Authors note:
I totally forgot to write an author's note in the last chapter. There are going to be some changes to the story. As you know from the previous chapter, Jaha now knows about Sydney. Let's find out more in this chapter.
If anyone wonders about Kane's attitude, please remember that the culling never happened and that he has nothing to feel bad over. So, he is still a major dick.
There are two groups.
Bellamy, Finn, Roma, and Valerie are in one group. Wells, Mbege, Jasper, and Murphy are in the other group. Three other teenagers, Connor, Myles, and Dax, decided to join the Bellamy group. Look them up on the 100 Wiki.
I won't write about Clarke and Raven, but it will be the same as in the show.
Trigger warning: Death!
Onwards!
-Bellamys Pov.
The two groups separated. Some other teenagers wanted to join, bringing their group to seven people. Wells insisted on keeping their group small because their mission was to stay inconspicuous in grounder territory. The rest of the group was unaware, but Wells and Bellamy agreed they were searching for grounders—or clues on contacting them. Not that Bellamy had any interest in making friends with the grounders. Now, his only priority was finding Octavia. If anything had happened to her, like…Charlotte... He could never forgive himself. A hand squeezed lightly around his arm.
"It won't be the same as Charlotte." Valerie tried to reassure both herself and Bellamy. Bellamy tried to nod in agreement, and he decided to pick up the pace. Roma approached him and intertwined her fingers in hers. Bellamy shook her off him.
"Not now," Bellamy said. A slight glance at Valerie revealed she hadn't noticed that interaction. She would never let him hear the end of it. Valerie had put her hair in a low, messy bun with curls falling off around it. She talked with Finn, and they seemed to get along. Bellamy wondered what they talked about. If Roma was disappointed, she didn't show it. Roma was a beautiful girlwithlong brown hair and brown eyes. They had slept together once, and she has pestered for more after that, a total turn-off.
"Come on, Blake, we both need it," Roma said light-heartedly. Bellamy wanted to snarl at her, but Valerie's laughstopped him.
"Look, let's focus on Octavia. She's the only one who matters right now," Bellamy said, hoping Roma would back off. Some other teens carried torches, and one held a light cell. He walked over to a hill and shone the light downhill. He had brown skin, a broad nose, and full lips. He had brown eyes and short black hair.
"Look! Over here!" He called out. The others rushed towards him.
"Did you find anything, Connor?" Bellamy asked. Connor pointed to something hanging in the bush.
"Is that Octavia's?" Connor asked Bellamy. Bellamy looked down. It could be. He needed to get down there.
"Rope," Bellamy said, and one of the others handed him one. Finn came forward.
"What are you doing?" Finn asked.
"We need the rope to get back up. Flashlight." Bellamy turned to Connor, who complied without any words. Bellamy tied the rope to a tree behind them and went downhill first to look at the clue. Finn stood on top of the hill beside Valerie and looked expectantly. Bellamy glanced at Valerie before he confirmed the thing in the bush.
"It's hers; I'm going all the way down," Bellamy said before disappearing in the darkwith the flashlight.
-Wells Group—
Wells wanted to contact the grounders, but first, they needed to scout the area for potential grounder activity. Hopefully, there will be a chance for negotiations. He brought Jasper, Murphy and Mbege with him. Jasper and Mbege were good in stealth and listened to orders. The only loose cannon was Murphy; Wells hoped Murphy wouldn't fuck anything up.
"Why the fuck do we need to be friends with grounder scum?" Murphy spat from the back of the group. Wells took a deep breath.
"Because… We can't make a life here if we're at war with them… Ok, guys, gather around; Bellamy told you all that we're searching for Octavia while both scouting for traces of grounders. That's only partly true." Wells told them. Jasper and Mbege raised their eyebrows in confusion. Murphy scoffed while he fiddled with a stick.
"Yeah, and you decided to be the leader again." Murphy spat at the group. Jasper and Mbege stepped back awkwardly. Wells closed his eyes with every fibre in his body, begging him to scream at Murphy.
"Yeah, actually, I am." Wells snapped. This was the first time his diplomatic mask cracked, and it had to be because of fucking John Murphy. But to hell with it if it works.
"You got a problem with that, Murphy?" Wells snarled. Murphy's smirk faded a bit. Everyone knew that within that warning, an unspoken promise was made. Fuck up, and you're out. And that meant out of the entire camp, out on your own. And nobody would question it. Murphy seemed to realise this.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever…" Murphy scoffed. Wells gave a strained smile.
"Okay, good. Now, back to business. No, we're not looking for Octavia at this moment. Of course, we will keep an eye out if we find her. But our main objective is to find grounders and hopefully contact their leaders." Wells explained. Jasper furrowed his eyes.
"So, the others are looking for Octavia directly, then…" Jasper reasoned. Wells nodded and pulled out a map.
"We will explore this area right here by the old Washington, DC." Wells pointed to the map. Murphy leaned in, staring at the map with a deadpan expression, but to everyone's surprise, he only grunted in agreement.
