Scarlet Devil Mansion
"Hmm... So you're saying you met an outsider Patchy? The way you described her, she seems interesting."
The one who said this is a girl with a height of a early teen. She wears a light-pink dress with a red ribbon on both sleeves. She has red eyes and short light-blue hair with a light-pinkmob cap with a red ribbon decorated with white stripes. She also has a pair of large black bat-like wings on her back with a wingspan wider than her height. It is clear that she is not human but rather a vampire based on her characteristics.
"Well it's better that I tell you, Remi, knowing you always seek novel things." Patchouli said as she looks at the said vampire who picks up her red tea and takes a sip.
"Ah, you know me so well Patchy. I could hardly wait to meet her perhaps I should ask Sakuya to escort her?" She said as she contemplates her other options.
"I already invited her besides she said she will come and it will be rude to rush her." Patchouli said making her friend sit silent at this statement.
"I..I knew that! I will just tell Sakuya to remind her if she sees her." The vampire said seemingly to have broken of in her usual manner of speech.
"If that is what you wish," She said as she lets out a stifling yawn. "I'll head back at the library, if she visits make sure to let me know okay?" Patchouli said and then stands up from her chair and walks away leaving the vampire behind.
"I will." she said and looks at her now empty cup of tea. "I wonder what fate is in stored for her? Well, I'll find out when we meet." She said as a devious smile forms on her face.
"Urgh? Whe-Where am I?" Rain said as she gets up and looked around her. She is in a flat green land and she deduced that she is no longer in Alice's house. The wind breeze is the only thing she hears and this worries her.
"This feeling, I don't like it..." She said as she clicks her tongue.
Suddenly the wind stopped and it became quiet all of the sudden. This made Rain feel like something is coming.
After a few moments of silence she heard the whispering of a voice. Rain can't make out what it is saying but it feels familiar to her and ominious at the same time.
As the whisperings continue, the land before her feet begone to change into something. She felt like she is sinking slowly and once she looks down.
She saw it was no longer a green grass land but rather a pool of blood sucking her in as if trying to drown her.
She tried to get out by struggling but to no avail and to make things worse the voice became erratic and for a second she managed to hear the word "Free".
As she slowly sinks into the sea of blood, it started to rain but seems like it is blood too. Her lack of panic as she sinks shows her resilience.
As rain of blood falls so do cherry blossoms began flying but it would seem like this cherry blossoms are also red, she tried to see if there is a tree but there is nothing. There is one thing that caught her attention and that is a human like figure staring at her from afar floating in a sea of blood. She could not tell who it is as it was far away.
Then the voice started to become aggresive and sounded angry, she could hear the words "Die" and "Kill" over and over again. She looked again at the figure and her eyes widen for it started to fly towards her at an insanely fast speed.
Before it could reach her, Rain was already submerged into the sea of blood. It was all red and she felt like she is drowning as she struggles to swim back up the voice continue to spur unrecognizable words until it slowly became clear.
"Free...me...Help...me...Why... Why.Did.You.Let.Me.DIE?"
That is what Rain could understood before her vision blacks out.
"!!!" Rain quickly gets up from the bed, sweating nervously she looks around and after a few seconds breathes a sigh of relief.
"Woah...damn so that was a nightmare? Crap that was something!" She said and then shakes her head to fully wake herself up.
"Hopefully, I didn't scream or something. I wouldn't want to worry Alice... still what was that about? Who is that person?" She murmured to herself as she comes up of possible things to explain the dream but to no avail.
"Tch...It's no use...I just leave it as a bad dream." Rain looked at the clock and saw it was still early.
"Still got an hour till breakfast huh? Alright I know what to do." She didn't want to return to bed after that nightmare hence she decided to train outside the house.
An hour passed and Alice woke up to make breakfast and was surprised to see Rain up early and swinging her sword just outside of the house. Rain saw her from the window and waved at her to which she also waves back at her and smile.
'She's a nice girl, I wouldn't even complain if she wants to live here.' Alice thought as she heads to the kitchen.
A few minutes and Alice called out to Rain for breakfast which Rain complies happily.
