Pokémon THE Revamped Timeline: Kanto origins!

(While the Lyrics sing part of the Pokémon them, we see the title again, but with different Pokéballs appearing behind it, like a Love Ball, a Great Ball, an Ultra Ball, and a Master Ball.)

After Ash and friends stopped Kodai from getting Zoroark and Zorua, they had gone to Cerulean City for Ash to earn his Cascade Badge, but when they got there, they learned that Misty's Cousin Kasumi had taken over duties of Gym Leader.

After a hard warmup fight, Ash delivered his promise of using the Battle Bond to Misty as she Mega Evolved her Gyarados …

At the cost of her Gym Ceiling.

Now, if only one of them, ANY of them could use a map as Ash has gotten them lost.

AGAIN.

"That's the way, Lucario! Keep combining Quick Attack and Agility till you reach Pikachu's speed! Greninja, stay in that meditative state until your mind is clear! Odin, Keep attacking Greninja until either you're tuckered out or you're able to knock Greninja out of his trance!

Zorua, work with Butterfree to get some more aerial attacks." Ash called out to his current team, as they began trying to get stronger. After what happened to Lucario when he fought Gyrara, he wanted to make sure that he didn't get so winded when making the move.

Meanwhile, to help out Greninja with the fiasco that happened with their Battle Bond, Odin was helping to make sure that Greninja was staying focused on the aura.

Zorua, being the youngest, was working with Butterfree in general to improve his attacks. Specifically attacks that took care of aerial targets given his short stature.

Meanwhile, Misty was with her Pokémon and making sure that Gyarados was able to fly since it was part Flying type.

Starmie was helping Chinchou work on its electrical moves so that it could partially heal itself with Volt Absorb.

Staryu and Cloyster were working with Misty as the obstacles for Gyarados to dodge and be targets.

Brock and his team were busy getting breakfast ready, while Serena was behind him taking notes, and her current team consisting of Braixen, Sylveon, Zoroark, Clefairy, and Freya doing routines.

Fearow had taken her Town Map and went off somewhere with it.

As long as he came back, she was OK with it.

"Now remember, Serena. When cooking on the road, it's important to know your Pokémon's preferred taste.

Sylveon for example, prefers sweet objects, but not completely pure sugar. Mix a bit of a Razz Berry to help offset how sweet they are.

Fearow, given his hot-headed personality, probably prefers things to be a bit spicy, but don't put a miniature flamethrower in it." He told her as he got the grill to a nice temperature, and then put the fish on.

Serena took all the advice she could, given how she was good at making PokéPuffs and sweets, but not as good as Clement or Brock when it came to meals.

Especially when it came to meals specifically for Pokémon.

"Hey, Dexter. Is there any risk of us missing my old friends?" Ash brought out his Pokédex to make sure that they weren't falling behind.

"NEGATIVE. YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH AND THE RIGHT TIME FRAME TO MEET THEM." Ash nodded and then started looking around.

"Is there another friend waiting to be found?" Serena asked as he seemed to be keeping one eye closed while scanning around.

"Just trying to see if he was around here. I managed to find an Everstone before we left the hospital so I can make sure he doesn't evolve. At least when I remind him." Serena was surprised.

She was about to ask when Brock handed her a pot.

"Apologies, Serena. But could you please go and find some clean water so that I can make some rice?" Serena nodded, then headed off in a direction where it sounded like water was flowing.

Serena had remembered when she saw a rock that had water flowing over it.

She then heard water as she ran for the area.

She stopped short in the bushes …

When she saw an Oddish drinking from it.

Slowly making her way from the bushes, she made sure not to get in its way, assuming it was from around the area.

The Oddish saw her and at first got ready to flee.

But stopped when it saw Serena just get water. Then Serena noticed it was staring at her.

"Sorry. Just needed to get some clean water." She told it, as the pan finished filling and she started heading back to the group.

Oddish looked back in the direction then started running after Serena.

"Sorry if I was delayed! An Oddish was drinking from the spot I found for water!" Serena called as she handed Brock the bucket.

"Excellent! This will do nicely for the rice!" Brock said as he poured what rice he had into the pan. Soon, the aroma began to waft through the air, especially when Fearow came back and handed Serena her Town Map back.

While Fearow went over to Brock to get some Razz Berries, Serena quickly checked her Map for what Fearow had been doing.

And she found a lot of videos about PokéSentai in her MewTube account.

Serena chuckled as she showed Ash the videos.

He chuckled at seeing how it was "How to do Kiramager end dance" or the like.

"I think he'd get along with my Squirtle. He's a fan of PokéRiders." Serena giggled at that as Brock began serving lunch.

Serena had gotten her portion …

When she saw the Oddish from before staring at her and the food.

"Hungry?" She asked as she then put some rice and Poffins in a bowl and put it at the halfway point between the group and Oddish.

Oddish stared at her, then at the food.

Then with a happy chirp, started eating.

Ash laughed at the sight, then stopped as his head turned towards some bushes.

He then smirked as he then made another bowl and a travel case.

"And your friend Bulbasaur is also welcome as well." Serena looked in shock in the direction that Ash was looking …

As, indeed, a Bulbasaur slunk out of the bushes, and it didn't look too happy to be found out.

"When we're done, would you mind taking us to Melanie? I have some things I need to talk to her about." Bulbasaur then shot a distrusting glare, but shrugged as he inspected the food and determined it to not be spiked.

"Ash, did you have to reveal we knew about Melanie here?" Brock asked, worried Bulbasaur would trick them somehow.

"Normally, I would, but we got Pidgeot, Butterfree, Pikachu and Lucario here with us. They have been around him the most besides me, so we would know if something is up." He whispered back.

Oddish had just finished her meal, as Bulbasaur finished his and grabbed the bag of food Brock had prepared.

"C'mon, let's get out of here." He whispered to Oddish.

"But Bulbasaur, not one of them has made an attempt to catch us." She pointed out, as Bulbasaur tried to usher her away.

"They somehow know us despite us never meeting. I can't take the chance that – "

"That they may be Team Rocket grunts?" Whirling around, Bulbasaur saw a Pikachu, Pidgeot and Butterfree right behind them.

"How'd you know I was coming over here?" The Pikachu smirked as he then held out a Pokédex and showed Bulbasaur something.

Bulbasaur looked at the picture and then back at Pikachu.

"What is this? Some kind of joke or trick?"

The picture was of the kid that he saw behind them, with him off to the right side, a Squirtle to the left, a Pidgeotto past the Squirtle, the Pikachu in front of him on the kid's shoulder, and a massive Charizard behind them.

Then Pikachu swiped the picture, and showed the same Bulbasaur wrapping his vines around a Butterfree who was flying.

The same one in front of him right now.

Each picture, he saw HIS details. A splotches underneath the front of his bulb, the slight discoloration on his right.

Did he know this kid?

"These are pictures of you from the future. You joined us after he beat you in a battle YOU requested after Melanie tried to give you to Ash." Bulbasaur looked contemplative, but didn't completely budge.

"If that's so, why am I still a Bulbasaur!? Shouldn't I have evolved into at least an Ivysaur by then?" Pikachu then held a smile.

"YOU chose not to evolve on your own accord. A Venasaur tried to force you to evolve, but you instead learned Solar Beam without evolving. Even so, when others tried to say you had to evolve to get stronger, you proved then all wrong by beating fully evolved Pokémon as a Bulbasaur. Ash never forced you to do anything."

Bulbasaur stood with a shocked expression, then looked back at Ash thoughtfully.

"From the evidence, it seems I did do all these things you're saying I did. However, I want to talk with Melanie before I make any decisions." Pikachu smiled as Ash was now right behind him.

"Absolutely, Bulbasaur. That's why I asked if you could take us to her. We won't capture any Pokémon while we are there." Bulbasaur looked him in the eyes and then saw them glowing.

Now, he was born in Kanto, but he had heard legends of Aura before.

Deciding to trust this kid, he motioned with his vines for everyone to follow him.

After about a half hour walk, Ash and his friends saw a cozy little cabin in the woods.

Ash immediately recognized the area as that of Melanie's.

Given how there were now a bunch of Pokémon with stitches or in the waterhole there.

