Pink whined tiredly as she laid in bed, coughing terribly as she held her stomach.
"Perhaps we should cancel and reschedule my Unveiling of the factory… until Pink is better." Blue reasoned as White eyed the thermometer that had just been in her baby's mouth. 101 was way too high for Pink to be doing anything, absolutely. But White was conflicted about canceling this major event…again.
"No, ABSOLUTELY not! We've already canceled three times! We can't…we can't cancel anymore! That Rose Quartz is already having a field day with us canceling three times in two months, imagine the articles if we canceled a fourth time!!!" Yellow interjected angrily as she slammed her hand down on Pink's dresser. White scowled when Pink whimpered curling into a tighter fetal position.
"Look, we'll head over there, Blue will cut the ribbon, we'll say a few words, we'll mingle, and this will all get swept under the rug and that blasted Rose Quartz will have nothing to say." White stated sternly, as she brushed Pink's hair from her clammy forehead.
"She unfortunately always has something to say." Yellow complained before her and Blue nodded reluctantly, then disappeared to get ready for the event. White tsked as she eyed her poor baby who hadn't been feeling well for two days now.
"Mama, can I still go with you?" She asked pitifully and White frowned sadly.
"Oh baby, I'm afraid you'll have to stay here!" She explained softly, as she brushed against Pink's flushed cheek. Before Pink could object Wendy slammed into the room.
"Apologies, apologies for interrupting but…Ms Diamond there's been a development!" Wendy exclaimed, clutching her clipboard to her chest as she heaved out of breath from running up the stairs.
"Well what is it?! Can't you see I'm busy? Pink has -"
"Set a fire! I mean that, that Rose Quartz set a fire at your facility, the big one at the edge of town! Firefighters put it out but there's a lot of damage, we need you to take a look!" Wendy pleaded, holding out the clipboard.
"WHAT???? Give me that you incompetent fool!" White snapped, yanking the clipboard from Wendy's shaking hands roughly making the poor woman flinch.
"Do we have proof of her being involved? Did the cameras catch anything? Anything we can charge her with?" White demanded as she eyed the documents. Wendy gulped, shaking her head tiredly.
"Unfortunately, the cameras that would've caught anything were burned to a crisp and the memory cards were smashed to bits, so we just have a few eye witnesses who claim they saw her climbing a ladder onto the roof, and one saying they heard her shout 'for the crystal gems…' whatever nonsense that means.." Wendy laughed nervously as White glared daggers at her.
"So nothing useful?! What do I pay these fools for? To stand and stare while some criminal sets fire to my business?! Fire them all and get me the best construction company on the phone. We need to handle this immediately!" White bellowed, shaking her head angrily. Pink coughed pitifully from her bed.
"Mama is she gonna hurt us?" She whispered tearfully, having sat up in bed, no doubt from fright at hearing what that woman had done . White felt her heart constrict at her child's words. Hurt them? She quickly returned to her baby's side brushing her hair from her face and kissed her forehead.
"Starlight, there's nothing to worry about, I'd never let anyone hurt my family. She's an insignificant fool, who will be dealt with soon enough. Trash like her always gets sloppy." White stated, encouraging her sick child to lay back down.
"But Mama, promise she won't hurt us, that she won't hurt me?" Pink begged fearfully, and though she was now fifteen and had been a few months or so now, to White she would always be her baby. It was moments like these that cemented this fact.
"Of course baby, I would never let anyone hurt you, I promise!" She promised sincerely and Pink smiled, her eyes slipping closed.
"Okay, love you mama." She whispered, falling asleep, making White smile.
She'd just closed Pink's door when Yellow appeared at the top of the stairs looking grim.
"She's flooded the entire factory by the cove and cut wires left and right, it's an electrical hazard, oh and of course the cameras caught nothing, three people are injured and one almost died, no one saw anything but painted on the side in hot pink paint it said 'For the Crystal Gems' which is apparently a movement to stop us!" Yellow raged as she paced the kitchen angrily. Blue shook her head fearfully. White seethed with frustration and hate for this woman, this Rose Quartz.
"Well there's only one thing we can do, we'll each have to go to the factories separately, bring your body guards, keep to the scripts I've given you and do not engage with this hooligan, if you see her or even catch a whiff of her call the authorities immediately! Am I understood?" White demanded.
"Of course mother I-" Blue started to agree when suddenly White tugged her into her arms, Pink's words were circling in her mind. Yellow watched her from the edge of the kitchen, her eyes dark. White wouldn't let this criminal hurt her family, she gestured Yellow over, pulling both women into a tight embrace.
"You better listen, she's a dangerous lunatic, if you see her don't engage, call the police, understood?" She repeated, making both women nod adamantly.
Pink waited, listening quietly until she was sure her family had gone, the operation was a success, now that her family was going their separate ways it would be that much easier to scare Blue. She quickly climbed out of bed, pulling the humidifier from under her bed, the one she'd held to her face to give herself the clammy feeling to her skin. She quickly returned it to the hall closet, and tucked the thermometer in her sidetable drawer, turning off her lamp.
She'd held the thermometer onto the lightbulb on her nightstand lamp, checking it every few seconds to make sure it didn't rise to a temperature that would have her mom sending her to the hospital, but just enough that she'd be sidelined and bedridden from the chaos. Swiftly Pink returned her heat pad to the bathroom and showered quickly. She carefully climbed out the window of living room, the one that faced her neighbor's fence, no one would see her.
She tugged the black hoodie Pearl had bought her, over her head so no one would recognize her and quickly made her way to her and Pearl's hideout. It was a short bus ride away, but it was all worth it.
"You ready to make your first debut, Ms Quartz?" Pearl asked smugly as she leaned against the cave they'd been building a hideout in for the past few months in a city over from her hometown.
"You know I am."
