(The Hidden Mystery)
Riley is standing in her living area in front of a window, peering down from the fourth floor at the grounds as the sun begins to rise in the morning sky. As the snow started falling from the sky, Riley's mind wandered back to the day three weeks ago when everything changed. The snowflakes drifting lazily past the window served as a stark reminder of the passage of time and the uncertainty of what lay ahead.
Dimitri moved behind Riley, placed his left arm around her waist, and whispered softly, "Pet! I have a gift for you." Riley turned her head, peered up at Dimitri, and gave a small smile. Dimitri noticed Riley's eyes started clouding over, and her eyes turned white. He quickly realized that she was having a vision. He knew that he would have to wait until his pet returned. Before she could tell him what vision was about
After a few minutes, Riley started blinking and started hearing whispering coming from the bookcases. Dimitri asked, "Pet, is everything alright?" Riley heard a whisper coming from the bookshelf as if someone was calling out for her. Riley turned to the right, started moving over to the bookshelf, and started reaching around until she found a hidden button.
Dimitri said, "Pet, what are you doing?" Riley didn't answer and kept moving her hand over the bookshelf. Until she found the hidden button, which made the bookshelf move back and slid behind the bookshelf. Riley peered over at Dimitri and said, "They are calling for me." "I must answer them." Riley turned her head, stepping inside the bookcase, and moved it back to its normal place, leaving Dimitri standing by the window.
Dimitri realized that Riley had to do this for herself. Soon she would return from her adventure behind the bookshelf, stronger and more confident than before. He smiled, knowing that she was capable of facing whatever challenges came her way.
He walked over to sit down on the sofa, reached into his pocket, pulled out his book, started reading, and waited for Pet to return from her adventure. As he flipped through the pages, he couldn't help but feel proud of Riley's bravery and determination. He knew that she would emerge from the secret passage with a newfound sense of self-assurance.
As the hours passed, Dimitri had read half his book when the bookshelf slid back and moved to the side. Dimitri peered up to watch Riley come walking out of the shadow, carrying a wooden box and a gold key on a chain around her neck. Dimitri smiled and said, "It's about time that you return."
Riley said, "Sorry master, but my destiny is calling, and I had to answer it." Dimitri nodded, understanding the weight of Riley's words. He knew that she was destined for great things, and he couldn't be prouder to have played a part in her journey. Dimitri stood up, placing his book back inside his coat as he stood up from the sofa.
The steel door open, Nathan and Galina stepped into Riley's room. Dimitri's head snapped around to see Nathan and Galina enter Riley's room. Galina noticed the gold key on a chain around Riley's neck and the wooden box in her arms as she realized that Dimitri's pet was more than she had peered. Galina's eyes widened in surprise as she took in the scene before her, realizing there was more to Riley's story than she had initially thought.
Nathan said, "It seems like Riley has found something important." Give it to Galina." Riley said, "No!" Nathan said, "What did you say, blood-whore?" Riley said, "No, dumb-ass!" Nathan dashed across the room before Galina or Dimitri could take a step. Riley put her hand up, making Nathan freeze in place, and a second later Nathan flew backward, hitting the wall.
Galina and Dimitri looked surprised to see Nathan was thrown backward like a rag doll. Nathan jumped to his feet and dashed at Riley a second time, only to notice that Nathan froze in place and started screaming as Riley slowly closed her hand. Galina and Dimitri could see the pain across Nathan's face. As they had never seen fear in strigoi eyes, pain ran through him, making Nathan fall to his knees. Riley's eyes glowed with power as she held Nathan in place, causing him to writhe in agony. Galina and Dimitri watched in shock as Riley demonstrated her formidable abilities.
Dimitri moved next to Riley's side and said, "Pet, let him go." Riley peered up at Dimitri and said, Sorry, master, some people need to be taught their place." With a flick of her wrist, Riley released Nathan, who fell to the ground on his hands and knees, as he gasping for air.
Galina and Dimitri peered at Riley, unsure of what Riley was truly capable of. Riley's expression was unreadable as she turned to face Galina and Dimitri, a dangerous glint in her eyes. Galina felt a chill run down her spine, realizing they may have underestimated the extent of Riley's powers.
Galina kicked Nathan in the face, making him fall to the ground and kicking Nathan a second time, which made him slide across the floor to the wall. As Galina moved across the room to come in front of Riley, she said, "You did the right thing in teaching his place." Riley peered at Galina, then turned back and said, "I am hungry," as she peered up at Dimitri, showing her fangs.