"My, I wasn't expecting Bulbasaur to be bringing guests ever." Looking to his left, Ash saw a blue haired girl walking towards them.

Ash, Misty, and Brock smiled, remembering how they used some of her techniques in the field after they met her.

"We met him in the forest after Oddish ran after Serena here, Ma'am. Plus, I'm an Aura adept, so his Aura stood out to me." Melanie looked at Bulbasaur, who nodded.

"Wow haven't met any Aura users before. Still, that should mean your trustworthy." She said as the other Pokémon stopped being scared as the humans approached.

Everyone began to help with the injured Pokémon, which thankfully went a lot smoother thanks to their future knowledge.

Ash had just helped splint Weepinbell's right grass blade when Bulbasaur came up with Melanie.

"Ash, Bulbasaur says that you apparently caught him here. Do you want to take him?" Ash noticed how fast this was and chose the route that he wanted.

"I did, but it's up to him. I do have pictures if you want proof of how strong he became though." With that, he pulled out Dexter.

"Dexter, please pull up … jeez, I need to organize these a lot better. Ah, here we are." And then showed Melanie the same photos Pikachu, Pidgeot and Butterfree showed Bulbasaur earlier.

"That being said, if he does want to fight or come with me, I am going to have to ask him something." Bulbasaur looked confused along with Melanie.

"What's that?"

"Does he want his memories back first, or would he prefer to take on my Pokémon the way he is?" With that, Ash pulled out the Everstone he found earlier.

"Regardless, if you want to stay as a Bulbasaur like you did in the original timeline, grab the Everstone before you take my hand." With that, he held out the Everstone in his left hand and had his right hand a bit farther back as he leaned down to Bulbasaur.

Bulbasaur looked at the two hands, then wrapped his right vine around the Everstone as his left vine then took Ash's right hand.

Then Bulbasaur recoiled and almost took the Everstone right out of Ash's hand.

Suddenly, his bulb began to gather energy. Ash was afraid Bulbasaur wasn't going to get his wish when he then shot off a massive beam into the sky, causing the other Pokémon to recoil in surprise.

"BULBASAUR!? WHEN DID YOU LEARN SOLAR BEAM!?" Melanie shouted as it was quite loud being at the epicenter.

When the beam subsided, the vine holding the Everstone lifted it up and put it in the bulb.

Bulbasaur then had a smile as he looked at Ash.

"Guess I should have expected this. While the Everstone did help in preventing the evolution, there was some sneaky energy trying to disguise itself. That's why I used Solar Beam. To keep the energy from becoming too much for the Everstone to stop." Ash smiled and then motioned for Greninja to come over.

He then held his right thumb pointing towards Greninja, and his left hand held a Pokéball.

"You're choice."

Bulbasaur looked between Greninja and the Pokéball, then tapped the Pokéball, putting up no struggle.

Ash actually let out a sigh of relief.

"I don't want to risk this area if he wants to test himself out, so I am VERY glad he chose the Pokéball." Melanie nodded, then Ash released Bulbasaur, who looked very happy.

"Thanks. Want to enjoy as much as I can here before I have to say goodbye again."

Serena had just finished pouring water over a Staryu, who had some bad cracks over its body, while Misty's Starmie and Staryu helped repair the cracks.

She looked around and saw that she was done first.

"Hey, Melanie? Anything else I can help with?" Melanie looked around and shook her head.

"Nope, thank you for the help, though! Some of these Pokémon are on their way to recovery. Anything I can do to help you with your training?" Serena then looked at her current Pokémon, who looked excited.

"One, is there a good clearing nearby for us to practice, and two, is it ok if I change really quick in your cabin?" Melanie quickly pointed in a direction behind her cabin.

"There's a clearing about 30 feet behind my home. Just … thank you for not training to take on the gyms around here." She said, before she realized Serena was not there anymore, hearing her door open.

Melanie and Oddish were confused when Serena came out in her Showcase Outfit.

"Oh, I'm not training for Gyms. I'm from Kalos, we have Performances. You don't need to be a powerful fighter!" With that, she took Braixen, Sylveon, Zoroark, Fearow, Freya, and Rattata to the field.

Oddish overheard, and after making sure Bulbasaur or anyone else didn't notice, ran after Serena.

(PLAY SERENA'S PERFORMANCE MUSIC HERE)

"OK, Braixen! Start swirling the Fire Spin around Zoroark! Zoroark, start trying to mix your Dark Pulse with it!" Serena said, as her Town Map began to play music that she heard during her time in Kalos.

Braixen started by slowly dancing, while spinning her stick around, causing fire to begin forming around in a tornado around Zoroark, before tossing her stick to Zoroark, who then began spinning in the opposite direction, with dark energy coming out of the opposite end of the stick, making it seem like two tornados were happening.

"Freya, use Ice Beam after Sylveon hoists you and her up with Fairy Wind! Combine the Fairy Wind with Spikes!"

Sylveon then began doing the Counter Shield technique Pikachu taught her as Freya then spun around with her as tiny Spikes began to get caught in the wind, looking like glitter balls. When they got halfway up the tornado of fire and darkness, Freya used Double kick to launch off Sylveon's back feet and started spinning in the direction of the Dark Pulse.

Then, she fired Ice Beam, with the Spikes turning into orbs that reflected the light, almost looking like a star pattern in a night sky when seen in the Dark Pulse areas.

"Rattata! Use Quick attack to pick up the pace! Fearow, I need a lift!" Serena shouted as Rattata began running around the outside of the double tornado, his running making the fire half start closing in on the dark until they melted into one.

Fearow, after fancifully spinning on his axis, flew low as Serena jumped onto his back, landing gently to his surprise without knocking him off course as he then pulled up sharply.

"Braixen! Help Sylveon get up to my height!" Braixen then grabbed Sylveon's paw and spun around, tossing her halfway up the tornado.

Then, doing the arial version of the Counter Shield Pikachu described a Chimchar using once, Sylveon spun her way up to Serena who, in an acrobatic arial move, leaped off Fearow who blew air around them to right them as they spun down to earth.

"Zoroark! Use Extrasensory with the Tornado!" Holding the branch like a Bo staff, Zoroark channeled silver energy into the staff, as both ends then took control of the now merged tornado, moving the top mouth to where it seemed to become one with Serena's skirt, as Sylveon continued to use Fairy Wind to help with controlling the Dark Energy half.

As the two got closer to the ground, Braixen then used Attract as pink hearts began flying up to Serena and Sylveon, which were then turned into sparkles as Rattata then smacked each one with Scratch.

Fearow then played his part as his wings spread the sparkles everywhere, even through the hole in the top to reach Zoroark.

Braixen then used her own Extrasensory to make the sparkles take on the appearance of ball dresses and tuxedos, as well as elongating Serena's dress as she then landed with her arms in one of her signature poses while Braixen and Zoroark held Braixen's branch like two sisters, Rattata and Fearow making a bowing motion next to their trainer, and Sylveon and Freya doing a double wink in front of Serena.

"FINIE!" She screamed in Kalosian as the music stopped.

Oddish had seen the whole thing and couldn't exactly remember that she was trying to hide.

She walked forward as Serena was congratulating her friends.

"We'll make sure that our Performances in the future are as good as that one!" All the ones out cheered, while Fearow just gave a nod.

"So, what did you think?" She asked …

Turning to Oddish.

Oddish immediately jumped, thinking it had been stealthy.

"Oh, we knew you were there the entire time. Me, Braixen, and Sylveon are used to this." Oddish gaped a bit, then looked nervous.

"So, what did you think?" Oddish then began to make various motions.

"She says that she couldn't believe how beautiful the performance was or was expecting such powerful moves to be so pretty." Serena and Oddish suddenly turned around and saw Misty, Brock, Melanie and the other Pokémon standing there.

"Speaking personally, that was a beautiful performance! How long did it take you to master that?" Serena smiled as she patted Oddish on the head.

"That was our first time trying to do it outside our heads. We practiced the moves first then we tried putting it all together. Still needs work." Her Pokémon nodded, as the Spike balls melted too fast.

Serena stood up, ready to head back, when she realized a certain someone was missing.

"Hey, where's Ash?" At the question, everyone took on a very smug smirk.

