(Six Days later)
Riley was standing at a window on the second floor, staring out at the street outside her house. Adrian noticed Riley by herself, staring out the window at something, when he emerged from the restroom. Adrian's curiosity had him come up behind Riley and put his arms around her waist, wondering what had captured her whole focus.
He moved forward, wrapping his arms around Riley's waist, and said, "Honey, is everything alright?" Riley gradually turned to face Adrian. He saw the concern and emotions in her eyes. Riley stated, "We might have a problem, Rameo." "So what is the problem?" he inquired.
Riley said, "Strigoi."
Adrian peered out the window as his head snapped up. "Where?" he inquired. "Two up the street, two down the street, next to the corner," Riley pointed. "If you peer across the street, you realize that the abandoned apartment building with blacked-out curtains is a strigoi nest." "I have been standing here for almost an hour, watching them, and discovering there are about ten strigois." "I have watched them come and go from an abandoned apartment across the street."
His eyes widened in panic as he realized how serious the situation was. Adrian knew that they, along with everyone in their immediate proximity, were in grave danger from Strigoi, the deadliest and most violent sort of un-dead. He evaluated the situation quickly and saw how serious the threat was. Adrian's heart raced as he assessed the dire circumstances. With ten strigois lurking just across the street, their lives hung in the balance. He knew immediate action was necessary to protect themselves and those around them from the relentless and bloodthirsty creatures.
Adrian wrapped his arms tighter around Riley's body, showing fear on his face. Riley said, "Don't worry, Romeo!" "Soon, the house will be going into lockdown." "I make sure that keeps everyone safe." Adrian couldn't help but feel a sense of relief knowing that Riley was taking charge. He knew that with Riley's resourcefulness and determination, they stood a fighting chance against the creatures lurking just outside.
Riley peered up and glazed Adrian's eyes, noticing his were emerald green. Adrian peered into Riley and noticed the bright blue as he slowly moved down and started kissing her lips. As their lips met, a surge of warmth and comfort washed over both Adrian and Riley. In that moment, they found solace in each other's embrace, knowing that together they could face whatever challenges lay ahead.
Adrian and Riley kept kissing when they heard Vasilissa's voice and Rose's voice coming up the staircase to the second floor. They quickly broke apart, their hearts pounding with the realization that they were not alone. Adrian and Riley exchanged a nervous glance, silently vowing to protect each other, as they prepared to confront whatever awaited them on the second floor.
Vasilissa called out Adrian, who was standing by the window. Riley's guardian mask slammed into place as she stepped around Adrian and started moving down the hallway, heading to the stairs as she passed right by them.
Rose and Vasilissa realized that Adrian had made Riley move. Rose asked, "What is going on?" Adrian remembered the strigoi outside and said, "Riley is going to make the house go into lock-down." "There are strigoi outside, and strgoi nest across the street." Vasilissa looked surprised to learn about the strigoi outside. Rose realized that her sister was heading for control to house.
She was running to the window when a wave of nausea and cramps let her know that strigoi was nearby. Rose and Vasilissa peered out into the street. "Where?" Rose enquired? Adrian said, "Two up the street, two down the street, next to the corner." Adrian gestured. "If you peer across the street, you realize that the abandoned apartment building with blacked-out curtains is a strigoi nest." Rose saw that the strigoi was far too close as she gazed over at Vasilissa. Vasilissa gasp in surprise to strigoi so close them.
Riley steps up to bookshelf. Riley reached the right corner of the bookcase and placed her thumb on the scanner. Janine and Abe came out of the kitchen to observe Riley standing next to the wall. Abe asked, "Sweet Riley, what are you doing?" Riley said, "Sorry, Baba, you might not be aware that there are Strigoi outside and Nest across the street."
Janine and Abe looked surprised to discover that there was a strigoi outside of the house. Abe watched the picture of the flower move back into the wall and slide behind slid behind the wall. Riley reached for a few buttons and said, "Riley Annie Hathaway." A female voice responds, and they hear it. Riley responded, "Pro-call 5, full lock-down until one hour after dawn."
The room became urgent as the speaker granted Riley's desire. When the shutters began to cover the windows and doors. Janine and Abe quickly realized the severity of the situation as they saw the shutters covering the windows and doors, trapping them inside. The urgency in the room grew as they realized that there was a nest of Strigoi across the street, posing an even greater threat than they initially thought.
Mason, Dimitri, Christian, Eddie, and Mikhail come into the dining room to inquire about what transpired. Janine said, "Well done, Riley!" Each peered at each other, visibly alarmed at the sight of the shutters closing to keep them inside.
Rose started informed them right away that a nest of Strigoi was across the street, and two strigoi were up and down the street. They all recognized they were in danger now, and the weight of the threat weighed heavily in the air. Before anything else could happen, Dimitri, Mikhail, Christian, Eddie, and Mason understood Riley was taking charge. Moving to stand behind his daughter, Abe put his arm around her shoulder and exuded pride in her.