"I'm not sure we'll get this far, but this will get their attention," Wells smirked momentarily. Jasper stared at the map for a moment and clapped his hands. Mbege
"Well, we better get moving then, " he replied. Right after, the group got moving.
- The Ark -
After talking with his son and friends, Jaha decided to look into the security cameras surrounding the particular room Johnson told them about. Finding nothing, he decided to get Sinclair in secret to check for any backups.
"Sinclair, can you help me with… My computer, I can't get yesterday's report to upload." Jaha lied. He can't trust anyone now, and even though Sinclair seemed like he could be trusted, he never knew who could listen in.
"Uhh… Okay, sure. Give me a moment. I'm currently wrapping up on a pressure monitor," Sinclair replied. After half an hour, Sinclair knocked at Jahas door. Jaha let him in with a curt smile.
"Thank you for coming here. I lied to you on the comm. I need you for something else," Jaha explained. Sinclair raised his eyebrows in confusion.
"What do you need help with, sir?" Sinclair asked. Jaha motioned him to behind the computer and showed the security footage.
"Can you check if someone has tampered with the security footage? I need to check something." Jaha replied. Sinclair paused for a moment before beginning the work. After some moments, Sinclair seemed to find something.
"Someone's been rushed and sloppy. They forgot about deleting the backup saves." Sinclair explained. Sinclair seemed to take a sharp breath. Jaha immediately went to Sinclair.
"What? Did you find them?" Jaha asked. Sinclair looked up from the screen, which showed Valerie hiding behind some crates while Sydney and Shumway talked, confessing not only of treason but of the killing of Clara and Henry Smith.
"It seems like Johnson was speaking the truth," Jaha confirmed.
"Then it seems like that gas leak years ago wasn't an accident after all." Sinclair nodded. Jaha turned on his radio and radioed Kane.
"Kane, are you available.?" Jaha maintained a monotone tone. Kane replied after a short time.
"Yes, chancellor, what do you need?" He replied. Jaha took a minute to gather himself of the upcoming shitstorm that was going to hit the ark with the following few words.
"Sir?" Kane asked.
"As the chancellor of the ark, I'm ordering the arrest of Sydney and Shumway for the following charges. Murder and treason, they are to be interrogated to reveal their accomplices in their crimes." Jaha ordered, and silence rang out from behind the radio. After what seemed like whatever, Kane answered.
"It will be done."
-Bellamys group, Valeries pov—
Valerie should really stop judging people without knowing them. She knows this and repeatedly tells herself that people can surprise her... And now Finn Collins had surprised her by actually being fun to talk with.
The first light of dawn peeked over the horizon, enveloping the trees and their surroundings in a beautiful, soft glow. As lovely as it was, there was no way to find tracks in this light. Therefore, to Bellamy's dismay, the group decided to rest momentarily.
"Don't get comfortable; we're leaving as soon as those lights hit the ground," Bellamy ordered while he tapped his foot, staring at the shadows. Valerie walked over and dragged him down to a log.
"Sit." She ordered with a smirk and sat beside him, closing her eyes and basking in the sun that started to warm up the forest. Bellamy grunted in disagreement but didn't dare to refuse.
"Let's breathe for a minute; I can only be awake for so long." She yawned. Some other group members followed suit and sat down on their logs. Everyone seemed to relax.
"Johnson, I have a question: Why don't we know who you are? We all took Earth class, and I don't remember you," Finn said a few meters away. Valerie opened her eyes to find everyone staring at her.
"What kind of question is that? Why am I a nobody?" She laughed, expecting a joke from Finn. When it never came, she stood up and put her hands on her hips, studying the forest. Before she could answer, Bellamy looked up at her hesitating form and got up.
"Let's get moving; I couldn't care less about this bullcrap. Finn, where to next." Bellamy said, unexpectedly saving Valerie from an embarrassing moment. She didn't want to talk about everything right now.
The group found a set of tracks and broken branches that led them to a cave entrance.
"The tracks lead inside this cave," Finn confirmed. Bellamy went inside without any hesitation, and the others followed soon after. The cave was more significant than expected, and it took a minute before they approached a huddled girl fiddling with a lock in front of an unconscious grounder.
"Bellamy?" she asked.
"Octavia." Bellamy rushed over and embraced her in a brief hug.
"Get the key, " she said, and Bellamy picked it up immediately. Valerie approached the grounder and looked down at his unconscious form. He had similar clothes to those Alaric had on him when he rescued her. She must be from the same tribe or clan, as she surmised the grounders adopted a tribe lifestyle.
"Connor, Dax, and Myles go watch the entrance," Bellamy ordered. And hesat Octavia free.
Valerie sat down and studied him.
"I wonder if you know Alaric." She whispered absentmindedly. And shestood up. She turned her head away to talk with the others, but a blinding pain from her Achilles heel stopped her, and she collapsed on the ground.
"Valerie, watch out!" Finn yelled out as he pushed her away from an incoming dagger to the gut.
"Shit!" Bellamy yelled as he attacked the grounder with a spear; the grounder took control of the spear and pushed Bellamy to the ground with the spear pointed directly at Bellamy's throat. Bellamy's hands bled against the strain of stopping the spear.