Getting annoyed, she and Sylveon rubbed their heads, then she, Sylveon, and Braixen put their hands or the equivalent on their hips.

"Seriously, where did he go and if he's – "

Serena didn't finish as she then felt something tickling her armpits, while Sylveon felt something getting the area around her neck where the ribbons came out.

And Braixen?

She got pulled up into a tree after something began tickling her under the armpits.

All three began laughing and trying to do whatever they could to stop the onslaught, only to end up on the ground or, in Braixen's case, the branch of a tree.

"DAMMIT, ASH! STOPA I – BAHAHAHA! I SAID STOP! DESI -" Again, Serena didn't get a chance to finish as Ash picked the tickle attack up.

Brock, Misty, and Melanie just laughed at the couples, as Sylveon tried to Dig away from Pikachu, but he had wrapped one of her ribbons around him, while Braixen was having a hard time escaping Greninja's tongue.

"Aren't you going to do anything?" Oddish asked the three others who were just watching.

"Serena let her guard down. She needs to know how this feels so that she doesn't get taken by surprise again." Fearow stated as Zoroark nodded her head. Rattata just shrugged, knowing it will be over soon.

"What about you, Bulbasaur?" Bulbasaur shrugged his vines.

"Honestly, it's kind of refreshing seeing my trainer act like this. He never acted like this during my time with him, and I'm glad he's found someone." Oddish then shook her head.

"Well, if no one else is doing something, THEN I WILL!" She shouted as she sent a puff of Stun Spore in Ash's direction.

She then whipped her head around and sent a leaf at Pikachu, who had to roll out of the way.

Unfortunately, that also caused him to unwrap the ribbon he had, allowing Sylveon to finally Dig.

The leaf then boomeranged into the tree Braixen was pulled into and hit Greninja's tongue.

Letting go in pain, Braixen let herself fall backwards as she finally caught her breath and turned the fall into an aerial performance, landing safely.

Before using her stick to burn the branch at a critical spot behind Greninja, causing it to break under his weight.

Pikachu then got pinned underneath dirt as Sylveon exploded behind him, spinning him around to where she could see his face.

Serena managed to get out of Ash's grasp as she then pinned him to the ground.

"ALL RIGHT YOU! TIME FOR SOME PAYBACK!" Serena yelled, expecting Ash to be scared.

Ash was just smirking.

"OH, still finding this funny, eh? Well, we'll see if you're still laughing when we -!" Serena didn't get to finish.

Because of Ash kissing her.

Sylveon got pulled in by Pikachu freeing his arms and grabbing her around the neck with a hug.

Braixen?

Greninja had shot his tongue off in a direction, which caused Braixen to recoil, thinking he was trying to get it behind her.

He stretched it so thin that he was able to partially close his mouth …

And then pulled Braixen in for a makeshift kiss.

"Sheesh. They really should have taken it in the cabin for some – you ok, Bulbasaur?" Oddish asked, having noticed Bulbasaur was stiff all of a sudden.

Then she waved one of her grass blades in front of his face.

When that didn't get any attention, she poked him in the cheek.

He fell on his side.

(Ironically in the same position Pikachu had put him in when he shocked him in the last timeline.)

When Oddish looked at the other humans, she saw Melanie waving a hand in front before they too fell to the poke.

Finally, the three parted lips from their respective girls, who were blushing like crazy.

Then they readopted an angered look.

"YOU DID ALL THAT TO STEAL A KISS FROM US!?" The three shouted as everyone, even the ones on the floor from being poked began laughing.

"Well, no one stopped us. Plus, those four didn't try to stop us." Serena and her two best friends glared at Freya, Zoroark, Rattata and Fearow, who just smirked at the scene.

"OH yeah, THANKS FOR THE HELP!" Sylveon shouted.

"No problem. Always happy to help a friend get her boy." Rattata cheerily said as Sylveon dug Pikachu out of the ground.

"Did you all know they were there!?" Braixen demanded as she suddenly realized they should have seen them.

"Entire time. Just seemed to be too good a chance to see you guys like that." Fearow replied as Zoroark was giggling.

"Be thankful Odin was not out, Freya. Otherwise, you would be tickled as well." Serena said to the Poison Mouse Pokémon.

"Jokes on you. She isn't ticklish." Rattata replied, with Ash serving as the translator.

"And honestly, I scare him more than enough. So, no need." Freya replied as Serena groaned.

She got off Ash, as he then revealed her backpack.

"Also, I think this little one has something to say." He said, motioning towards Oddish.

Oddish nervously walked up to Serena.

"I want to join you. After seeing how I won't have to be trained for gyms, I want to see if I can bring out the inner beauty of a Gloom." Ash translated through Bulbasaur. Serena then smiled.

"If you want to join, of course! But why stop at Gloom?" Oddish then looked nervous.

"Because I don't want to be a Vileplum, and I think a Gloom is better for dancing." Serena then brought out Eve as she seemed to be searching for something.

"What about this?"

Serena showed Oddish a small Pokémon with green skin, two flowers on its head like hairpieces, and a dress made of grass.

"What's that?"

"That is a Bellossom. It's one of your potential evolutions from Gloom." Eve answered, surprising both Ash and Serena.

"In addition, all you need is a Sun Stone to evolve into this. And Bellossom are known to be some of the best dancers in the world." Oddish stared in amazement.

Her line had a branch evolution!?

Where could they get a Sun Stone.

"I'm afraid Sun Stones are quite rare in Kanto, Oddish. So, after you evolve, until we can GET a Sun Stone, be careful of Leaf Stones. Once you become a Vileplum, there is no going back." Oddish nodded, then looked expectantly at Serena.

She held out a regular Pokéball and Oddish went in.

"Hey, you actually get to keep a friend from here, Bulbasaur!" Ash told his old friend excitedly.

"If she needs help with certain moves, I'm available. If we get there earlier than we did last time, I might try talking to the previous Venasaur from the mysterious garden." Ash then looked at him confused.

"Wait. There was a Venasaur before the one we met?"

"Apparently, this Venasaur used to belong to a Champion before he became the leader of the Saurs in the Mysterious Garden. He had left shortly before I got dragged there." Ash nodded in understanding.

"We'll try and make it happen. Shouldn't be too difficult since I do plan on skipping certain things like the Ghost at Maiden's Peak." Brock shuddered remembering that incident.

With that, everyone waved goodbye as they got back on the road.

It had been about a day afterwards as they found themselves battling a storm.

"Jeez. We picked one heck of a time to continue walking." Serena groaned out, with Fearow doing his best to cover her, despite shivering out of fear of the storm.

"Yeah, guess I lost track of time. But hopefully it will be worth it when I reunite with -" Ash suddenly cut himself off, with his eyes growing wide.

Pulling out Dexter, he looked to be having a minor heart attack.

"DEXTER! HOW FAR BEHIND ARE WE!?"

"ABOUT 1 DAY BEHIND, BUT IF WE DON'T MOVE IT, HE WILL BE A GONNER." With that, Ash summoned Pidgeot.

"PIDGEOT! GER IN THE AIR AND MOVE WEST FAST! WE GOR A LIFE ON THE LINE!" Pidgeot, knowing why he was in such a panic, only gave enough time for Ash, Pikachu and Greninja to jump on and then took off.

"ASH! WHATS WRONG!?" But Serena's question didn't reach as he had become a dot in the sky.

"Wait, a day behind? Brock isn't this where?"

"Yup, we might have lost track of time enough to where Ash might barely make it."

"BARELY MAKE WHAT!?" Serena yelled out, sick and tired of being left in the dark.

"Serena, remember how Ash said he had a Charizard?" Serena nodded at Misty's question.

"WE met it much farther down this road on a rock, and that night, it rained. Enough to where Charmander nearly lost his life."

Serena's eyes widened, finally putting two and two together.

On a small rock, a small orange lizard was battling for his life.

When was Damien coming back? He couldn't have forgotten!

"Damien, what do I need to do to prove myself!? Haven't I done enough?"

He looked behind him, seeing a female version of his species.

"And why did you tell me to stay here with her? Is she being scoped for a possible backup? Or as a trainer?"

The rain began to pour even harder as the wind tried to pull the leaf he was using to cover their tails away.

Looking at it, he saw that the tail flames were very small.

