What the F…Mike?

On the night Mikey was to learn he was turning into a vampire I was dancing in my kitchen while I was cutting some veggies to go with dinner. I was singing along with "Queen of Mean" by Sarah Jeffery from the Descendants 3 soundtrack. The music was loud enough that I didn't hear my front door open. I turn around when I feel like someone is watching me. Michael had invited himself inside my home. He looks like shit. I can see he is struggling with his thirst. "What are you doing in my house?" I asked him while I used a towel to wipe off my hands.

Michael didn't answer my question, he just kept staring at me with anger and possibly hunger in his eyes. I slowly moved toward the knife I was using for the vegetables. He notices my movement and rushes to grab the knife first. He was able to grab the handle of the knife before I could, but I grabbed his wrist to try and keep the knife pointed away from me. I knocked his hand against the counter hoping he would drop the knife. Instead, he backhanded me with his free hand.

The strength behind the hit had me stumbling away from him and clutching the side of my face. I regained my footing in time to see Michael lunge at me with the knife. I slid down the counter, throwing his aim off. He ended up stabbing me in the shoulder. With the knife embedded in my shoulder, he let go and stood up. I watched his face shift when he caught the scent of my blood.

I didn't wait for him to attack again. I stood up, gripped the handle of the knife and pulled it out, and threw it at Michael. It barely nicked him on the cheek before falling to the floor. I scrambled past him to run to the backyard where my pups were playing. They must have heard everything since both of them were trying to claw the door to get inside. Michael was right behind me. He caught up to me and shoved me with all his strength.

Doing so, knocked me into the door hard enough to break away from its hinges. Some of the wood from the door stuck to my back and my already injured shoulder. I lifted my head to see that Sirius and Regulus had surrounded Mike, occasionally snapping at him, growling and baring their teeth.

I used my uninjured hand to push myself into a sitting position so I could move further away from Michael. When there was a gap big enough between Sirius and Regulus, Mike sprinted towards me again. Regulus snapped his jaws around Mike's ankle and pulled him back causing him to fall and dragged a few feet away. Sirius bit the same hand Nanook did last night. Neither wolf was going to let go of Michael, giving me more time to get further away.

I heard Mike yell at me, "Get them off me!" "No. You attacked me. You're lucky they haven't torn your throat out," I said back to him. I slowly stood up and limped around him and my pups to go back inside. Once I was over the threshold I told my pups to let him go. Sirius let go first and came and stood by me, Regulus did the same. Both stood in a protective stance in front of me. I threatened Michael, "Don't ever come near me again or I'll put a bullet in your skull. Now, get the hell off my property!"

I watched him limp back to his house to his dirt bike and then he rode off his property towards the Boardwalk. I made my way to my bathroom to clean up my injuries. My back wasn't as hurt as it felt, just a few splinters of wood stuck in my back but weren't that deep. It was the knife wound on my shoulder that was difficult to deal with but I managed.

New Plan

I had just finished bandaging up my shoulder after a shower when the boys showed up. I could hear them banter back and forth about how Mike rode away like a scared bitch after seeing them feed. I was struggling to put on a tee shirt in my bathroom when I heard Marko ask the others, "What happened to the back door?" Dwayne and Marko went to check out the damage to the door. David and Paul came up to my room only to be stopped by a growling Regulus.

"Reg, it's fine. They don't know," I said to my pup and he stops growling but doesn't move out of their way. From where they were standing, they couldn't see me but I could see Regulus. David, impatient as ever, asked, "What don't we know?" I tried to lift my injured shoulder up to put my arm into the shirt but it hurt too badly. The wound was still bleeding a little, the movement of my arm made it worse. The blood was seeping through the bandage, the scent of my blood hitting them finally.

Regulus moved out of the way so they could get by. Paul reached me first, "What happened?" He stood behind me and peeled the bandages off. The wound started to heavily bleed. David was closest to the first aid kit, he handed Paul some clean gauze. I flinched as Paul put the new gauze against the wound and added more pressure.

"Mike happened. He just waltzed into my house and attacked me. I got stabbed with my own kitchen knife. He was definitely struggling with his thirst when he showed up. After I got stabbed I ran for the backdoor to get help from the pups when he threw me against it. He left for the boardwalk after Reg and Sirius took a bite out of him, and I threatened to shoot him the next time he came near me." I finished explaining what happened as Paul bandaged my shoulder better than I did. Then he helped me slide my arm into my tee shirt.

David stood there listening then was lost in thought for a moment, "That explains why he was favoring one hand and had a slight limp. We showed him what we are and what he is turning into. He had pretty much the same reaction as the movie. So, I'm guessing tomorrow is when the attack should happen?"

In the silence that follows the boys and I were able to hear Michael and Sam yell to Star. I turn to leave the bathroom, "As you just heard, it is happening tomorrow in the early afternoon. We can either do what I did last time or you guys can ride back to the cave, wait until Star is asleep, and come back here. If you're not in the cave, you won't be attacked." Dwayne and Marko had joined us in my bedroom. I moved to sit on my bed so we can figure out what to do next.

Marko was chewing on his thumbnail, "What did you do last time?" I smiled mischievously, "I put together an electric fence that was placed over the opening where you guys sleep. They didn't realize what it was until one of them was being electrocuted. I set it up in a way that the 'off' switch was on your side of the fence. I left a note, asking you guys to come here before anything else, then I showed you all the end of the movie. From there everything changed. Max, the Frogs, and the Emersons died. Laddie was human and was staying with me or back at the cave with you guys. After about a week is when Matthius reset the timeline."