"Man, Alice you really are a good cook! Next time I'll be the one making the foods. Alright! time to dig in! Thank you for the food!" Rain said and then munched at the delicious food in front of her.
Alice's ears seemed have twitch at her saying that and replied "You can cook? Well aren't you full of surprises. I'm looking forward to it, oh and the others too." She said as the other dolls nodded with her.
Seeing the dolls being lively made Rain go along the happy atmosphere. "You guys are in for a treat, well that's what I remember that is actually useful." She laughs as she finishes her meal.
'Oh my... such a fast eater.' Alice thought.
"Phew! I'm stuff! Well I better get back at my training while waiting for Marisa, let's just hope she still remembers. Oh, and sorry for still using your extra clothes as I train." Rain said as she gave a short laugh.
"I doubt that, she might be still sleeping as we speak and regarding the clothes, I don't mind but you should change back to your own clothes first before continuing your training." Alice said as she sighed to herself.
"Oh right, thanks again for the food!" Rain happily said.
With that Rain changed back to her own clothes and continued her training while Alice cleans up and does her usual routine too.
An hour and a half passed and Marisa still hasn't come to pick Rain up.
"I knew it... she forgot!" Rain said dejectedly as she finishes her training.
"Told you so." Alice said as she approached Rain.
"Alright that's it! I'm going to her house directly and wake her up!" Rain said and then looks at Alice.
Alice seems to have no objection to this and said. "Well I'm going out for a while, I have errands to run at the human village."
"Wait, you're allowed to go there? Aren't the yokai are not supposed to go there as you have said?" Rain asked as she tilts her head.
"Well there are exceptions, I can explain later..." Alice said as she trails off and then she asked Rain. "Hey, why don't you come with me?"
Rain thought about it and Alice's idea sounds better than barging in another house just to wake up a sleeping witch who forgot her promise.
"Hmm, that way I can also get to talk to others, maybe I can even ask for a place to stay." Rain muttered as she continues to ponder.
But this was cut short as Marisa showed up before Rain could agree to Alice.
"Well look who decided to show up." Rain said as her face shows disappointment.
"Hey! Hey! Sorry I'm late! I had to sort things." Marisa said as she hovers down.
"Oh yeah? Like what? Sorting out the things you stole?" Rain took a jab at Marisa.
"Hey! How did ya know?" Marisa snickered.
"Just a hunch, but you, yourself confirmed it." Rain said accompanied with a short chuckle and then turned her attention to Alice.
"Well, Alice seems like my ride is here, thanks for the offer though, maybe next time we can go together?" Rain said to Alice.
Rain did not know it but that made Alice happy when she said that hence Alice replied. "I'll hold into that Rain, take care of yourself." Alice replied with a giggle and left by flying.
Marisa seeing this could not help but ask. "Looks like you two have gotten close in a single night eh? Care to share me the juicy details?" She smiled and wink at the same time.
Hearing this Rain already knows what to reply to her and crossing her arms she told her. "I won't tell you since you're late, maybe next time?" Rain teased the human magician.
"Aw, what a shame." Marisa pouts at this. She then brought the wizened old broom in her hand down, climbed over it, and motioned at Rain to get on her broom and said. "Anyways, hop on!"
"Thanks for the ride...even if you almost forgot." Rain said as she gets on the broom with Marisa.
Marisa chuckled and replied. "Anytime."
Rain took her seat – if it could be called that – behind her. Looking at it Marisa seemed to have not yet taken off and the reason was-
"You'll need to hold onto me, you know," Marisa said after what seemed like a full minute. "It's hard to balance flying this thing while keeping my passenger safe."
Rain realized what Marisa meant and said. "Ah… I'm sorry. I was wondering why you wouldn't take off." She then clamped her hands awkwardly around her waist. Even if they are both girls touching someone that casually is not Rain's cup of tea. Rain felt Marisa's hips and was surprised that she has a thin and lean figure. While she wanted to comment about it she held her tongue as she thought it would be taking it too far.
