Chapter 1: Emergency
It had been a few months since the Ninja had defeated the Oni, and they were happy to have some down time. One day at the monastery, Cole had just finished training, and looked around for something to do.
He went outside, and saw Nya and Jay.
"Hey, guys. Up for some sparring?" he asked them.
"Sorry Cole, but we can't. We're getting ready to go to our dance class." Nya told him.
"It's something we do to be closer." Jay replied.
"Oh, that's okay. Maybe when you get back." Cole replied.
And with that, they left the monastery. Cole went back inside, and decided to see what Zane was up to. He found him in the hanger bay along with Pixal.
"Hey guys, need any help?"
"Oh hi Cole. Pixal and I are just tuning up the vehicles." Zane explained.
"Would you like to help out?" Pixal offered.
"Sure."
And the three started to work on the vehicles. But Cole didn't stay long as Zane and Pixal started to just gaze at each other lovingly. Feeling uncomfortable, Cole quietly slipped away.
He decided to see what Kai was up to. Maybe he would want to play video games. He went into the TV area, and saw him playing a video game and wearing a headset.
"They're on your left, be careful." he said.
"Hey Kai, whatcha doing?" he asked.
"Oh, hey Cole. Skylor and I are playing Prime Empire." Kai explained.
"Skylor? But she's not here."
"We're playing each other by headset while she's at her house."
"Kai you still there?" Skylor asked over the sets.
"Yeah, babe." Kai answered.
Cole just sighed quietly. It was obvious that Kai was too busy with Skylor to hang out. Cole left quietly, and walked outside again. When he did, he heard a knock at the door. He opened it, and saw Princess Harumi.
"Oh, hi Harumi." Cole greeted.
"What are you doing here?"
"Hi Cole. I came to see Lloyd. He's giving me a private sparring lesson." Harumi explained.
Ever since the whole scenario with the Sons of Garmadon, Harumi's parents decided to allow her to take fighting lessons from the Ninja and Master Wu. Lloyd had heard Harumi's voice he went out to greet her.
"Hi, Rumi." he said.
"Hi, Lloyd. I'm ready to get started." she replied.
And the two went to do their lesson, leaving Cole alone again. He sighed glumly, and decided to get something to eat.
In the kitchen, he was making himself a sandwich when Master Wu walked in.
"Hello, Cole." he greeted.
"Hi, Master Wu."
"Is something wrong? You seem down." Cole sighed, and answered.
"Everyone on the team has someone special. Except me. I mean I never really thought about romance before but now..."
Wu gently placed his hand on Cole's shoulder.
"Do not worry, Cole. Your love is out there somewhere, and you may find her in the most unexpected of circumstances." he advised.
Cole smiled a little.
"Thanks, Master Wu."
And then he started eating his sandwich.
Meanwhile, far away from Ninjago City in an abandoned village a plot was forming. A man in a white outfit scurried down the road, carrying a large sack over his shoulder. He stopped in front of a building, made sure no one looking, and then knocked on the door.
A small opening in the door, and an eye looked out. Then the little opening closed, and the door opened to reveal a man wearing a similar white outfit.
"I got the stuff you asked for Dr. Maul." he informed.
"Good, let's join the others." Dr. Maul replied.
The two went further into the building, and then came to a door. Dr. Maul opened it, and walked into a clandestine lab. There were many other men and women in white clothes working with test tubes, microscopes, and different substances.
"I'm back with the supplies everyone." he announced.
Everyone gathered around him, and began taking things out of the sack. The items included other medical/science equipment.
"Good work. Dr. Rogers will be pleased." Dr. Maul told him.
"Thank you."
He then went to work with the others. As they did, a woman came in.
"What's up, Nurse Payne?" asked Dr. Maul.
"Everyone, Dr. Rogers is on his way."
Everyone quickly got up, and stood at attention. Then a man came into the room.
"How's progress going?" he asked.
"Things are going well, Doctor." replied Nurse Payne.
"Good. I want to get this project finished."
"We're almost done sir. But we're running low on blood samples." informed a woman.
"Then I guess you'll have to go out and get more." Dr. Rogers told.
"You heard him, people. We're going out." declared Dr. Maul.
He and Nurse Payne gathered some workers, and they left the building.
Back at the monastery, the others were finished with their business, and Jay and Nya had returned from their dance lesson. They all decided to train together, with Master Wu supervising. Their training was going well, when an alarm went off.
"Uh oh." said Kai.
"That's a new alarm." Harumi mentioned.
"We had it put in recently." Lloyd told her.
Everyone hurried to the hanger bay, to see what the trouble was and where it was.
"It looks like the trouble is in Jamanikai Village." observed Pixal.
"What's going on?" asked Kai.
"It appears the citizens are being attacked by people wearing white clothes."
"(Sighs), sounds like this is going to be a weird one." Nya replied.
"Weird or not. We gotta help the people." Lloyd declared.
He, Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, and Nya pulled on their hoods, mounted the Destiny's Bounty and took to the skies.
In the village the doctors and nurses were running around, grabbing people, and taking their blood.
"Now you hold still. And this won't hurt a bit." urged Dr. Maul, as two nurses held down a man.
He brought out a syringe, and then stuck it in his arm. Then man cried out in pain, as he got his blood forcibly drawn.
"Now that wasn't so bad was it?"
Nurse Payne and some others were cornering some other people getting ready to take their blood. But before she could inject the needle, the sound of the Destiny's Bounty landing filled the air.
"The Ninja?" Nurse Payne gasped.
They dropped the anchor, and the Ninja sprang into action. They began attacking the doctors and nurses and defending the people.
"I thought you doctors didn't make house calls anymore." Nya told Nurse Payne as they started fighting.
"Hey, sometimes we need to come to you." Nurse Payne replied, as she threw a punch at her.
The doctors and nurses continued to battle the Ninja and collect blood samples.
"Dr. Maul, I think we've collected enough samples." informed another doctor.
"Then I say we make a hasty retreat."
He gave a signal to Nurse Payne and she and the other nurses pulled out some round smoke bombs. They threw them to the ground and quickly pulled up their masks. Gas came from the bombs, and it wasn't just any gas it made everyone feel tired and numb.
In the midst of it all, the doctors and nurses made their escape. After the people and Ninja came to their senses they tried to figure out what happened.
"Can you tell us what was going on?" Zane asked a citizen.
"Those quacks came out of nowhere and started poking us with needles and taking our blood." someone explained.
"That's weird. Why would people want to steal blood?" Lloyd questioned.
"And those guys didn't look like vampires to me." Jay piped up.
"Unless they were vampires doctors and nurses."
"Highly unlikely, Jay." Kai told him.
"We've gotta find those guys but how?" wondered Nya.
Cole looked around, and then spotted something on the ground.
"Hey guys."
He called the rest of the Ninja over, and he showed them a white business card.
"Looks like they left us a calling card. Literally." observed Zane.
"It says, "To be part of the greatest Ninjago takeover, come to Rubble Grove. And make an appointment with the Plague Doctor."
"The Plague Doctor?" asked Kai.
"If that doesn't scream "bad guy", I don't know what does." Cole replied.
"Well we're going Rubble Grove." declared Lloyd.