An indicator of how close they were to death.

"Please hurry! I must have gotten stronger from this! Her included!"

Unfortunately, he saw the female's eyes start to close.

Moving quickly, he shoved her, startling her awake.

"Sorry, it's just getting hard to keep my eyes open."

He nodded, but then felt the effects himself.

"No! Can't go to sleep! What if he comes!?"

Yet, the female went to sleep again, and no amount of shoving would wake her up.

"Maybe just for a minute. Yeah, just one minute. Damien would wake me up when he comes."

As he began to close his eyes, he realized he didn't have the energy to keep them open.

"I'm sorry, Damien. I failed."

And with that, the young fire type closed his eyes.

Perhaps for the final time.

A sonic boom was heard as he began to dream.

"Dammit to Reverse World! He's in an even worse state than when we found him last time!"

Damien?

No, the voice did not have the snark that he had.

"BUTTERFREE! PUNCH UP A SUNNY DAY NOW! IF IT SCREWS THE WEATHER UP, THEN KEEP PUNCHING IT UP!"

Rescue?

Perhaps someone else came and found them.

"Pikachu! Use your Nuzzle and keep their hearts beating!"

He then felt a shock, though he could no longer tell if it was a dream or not.

"If you can hear me, please save the girl. I think it's too late for me."

What was the point?

It was all just a dream.

"SCREW THAT! I NEVER GAVE UP ON YOU WHEN YOU EVOLVED INTO CHARIZARD! AND I REFUSE TO GIVE UP ON YOU NOW! BULBASAUR, GET SOME POWDERED MEDICINE READY!"

Heh, what a hilarious dream.

Him?

A Charizard?

Like that was ever going to happen now.

Though he did feel like he was becoming warmer.

And that he was finally …

ABLE TO OPEN HIS EYES!

Shooting up in a panic, he suddenly realized he was still breathing, and the female was also awake.

Looking to his right, he saw a Bulbasaur moving a pile of leaves with powder on them closer to the two of them.

"Eat up. Small amounts of Stun Spores on Magical leaves cause a reaction that makes fire. As well as plenty of sunlight and harsh temperatures to warm you two up." With that. He then began to produce more glowing leaves from his bulb as a Butterfree flew down and applied small amounts of Stun Spore to the leaves.

"Why did you guys help us? We were about to die." Bulbasaur then looked stern.

"Because we don't leave Pokémon to die, even if they want to. Now EAT before Ash comes back."

Ash?

Was that this Bulbasaur's trainer?

But he already had a trainer.

His train of thought was cut short when the Bulbasaur glared at him.

The Magical Spore Leaves were gone in two seconds.

Nodding, the Bulbasaur seemed to be listening to the Butterfree as he then shot an orb into the sky, and it became brighter.

Then the Butterfree seemed to nod and flew off somewhere.

If he saw this Ash, he would like some answers.

"It almost sounds like this Charizard was the antithesis of Greninja."

Serena had gotten caught up on what Charizard was, having never gotten the story from Ash after Cerulean.

Alongside Alain, she didn't even know he HAD a Charizard.

Let alone what they went through, both the good and bad.

"In a way, I suppose. Greninja did seem like a Pokémon version of Ash. Charizard, when he was a Charmander, seemed to be very loyal to Ash after he saved his life." Brock then took a saddened look.

"That all changed when Charmander evolved into Charmeleon." Serena looked confused by that.

"What happened?"

"When Charmeleon evolved, he stopped listening to Ash. An old lady told us it was because his skill level outpaced Ash's, but that shouldn't have caused Charmeleon to start ignoring Ash or outright attacking him."

Serena's eyes grew wide upon hearing that.

"I think what actually happened was that he began to act like Damien to feel self-assured about himself."

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know the full details, but from how Damien acted, it seemed like he would work his Pokémon to the bone, only respecting power." Misty had a saddened look.

"Yeah, he only wanted strong Pokémon. Which might be why Charmeleon began to emulate him a bit. He felt he needed to act that way in order to stay with Ash." Serena looked saddened hearing what happened.

"Did it get better when he evolved into Charizard?" Misty shook her head.

"If anything, it got worse. With the added mobility granted to him by his wings, Charizard began going off and doing his own thing. The only times he obeyed Ash were when he fought another fire type." Serena began to get tears in her eyes.

"Then, during the Indigo League, Charizard was Ash's last chance. Two of his other Pokémon were tired from fighting Team Rocket the previous day. So, he tried to only use Squirtle and Pikachu, Charizard just took up the last slot." With that, Misty then looked at Brock.

"When he came out, he scared his opponent's Charmander enough to where he had to recall him. However, when they sent out a Pikachu, Charizard just blew him over with his wings …

And laid down to take a nap."

Serena looked incredulous.

"Because of that, Ash was eliminated from the tournament. In private, and I have never told anyone this, not even you Misty, was that Ash was tempted to RELEASE Charizard after that." Both Serena and Misty looked at Brock like he had two heads.

Ash? Releasing a Pokémon. Without the Pokémon's, ok?

He released Greninja, sure, but that was because it was the only one able to see the dark roots!

"It's funny, though. Charizard thought he won when he came out. And then blew a massive Flamethrower in Ash's face when he learned that they had lost. He then gave me his Pokéball and told me I was now in charge." With that, Serena and Misty were listening.

It had been the night that Ash had lost the Indigo League. Misty, Delia and Professor Oak were already asleep.

Only Ash and Brock were awake.

Ash was looking at a Pokéball, and just looked at Brock.

"Not here. I saw a lake nearby, but far enough away it should be quiet."

Once they arrived, Ash threw the ball revealing Charizard. Charizard took one look at Ash and looked expectantly.

"What? You wondering when the next match is?" Charizard nodded and made moves like he was a tough guy.

"OH, well, we aren't fighting anymore." Charizard began to laugh at that, until he noticed neither of them were smiling.

That made Charizard realize it wasn't a joke …

And blew a Flamethrower right in Ash's face.

"OH, now you want to put up a fight. Bit late for that when they declared you unwilling to battle!" Ash yelled, but Brock put a hand on his shoulder.

"Let me take care of this." Ash nodded then handed Brock Charizard's Pokéball.

"All up to you. I am almost TEMPTED to release him." Brock noticed Charizard look shocked the moment he heard that.

With that, Ash headed back into the woods.

Brock waited for Ash to clear, then set the Pokéball down on the ground.

"Onix." He simply said as he released his friend.

The rock snake looked at Charizard, who had a confident look …

That was quickly replaced with confusion when Onix began to laugh.

"So, Charizard. How does it feel to know you costed yourself many great battles in the League?" Brock asked the Fire type, who huffed and made a motion.

"Oh, so you don't care? Would you prefer I release you back out into the wild?" That gave Brock a reaction he didn't expect.

Fear.

Charizard's face changed to a fearful look and shook his head.

"Then why did you disobey Ash? He did everything for you when you were a Charmander." Charizard just looked annoyed and turned his back on Brock.

"Oh, don't want to remember when your old Trainer abandoned you, huh? Funny considering YOU DID THE EXACT SAME THING!" He suddenly shouted, taking Charizard by surprise.

That was quickly replaced with anger when he spun around and sent embers towards Brock.

Brock didn't move.

He didn't even flinch.

Just before the embers hit him, Onix shot his tail out in front of him, and took the embers.

Now even more angered that he was getting shown up by a Gym Leader who is often the FIRST that trainers fight, Charizard flew up into the air and sent a Flamethrower at Onix.

Onix didn't even blink when it connected.

If anything, he looked annoyed.

Finally having enough heat, Onix shot his tail upwards, connecting with Charizard's chin as it sent him reeling.

Barely righting himself in the air, he glared angrily.

"Not as easy as you thought it would be huh?" That challenge issued, Charizard charged at Onix.

Onix took a quick look at Brock and understood what he wanted him to do.

Grabbing Onix under the neck, Charizard began to fly up.

Or at least he tried to.

As much strength as he could muster, all he was doing was barely getting Onix's tail off the ground.

When he managed to get it a few feet off the ground, that's when his strength gave out.

And then realized the position he was in.

Letting his entire weight on top of Charizard, Onix did an impromptu Body Slam on him.