Rain settle onto the broom, "Alright, let's-" and just before she could finish, it rocketed away changing her last words into, "FUUUUU-AHHHH" She also didn't get to finish her cursing as right now her focus is to not let her breakfast earlier escape from her mouth as they fly through the air.
As they soar through the sky Rain could not help but tighten her hold to Marisa to which the Magician reacts to.
"Ow! Seems like you're not used to this now are ya?" She looked back and saw how Rain is tightly holding on to her.
"I can't help it if you're flying this fast!" Rain said and then looks down and then reacted to seeing how far up they are on the ground.
"Eek! The view from here would have been beautiful if you slow down a bit!" She complained.
Marisa giggles at her and said. "No can do! Hey, I'll show ya what's fun to do while flying! Hold on tight!"
Rain had a bad feeling about this and immediately replied. "Don't you dare drop me for fun!" As she said that Marisa began to spin their ride which made her scream "- MARISAAAA!"
It didn't take long for them to reach their destination and that is the Hakurei Shrine. It is located on the east side of Gensokyo. The shrine itself is located high in the mountains which makes it hard to visit by those who walk on foot.
The two made their way down from the sky and seems like someone is already there, sweeping the area and judging from the clothes. That person is the shrine maiden of the said shrine. It looks like she noticed them but she continued her sweeping like she saw nothing. Perhaps she is waiting for them to be the one to approach her.
Rain slowly got off and wobbled a bit while Marisa laughs at her.
"Told ya I get you back for yesterday!" She said as she watched the poor girl recollects herself.
"You... you remembered that? But not the important part?!" Rain said as she catches her breath.
'I'm so not going to fly with her again! Urk! I can feel my stomach saying uncle!' Rain thought while suppresing the urge to hurl.
"Whaddya mean? That too was important. Hehe!" She smirks and continued. "Oh, there's Reimu! Hey Reimu!" She shouted as she turned her attention to the other person.
The one called Reimu wears a red vest and skirt, with a yellow neckerchief, white detached sleeves, and a big, red ribbon tying her dark hair in the back. She heard Marisa and approached the two.
"You're here early Marisa...Hmm? Who's that with you? Certainly that's not the half-ghost." She said as she inspects Rain through looking at her.
Rain having recomposed herself looks at the shrine maiden and replied. "Finally, someone who managed to not confuse me with someone else!" She said with a relief.
"Yeah! She's not Youmu but I'd tell ya she's way more cooler than her so she's the cooler Youmu! Don't tell Youmu about what I said though." Marisa said with a grin.
"I told you not to call me that! Please don't mind her, miss shrine maiden. My name's Rain Nanase, please call me Rain." Rain said as she slightly bow to show politeness.
"I see, well I'm Reimu Hakurei, the shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine, just Reimu would be fine." She said with a smile.
"Ah, alright then, Reimu can I?" Rain said as she gestured at the donation box.
Now that she look carefully this shrine looks a lot like the one she saw from the outside world albeit this one is still standing even if it looks a bit of run down. The front of the shrine is spacious and has a red gate which is called a torri gate and beyond that leads to the end of the grounds overlooking a hillside. She decided to take a look at the parts later.
Reimu happily oblige to her and said. "Feel free to! I'll stay here with Marisa and ask about your situation to save time."
Marisa cuts in and said. "What are ya gonna wish for Rain?"
Rain hearing this immediately replied. "Protection for danger..." She trails off and continued, "That includes you Marisa." She said and then makes her way to the donation box.
"Aww that's sweet, including good ol' me in your wish." Marisa happily replied.
Reimu on the other hand said. "I don't think that's what she meant."
"Whaddya mean?" The magician tilts her head.
"Nothing..." Reimu sighs and continued, "So, tell me more about her."
With that Reimu and Marisa talked about Rain. While Rain herself is at the donation box.
"Let's see here..." Rain said as she checks her pocket.
Her face brightens up with joy as she remembered having picked up some money while helping cleaning Alice's house. Of course she lets Alice know about it and even lets her keep it.
"Offering this makes me officially broke again after this...but I get the feeling that I won't regret it." she said as she puts in the said offering and made her prayer.
