Scouting the Terrain
Chapter Text
The helicopter wobbled as a gust of wind, funneled upward from the canyons of Manhattan, buffeted the little Bell craft. Judy Park, her body twisted to look out the window beside her, reflexively tightened her grip on Bond's wrist.
"Sorry about that,"came the accented voice of the pilot over their headsets. She was a pretty Lebanese woman with an explosive mass of Mediterranean curls which encircled broad, appealing features and ice-blue eyes. Judy Kim had visibly stiffened and turned a bit frosty when the pilot had openly let her gaze linger on Bond as they boarded the helo.
"She should go back to flying above the Bekaa," Judy muttered, then she pointed. "Which building is that?"
Bond looked out at the silver art deco needle. "That's the Chrysler Building," he said.
"Pretty," Judy noticed.
"I rather prefer it to Empire State. It's more distinctive and exciting in its architecture."
"It very dated, though."
"It's unashamed to be a product of its time," Bond continued. "There's something appealing honest about that."
Judy glanced at him quickly and gave him an affection smile. "I wouldn't have guessed you'd be a romantic for architecture."
"I have an affinity for cityscapes," Bond replied.
"You must enjoy exploring new terrain, then," Judy said and turned back to the window.
"I like to acquaint myself with the territory if given the opportunity," Bond said. "You can never know what exciting little places you'll find. You just need to be willing to spend the time and attention."
Judy turned to him again. "Is that so?"
