AN: Another chapter down. Not much to say about this one, except this is a little outside my usual comfort zone and I'm enjoying trying to write this. Hopefully its also fun to read.
Kamen Rider Ranger: Thanks, glad to hear you're enjoying it. Stella's power of being able to fit on a couch and hold Lincoln's hand is indeed formidable, and even I'm not sure if the other girls will be able to match her in that area. Maybe if Lynn ever gets a proper living space constructed...
Skully13: I couldn't say. Though, after that display, people would probably be forgiven for assuming he was with Stella. I suppose at some point I'll have to see what happens when Lynn finds out how clingy Stella's being with Lincoln...
Guest99: I have plans for at least a couple of the KOTM guys to show up in one form or another. Maybe more beyond that, as I've said this is one of those stories where I don't have too much planned in advance, but we'll see where things go.
Jeff: She saw an opportunity and took it.
Guest(Presumably Cookie Warlord): Yeah, I thought it'd be fun to write Stella that way. That was the whole point of writing that chapter, I just wanted to get to the part where Stella could do her thing, and I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. Glad you also liked it.
I believe I've watched that Godzilla cartoon, because I distinctly remember Godzookey for better or worse. ("And Godzoooooookeeeeey") Haven't thought about it in ages, lol, but might be worth seeing if I can find some episodes. I seem to recall that the Johnny Quest-esque family that served as the main characters would summon Godzilla to fight the monster of the day like he was a giant robot or something, lol.
I quite liked the Matthew Broderick film when I was a kid. Pretty sure it actually sucks, but I was one of the target demographic when it came out and ended up seeing it like three times in theaters. They had that amazing ad campaign where they'd like, take a bus and put something like "His foot is the size of this bus!" on the side. I also had the action figure of Jean Reno's character, because he was legitimately the best thing about the movie. Never watched the cartoon, but I always thought the commercials looked cool.
And like I said, by all means feel free to share. I always enjoy reading your reviews, and that helps a lot in finding the motivation to work on another chapter.
The next attack came quickly and with little warning.
"Lynn, is your crappy cereal really all we can get for breakfast?" Sam grumbled as she watched an assortment of cereal pieces shaped like barbells, sports balls, and Lynn's grinning face gently tumble down from her oversized spoon into an equally oversized bowl that was filled with roughly a swimming pool's worth of milk. "It's been days, and this stuff tastes like cardboard. And I do mean actual cardboard."
Royal Woods' resident giantess trio were sitting in what Lynn had dubbed her "breakfast nook". In truth, walls and ceilings were still largely on back order for The Fort, so at the moment said nook was just a table and some hastily assembled chairs that had been shoved into a corner that wasn't needed for anything more important at the moment. Which did provide occupants with a gorgeous view of the ocean, but so did roughly 90% of the structure.
"I'm contractually obligated to eat a certain amount each week so that some of the truths in my commercials keep on being true," Lynn mumbled around a mouthful of the substance. "And you guys are sharing the food budget that was just designed to feed me. So until the next budget meeting, this is what we eat for breakfast."
She swallowed loudly. "And for your information, Lynnzilla Crunchies has 30% less cardboard than the maximum amount allowed in cereals marketed at children. So stick that in your guitar, blondie!"
"What's the maximum amount?" Luna asked, giving her own spoonful of food-like substance a suspicious sniff.
"Wait, I actually asked about this," Lynn replied, frowning in concentration. "I think it was something like, 150%?"
Just then, a loud blaring resounded through the air, cutting off any further discussion on that point.
"Dude!" Luna shouted as she clamped her hands over her ears, wincing in pain as her heightened hearing, which had previously served her well in the teeming jungles of The Island, was now subjecting her to a splitting headache. "What the hell is that?"
"That's the Lynnzilla Signal!" Lynn called back, her pained expression showing that she was experiencing a similar amount id discomfort. "The...Lygnal? It's for me!"
Rummaging around in the pocket of her skin-tight shorts, Lynn somehow produced a phone and initiated a video call.
"Lisa!" Lynn bellowed. "I'm here! Now turn that crap down!"
Immediately, the blaring was reduced to about half of its original volume, causing all three girls to let out sighs of relief.
"Apologies," Said the image of the brown-haired scientist. "Finding a better way of alerting you is still on our to-do list."
"Seems like a lot of things are on that damn list," Lynn grumbled, shaking her head in annoyance. "Anyway, what's up? Did my new sweatbands come in?"
"We've been over this Lynn," Lisa replied, sighing in exasperation. "The town klaxons—"
"Lynnzilla Signal."
The scientist clenched her teeth before continuing. "The town klaxons are hooked up to the seismographs we've installed up and down the coast. If they're going off, that means the seismographs are picking up a substantial amount of activity. Which means…?"
Lynn pursed her lips as her brow furrowed in concentration.
"It means...something's coming, right?"
"Yes," Lisa sighed again, this time in relief. "Thank you, Samantha. Something big."
"Got here as fast as I could, Lees," Lincoln called out as he dashed through the doorway of the younger girl's personal command center.
"Lincoln!" Exclaimed the now perplexed scientist. "I'm...pleased to see you, but why aren't you heading to the shelters with the rest of our family? And for that matter, how did you get into my bunker?"
"The password is still your birthday," He replied, eliciting a groan from the young scientist as he slid into an empty chair near her. "As for why I'm here...well, I can't hide while the girls are out there fighting. I want to help If I can."
"I suppose you're as safe here as you would be in one of the public shelters…" Lisa began before a loud squawking from her phone demanded her attention.
"I hear Lincoln!"
"What? I wanna see! Move!"
"Get in line, chumps!"
"One moment," Lisa muttered, as she fiddled with her phone and her command console. "Just going to transfer the call to the main monitor here, and...there!"