Meanwhile...
"So you're saying she loss her memory and actually traveled here to get help?" Reimu crosses her arms as she seemed to be not convinced.
"Yeah...she's pretty lucky I tell ya...she met Sumireko and with her help she managed to end up here... I'm guessing you'll be having a word with her?" Marisa said.
Sumireko after all in the past was part of an incident.
The shrine maiden slowly nods her head and replied.
"This doesn't sit well with me but I guess I could help, it is what she came here for right?"
Marisa smiles at Reimu's decision and saw Rain coming back as she'd just finished her offering.
"Hey, Rain! Good news! Reimu here will help!" Marisa waves happily.
Rain seems to be pleased at this and thanks Reimu.
"Thank you for agreeing to help me, I really appreciate it!" Rain said in a very polite manner.
"Haha look at you Rain, being humble doesn't suit ya!" Marisa joked as she slowly pokes Rain with her shoulders.
"Shut it Marisa... I'm being sincere here." Rain said while gently slapping Marisa's arms.
Reimu upon seeing their interaction commented. "Are you guys best buds already? Well cut the chumminess for now. Let's go inside, it's better to talk there." She motioned her hand at the direction to the shrine.
To which they did and inside they sat down and talk over with tea. Rain was bombarded with questions in which some of them she can't answer so normally her reply to these are "I don't know."
Reimu sighed as the interrogation seems to have come to an end.
"In other words you only know your name and you're a swordsman?"
Rain responded by nodding her head.
"Reimu, I've been thinking about it for a while but don't you think..." Marisa's eyes flared up with enthusiasm, "...an incident?!"
Reimu seems to be displease about this as she rolls her eyes at Marisa's statement.
"Calm down Marisa, don't go overthinking things." Reimu said but didn't disregard that possibility.
"Aw c'mon!" Marisa is not convinced and added, "You did say you'll help right? So we need to investigate this or you're letting me take this one?"
Reimu didn't like that and seeing the smug look on Marisa's face saying "I'll beat ya this time!"
"If you're making this as a competition then... I won't lose," Reimu replied. "You're on!"
Seeing the two getting fired up over something she didn't understand Rain raises her hand in question and asked. "Hey girls, I'm still here you know? Care to explain what's this incident you guys keep talking about?"
The two heard her and obliged to explain it to her.
From what she heard an incident is an unusual phenomenon or event that occurs within Gensokyo, with a scale that extends over Gensokyo, and are of unknown cause at the time that they occur. Usually incidents are big events that warrant the attention of the incident solvers. So to say an incident is something that could threaten a change or overall harm Gensokyo itself.
"I see, so that's what an incident is..." Rain looks at the two before continuing. "So you two are the incident solvers then?"
Reimu chuckles at her and said. "Well it is my job, Marisa and the others are..." Reimu stopped as Marisa interjected.
"Hey! We all know how lazy you are Reimu!" Marisa said earning a scoff from Reimu.
"Not true, I only idle around since there is not much to do here... those pesky incident doers really need to give me a break." She sighed as she looks at the up in the ceiling for a moment.
Marisa finishes her tea and remembers that she has places to be so she said.
"Ah, I still have something else to do! I'll be leaving now, who knows I might come across with interesting things! I'll let ya guys know if I did!" Marisa then gets up from her seat and leaves.
After Marisa left Rain could not help but sigh and say. "Well there goes my ride... not like I wanted to experiece that again... I think I'll just walk back." Rain said as she tries to forget that horrible trip with Marisa.
"Walking? I do not advice that, I'm sure you are already told about the yokai?" Reimu shuts down Rain's plan.
"Yeah, but I would rather face them than flying with Marisa." Rain said as she slumps her head down on the table.
Reimu slightly smiles at her and replied. "That bad huh? I can understand that, from what Marisa told me you're temporarily staying at Alice's house?"
Rain nods at her "Mhm, I kind of feel bad freeloading there..." Rain trails off as an idea came to her, "Say...Do you know a place I can stay?" She asked Reimu.
"Hmm, your best bet would be at the human village." Reimu quickly replied.