Tatiana asked, "Riley?" Riley turned her head to peer at Tatiana and said, "Everything is alright!" There are strigoi outside, and there is also a strigoi nest across the street in the abandoned apartment building with blacked-out curtains." Dimitri, Eddie and Mason looked surprise that Riley would tell Tatiana the truth.
Riley noticed the time by glancing down at her watch. Riley replied, "I hope you enjoy watching game shows all day, Tatiana." "But now it's time for my show to come on TV." "Now it's time for the Antiques Roadshow." "Mikhail, could you please go make some popcorn?" grinned Tatiana.
Dimitri, Rose, Eddie, Mason, Mikhail, Abe, and Janine appeared taken aback by Tatiana and Riley's current calm demeanor. "Come on, second-house husband, be a deer and go make us some popcorn, please!" Yeva and Mrs. Ozera burst out laughing when they heard Riley refer to Mikhail as her house husband.
Riley took Tatiana's arm and led her back into the living area, ignoring Dimitri, Eddie, Christian, and Mason. All four of them—Christian, Eddie, Dimitri, and Mikhail—kept staring at one another.
"Honey!" I have wonderful news!" Christian exclaimed as he turned around to join them. "What is it?" Riley inquired. "I got tickets for the Winter Wine Festival earlier," stated Christian. "When are we leaving?" inquired Tatiana. Riley, Christian, and Tatiana entered the living room as if nothing had happened. The others exchanged bewildered looks, not knowing how to respond to the abrupt change in the atmosphere.
(Music room)
Abe arrives at the kitchen earlier in the morning to discover that breakfast is already made and coffee has already been brewed in the sitting coffeemaker. Peering over the window, he sees that the shutters are still down. When he heard music coming from the music room, he realized that it was his youngest daughter singing and playing the piano.
Abe walked over the counter, finding his favorite coffee mug sitting on the counter next to the coffee pot. He poured himself a cup of coffee, spun around, and walked towards the music room, where he found his daughter immersed in her own little world, pouring her heart into the melody. As he listens, a proud smile spreads across his face, knowing that her talent is blossoming with each passing day. He quietly enters the room and leans against the door-frame, not wanting to interrupt her. The music fills the air, creating a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere that brings a sense of joy to Abe's heart. While danger lay out side of the house, and around the corners.
As Abe listens to his youngest daughter play and sing the song Christina Aguilera - Reflection. He is amazed by her ability to capture the emotions of the song and deliver it with such passion. The lyrics resonate with him, reminding him of his own journey of self-discovery and growth. Abe can't help but feel grateful for the gift of music and how it has brought his family closer together. He soon realized that his daughter was on a journey of self-discovery herself.
When the song reached its conclusion, Riley looked up to see that the shutter remained down. After taking a breath, she looked at her watch to see what time it was and realized that the clock was ticking. Turn around slowly to see her father standing behind her, his eyes dreamy. Riley smiled and asked, "Baba, is everything alright?" Abe peered down at his daughter and said, "I was just listening to you play." "So what are your plans for today?"
Riley stated, "Dimitri and Mikhail are going to take Mama, and yourself to the airport." "Mama, and you-self will be heading to Russia." "Everyone else and I are going to the Winter Wine Festival."
Abe responded, "Why are you going to the Winter Wine Festival?" According to Riley, "The earthquake is going to happen today in about five hours from now." "Which will give Dimitri and Mikhail about an hour to leave the city before it happens to come and join us at the Winter Wine Festival." "Why do you think there will be an earthquake?" asked Abe. "Did you forget that I had vision in the gym about a week ago?" Riley asked, rolling her eyes.
Tatiana walked behind Abe and said, "Why are you questioning your daughter's ability?" Abe shrugged and replied, "I guess I'm just a bit skeptical." "But if Riley had a vision, maybe we should take it seriously." Tatiana nodded in agreement, adding, "It's better to be safe than sorry." "We can always enjoy the Winter Wine Festival another time."
Abe considered Tatiana's words and finally nodded. "You're right," he said. "Let's cancel our plans and stay home tonight. It's better to trust Riley's intuition and prioritize our safety." With a hint of disappointment, Abe and Tatiana agreed to postpone their visit to the Winter Wine Festival, knowing that it was the wiser choice in light of Riley's vision.
Riley said, "Shut up! Both of you need to come to understand the whole place, which will be under wrobe, and in three days after there will be a hurricane hit, and strigoi in the city will be feeding on the poor souls of this city." "More than 80% of the city was destroyed, and more than 3,000 people lost their lives."
Abe and Tatiana listened in shock as Riley's warning sank in. They realized that trusting Riley's intuition had saved them from a devastating disaster. The gravity of the situation became even more apparent as they learned about the extensive damage and tragic loss of life caused by the hurricane and strigoi attack.
Vasilissa said, "Both of you need to go on faith and believe in Riley's ability before questioning her vision." Vasilissa's words resonated with Abe and Tatiana, reminding them of the importance of trust and faith in Riley's abilities. They understood that questioning her vision would only hinder their ability to navigate the dangerous circumstances they found themselves in. With renewed determination, they vowed to rely on Riley's guidance and protect their city from further devastation.