Immediately a large monitor on the wall lit up, displaying live feed of Sam and Lynn grinding their cheeks against each other, each emphatically trying to shove the other out of the frame, while Luna stood behind Lynn, angrily gnawing on the younger woman's head. Almost in unison, the trio seemed to notice that they were being watched and began to sheepishly wave at the audience.
"Heeeey, Linc!"
"Hey lil' bro!"
Lincoln and Lisa exchanged looks, and the younger girl sighed in exasperation.
"Big bother, while I'm always happy to spend time with you, I'm starting to wonder how much help you might actually be…"
"Okay, we're here at the coast!" Lynn shouted, as she excitedly pumped one arm in the air.
"Weren't we already at the coast?" Luna asked, glancing around at their now different, but still very familiar-looking surroundings. "Why'd we hike all the way over here?"
"It's a different coast, Lunes," Lynn replied, rolling her eyes.
"There are, in fact, many different coastlines," Lisa added, her voice broadcasting directly into the ears of the giant ladies courtesy of the earrings they all now wore. "Kaiju always emerge at the coast, but not necessarily the same coast. That's why they're a global problem."
"Can everybody please stop saying coast?" Sam asked. "Seriously, it's starting to lose all meaning!"
A beat of silence followed.
"...Coast," Said Lincoln, immediately eliciting groans from all four girls. "Sorry."
"Anyway," Said Lynn, "Are you sure we're in the right spot Lisa? Because it's looking pretty…"
And then she was abruptly cut off as a powerful tremor shook the ground. Short, yet violent, words that had previously been used to describe Lynn herself at her old stature. The gargantuan trio traded glances, the unspoken "Did you feel that?" hanging heavily in the air.
"Just saw a large spike in activity," Came Lisa's voice, "From the sudden bout of silence, I'm assuming you felt that. Which...huh."
"What's wrong, Lisa?" Lincoln asked, sounding concerned.
Lynn's eyes widened as the ocean began to churn violently, now only half listening to her siblings as the ground began to tremble anew.
"It's just...strange," Lisa muttered. "These vibration patterns, I could swear I've seen them before. Lincoln, what's the status of those drones I sent out? I need visual!"
Whatever her brother's reply had been went unheard by Lynn as the ground lurched beneath her, very nearly sending the giantess toppling to the ground. At that same moment, there was an aquatic explosion, a deluge of water blasting in all directions as a massive figure emerged, rising from beneath the waves, and towering over the landscape as it let loose a roar that shattered the air, causing Lynn to reel back from the sheer pressure it generated. As stumbled back, trying to regain her footing, she glanced upward, craning her neck backward as she took in the new arrival...and let out a low, mildly alarmed whistle.
"...Ah, yes," Came Lisa's voice, faint though it was to the titaness' still ringing ears. "I should have known."
"Geon," Lynn muttered, feeling her heart leap up into her throat.
As she was now afforded an opportunity to properly observe the beast, Lynn realized it both was and was not her foe. It was quite obviously the draconic beast from the ocean depths that she'd previously squared off against and defeated, but since then it appeared that the beast had undergone some changes.
For one thing, it was leaner, it's powerful musculature now packed into a sleeker, but no less dangerous-looking frame than before. Its scales, previously a dull green hue now shined with new life, bright and vivid. The spikes that had previously adorned its back, flat and plate-like, like that of a stegosaurus, now resembled spines, thinner but far sharper looking, trailing all the way from the top of it's head down to its tail, which itself now terminated with a bulbous, wickedly spiked tip, like that of mace. And then, of course, there was also the fact that it was…
"Huuuuuuuge!" Sam breathed, shuffling closer to Lynn. "Holy...uh...wow…"
"Get ahold of yourself, Sharp," Lynn muttered, jabbing the other girl with her elbow.
...bigger. It had somehow gotten bigger. Which was significant, because Geon had already dwarfed Lynn in their previous encounter, and now it did even more so. If she had to guess, she'd estimate that Geon was now roughly four times her size. Which was just...swell.
"S-sorry," Sam replied, sucking in deep lungfuls of air. "It's just been a while since anything's made me feel...small…"
"I know what you mean, babe," Luna murmured, stepping up alongside the blonde and taking her hand in her own. "That's a pretty weird feeling."
"Lynn?" The former sports star jerked in surprise as Lisa's voice crackled into existence.
"Y-yeah, Lees," She muttered, unnecessarily touching one hand to her earrings. "I hear ya,"
"I take it you've noticed the changes that were wrought upon our old friend," said the scientist. "Fascinating that it could undergo such a metamorphosis in such a short time. Terrifying, but nevertheless fascinating."
"That's great, Lees," Lynn replied, rolling her eyes. "So what's the word?"
"Well, I've just received a report from HQ. Apparently, the creature has now been re-designated to better reflect its new form. We are now calling it…" The scientist sighed, and her exasperation was palpable, even across the broadcast. "Super Geon."
"I've been meaning to ask about that," Said Lincoln, and for a moment Lynn's panic dissipated as the sound of her brother's voice set her heart a flutter. "You guys come up with these names yourself?"
"Sadly, yes," Lisa replied. "I'm not privy as to whom it is, exactly, but apparently we pay somebody to do this. That's your tax dollars at work…"
"Lisa!" Lynn snapped. "I meant, do you have anything helpful to tell us!"
And just like that, everything went silent. Knowing that she likely wasn't going to enjoy what she saw, Lynn looked up once more...and found herself locking gazes with the creature, its eyes staring down directly at her.
"You think it remembers you?" Luna muttered, leaning in close to Lynn.
Her response was an ear-piercing shriek of saurian fury.
"...Yeah," Lynn replied, as she clenched her fists and settled into a combat stance. "Pretty sure it remembers me."