"Figures..." Rain said dejectedly which caused Reimu to question her reaction.
"Why be sad about it? Don't you want to socialize? Oh wait don't tell me you're a lo-"
"That's not it!" Rain cutted her words quickly and retorted back at her, "I just feel like I don't belong there especially at my current state, I'll probably just cause trouble for everyone just like how I troubled you guys for helping me." she conveyed her thoughts and feelings in the matter.
Hearing this Reimu understands what she meant by that.
"I already promised Alice that I'll cook something for her. Maybe I could do the same to you as a thank you or I could do some chores? No...wait maybe I can help gather some donations and more worshippers? Yeah... that sounds better than the other two." Rain said.
Reimu from hearing this seemed to have twitched and went into a deep thinking.
'More worshippers = More donations, She can cook and do chores, and lastly she seems to be lucky maybe if I stick to her I get the same luck too!' Reimu schemed a what seemed to be a ingenious plan.
"Say Rain," Reimu tried to sound as gentle as she can, "You've stayed in Alice's house yesterday, how long do you plan on staying there?"
Rain puts a finger in her chin as she thinks about her answer and within a few seconds of thinking she answered to Reimu.
"I'm working on that, even if she doesn't mind..." Rain paused and thought of what the others have said about the shrine.
"Hey... can you let me stay here for awhile? I've figured it's best to stay here than the forest, not that I dislike my stay on Alice's house but they said the forest is dangerous and the environment there is bad for normal humans like me, though I still haven't felt the said effects, lucky me I guess?"
Reimu nods at her and happily answered.
"Well as the Hakurei Shrine maiden I cannot leave you as you are knowing the danger, so you can stay here as long as you like but..." Reimu paused for second and then continued, "Staying here doesn't mean you get to freeload, you need to help me out too such as cleaning, cooking, oh and you can help me like what you said earlier which is gathering more worshippers that will be great!" Reimu said with a smile as well as mentally smirking.
'I'm such a genius!' That's what she thought.
"Ah, yes, well thanks for having me." Rain said.
"Mm, now then, I'll give you the tour, it's best that you know where to go and also, so the others won't trouble you." Reimu uttered as she gets up from her seat and motioned Rain to follow her.
First is the indoors as they are here already.
"Right, so here is the kitchen, feel free to use it when you need to." Reimu gestured to the said kitchen and Rain nodded as her reply.
They went on and on until they go back from where they started. It's not that big so it only took a few minutes for the indoor tour to end.
"Well, that's all for the indoor tour..." She paused as she remembered something. "Ah, yes... we have others that live here as well not technically here but, tch... they are freeloaders so I hope you won't become one of them." Reimu's happy mood turned into an annoyed one in an instant.
"Pretty sure I won't, so when will I'll be be able to meet them?" Rain asked.
Reimu thinks for a moment and then replied. "You'll meet them along the way during our outside tour but for now..." she then stomps at the tatami and shouted "Hey, torch maniac! We have a newcomer! So get your butt up here!"
Rain quickly thought about what Reimu has said 'A what now? Don't tell me the others she is talking about are not...' her musing is interrupted by a blinding light.
Then after a matter of seconds a little girl with fairy like wings are now in front of them, she looks like a 10 years old girl. This little girl wears a leggings and a shirt with a pattern that strongly resembles a certain flag. In pair with this, she also has a frilled collar and wears a purple, polka-dotted jester's like hat, this made her look like a jester which looks cute. She has long, blonde hair and pink eyes. On a side note she has this torch that burns so bright that you could not help but look at it.
"Is it time for me to shine? I'm Clownpiece the hell fairy!" The girl called Clownpiece asked as she smiles at them and flails her arms in excitement.
"Hey! Don't do that! You'll burn the shrine again!" Reimu said as she quickly moved in to smack the girl in the head with her gohei.
"Ah-Ow! That hurt! I was just trying to impress the new girl!" The jester like girl said.
"That explains the flash I guess, I'm more surprised she didn't dropped the torch." Rain said as she looks at the girl and the said torch with concern.
