Chapter 5 House Elves, Heirships and Hierarchy

"Yes Master Harry, my mate be the Head-Elf till he 3 years ago, he deceased because of the lack of magic, now I be the new head elf" she said with a sad smile
"What do you mean" Harry asked "can you explain please" he added
"We Elves are not like other magical creatures, we are the decedents of the High-Elves or also known as Light-Elves" Harry gasped, she nodded
"We don't know what happened to them, but one day they all disappeared, naturally all Magical creatures generate their own magic but, we absorb magic from our forests, but when the forests started to culled few of our brethren made a contract with the wizards and witches"
"The contract was simple, the wizards will offer us the magic and the place to stay, in return we would protect the family of the wizards and be part of the family"
"After few centuries all the elves making the same pacts and contracts, soon there were no Elvin forests left, without our contract we can't gain the magic from the wizarding family, the contract would be dismissed if they were given the clothes" Mispy said
"Wait, then how are you wearing the clothes, if it could break the contract" Harry asked confused and bit panicked that one link of his family would be lost to him
"Don't worry Young Master, Mistress Lily didn't give us these clothes, she ordered us to wear uniform that as the member of House Potter we should show how proud we are to serve House potter."
"We are the ones procured the cloth and Sewing kit, we were the ones made these uniforms using our magic to reinforce against temperature and few other things to help us in daily work, all Mistress offered us few golds for the cost of cloth" she said
"oh" Harry calmed down
"So how many elves were in the service of House Potter" he asked, her eyes watered a bit and looked sad
"Currently, we are only 15 of us, we stay in the houses that belong to House Potter, but you can only access them when you wear the Head of house ring" she said
"If their magic was low, please inform me I will recharge their magic" he said
"Master, you were saying only about House Potter, but what of other Elves that bonded to other houses that belong to you" she asked
"Huh, I have more Elves?" Harry asked, she nodded
"How do I know how many were under my service" Harry asked
"You need to visit Gringotts, they would know which houses you were the Head or Heir of, then you could summon them to you" she said, Harry nodded
Next Day
Harry woke up and was about to go down for the breakfast, there was a pop and Infront of him stood the Mispy with breakfast, Harry ate the breakfast and saw there was 4 days till he can go to Hogwarts, so this would be the few day he could visit Gringotts, he nodded to himself and shifted to his usual disguise and entered the Diagon Alley and walked to the Gringotts, soon he was in the short line of the Goblin tellers after few moments he was infront of the Goblin teller
"Well met Master teller, where can I know if I have any inheritances" harry asked, Goblin looked at him and shouted in Goblin tongue and there was another goblin step beside him
"Follow me" he said, Harry followed the goblin, after few turns, they were at the ornately decorated Door with a name 'Bone-Dagger' with Inheritance Department sign on it, the goblin knocked on the door, he heard rough "enter" from the room, goblin he followed opened the door to let Harry enter and closed the door behind him
Harry looked around and noticed there was only one old goblin, surrounded by many books but the book infront of him was one of the largest and thickest books he ever saw it was the size of 28 inches length 45 inches width and 10 inches thick, he used 'Pause' and walked to the Goblin and looked at the book goblin was looking, the book was written in different language he can't read, he found the title screen

Harry was surprised there was a language 'Old Elvish', he used 'Resume' he was again dragged to the position when he paused, he looked at the Goblin he was not looking at him still reading the book
"What?" Bone-Dagger barked at him not even looking up at him
"Uh, I wish to know if I had any inheritances?" Harry asked
"It will cost you 50 Gold" he said,
"30 Gold" Harry retorted, he might have thousands of gold coins, but as he learned about the goblins, they like those who haggle than those who accepted the price at the face value, he noticed goblin grinned a shark like grin

"30 Gold" He reiterated
"40 Gold final or you could see yourself out" the goblin barked, Harry nodded and handed him the amount
"Name" He asked
"Harry James Potter" Harry said, he stopped reading the book and looked up at him with narrowed eyes
"We shall see weather to add your head to the past members, who came claiming to be Harry James Potter" he said with a predatory gleam
"Uh, how can I prove that I am Harry James Potter" Harry asked collecting himself and activated his 'Poker Face' ability, Harry received an approving nod and the Bone-Dagger took out the vail with some kind of potion, a dagger and parchment with Gringotts logo on it
"We need 7 drops of blood, add to this potion" Bone Dagger handed him a dagger, he nodded and made a small cut on his thumb and added 7 drops of blood in the potion, Bone-Dagger took the vail and mixed it after few moments it glowed and turned black, he poured all the potion on the parchment, parchment absorbed the potion and few words appeared, the Goblin read the document and looked at him in surprise
'Maybe there was many people used my name to steal my inheritance huh' Harry thought and shook his head
"Sorry for not believing you Heir Potter, you must understand including you, we received over 45 members claiming it was you, so it was necessary" the goblin said not at all apologetic
"Uh, its ok I guess I don't mind that much, anything that protect the gold is good I guess" Harry said
"Well, let's get back to your inheritance" he said and handed Harry the parchment