"And only Paul and you remember the last time," Dwayne stated. Paul nodded his head, "Yeah, because Jenn found the journals that had the information that brought her here and she put together something to possibly get her back home. I touched the damn thing, leaving a trace behind. If I didn't touch it, I wouldn't have remembered because Ratty Matty was going to reset everything anyway." I laughed under my breath, "Ratty Matty?"

Dwayne shook his head, "That's messed up. All because Matthius is bored." He looks to David, "What do you think we should do?" David wasn't too sure about staying in my house, but the cave wasn't safe anymore either. It was not an easy decision. I can see he was trying to make the right decision for the safety of his pack brothers. He gives another option, "Or we could kill them all? Starting right now with Mikey and his family?"

"Got to watch out for Grandpa. Other than him, I don't see why not," I try to shrug my shoulders but wince in pain. "However, I will be of no help since Mike attacked me. He's probably told his brother some bullshit story making me out to be the bad guy." They all agreed with me. Paul opens and leans out my window towards the Emersons'. He could see that "All the lights are off." He came back inside and closed my window.

They all nodded to each other and quickly left out my backdoor. I slowly move downstairs to the basement and grab a long-range rifle with a few rounds. I position myself at the window facing the Emersons, look through the scope with night vision, and wait. I watch the vampires sneak into the house.

They had split into pairs. Marko and Paul head into Sam's room, while Dwayne and David head for Lucy's room. I couldn't see everything that was going on until the blood splattered the window in Sam's room. I moved the scope to Lucy's room and could tell they killed her and were moving to Grandpa's room. All four of them enter the old man's room. I didn't have a clear visual of his room though. It didn't take long before David and the boys went into Michael's room. I could see through the scope that Dwayne, Paul, and Marko held Mike down while David taunted him a bit before tearing Mike's throat open with his teeth.

I went and put my rifle away as they came back into my house covered in blood. Now we wait for Matthius to show. The boys had finished cleaning themselves up when the strangest thing happened…My iPhone rang. "What the hell?" I could hear the familiar tone of FaceTime. I move to pick it up and see my best friend's contact pic on the screen. I swipe to answer it and I didn't get a word out before I was scolded. "What the hell, dude? Where the fuck are you?!" Lizzie, my friend practically screamed at me. I was too dazed to answer.

Paul was right next to me. It seems he hardly leaves my side whenever we're all together. He carefully took my phone, looked at the screen, and gave a cheeky smile, "Hey…Hey!" I snapped out of it and took my phone back, "Lizzie?" "No, the Easter Bunny. What's going on? Why did a guy that looks like Brooke McCarter grab your phone?" Lizzie is just as confused as me. "Um, long story very short. I drove through the fourth wall. That wasn't Brooke, that was Paul," I watched as Lizzie's face held an expression of shock.

Lizzie didn't speak for a moment so I explained everything that happened. The explanation was going fine until I told her how long I've been gone. She then shocked me, "Jenn, honey. You've been missing for two years." I nearly dropped my phone. Paul could feel my uneasiness so he scooted closer to me. Which made it to where he could see the screen, "So…If Jenn has been missing for two years, why are you calling?" He didn't mean for it to sound rude, he was just curious.

Lizzie sighed loudly, "I would try to call, message, or FaceTime every once in a while hoping Jenn would pick up. I was actually driving the route she disappear on when Jenn picked up my FaceTime." I look at the background, "Wait? Where are you exactly?" "About ten minutes outside of Santa Cruz. Why?" Lizzie questioned as she got a little bit more comfortable.

I close my eyes and take a deep breath, "That's about where I drove through the fourth wall but it looked like fog. I was five miles outside of Santa Cruz, then I drove through the fog into Santa Carla." I could see Lizzie's eyes shift to look over the top of her phone, "Now that you mention it, there's a creepy fog rolling in."

"That's probably why the call went through. You're near the fourth wall I drove through. You could either drive through it and end up here with me or turn around…" I was cut off from what I was going to say. "And miss a chance to fuck up the plot? Not a chance," Lizzie giggled. I watched her mount her phone onto the dash and start her car. I could hear her shift her souped-up Honda into gear and skid back onto the highway. Before we lost signal I told Lizzie, "Meet at the Boardwalk." "Alright, see you there," Lizzie disconnected on her end as the signal lagged.

Paul helped me stand up so we can go downstairs to leave for the Boardwalk. I knew the boys heard the call since they were already outside mounted on their bikes. I was lost in thought as I held onto Paul on the way to the Boardwalk. When we pulled up to the Boardwalk I looked for Lizzie's Honda in the parking lot. I laughed when I spotted it. Lizzie had outdone herself this time when she covered her newest Honda in various skulls. I shook my head at the sharpie art covering her Honda Civic. Lizzie always favored Honda for their ability to be modified. My best friend is an adrenaline junkie when it comes to her cars.

I tap Paul on the shoulder and point to Lizzie's car. As we pull up closer I could hear her music, "Pop/Stars" by K/DA. She noticed us pulling up so she turned the music down and got out, "Sup, bitch!" I dismount from behind Paul, run, and hug my best friend, trying not to cry at the familiar scent of her body spray. I calm down as Lizzie starts to talk, "I have so much to tell you."