"She better not or there will be hell to pay." Reimu said as she readied her gohei again.
"Wait, did you looked at her torch?" Reimu turned around quickly to Rain as she remembered something about the torch.
Rain gave her a puzzled looked and replied "Eh? What's so special about that torch?"
Clownpiece hearing this exclaimed "Haha! You looked at it! Now you're going to be my new minion! You look weak after all!"
"Huh?!" Rain could not help reacting to the words that the hell fairy said.
"Hey, Reimu...you wouldn't mind if I punched her right?" Rain said as she slowly curled her right hand into a fist while her eyes twitch which made the fairy gulp at seeing it.
Reimu looked at her and then smiled "Go ahead."
"Wait, you're not seriously going to hit me, right?" The poor fairly said as she thought it is just a prank.
Rain looked at her without changing her expression and replied.
"If that would calm me down, then I will." Then proceeds to slowly approach the now scared fairy.
"Eek!" Thats all the fairy could say before retreating back under the shrine.
"Didn't think you had it in you, Rain." Reimu commented.
"Sometimes you have to show them what you mean. Anyways I would have only petted her head if she didn't quickly run away." Rain said earning a chuckle from Reimu.
Though she thought about what kind of a shrine maiden will allow such a thing?
Thus they left the interior of the shrine and continued for the outside tour. There she and Reimu went to meet another one of the said people living in this area.
"Good morning, miss Reimu!" greeted the young girl with horns.
"Ah, good morning too, Aunn, we have a visitor today that will also stay here for awhile, I'd like you to meet Rain." She gestured to Rain who in return greeted Aunn.
'Another none human, I have the feeling that the others are not human besides me and Reimu.' Rain thought but that doesn't seem to bother her.
Rain looked at Aunn and examined her. This young girl has a grey cylindrical horn on top of her head. Not only that she also has grey horn-shaped ears that really states that she is not human. She has a light skin, green eyesand long seafoam-color hair. Her hair is multi-layered, the longest of which extends down past her waist into multiple points.
As for her clothing she wears a red short-sleeved collared Kariyushi shirt with 3 round white buttons down the middle, one up top and two below. Her shirt is decorated with white cloud designs and the design forms a heart shape in the middle. She also wears white shorts with wide openings for her legs, adorned with bright red cloud designs and a thick, darker red trim on the bottom edge. She wears a pair of two-tooth geta that have redhanao. She also has a curly tail which Rain wanted to touch to see if they are fluffy but she resisted such temptation.
The horned girl smiled at Rain and greeted her "It's nice to meet you miss Rain! I'm Aunn Komano." Aunn extends her hand to Rain which she shook back.
The way Aunn somehow shakes her hand while in a position of how a dog would do a handshake made Rain feel a little bit weird but seeing Aunn's cute face eliminated the weirdness that she felt.
'Uwaaah~ Did I just managed to handshake a dog? I have the urge to head pat her...' Rain thought while battling her desire.
Seeing how Aunn resembles a dog, Rain could not help but ask Reimu.
"Erm, Reimu... what does she do exactly? Is she some sort of a guard?" Rain tried her best to not say the word guard dog as it may offend Aunn.
Reimu quickly answered "Yes, she is a guard, she is after all a Komainu." Reimu said as she pointed at a Komainu statue that really resembles some of Aunn's characteristics.
Rain could not believe it but she asked one last important question.
"Well, does she get paid? I mean like food or something?"
Reimu laughs at her like she was joking and then simply answered "No".
"I'm doing voluntary work." said Aunn.
Rain did not want to dig too much to such matters hence she stopped and tried to shift the topic.
"The view here is great," she runs her fingers through her hair, "the air feels refreshing too."
"I agree on that, it feels really peaceful and relaxing." Reimu added.
Just as they were admiring the view, Rain felt a sharp pain in her head "Augh!" she exclaimed and staggered a bit. Causing Reimu to worry about her.
"Woah! You alright?" Reimu asked with a worried face.
While Aunn's reaction is different and back off while saying "Miss Reimu! Please stand back!"