Hard.

Despite that, in the now very Charizard shaped crater, Charizard shakily stood.

He then saw Brock's face, and it hadn't changed.

"What's the matter? I thought a fully evolved Pokémon was strong?" Brock saw that the words clearly got to Charizard.

And yet, Charizard chose to continue attacking.

Or at least tried to.

When he lunged at Onix, Onix again shot his tail up.

Only this time, he wrapped it around Charizard.

And squeezed HARD.

Charizard tried breathing Flamethrower again, but this time, he only produced a puff of smoke.

And soon began gasping for air.

With a motion of his hand, Onix set Charizard on the ground.

After not moving for a bit, Charizard flipped himself over and looked up at Brock.

"Onix is my most powerful, but he often holds back on those with no badges because if he didn't, young Charmander would be in critical condition. Like you are right now."

Charizard then looked angered at that.

"However, that's not why you lost, Charizard."

Charizard then looked at Brock confused. He had to be stronger than him!

"Yes, you're stronger. But you don't have any DIRECTION." Charizard then looked even more confused.

"You only won as Charmander and against Blaine with Ash's help. You were strong, yes, but without Ash telling you when to dodge and what to aim for, you're not able to bring it out." Charizard then stood up, and just looked at him.

"When we first met Charizard, Ash asked me if I wanted to take you. I declined, not because you aren't a rock type, but because Ash could help you get to your full potential." Charizard then cocked his head to the side.

"However, while he may not be that skilled yet, you're ruining your chances. And even then, if Ash died, would you really forgive yourself?" Charizard then suddenly got tears in his eyes.

"I doubt that Ash truly wants this, but if you don't try and change soon, Ash WILL release you. Or even worse, you could end up in a situation like this where you're teetering on the edge of death, and Ash decides not to help you." Charizard then looked horrified at the thought.

"That's why he left it up to me. From what I'm seeing, you do regret doing all this. What Damien did is scarring, but you're turning into an even worse monster than he is." With that, Brock returned Onix.

"I am not asking you to change now, but you better decide who you are before it's too late and you make a bone headed decision."

Charizard then looked in the lake's reflection as Brock then returned him and returned to Ash.

"When we went to the Orange Islands, I stayed behind at Professor Ivy's place, but the next time I saw Charizard, he was obeying Ash." Brock finished as Serena was just sitting there shocked.

"What caused it?" Misty then looked contemplative.

"It's funny. Your prediction kind of came true Brock." Brock turned to Misty, as she stayed with Ash during the Orange Island trip.

"A few weeks after you left, Ash was challenged by a guy with a Poliwrath. And he fought him with Charizard.

Or at least tried to.

As usual, Charizard flew off to take a nap, thinking it was beneath him. However, the guy and his Poliwrath weren't taking no for an answer." She then made a motion that showed how shocked Charizard was.

"He ordered the Poliwrath to shoot Water Gun at Charizard, which got him to fight. However, Charizard still refused to listen to Ash, as he kept using Flamethrower even though it barely Scratched the Poliwrath." Then she brought out some ice cubes …

That she had for some reason and that weren't melted.

"Then, he ordered Poliwrath to use Water Gun. This time, however, he got the tail. And while he was free falling from the air, he froze Charizard with Ice Beam, and apart from his tail, froze his entire body." Misty then crushed the ice cubes.

"Ash was able to break the ice, but Charizard, when he was able to move again, couldn't even breath SMOKE. He spent all night trying to get him healthy." Misty then began to smile.

"I think that reminded Charizard of all the times as Charmander of when Ash helped him. And his loyalty returned."

Serena couldn't help but smile at that.

"Guess even his 'Never give up until it's over mentality has its limits." Brock just nodded.

"Should it be taking him this long?" Serena suddenly realized.

"Given how Dexter said we were a day behind, I'm guessing Ash is putting his all into Charmander like he did before." Brock said, looking in the direction where the sun was the strongest.

Charmander and the female had been eating a lot of berries the strange bipedal frog had been bringing them.

They were almost back up to full strength.

"So, you two feeling any better?" They both nearly jumped out of their skins when they saw how close the boy was to them.

"A lot better. Thanks."

"I'm just happy you're improving." Charmander shrugged and finished his berries.

"Now, before you go back to the rock, do you really think Damien is going to come back?" Charmander looked ashamed but nodded.

"If I'm not there and he does come back, I'll be forgotten!" Ash sighed.

"I know you're loyal to him, but if he did care about you, wouldn't he have come back by now?" Charmander just seemed to not want to accept it.

"He put me on that rock to get stronger! Until I have, I can't-"

"CHAR!"

Everybody jumped the moment the female yelled, clearly not being happy.

"Char charm, CHARMANDER!" was all Ash was getting, so he turned to Pikachu.

"Apparently, this Charmander had belonged to someone else, but was kidnapped from her original trainer by a guy named Cross. And she is saying that if anything, while Charmander being loyal is usually a good thing, if you try to make every little thing appear your fault, you don't have any self-respect left."

Charmander seemed to lower his head in shame.

"There's another reason I came here. It was the fact that I already knew you." Charmander looked up in surprise as Ash began typing on Dexter.

"Thank you for reminding me to get these organized. Here we are." With that, he presented it to Charmander.

It showed a Charmander who looked VERY similar to him. An almost invisible speck of gold on the two eyes, the faint white scarring on his back, a slight discoloration at the tip of the tail.

If this wasn't him, it was a damn good copy.

Ash then swiped the picture.

"THIS is also you, or what you would become."

Charmander looked, and he certainly didn't see a CharMANDER now.

It was a giant orange winged dragon with blue scales underneath the wings, roaring in victory of defeating a Blastoise.

Then the next picture showed the same Char …

With another one, who looked to be female with a pink bow on her head rubbing her cheek against him as he stood stoically like some kind of bodyguard.

The female then pushed her way past Charmander as she looked at the female final evolution.

"Is everything ok?" Ash asked, as the female moved her Claw behind her back …

And revealed the same bow that the one in the picture had on her head.

Ash's eyes widened at that.

If this was who he thought it was, well, he better make sure his old friend keeps his mate this time.

"I think I might know your nickname. Is it Charla?" that caused her to nod vigorously at that.

"Well then. That makes some things a bit easier. You see Charmander, I can give you back your memories of the old timeline." Charmander looked up at him, expecting him to just get ordered.

"But that decision is up to you. But if you do, hold her hand. It should give her back her old experience as well." Charmander looked back at Charla, clearly also letting her decide what to do.

After a few moments, the decision was made.

Serena was pacing back and forth where the others had remained.

Carving out an impressive trench with her path.

After she paced a trench where the middle of her shins couldn't be seen, she finally growled.

"THAT'S IT! I'M GOING TO GO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED!" She shouted as she brought our Fearow's Pokéball.

"Serena, do you even know which direction he went in?" Brock asked her, clearly knowing what would happen if she took off now.

"WELL, THAT'S BETTER THAN STANDING AEOUND DOING NOTHING!" She shouted as she enlarged the ball.

Misty was about to try and stop her when a roar was heard.

When she and Brock looked up in the sky, they had a smug smirk.

"I think he might have heard your shouting and came running back with a massive dragon for protection." Brock said jokingly as he pointed up in the sky.

Two orange dots were coming their way.

One on which had a rider on its back.

With a Pikachu.

"HEY GUYS! HEY GORGEOUS!" A familiar voice called out.

When the shapes landed, two Charizard stood in front of them, with Ash getting off one.

"I found him again! And a bonus!" He said as Serena suddenly tackled him into a hug.

"He didn't breathe fire on you at all, did he!? I won't tolerate him doing that as long as I'm here!" She blubbered out.

"No, he didn't, Serena. SHE made sure of it." He said, as he pointed to the other Charizard.

"I was about to ask that, Ash. Why is there a second Charizard?" Misty asked as Ash pulled out a pink bow and put it on her head.

Albeit a bit crooked.

"Let me fix that for you. My boyfriend is not good at accessorizing." Serena said, as she fixed it and made sure it was in the right place.

Brock and Misty stared at the Charizard, realizing who it was.

"CHARLA!?"

The female fire/flying type made a happy roar showing they remembered correctly …

As she then began rubbing her head against Charizard's chest affectionately with him trying to seem super imposing.

