She's a stunner.

It's the first thought to pop into Gordon's head as he spies his son and the tall, willowy redhead dressed to the nines with her arm hooked around his elbow as they enter the club, both of them with wide grins plastered across their faces and laughing at something the other has said.

His fingers move over the keys of his saxophone with just a bit more vigor then, really putting on a show for the two of them as if there isn't a room full of people he'd already been performing for. But now… his boy and someone clearly very important to him (he doesn't bring just anyone to a gig) is here and Gordon is going all out.

While playing his instrument is as easy as breathing to him, as natural to him as a second skin, it allows his attention to shift to the pair, his gaze following them as they make their way to the bar, noting how Harvey flags down the bartender and orders without even turning toward the woman to consult on her choice. A moment later a neat glass of what he knows is Harvey's preferred whiskey and a martini glass are plucked down in front of them and they cheers with twin smiles on their faces.

As the band transitions into their next song, Gordon clocks the way that the couple maneuver through the crowd, finding a secluded booth in the corner with an admittedly great view of the stage, Harvey's hand guiding her toward it at the small of her back while they move through the throng of people. As they sit and his gaze meets his son's, Gordon tosses him a wink and blows into his sax.

They sit close, focused on watching them perform the majority of the time, but occasionally, Harvey will lean in, whispering something into the woman's ear and she just rolls her eyes and chuckles, a glint that Gordon appreciates in her eye as she stares at Harvey. Once or twice her palm casually lands on his thigh or knee as she points out something happening in the bar and it looks pretty natural from his point of view.

The next half hour passes with him alternating between watching the pair and belting out tunes and working the crowd before they take their bow for the evening and he's able to make his way over to Harvey and the mysterious woman he's brought with him.

"Harvey!" Gordon exclaims enthusiastically, pulling his son up from the booth and bear hugging him. "I didn't know that you were coming tonight." It's a damn happy surprise.

"Well," Harvey beams, "I couldn't pass up an opportunity to see you play now that you're back at it. Especially in New York."

Gordon wraps his arm around his boy's shoulder, heart full and content to have him here, cheering him on doing what he loves. It's one of the best feelings in the world. Giving his shoulder a squeeze and smacking a hand over Harvey's heart, his gaze shifts to the stunning redhead watching them with an amused smirk. "Well, you gonna introduce me to your girl here, Harvey, or what?"

The grin falters ever so slightly as her eyes flicker over to Harvey's, mouth forming a tiny little "O" of surprise and just a miniscule hint of alarm if he's not mistaken, but Harvey beats her to an explanation, shaking his head. "No, she's not my… I mean we aren't…" he stumbles, much to Gordon's mirth. "This is my secretary, Dad."

"Ahhh, so this is the famous Donna. It's good to finally put a face to the name." Gordon pulls her in, wrapping his arms around her in a heartfelt embrace. He's heard a lot about the infamous wonder woman over the last few years, and she must be something pretty special for Harvey to have brought her along this evening. The hints of intimacy he'd observed between them earlier are starting to make more sense now.

Donna smirks, side eyeing Harvey a bit as she teases and returns the embrace, "Famous, am I? I'm surprised Harvey talks about anyone but himself when he calls you."

Gordon chortles, smacking a playful hand on Harvey's shoulder. "Sounds like she's got your number, son. He's been telling me stories since y'all were at the DA's office. Though I have to say, they've only gotten more wild since you moved to that fancy firm of yours."

Letting out a groan, Harvey shakes his head. "Don't make me regret introducing the two of you. I don't need you both ganging up on me," Harvey miffs, though the corner of his mouth tilts up in a way that conveys he's more entertained than anything. He looks just like Lily when he does it too, Gordon muses with just a slight pang at the thought.

"Oh please," Donna quips, and it's clear that neither of them have any trouble bantering with the other as she rebukes quickly, "We've barely even scratched the surface." Turning that sharp, intelligent gaze back on Gordon, she asks, "What do you say we get you a drink and I can wrangle out some embarrassing stories from Harvey's childhood from you. I just know you've got some good ones to bring his ego back to earth."

That playful twinkle is bright in her hazel orbs as she says it, capping off the statement with a little pat to Harvey's cheek to which he responds with a wry expression and rolls his eyes. But Gordon knows his son and beneath the vexation, there's a part of him that likes to be put in his place, to have someone challenge him, and it appears that Donna is more than up to that task.

"A fine idea. Why don't you get us a round, Harvey, and Donna and I can sit right on down here and get to know each other better. I think we're going to be fast friends." And as the affectionate man he is, Gordon pulls Donna into a side hug of her own to which she lifts up to her toes and lands a kiss to the side of his cheek while Harvey mutters something about the lord helping him under his breath and eyeing the two of them suspiciously before turning toward the bar.

Oh yeah… Harvey doesn't stand a chance in hell of keeping his heart safe from this one. In fact, if the way he's been eyeing her all night is any indication, Gordon would say that he's already fairly head over heels in love. Two minutes in, he can see why and he's pleased as punch to be privileged enough to watch it happen.

If nothing else, the two of them are gonna be in for one hell of a ride.