Dimitri smiled and leaned down, kissing Riley's forehead, and said, "You had a big day; you have worked up quite an appetite." Galina said, What would you like?" Riley said, "Virgin blood, untapped, and pineapple pizza with ham."
Galina said, "Virgin blood!"
Nathan said, "That would mean Riley is Moroi." "Not a dhampir." Riley said, "I am unclassified." "Maybe I am both." Galina raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Riley's response. Nathan chuckled and said, "You certainly are unique, Riley." Dimitri said, "You can say that." Riley knew Dimitri's command had two meanings. Making Riley smile before her guardian mask snapped back into place.
Riley walked over to the sofa, sat down, and snapped her fingers at Nathan and said, "Hurry up, Nathan." "I am hurry, and don't forget my pineapple pizza with ham." Nathan said, "Fuck you. Blood-whore."
Seconds later, Nathan started screaming again from the pain shooting through his body. Galina and Dimitri peered over to see Nathan once again in full pain. Riley stood in front of him and peered down at him and said, "Now own, you will obey my orders without question." If you step out of line once again, show any sign of defiance, or disrespect me in any way, the consequences will be severe."
Riley stopped letting Nathan take a breath; Nathan nodded in fear and submission, knowing that Riley was not one to be crossed. Dimitri and Galina realized that Nathan had submitted to Riley. Galina moved next to Riley and gave her a smile. Before Galina could say something, Riley turned her head and peered at Galina and said, "Miss Galina would like to have coffee with me later?" Galina said, "I would love it." Riley said, "We meet in the library."
Riley said, "Right now, I need to rest." "While Nathan goes to get me my untapped virgin and pineapple pizza with ham." Galina nodded in agreement, understanding that Riley was the one in control of Nathan. Dimitri could see that Riley was taking over Galina estate as his pet; it would make him boss because Pet was under compulsion by him.
Galina said, "I make sure that Nathan fully understands your request." "Well, you rest for now." Nathan peered up at Galina, who stepped forward, grabbing him by the arm and starting to drag him out of Riley's bedroom.
Dimitri walked over to the sofa and sat down, starting to pat the sofa. Riley walked over and sat down next to her master. Riley said, "I bet you have never seen a strigoi show fear before." Dimitri said, "That was first for me." Riley chuckled, "I guess I still have some surprises left in me." Dimitri nodded, a small smile playing on his lips as he looked at his pet with newfound respect.
Dimitri said, "Galina, see you new way." Riley asked, "Is that a bad thing?" Dimitri said, "No!" "Beside you now, have control over Nathan." Riley said, "That's true; I can keep him in check now," Riley replied with a grin. Dimitri nodded in approval, grateful for the newfound trust between them.
Riley said, "As for Galina, I need her blood to break the seal on the chest." Dimitri asked, "What do you need to open the chest?" Riley said, "First off, I need to finish translating Anna's books." "All the misspelled words together is spell that I will need to break the seal of the chest." Dimitri nodded in understanding, realizing the importance of decoding Anna's books. He replied, "Once we have the translation, we can move forward with breaking the seal on the chest." Riley nodded her head at Dimitri.
Dimitri leaned closer to Riley and said, "Pet, you had a busy day." "I would like you to go into the bedroom and get some rest." "You have work to do later." With translating Anna's books, coffee with Galina, and I need to make sure that Nathan didn't bite your Virgin and get your pineapple pizza with ham."
Riley smiled as she got up from the sofa, reached down, picked up her chest, and started walking to the bedroom. As Dimitri moves to steal door, he knows Riley has everything under control, but he couldn't help but feel the need to double-check for his own peace of mind. Closing the steel door behind him, he made his way down the hallway towards the Galina office.
(Riley's Guest room)
Vasilissa, Rosa, Mason, Christian, and Adrian had returned to Riley's guest room to get Riley's belongings. Adrian walked over, sat down on the sofa, and reached over, picking up Riley's art pad and journal when folded papers fell out of Riley's journal. Adrian reached down, picked them off the floor, and opened them to discover a list of numbers.
The numbers appeared to be random as Adrian tried to understand until Rosa came walking out of Riley's guest bedroom to notice Adrian sitting on the sofa. Rosa asked, "Are you going to help or just sit there, Royle ass?" Adrian smiled and said, "Little dhampier, I found something that I don't understand in Riley's journal."