Riley stood up from the bench, and as Riley passed by, she gave Abe and Tatiana a reassuring smile, her confidence in her own abilities evident. She knew that their trust in her was crucial for their success, and she was determined to prove herself worthy of it. With a sense of unity and purpose, the three of them prepared to face the challenges ahead, ready to protect their city at all costs.
Vaslissa reached for Riley's arm as they walked into the kitchen together. Leaving Abe and Tatiana behind, Vaslissa whispered, "I believe in you, Riley. We're all counting on you to lead us through this." Riley nodded, grateful for Vaslissa's support, and replied, "Thank you, Vaslissa.
(Kitchen)
Vasilissa and Riley walked into the kitchen together to discover Rose and Dimitri kissing next to the counter. Both Riley and Vasilissa looked at each other, smiled, and turned back. They kept watching both couples in their intimate moments. It was a heartwarming sight, as the love between Rose and Dimitri was evident in their gentle embrace. Riley and Vasilissa couldn't help but feel a sense of joy for their friends, knowing that they had found happiness in each other's arms.
As they continued to observe, Riley and Vasilissa couldn't help but reflect on their own romantic relationships. It made them appreciate the importance of finding someone who truly cared for them, just like Rose and Dimitri had found in each other. They realized that true love was a rare and precious thing, and they were determined to hold onto it when they found it. Inspired by Rose and Dimitri's love, Riley and Vasilissa made a silent promise to themselves to never settle for anything less than a deep and genuine connection in their own relationships.
Until Riley said, "It's about time that both of you get together." Riley's comment caught both Rose and Dimitri off guard, making them break apart and look to see Vasilissa and Riley standing in frame. Vasilissa clapped with a smile across her face. Riley's unexpected comment startled Rose and Dimitri, causing them to quickly separate and turn their attention to Vasilissa and Riley. Vasilissa's joyful applause and beaming smile confirmed her support for their relationship.
Riley smiled as she moved forward and said, "Don't worry, I keep a secret." Riley's words hung in the air, leaving Rose and Dimitri curious and slightly confused. They exchanged a puzzled glance before Rose finally spoke up, "What secret are you talking about?" Riley chuckled mischievously, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Well," she began, "let's just say I have a little insider information that might just bring you two even closer together."
"Rose, Adrian, and I are heading to the Winter Wine Festival with Mason, Christian, Tatiana, and Riley. " Vasilissa declared. Dimitri and Rose appeared taken aback by the sudden turn of events. "Is there something going on?" inquired Rose. "Yes," Vasilissa replied.
Dimitri shifted his eyes over Riley to see that she looked pale and was rubbing her gums. Dimitri asked, "Riley, are you alright?" Rose and Vasilissa turn to look at Riley, who falls to her knees and bends over in pain. Vasilissa bent down, reaching over and pulling Riley to her chest. Vasilissa said, "Rose, go and get Yeva." Rose dashed out of the kitchen, passed Tatiana, and Abe headed up the stairs to Yeva's bedroom.
Meanwhile, Dimitri quickly grabbed a glass of water and handed it to Riley, urging her to take small sips. As Riley's pain seemed to intensify, Vasilissa whispered comforting words and gently stroked her back. As Dimitri and Vasilissa watched, Riley started bleeding from her mouth. Vasilissa reached down, pulling Riley's head up and peering inside her mouth to start watching her fangs grow where K9's once were.
Worriedly, Dimitri asked if they should call for medical help, but Vasilissa assured him that Yeva would know what to do. Moments later, Rose returned with Yeva, who immediately assessed Riley's condition and began administering the necessary treatment.
Yeva calmly instructed Dimitri and Vasilissa to continue comforting Riley while she prepared a herbal remedy to help alleviate her pain. With each passing minute, Riley's discomfort seemed to lessen, and Vasilissa couldn't help but feel relieved that Yeva was there to provide the necessary care.
Dimitri asked, "What happened to Riley?' Yeva said, "It's part of Riley transforcing into her true self." Vasilissa said, "Riley's fangs are coming in." Dimitri and Yeva peer at Riley, while Vasilissa holds her to her chest. Yeva said, "The herbal remedy will help alleviate her pain and also keep her calm."
Dimitri and Vasilissa exchanged worried glances as they observed Riley's transformation. Yeva assured them, "It's a natural process for Riley to embrace her true nature, but it can be uncomfortable." Vasilissa nodded, grateful for Yeva's expertise in handling such situations. Yeva said, "But now she needs to rest before our long journey."
Rose asked, "What do you mean by a long journey?" Yeva said, "Roza, you need to understand we will be leaving San Francisco and heading to Napa Valley Lodge for the Winter Wine Festival." "Meanwhile, Dimitri and Mikhail will drive Abe and Janine to the airport." "Soon, after dropping them off at the airport, you must get out of San Francisco before the earthquake hits."
Dimitri understood that Riley and Rosa trusted him with their partners. He assured them that he would do everything in his power to keep them safe and make sure they reached their destination on time. Dimitri knew that the upcoming journey would not be easy, but he was determined to fulfill his duty and protect his friends and new girlfriend.
