Needless to say, Ms. Forester, Penny, and Bolt had quit the show after what had happened. They didn't want to be in the spotlight after what had happened. Penny's agent had said something that this would go on television, which Ms. Forester was more than happy to kick him out of that ambulance.
Bolt and Lucy were taken to the emergency vet while Penny was taken to the hospital. Afterwards, Lucy and Mittens' were transferred ownership to Ms. Forester after they didn't find any microchip in them. Even Rhino was adopted by Ms. Forester.
Lucy woke up in the vet a little while after she was treated. An IV was in her leg so she could get some fluids in her and she had a bandage around her hind leg. She didn't know that she got burned while she was in that building. "Hmm...? Bolt...?" she said, her head spinning from the drugs she was given. She didn't see him and got worried. Mostly because she was inside a vet cage bank that had the door shut.
"No.. I can't be back here! I can't!" she whimpered, her ears dropping. She closed her eyes and had her paws over them, dropping her ears all the way and her tail was curled beside her. Her body was shak ing like a leaf and she was whimpering. "Easy, Lucy," Ms. Forester said, making Lucy uncover her eyes a bit. The cage was opened gently so the husky wouldn't be frightened even more.
"Easy, old girl. It's just me," she said, gently extending her hand in Lucy's direction. She raised her ears a bit and she uncovered her face. The husky moved closer to her and saw Ms. Forester's hand coming towards her, making her close her eyes tightly.
The husky felt the woman's hand touch her head, making her feel slightly relaxed. The last time she had a loving touch like this, she was a puppy. She had forgotten what it felt like. Even when Penny had hugged and petted her before the fire. "You're coming home with Penny, Bolt, and me. Even your cat and hamster friend," she assured in a soft voice.
Lucy relaxed and she laid her head down between her forelegs for a moment before remembering that Bolt was in the fire too. She raised her head and she was looking around for the white shepherd. "Don't worry, Bolt is alright. He is at our home. You're going home tomorrow, girl. Penny can't wait to have you home again," Ms. Forester said in a soft voice.
Lucy felt her nerves slowly start to relax when she heard this. She wondered why Bolt wasn't in here, or how long she was unconscious for. "Alright, I gotta go, old girl. I'll be back tomorrow to get you," Ms. Forester said, gently petting her behind the ear, which made Lucy's tail wag a bit. The red husky fell back asleep, letting her head lean against her right foreleg, curling her tail around her body.
*X*
Lucy was brought home the next day. It was in a rural two-story house with a wrap-around porch, and a huge yard that didn't have a fence around it. Penny was waiting for Lucy along with Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino. Bolt couldn't sit still, his tail wagging and a huge smile on his muzzle.
Lucy jumped out of the car, now with a cleaner coat since she had a bath while she was there. She saw Bolt and her tail wagged when she did see him. "Bolt!" she barked as she ran over to him. "Lucy!" Bolt exclaimed as he ran off the porch. The two dogs started to jump around each other with a huge smile on their faces.
They nuzzled and licked each other on the cheeks. "I'm so glad that you're okay," Bolt said in relief. "Me too… I thought we were goners…" Lucy replied after they stepped back from him. Bolt was blown away when he saw how cleaner she looked. Lucy then glanced over to Penny, who was smiling at the two dogs playing.
Lucy trotted over to her, smiling at Mittens and Rhino. "It's good to have you back, Lucy," the cat said. "It feels good to be back. You're looking better," the red husky said to the cat. "You're not so bad yourself," Mittens said, smiling at the red husky. "I know. I hadn't felt this good in so long," Lucy said, referring to her now sleeker coat. But her scars still showed on her body; That was something she couldn't ever get rid of.
Lucy looked down at the hamster, who was in a new ball that Ms. Forester had got him. "Got a new ball, Rhino?" Lucy asked. "Yeah, yeah! It's be-awesome!" the hamster exclaimed as he started running around in his new ball, which made the husky smile a bit. She then glanced up at the red-head girl.
"It's good to have you back, Luce," Penny said as she knelt down to pet the husky between her ears. Lucy smiled at the young girl as she was being petted. "I got something for you," she said as she pulled out a red bandana, which made the husky tilt her head.
Penny tied it around her neck, which suited her very well. Penny also had a black collar; the same black collar that she had when she was still a puppy. "You remember this?" Penny said as she let the husky look at the collar. She let out a bark as she smiled at the girl, wagging her tail. Penny put it on around Lucy's neck and it fit surprisingly.
Lucy started crying a bit when she felt the collar around her neck. They were tears of happiness because she was officially back in the family. She couldn't be happier. Rhino announced that the new episode of Bolt's show was coming on so they could watch it. However the actress for Penny had been replaced since she quit the show and Bolt's 'stunt double' was in the show too.
When they watched the show, they saw that it was about aliens. Rhino shut off the tv, looking baffled at what he saw on the tv. "That is totally unrealistic," he said, his mouth dropped a bit. "Absolutely ridonculous," Bolt said as he laid down on the couch. "You're right about that," Lucy said as she laid down beside Bolt. "You can say that again," Mittens said.
Ms. Forester started petting the cat on her back, which made her back arch up. "Oh, yeah! Right there! Over! Yeah… that's the spot," the cat said, leaning into Ms. Forester, letting out a meow. Then, Bolt's toy carrot, Mr. Carrot was tossed onto the couch. Bolt and Lucy both looked up at the toy when it landed on the couch.
Bolt jumped up and grabbed the toy, shaking it a bit as it squeaked. He looked up and saw Penny coming up to them while carrying a camera. "Hey, silly doggy," she said in a silly voice to the white shepherd. She then sat down in front of the couch with her camera, posing in front of it. The two dogs, cat, and hamster were in the shot.
The picture printed out of the polaroid of them. "That's a keeper," Penny said after pulling the printed picture out. She then turned towards the two dogs with a smile on her face. "You two wanna play outside? Huh? You guys wanna play outside?" Penny asked the two dogs, who were bouncing around on the couch. They were getting very excited about going outside.
"Let's go!" Penny laughed as she grabbed Bolt's toy. They ran outside while Bolt and Lucy happily barked while chasing Penny happily in the yard. When Penny would throw Mr. Carrot, the two dogs wouldn't hesitate to go after it. They couldn't be happier being in their new home, just being normal dogs.
Who knows? They may expand their little family to something much bigger.
