireko said in Unison.

This earns a cheerful laugh from the teaser which of course followed by the two of them.

Certainly the apartment where Sumireko lives in has indeed became lively even if it is just for a short time.

This will be the start of the journey of Rain Nanase as she makes her way to Gensokyo. What awaits her there? Will she be able to regain back her lost memories or create a new one?

But that proved to be difficult as it always involves throwing in the Hag's gaps. So I decided to have our newcomer interact to those who knew how to get in via their own ways.