"HA, you may try to be intimidating, Charizard, but I think she is showing how soft you really are inside." Serena said with some laughter …

Until Charla suddenly put her face in hers.

And had stars in them.

"Um, everything OK, Charla?" Suddenly Charla began to make various growls and motions trying to say SOMETHING, but Serena couldn't understand her.

"In dumb human speech, Serena, Charla has been keeping up with me in the original timeline, since Charizard also kept tabs when he was at the Valley." Ash began as Charla then saw Sylveon and Braixen and began speed talking to them.

"As such, she became a big fan of yours when she and Charizard saw me watching one of your Performances. Apparently, you did get popular enough that you got merchandise based off you and your friends, as she had a plushy set of you, Braixen, Sylveon and Pancham." He then smirked.

"Alongside a Haunted House playset with you in your Showcase dress exploring it, falling victim to traps." Serena blushed at that and had a bit of an angry scowl.

Her? In a haunted house? In her Showcase dress?

Yeah right, like THAT would be a possibility.

"But you always got out without scratching your dress with your Performance abilities." Serena then smirked.

Oh yeah. If that Lon guy in Kalos tried to send her down one of his trapdoors, she would have figured out a way to not get caught in them.

"Though, why did you grab your hat instead of the sides?" Ash asked. Seemingly reading her mind.

Serena blushed at that.

Instead of splaying her arms out to catch the sides of the trapdoor, she had instead grabbed onto her hat.

Yeah, that was embarrassing.

"Back to Charla, basically, you've got a fan girl." Serena nodded at that, hoping to move OFF the subject of her and haunted houses.

"We should be able to catch her old trainer in the same Pokémon center we met Charizard's original trainer, so you and her can discuss sharing." That caused Serena to look at Ash confused.

"What do you mean SHARE?"

"After they evolved again, Charla said that, if it's alright with Liza, she would like to travel with you. Both to be next to her boyfriend, and to learn Showcases from you." Serena thought about it.

"As long as she helps me get paid for royalties from those toys this time, I am ok with that." She replied …

Before she and the everyone else suddenly saw a LONG sheet of paper rolling past them.

And Charla was holding the top seemingly reading it off.

"Uh, what's she saying?" Serena asked, as she was REALLY wanting to understand what Charla was saying and doing.

Ash was always holding her back on the aura training, unlike Mosty and Brock.

Which annoyed her.

"Apparently, Charla took note on how to do this in the original timeline. So, you got one heck of a lawyer."

Serena shrugged, then pulled out a Pokéball, and threw it at Charla, who caught it with her hand and vanished inside with the long sheet.

"OK. Let's try and get to Damien and Liza before they skedaddle." Everyone agreed and headed toward the Pokémon Center.

(INTERMISSION IN VIRIDIAN!)

It was lunch time in Viridian City.

Giovanni had just gotten his lunch in him, and he and "Persian" had just gone out to the balcony.

One of the few places he wouldn't be watched.

He had just gotten a cup of coffee to enjoy outside …

When he looked up and saw a Gyarados staring straight at him.

With a red head Gym Leader on his back.

"It's been a while, Gyara. You too, Kasumi." He stated simply as she got off the back.

"Guess Ash was telling the truth. You have been in the pits being stuck portraying him." Kasumi said, remembering how her old friend acted before.

"Ya don't say. By the by, Yellow is behind you." He said as he took another swig as Kasumi looked behind her and saw Domino staring at her.

"Nice to see you too, Yellow. You know I got over my crush on Red, right?" Yellow took off her cap and let her ponytail fall.

"As did I get over my childish crush on him as well. Plus, it helps that I'm 5 years younger than him. And you." She pointed out.

"True. So, how are things with the new plans of tearing down Team Rocket?" She asked, hoping this charade would end soon.

"Not as fast as you're hoping, Kasumi. I know I was the impatient doofus back in the day, but this is one where if I make a wrong move, Team Rocket won't hesitate to end it all." Kasumi sighed but nodded.

"Well. Would you like to have Gyara back to help?" She asked, holding his Pokéball.

"No. Give me Kingler." Red replied as he drank some more coffee.

This surprised Kasumi, Yellow and Gyara himself.

"Why?"

"Two reasons," He said holding up two fingers, "first, I was with Gyara longer than Kingler. I didn't get to see her evolve, so I would like to reconnect with her."

Kasumi nodded her head, understanding that point of sentimentality.

"And two." He pointed at Gyara.

"You used Gyara to bypass the security they install downstairs. How are you going to sneak OUT the front door?" At that, Kasumi had a blanche look.

Yeah, she should have figured out a better way of meeting here.

With that, she handed over Kingler's Pokéball and got back on Gyara.

"I know it's not quite accurate, or that it might be premature, but it's good to have you back Red." Ref smiled as Kasumi flew away on Gyara.

With Yellow quickly putting her disguise back on, Giovanni finished up his coffee and went back inside.

Making sure to hide Kingler's ball from prying eyes.

(BACK TO ASH!)

"Hey! Aren't you Damien?" Damien turned around to see a kid with raven hair and a weak Pikachu on his shoulders.

He also saw a squint-eyed man that looked familiar, and a red head.

Then he saw an absolutely beautiful blonde-haired girl.

"Indeed I am. Though I don't know how, I'm guessing you're a kid who recognizes greatness." With that, he put an arm around the blonde.

"And I'll bet you would like to be in the presence of greatness, wouldn't ya, toots?" He said in a flirty tone …

Only to realize painfully she was not there anymore and smacked his face on the floor.

"Playing hard to get? I'll play that game with ya." Only to then get pushed back by the kid.

"Sorry to interrupt but didn't you have a Charmander?" Damien then had an annoyed look from that.

"Yeah, so? I left that thing on a rock since it couldn't even beat a Magikarp! Though how a Magikarp learned Hydro Pump I'll never know."

"TMs but that's beside the point. You basically left him on a rock without food, and out in the rain?"

"YES! I did that, but who cares!? It's probably dead by now wagging its tail waiting for me." The boy then turned to the red head and squinted eyes.

"Heard and recorded?"

"Yup."

Heard and recorded? What did that mean?

"According to Kanto regulations 2754, when you release a Pokémon, you are responsible for where you release it. Meaning that if it dies because of improper areas, it's on YOUR head."

Damien was getting annoyed. What was this kid on about? And was he purposefully trying to keep him from the cute blonde?

"So what? You got the authority?"

"No, but local Gym Leaders used to aid Police in matters such as this."

That seemed to make him click back to the other two in the room.

"Brock Harrison, Gym Leader of Pewter City." The squinty eyed guy said, holding up a Boulder badge, but the center was golden. Signifying it as the one the actual Leader had to show recognition.

"Misty Waterflower. Gym Leader of Cerulean City and the one closest to this whole thing." The red head said, holding up a Cascade Badge that had the outer raindrop surrounded by gold.

Damien began to sweat.

This kid had set him up!

"And according to Kanto law 347, Charmander is allowed to give a return shot. He is right behind you."

Damien whirled around, holding a Pokéball that held a Machamp, ready to fight his way out if he had to.

It was just a small Charmander! One who lost to a Magikarp!

That somehow knew Hydro Pump.

He turned around to glare at the tiny lizard who caused him so much trouble …

Only to see a pair of orange clawed feet.

Slowly traveling up the body of the now MASSIVE CharIZARD, he saw it glaring right at him.

And then he saw the eyes.

Blue.

With a speck of gold in each eye.

He began to sweat profusely as his old Charmander then opened his mouth, seeing flames rising in the back of the neck.

Damien thought he was looking down the barrel of a shotgun aimed at his face.

Especially when he saw a flash happen in front of his face …

And everything went black.

Oh, Charizard was very tempted to give Damien a full mouth blast of Flamethrower for what he had done.

He FELT like he was going to.

But one look from Charla reminded him that he was BETTER than that.

So, while flames did come out, they only went close to his face, where Damien would THINK that Charizard flamed him.

As he fainted to the ground, Officer Jenny cuffed him up and dragged him away.

"Nice work, buddy. Glad you didn't give in to temptation." Ash praised as Charizard.