This caused Reimu to be confused and asked "What?"
"She-" Before she could finish her sentence, she somehow stopped for a second and then continued.
"It-it was nothing, please forgive me for confusing you it may have just been a mistake."
This makes the shrine maiden more curious but attending to Rain is what comes first. So they left Aunn and head over to the shrine to sit and rest.
"Hey Rain, are you alright now?" Reimu asked.
Rain seemed to be have regained her strength and replied. "Yeah, I just had a headache and felt a bit dizzy," she stood up and continued, "Must have been too much tea?" she joked to ease the shrine maiden's worry.
"Sorry, that was sudden, I'd like to resume the tour if possible." she said.
"No, it's alright," Reimu replied but then held a finger, "but we have to end the tour here for now. You have to rest, besides the only remaining tour is the back so we can continue that later on."
Reimu then looks at the sky and it seemed to have turned gray. The wind itself also became cold. From the looks of it, rain is about to fall sooner or later.
"It is also about to rain." Reimu added.
"Guess another day it is then." Rain sighed as she too looked at the sky.
As for the others she haven't met yet. She was right as none of the remaining others are humans besides her and Reimu.
"I'll take care of other things while you rest. Don't try to push yourself alright?" Reimu said.
"Yeah, thanks for worrying. I'll just be here, resting." Rain replied to Reimu.
"Good." Reimu said before leaving.
As she waits for Reimu to return, she thought to herself.
'I wonder what is that about? Getting dizzy all of a sudden. Perhaps my mind is adapting?' She thought of this because of how things are not normal here. Her mind maybe is adjusting to what it is seeing and feeling but she rejects that thought.
'Nah, impossible I can't be that mentally weak, besides-' Her train of thought was interrupted by her suddenly coughing.
"Now coughing? What else could-" She then looks at her hand which she used earlier to cover her mouth. Her eyes widen as there is a small stain of blood.
She quickly wiped it off and quietly muttered. "It appears I may have problems, I better speed things up and learn what the hell is this."
Meanwhile Reimu on the other hand went back to Aunn to ask her more about what happened.
"Aunn, there you are, rain is about to fall. I mean the water rain, not Rain herself. Ugh, what am I saying?" Reimu explains herself so as not to confuse Aunn.
"Anyways I wanted to ask you about earlier..." Reimu crossed her arms while waiting for Aunn's answer, "What was it did you see?"
Aunn complied and said "You didn't notice? Miss Reimu? The evil malice that appeared when miss Rain seemed to have that headache? It's so strong and vile that I ended backing up even if it just for a moment, perhaps it is the most evil thing that I ever sensed. The only thing I can't say for sure is if it actually came from her as it felt like there is someone or something behind her when it occured."
Aunn said but didn't told Reimu about the fact that she felt fear when she sensed it. Even if it was just for a few seconds it overwhelmed her that the sole response she could do is to step back.
Reimu hearing this could not believe it. After all she should be the first one to ever felt it. How could it have alluded her?
"No, I didn't. Are you sure about it?" Reimu asked.
Aunn nodded and replied. "I didn't want to make you worry and miss Rain as she too didn't know about it. All I could say is please watch over her and be careful."
"I will, thanks for telling me, I'll investigate this. I'll be going back now." Reimu said as she left Aunn.
Both of them can't fully explain what actually happened but there is only one thing they both understood and that is: "Their duty comes first."
On her way back she thought.
'If what Aunn is saying is true, no maybe it was just a possession? If not then I'll have to...' Her musing is stopped as she saw Rain waving back at her.
Reimu smiled at Rain and quietly muttered.
"For now, I'll see what I can do."
A/N: And done! That was refreshing! Seeing how Marisa gets reckless when "driving" her broom, I wouldn't even take that ride. Reimu is still grumpy and broke, but with the addition of Rain will her plan work out, or will it backfire? Additionally, I planned to keep the "darkness" hidden until later part of the story but decided to give it a better role as a caution to our heroines. I wonder, how will they deal with this? Well the next chapter is already being written. Supposedly it will be pack with action though I have no idea how to write such a scene, lol.
