Brief History:
Born in Vale as the youngest of 8 children and the only boy, little is truly known about Jaune's upbringing on the peaceful island of Vale in the West Blue. It is known that his is related to a pre-Rocks era pirate though how many generations back that ancestor was is not clear. Since then, however, his family appears to have not been in the piracy business until his appearance on the scene as part of the Rose Pirates. It is also unknown how he came by his medical training but records from Vale confirm that he is a qualified doctor.
What is known, though, is that at some point in the last few years he left his home on Vale and set sail for the Grand Line. While his reasons for leaving his home are unknown, it is theorized that he was heading to Argos, an island in the New World where one of his sisters has been confirmed to be living, but he didn't make it there. Instead, and based off interrogation of the Cardinal Pirates after their capture, he ended up crossing paths with them and almost being killed by their Captain before he was saved by a bronze clad female warrior with red hair.
While some speculate that this could have been Scarlet Erza of the Fairy Tail Pirates, the timing of the meeting was during the period when the Fairy Queen was known to be in the West Blue on the island of Magnolia. Subsequent conflicts involving the Rose Pirates have confirmed that the woman who saved Jaune was a famous fighting champion from Argos called Nikos Pyrrha.
Why Pyrrha was on an unnamed island in Paradise at the time, why she saved Jaune, and why she stuck with him afterwards are all currently unknown but she did and from there the pair forged a strong bond. This is clear in Jaune's fighting style as it is indicative of Pyrrha's own only tailored to his sword specific fighting and physical abilities. It is acknowledged that he's become an above average swordsman thanks to Pyrrha's training.
This was clear to the Navy when they ran into trouble with the Torchwick Pirates during their travels and incapacitate several of the former Warlord's men before escaping the Warlord and a Navy detachment on the island in question. This was accomplished with the aid of the Rose Pirates who'd recently arrived in the Grand Line and were passing through the same area as the pair.
The Rose Pirate's intervention only added to Torchwick Roman's hatred for Rose Ruby and the war that ultimately ended with his defeat at her hands and the stripping of his status, along with confirmation that the Red Reaper possesses Conqueror's Haki, but at the time it's believed that the Rose Pirates didn't realize that they'd gotten in Roman's way again at the time. They were just helping some people out of a spot of trouble that they'd ended up in and in the process befriending them.
From this it is believed that Rose Ruby asked the pair to join her crew, a good assumption as she was known to not have a doctor at the time while also needing more muscle to help with her inadvertent conflict with Torchwick Roman, and they did just that with Jaune becoming the crew's doctor. This can't be confirmed but as the pair were present and clearly members of the Rose Pirates during the final confrontation on Beacon it's highly likely.
During that confrontation where the Navy confirmed their membership in the Rose Pirates, along with that of two other new crewmembers hitherto unknown about, Jaune was recorded to have fought against several of Torchwick's men but no higher up members of his crew like Xiao Long Yang, Schnee Weiss, and Nikos Pyrrha were confirmed to have done. This is probably due to his crewmates being stronger than him, and almost all of them possessing Devil Fruits, though the fact that as the crew's doctor he had to remain somewhat safe during the incident can't be ruled out.
What is known, though, is that he was pictured vomiting during the fight and not achieving much more than backing up the powerhouses on his crew. As such, that picture was used on his wanted poster along with the epithet Vomit Boy and was a 14 million berry bounty though his bounty is mainly due to being a Rose Pirate and not his skills.
This bounty has not increased since then and while Rose Ruby and three others were recorded on Sabaody during the chaos that Straw Hat Luffy caused by striking Saint Charloss, Jaune wasn't present which means that he was likely on their ship. Regardless, he is still a pirate and valuable member of an up and coming rookie crew so caution should be used in apprehending him.