"Trust me. I was very tempted, but two things prevented me. One, if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have met." Charizard answered back.

He then saw Ash take a sly grin.

"And I guess you're scared of Charla reprimanding you?"

"No. Not scared. TERRIFIED." Charizard clarified.

"Yeah, same with Serena. I dare you to Flamethrower me when she's around." He told Charizard who looked back nervously.

Both Serena and Charla looked smugly at him, almost like they were echoing Ash.

"Did someone say Charla?" A voice rang out.

"Phew. Saved by Liza."

"She won't always be around to save your tail." Charizard, almost like a mewling Litten, looked behind him with Charla right in his face …

With the scariest sweet grin, he had ever seen.

"Yes, dear." He said, fearing for his life for a second.

They then saw a green haired woman with a cane and red outfit walking towards them, then looking disappointed at seeing the Charla.

"Sorry. I thought someone had found my Charmander. She too has the nickname, Charla. Still, she is in excellent shape! How long have you had her?" she asked Serena, clearly thinking that she was Charla's trainer.

"Oh, my boyfriend and his Charizard found her on a rock not too far from here, abandoned by a guy named Cross." She then turned back as Charla made a motion that she knew Liza would recognize.

"CHARLA!?" She then winked, as Liza then threw her arms around her.

"OH, my Arceus! How could I not recognize you earlier when I saw you!?" She cried as Charla then hugged her.

When Liza suddenly went limp, holding her head.

Charla then stared at Ash, then grumbled something.

"She said that she briefly saw something purple before she went limp." Ash's eyebrows raised at that.

"OUCH. Did anyone get the Type Plate of that Arceus that just went through my head?" Liza asked as she shakily stood up.

"Do you remember me, Liza?" Ash asked, as Liza looked at him in shock.

"Yeah. What happened? Last thing I remember is seeing this big black blob coming for the Charicific Valley and then, here!" She replied, then saw Serena.

"OH, I'll bet Charla was happy to see you. Tell me, why did you ok a Haunted House set with the included figure of you in that dress you use for Performances?" she asked as Serena grew red and embarrassed at the mention.

"I didn't know I got a toy line at all! And I most certainly wouldn't have let them make a Haunted House set in the first place!" She screamed, wanting to forget that set ever existed now.

"Sorry, couldn't help it. So, Charla, I know you were a big fan of hers. You might have to be separated from me and Charizard, but I am willing to be a second trainer for you if you want." Liza said, offering Charla's new Pokéball to Serena.

"Actually, I'm traveling with Ash, so she won't be too far from her boyfriend!" Liza looked surprised at Ash.

"You are lucky to get quite the performer as a traveling companion, Ash!" Ash then blushed.

"Well, that's because I met her at a camp when we were 6, and now she's my girlfriend." Liza stared at Ash …

And then fainted AGAIN.

A little later, after getting Liza back to consciousness, everyone was traveling down the road, when Ash turned to Serena.

"Hey if you want, you can fly ahead of us on Fearow. We're going to be going off the path here to reunite with Squirtle, and he was quite the trickster back in the day."

"You sure? I mean, Charla would be good to have for backup." Serena countered, as from his description, his Squirtle wasn't as kind as the others.

"Trust me. Pikachu, Butterfree, Pidgeot, Bulbasaur and Charizard are enough to keep him in line. We'll be fine. He hasn't met you yet, and I DON'T want it to be on the wrong foot in the wilderness."

"Um why? Is he bad enough to kill me?" Ash looked nervous.

"Before remembering? Yes, but once I remind him, I'm worried you're going to strangle him for getting your clothes wet as well." Serena glared a bit at that, but shrugged, as he DID have a point.

As she remembered when they first met Malamar.

And she HATED herself for being more afraid of her looks.

"I will accept that, FOR NOW. Next time you give that as your reasoning, I'm bringing out Fearow to PECK you or DRILL RUN you." Ash gulped at that and nodded.

With that, Serena brought out Fearow's ball.

"OK, Fearow! We're heading ahead to Vermillion City! Ash and the others are staying behind to get another of his Pokémon. So, any problems with having me alone on your back?" Fearow then did something weird.

He folded up some of his feathers, then made a punching motion across his face, with one feather like a thumb sticking up.

"FEEAR FEFEAROOOWW!"

Serena then looked back at Ash and hoped for a translation.

"Um, I'll tell you later, Serena. I don't want him to kill me when I translate it." Fearow nodded DANGEROUSLY at him, as he then leaned down to allow Sylveon and Serena onto his back.

"OK, Eve. Which way?" The Pokédex pinged a location and then a compass image began pointing to the front right.

"About 20 miles that way, Lady Serena. We should be able to get there in about 10 minutes by flight."

With the heading cleared, Serena began her flight.

"Hmm, I'm gonna need to look up what makes a Sky Trainer suit later. Anyone remember where that hole was?" Ash asked …

Only to see Brock and Misty fall into it.

"Oh, never mind then."

"NOT FUNNY, ASH!" Misty could be heard yelling from the hole.

Serena and her two friends saw the entrance to the city, which Fearow parked a bit away from.

"Thank you, Fearow. Once I figure out how to make Poffins and Poké-Puffs around here, you'll be getting some." Fearow licked his lips in hunger from that, having tasted a small one as a Spearow when a random Trainer offered him one.

So, he really was excited for the treats.

"Just remember, it's a treat. You need to work hard to get them again. I just have a backlog with you for now." She said, winking at him.

He winked back, and they walked into the city together.

Serena decided to first hit the Pokémon center to check up on Fearow (he didn't need anything extensive, but hey, he did have to cover them during a storm, which he was shivering from), she and her friends agreed on going to the beach.

Oh, she wasn't going swimming yet as she wanted to wait for Ash for that, but she and her friends could still practice down there.

Freya was working with Rattata on making some kind of slide made of Ice that she then smashed up after Rattata slid out of it with Double Kick.

Fearow and Charla were flying around, working on aerial maneuvers and sudden pull-ups.

Preferably ones that didn't whip Serena off their backs at such great force.

Serena was walking down the beaches with Sylveon, with Fearow and Charla deciding to follow them in the air as they practiced just in case they needed help.

Suddenly a loud squeal filled the air.

"YEAH! KICK IT AGAIN!"

"LIOOOOO!"

Running in the direction of the sounds, she saw three punks.

Kicking a blue seal-like Pokémon in the stomach and head.

"HA! WHAT A WIMPY POKÉMON!"

One of the hooligans shouted as another one …

Brought out a hammer.

And brought it down on the back of the poor thing.

"POOOOOPPP!"

"HEY! LEAVE THAT POPPLIO ALONE!" The three turned around and saw Serena running towards them.

"Or else WHAT, girly?" the one who hadn't spoken yet asked.

"That Popplio will DIE if you keep beating it like that! Why are you beating it anyway!?" The punk just looked annoyed.

"Ug, beauty with no brains. A Pokémon MUST be able to stand up for itself! And judging from what YOU got, I doubt that you would have survived the Rattata and Pidgey on Route 1." he said disdainfully, as he then put a booted foot on the Popplio's head.

"Oh really? Then how about I MAKE you leave?" That got the punks' attention, as well as the Popplio.

"I have three Pokémon. This Sylveon, who I might add in the past took on DRAGONS, but I have two flyers. They should be coming down ANY minute. You beat them with all the Pokémon you have, I'll leave and let you keep doing what you're doing without telling Officer Jenny." This seemed to get their attention.

"Interesting. I will add that you also …

Go out on a date with me to get some brains in that head of yours." Serena scowled but nodded.

"If I win, then you let me take that Popplio to the Center and don't bug me for the rest of my time in Kanto. And you will turn yourselves in to Officer Jenny." The leader smirked and then they revealed that they had one Pokéball each.

"HOUNDOOM! BATTLE FORMATION Z!"

"ELECTABUZZ! GIVE HER A CHARGE!"

"ZWEILOUS! SHOW THAT THE FAIRY TYPE DOESN'T EXIST!"

With that, said Pokémon appeared.

"Now, missy, time to learn just how outpaced you are! Houndoom, use-!"

*KERASH! *

Before Houndoom could even process what had just happened, he had a massive foot land on his head, leaving a very distinct Houndoom shaped hole in the ground.