"Are there anything I could do on Hogwarts, as I could see I was the heir of 2 Founders" Harry asked
"Nothing" Bone Dagger said simply
"Nothing?" Harry asked faltered, Bone-Dagger barked a laugh, it was quite unsettling
"You have seat on School Board of Governors, you have 4 votes for each founder houses, you were given priority to be a chair-person of the board of Governors before any other member" Bone-Dagger said
"that's it" Harry asked
"What? do you think you could take control of the Hogwarts or something like that" the goblin snorted, it was unheard of sound
"Well, no" he sighed, "is there anything else I could do" Harry asked
"No, not now anyway, you could appoint Proxy on Wizengamot after you claim your Heir Rings, you were allowed to do this only because you were over 13 years old and there was no current Lord of the houses, otherwise previous proxies would continue as they were, you could only do that just because there was no official head of house" he said
"Who were the current Proxies" Harry asked
"Currently only two seats were in active on Wizengamot, your Potter Seat and Black Seat, Potter seat Proxy was Elphias Doge appointed by Dumbledore, and Lucius Malfoy was the proxy of the Black seat, he claimed his son was going to be next Lord Black and he was authorized by Cornelius Fudge" Bone-Dagger said
He almost spat the words 'Malfoy' and 'Fudge' and more importantly, according to the Goblins I could take out the power of the Malfoy's, Harry nodded
"How can I claim my heir ship of these houses" Harry asked,
"We can summon the Heirship rings, as per the treaty on 980 with Goglin Friend Merlin we were tasked to forge all the Heirship and Lordship rings of every member of Wizards council now known as Wizengamot, we had ability to summon those rings no matter where they were, we can only do that to the rings which were not dawned by anyone" Bone-Dagger said
Harry nodded, Bone-Dagger tapped few runes on his desk, after few moments there was a knock on the door, goblin escorted him entered the room Bone-Dagger said something in goblin tongue, runner exited the room after few minutes he entered carrying the few boxes, he placed the boxes on the desk and exited again closing the door
"Place the Heir ring on your finger, if the house accepts you, it will resize to fit your finger" the goblin said and pointed to the first box with name Potter on it, Harry opened the box in the box there was the silver ring, above the ring there was a screen appeared

"Uh, Master Goblin I feel the ring was off somehow" he said, Bone Dagger approached him and looked at the ring and waved his hand and he too recoiled and slammed his fist on his desk almost breaking the desk
Immediately 2 goblins entered with their sword drawn, Harry for a moment wanted to equip with the sword as well to defend himself, but then Bone-Dagger shouted something in goblin tongue
They sheathed their swords and waved a hand then a box appeared, Bone-Dagger placed the ring box in the metal box and handed it to one of the goblins that entered the room
"It was good that you haven't touched the ring Heir Potter, it was good that your magic was sensitive to dark magic" Bone-Dagger said, Harry nodded
"What was that anyway, it felt like something calling me to it" Harry asked
"Then it was good, that you could resist the most powerful Compulsion charm, if you were to touch the ring you would have weathered away" Bone Dagger said, Harry was thankful for the gamer ability to read the description of all Items and took a deep breath

Harry closed the screen and he wanted to know how to discover other items, "so how was it not discovered before" Harry asked Bone-Dagger looking confused

"So, what's going to happen to the ring" Harry asked
"We gonna perform the ritual and 'cleanse' the object" Bone-Dagger said
"Can you explain about all this ancient and Noble houses and stuff, I really don't understand" Harry asked

"And Last Tier, Dark creatures and Magical creatures, Dark creatures and all sentient magical creatures come under this tier" Bone-Dagger said, Harry sat there absorbing everything, Harry said nothing for few minutes then he asked about the curse on the ring
"So could I know about the curse that was on the ring" Harry asked changing the topic
"That was one of the vilest magic wizards ever created, we have forbidden that magic for over 500 years, if we find it stored in our vaults it would be confiscated along with the whole Vault, we don't spoke of the magic here, it was abomination" Bone Dagger continue growling and spitting mad, Harry inched away from him
"Um, could I meet my house account managers" Harry asked
"Uh yes, your Potter Account Manager would be Gold-Sword, he should have sent you quarterly account details to your guardian till you would reach age of Majority" Bone-Dagger said
"So, who are my other account managers" Harry asked
"Iron-Claw was the Black Account manager"
"All founders Accounts were managed by the Ragnar, he was the son of the Director"
"Peverell and Gaunt Accounts was dormant so currently no one was managing the account"
"Finally Emrys account was a very important account in our bank, Myrddin Emrys or also known as Merlin was cursed by his wife Morgana La-Fey, He know all his dependents were going to be squibs for next 1000 years till your mother was born, so he changed his family name to Evans and hid his son in the Non-Magical world, he ordered us to invest 80% of his wealth, so yes Emrys may not be active in Wizarding world, their gold was very much active this was also managed by Ragnar" Bone-Dagger said
There was a knock on the door, Bone-Dagger shouted 'Enter' the Goblin who carried the Gaunt Family ring entered and handed the ring which was cleansed
"Ahh, your Gaunt ring was ready" he said Harry nodded and looked at the item again and found the black stone got a small crack

"All Heirship and Lordship rings are semi-conscient, it absorbs the magic of all previous wearers and store the knowledge of their wearer, those rings teach the history of the house and previous Heirs and Lords of the house"
"These rings can be enchanted with reusable Portkey enchantment, each ring can hold upto 4 locations other than Ancestral Houses, they can detect any Mind-altering potions and Poisons, it also protects wearer against all and any compulsion and Memory charms" Bone-Dagger said, Harry nodded
'These rings are very useful, if someone like Lockhart tries again these rings will protect me' Harry thought
"Is these anything else" Bone-Dagger asked, Harry shook his head
"Your business here is completed then, you could ask the directions of your account manager office at the tellers" Bone-Dagger said,
Harry nodded and followed the goblin that was guarding the room of Bone-Dagger to the entrance hall of the bank
Harry head was reeling he just came to find the how many elves were under his service but what he found was too much for him to handle all in just one day, he returned to his room in Leaky Cauldron, he decided to handle the situation of House Elves when he reached Hogwarts, and spend the rest of the day wandering around the Alley