Rosa walked around the sofa and asked, "What did you find?" Adrian showed Rosa the list of numbers. Rosa reached down, taking the papers and said, The first numbers are telephone numbers for the old man. The second numbers are page numbers." She quickly flipped through the journal, matching the numbers to corresponding pages. Adrian watched in amazement as Rosa deciphered the code hidden within Riley's journal, revealing a hidden message that would change everything.
Adrian couldn't believe how quickly Rosa was able to crack the code; her skills never failed to impress him. As the hidden message was revealed, Adrian realized that Riley's journal held more secrets than he had ever imagined. The implications of the message were profound, leading Adrian to wonder what other mysteries lay within the pages of the journal. With a newfound sense of urgency, Adrian and Rosa knew they had to delve deeper into Riley's past to uncover the truth behind the cryptic messages.
Vaslissa came out of Riley's bedroom to Rosa and Adrian in the living room. She asked, "Rosa, is something wrong?" Adrian said, "It would appear that little sister knows more than we thought." Mason came out of the bedroom and said, "Riley found it!" Rosa, Adrian, and Vaslissa looked at Mason in surprise to discover that Riley had found what she had been seeking in Russia.
Vasilissa asked, "What is it?" Mason said, "A chest and gold key." She needs blood from strigoi, Moroi, and Dampier to break the seal." "From Anna's books, all the misspelled words together is an old spell that Riley needs to open the chest."
Vasilissa gasped in realization. Christian said, "Rose, it is time to call Abe." Rose nodded, understanding the urgency of the situation. She quickly reached into her pocket, getting her cellphone, and dialed her father's number, knowing that he would have the resources needed to help Riley. Christian watched as Rose made the call, his mind racing with the possibilities of what could be inside the chest.
As the phone rang, Rose hoped that Abe would answer quickly and provide the assistance they needed to unlock the secrets hidden within and save Riley. Abe answered the call. Rose said, "Old man." Abe said, What is a kid?"
Rosa said, "After we left San Francisco because of the earthquake." "We came to Storybook Mountain Winery, and soon after, strigoi attacked the winery." "All guardians had to fight in battle to protect the winery." "Dimitri was turned into strigoi and took Riley with him, and they are both in Galina's estate in Russia." Abe listened intently, absorbing the information quickly. He knew they needed to act fast to rescue their youngest daughter.
Abe said, "Soon Janine and I will arrive at Storybook Mountain Winery to move everyone to a safe location." "We will need to come up with a plan to rescue Riley and defeat the strigoi at Galina's estate." Janine's voice came from the background and said, "Honey, something happened to Riley." Abe's voice was firm and determined as he prepared for the upcoming mission. Rose could hear Janine's voice in the background and could tell that she was pissed."
Rosa said, "Mason stated that Riley found what she was looking for at Galina's estate." Abe asked, "What was so important that Riley risked her life to go there?" Rosa said, "It was a chest and gold key." Abe said, "Soon Janine and I will arrive." "Make sure everyone is ready to leave as soon as we arrive."
Rosa stated, "We'll be ready and waiting on your arrival." Vaslissa, Christian, Mason, and Adrian realized Abe and Janine would arrive soon, and they were going to want everything. Rosa hung up and said, "The old man pissed." Mason said, "For good reason. Christian agreed with Mason. Rosa knew they had to move quickly to gather everything before Abe and Janine arrived.
Mason added, "We need to make sure nothing is left behind." Christian, go get Granny and get her ready to leave." Christian nodded and quickly went to help Granny get ready to leave. Meanwhile, Vaslissa, Rosa, and Adrian began gathering all the necessary items to ensure nothing was left behind when Abe and Janine arrived."
Vasilissa understood that Mason took control of the situation, so she followed his lead and began organizing the items efficiently. Vaslissa and Rosa made sure to double-check every room to ensure nothing important was overlooked. While Adrian started reading Riley's journal. Trying to understand why choose these pages. They all knew that time was of the essence, and they needed to act fast before Abe and Janine's arrival.
When Mason heard Riley thought that the journal held clues to a hidden location where she would meet him next few weeks in order to escape from Galina's estate. Mason moved forward and grabbed Riley's art pad and journal from Adrian. Adrian asked Mason, I was reading Riley's journal."
Mason said, "I can hear Riley's thoughts, and she is going to sleep, and she wants to have a spirit dream with her." Adrian knew that he need to speak to his love about what happening.