It turned out the little girl had one giant Charizard with a bow on its head.

With an unimpressed look.

"Electabuzz! Thunderpunch!" the yellow Behemoth charged straight at Charla, before a brown blur sidelined him, taking him up into the sky and letting him fall down to earth.

Charla got off Houndoom, who was still conscious …

Only to have an Electabuzz land back on him.

They had also failed to account that she had a Fearow.

Who was looking very psychotically at them right now.

"Zweilous! This little pink puffball ain't a match for us! The Fairy Type is so weak it's non-existent! Use Dragon Breath!" The last one yelled, as Zweilous tried breathing a purple flame at Sylveon.

"Performance dance with Moon Blast." Serena simply said.

Instead of letting this idiot look stupid by just not being affected by Dragon type moves, Sylveon added salt onto the wound by DANCING through the breath.

No, not around, THROUGH IT.

Zweilous was absolutely confused when its attacks did NOTHING.

At least before a massive moon sized blast was shot right in its two faces.

All three punks just stared at this apparently battle hater beating them.

Especially when Sylveon used Fairy Wind to lift Zweilous off the ground and drop him on top of the other two who were barely moving.

Having a Zweilous land on top of them HEADFIRST was enough to finally knock them out.

"Well, we had an agreement. Officer Jenny is about 10 minutes that way." She said, as the three just stared at her.

The leader then grits his teeth and grabbed the Popplio by the neck.

"LIKE REVERSE WORLD WE WILL! THIS POPPLIO WHATEVER IT IS GOING TO PAY FOR BEING WEAK!" He yelled, turning around to run …

When a blue arm punched him in the face.

FaIrIeS and PUROLE BLITCHETS!" The leader slurred as he hit the ground unconscious.

His cohorts got their heads slammed together by two green vines.

"Sheesh. They don't make em competent like they used to." Serena smiled at Gary and Miette, who had been behind the three the entire time.

"Nice work with the double KO, Venus." Miette told an Ivysaur, as she pets its bulb.

"Ivysaur!" She cried happily, as she got fed a simple pink Poképuff.

Serena quickly picked up the Popplio and got on Charla's back.

"You take care of these creeps! I'll take care of Popplio!" Gary and Miette nodded as Blastoise grabbed the two associates and Venus dragged the leader by his ankles.

Making sure to walk over every bump she could find on the way to Officer Jenny.

(BACK WITH ASH!)

"So, that's about the size of it, Squirtle. Can we count on you for help?"

They had finally stopped Squirtle and his squad, though not without difficulties.

Namely being that Misty blundered into every trap they set and had to be bailed out by Brock and Ash.

Squirtle had finally listened when Ash told him about a scar on his shell.

One that he would only know if he told him.

Now that he was reminded and caught up to speed, he was deep in thought.

"If you don't want to come with us, I can understand." Squirtle put his paw underneath his chin …

Before shooting them straight out to his rid side and began clenching them to where they hear his knuckles Crack.

"Oh no." Was all Ash could get out …

When he saw the other Squirtle behind his start playing instruments to the tune of "Pokérider Black's" theme.

With that, Squirtle then moved his arm in an arc before holding them flat and straight to the original side.

"HEEENSHIIIN!" He cried as he then leaped into the air, doing a spin as water began to surround him.

When he landed, he had watery armor around him that was looking very black.

"The world calls out for a new Century King! One who will unite both Humans and Pokémon! That Century King is me!" He yelled, with Misty and Brock thankful they couldn't understand him yet.

"Squirtle Rider Black!" He said, striking a pose as his fellow Squirtle ended the music, and an explosion of water appeared behind him.

"As such, it is my distinguished honor to return to battle at your side, Ash, as a fellow protector of justice!" He declared as a Pokéball captured him.

"OK, I hope the entire LINE of Squirtle isn't like him." Misty groaned.

It then popped open with Squirtle smirking at Ash.

"So, I hear my trainer has a girlfriend. Who's the lucky gal who got through your helmet level denseness?" He smirked, as Ash just glared at him.

And then promptly returned him.

"I do not want to have him teasing me." Ash groaned out as they then got back to Vermillion City.

"I'm surprised Charizard hasn't done that yet." Brock said, keeping his own disappointment to himself.

"Charla scared him when she learned who it was." He said, as he then saw Serena running.

"Guess she must have sensed us com- "Ash cut himself off when he saw a Pokémon in her arms.

"OR SHE'S TRYING TO HELP OUT AN INURED POKÉMON!" He shouted as he ran after Serena.

His two friends also didn't hesitate to run after them.

(TEAM ROCKET BREAK!)

Where has Team Rocket been this whole time?

Well, they're coming out of Rock Tunnel right now.

"Next time I tells youse two to watch out for Onix, HOWS ABOUT YA LISTEN NEXT TIME!?" Meowth screamed as Jessie and James stumbled around, while Arbok and Weezing just shook their heads in annoyance.

Getting Growlie back was the easy part.

Getting him a Fire Stone was another story all together.

Especially with the price increase for them.

"Well, we need to keep an eye out for better Pokémon! As well as our old friends." Jessie said as she made a flamboyant motion.

"Jessie, we are out of range of any CURRENT Rocket Cells. We can stop the act." James reacted, seeing no need to keep up the charade right now.

"I'm practicing for when we run into the other Twerpettes who did contests. I will NOT let them start slacking off just because we are not enemies anymore!" Jessie said …

Before something yanked her hair and she fell flat on her back.

"NO ONE TOUCHES THE HAIR EXCEPT ME!" She screamed and grabbed …

An Impidimp, who was chuckling.

"Oh, thought that was funny, eh? Well let's see if you think THIS is funny!" With that, she pulled the tail back and sprang it back.

This caused a flurry of punches and kicks when they began brawling.

Then stopped for a moment to catch their breath.

Then resumed the cloud of smoke.

When they stopped to catch their breath, they were both on the ground gasping for air.

"Gotta admit, for a little guy you got a lot of spunk." Jessie gasped out with Impidimp laughing a bit.

"Imp impi impidimp!" The little guy said.

"He said 'Yeah, haven't gotten beat up like that since I left Galar.' Guess he hasn't had a lot of fun since coming g here." Meowth, translated as Impidimp saw Jessie's Pokéballs and touched the button of one and was sucked in.

"Seems you impressed him enough that he wanted to come with." James said ad Jessie looked at the Pokéball.

"I've caught under weirder circumstances like Seviper. Still, an Impidimp as a Fairy is useful." She pinted out.

"Might also help that you are very similar to him with how stubborn you are." Everyone jumped when they had that voice in their head and saw a Kadabra leaning against the wall looking at them with a smirk.

Very rare for Kadabra to actually EMOTE at all.

He then began twirling the spoon his species comes with like one would with a blunt knife.

"Now then, gentlemen and lady, I do believe you are looking for some new friends to help take down a certain organization, am I right?" He said with a Kalos accent.

"Uh yeah, but how do we know we can trust you? And you would also have to be mine since Jessie just got her new one." Kadabra then began to chuckle as he brought out a faux cigarette holder and took a candy cigarette and put it in his mouth, pretending to light it.

"Well, Mon ami, you do have a point on ze trust. However, given my accent zat ju can currently hear now, would someone from Kanto really talk like me? And if I was a part of zem, wouldn't you already be surrounded?" James looked at Meowth and Jessie and they nodded, as he had a point.

Team Rocket wouldn't just let them betray.

"Az vor me being your Pokémon, I have no problems with that. I must ask that you use your Luxury Ball, owever. I cannot take those regular ones as they get VERY uncomfortable, Mon Ami." James took out the ball, and shrugged, throwing it to Kadabra.

He used his psychics to have it hit his stomach and was pulled inside.

After it dinged, James was about to pick it up when he burst out.

"As much as I like being in there, we do need to get back to Vermillion, Mes Amis. For then, we can help prevent the S.S Anne disaster, and we can take care of zat Gyarados you used to ave. Try to make sure that he doesn't go crazy this time, Jamey boy." James just looked at him but shrugged.

Kadabra were Psychic after all, shouldn't be too surprising he knows.

"Well, could you please teleport us – "

Didn't get the chance to finish as they flashed over there.
