The Crystal Gems are not the only rebellion group on Earth. Another exists called the Rainbow Gems, and they too have their own hybrid child named Kameron Evans. When Homeworld begins showing renewed interest in Earth, it's up to both gem factions to fight and protect their home like they always have.

Steven Universe. In the main continuity, he is the only human-gem hybrid we get. In this continuity, others exist. A prominent example would be Jason West, the gateway to the human world beyond Beach City. The thing about gateways is they tend not to be one way. When you take a greater look at the world, it stands to reason there'd be threats other than Homeworld to consider.