"Stop! That's my brother!" Octavia yelled from Finn's side. Valerie knew that if she didn't do anything right now, Bellamy would die. She grabbed the metal pan and limped on one foot, slightly wobbling. She gathered all her strength and hit that grounder in the head, and the body collapsed on the ground.
"Ahh fuck my foot." She limped over to Finn, gasping from pain. One look at Finn eased her pain.
"Maybe I shouldn't complain." Valerie tore her tank top to the top of her stomach and wrapped itaround Finn and the knife.
"Octavia, ensure this knife stays inand keep pressure on it," Valerie ordered. Octavia nodded, and Valerie called out to the others guarding the entrance.
"Do we have that tent in case of acid fog?" She asked Connor. He nodded and pulled it out of his backpack. Valerie nodded and motioned him to help her fold it into a makeshift carrier.
"Let's put Finn on this, you and you carry him with this", Valerie motioned to Myles and Connor. Bellamy turned to the grounder lying there and motioned to Dax.
"You strong enough to carry that grounder?" Bellamy asked. Dax only nodded as he lifted the grounder over his shoulder with barely a grunt.
"We must get Finn to camp and contact the ark now," Valerie said urgently. Everyone began walking out of the cave. Valerie started to limp before a set of hands wrapped around her feet and back and lifted her.
"Let me down now", Valerie hissed. Bellamy smirked.
"Come on now and sit still like a good girl." Bellamy taunted her. Valerie sputtered, and her face reached a new shade of red.
"Oh, looks like you can get redder." He remarked.
"Shut the fuck up." She snapped and turned her head away.
Wells group.
Wells and the others had gotten far and closed in on what they assumed were a lot of grounders. The thick forest provided ample hiding spots, and the group felt the trees watching their every move.
"Wells, I don't think this is a good idea…" Jasper muttered. Murphy looked around, no amusement in his face.
"I actually agree with Jasper on this one," Murphy added. Mbege walked at the back and clutched his weapon.
"I don't like this," Mbege agreed before his entire body seemed to lift to the sky, and he disappeared into the trees.
"Shit!" Jasper cried out. The trio stopped and stared into the forest, butno traces of Mbege were visible.
"What happened?" Murphy snapped. Wells looked desperately around the forest for a trace of Mbege before a body came sailing right before their feet. There was Mbege covered in a stab wound, dead.
"Run!" Wells yelled before they ran. Several grounders ran around them. Wells halted for a moment, pausing Jasper and Murphy.
"What the fuck are you doing? Let's fucking run!" Murphy yelled. Wells decided to take a risk and motioned for Murphy and Jaspers tobe silent. Wells only hoped they spoke English.
"Grounders! We come in peace. Let us talk to your leaders!" Wells yelled out. The grounders running around them halted before disappearing.
"We are so fuuuuucked right now", Murphy cursed. Jasper groaned in agreement. After what seemed like forever, grounders approached them, put hoods over their heads and dragged them away.
-In an undisclosed hideout.
The grounders brought the trio to an old wooden shack. But they left the hoods on. A door opened, and two sets of footsteps approached them. Wells had to rub his eyes momentarily when the hood was ripped off. Two male grounders stared down at them; both held large knives. Wells gathered himself for a moment before beginning to speak.
"I'm not sure what we have done to offend you. But we wish you no harm. We only want to establish an alliance with you." Wells tried to reason. One of the grounders stepped forward. He was probably in his fifties with scars all over his arms and face. He had thick brown hair and a full beard with grey strands mixed in. The grounder seemed to miss one of his hands.
"You are a threat to our people." The grounder only stated.
"Why are we a threat? We haven't done anything?" Wells argued.
"At nightfall, you will die." He replied.
"Wow, Wells, off to a good start now," Murphy said sarcastically. Wells glanced at them, unsure.
"There is still time." He spoke.
As they waited, Wells began biting the rope tied around his hands. The others noticed this and started doing the same. Wells managed to get his hands loose.
"When I say now, you push the grounders, and I'll take his knife," Wells ordered. The others looked like they wanted to protest but were interrupted by loud footsteps. The same grounder from before suddenly slammed the door open with his foot and walked in, holding the same knife. The teenagers froze, and Wells hid his hands.
"Now, who dies first? I've been waiting to kill people." The man smirked with glee. Wells counted down and signalled to the other boys.
"NOW!" Wells yelled out, and they pushed the grounder down with a surprised yelp. Wells grabbed the knife in the heat of the moment and stabbed the grounder in the neck, killing him instantly. Other grounders came rushing in; Jasper, who was closest to the door, tripped the other two, and Wells stabbed them again in their backs.
It seemed like there weren't any more grounders. The kids began by searching the bodies for weapons as the grounders had taken theirs. Wells strapped the knife to his belt and stood up, adrenalin running through his body.
"Shit, Wells, you're shaking", Jasper stated. Wells stared at his hands covered in blood and wiped the blood off, deciding to focus on the matter at hand. Murphy stepped out of the cabin and inspected the area.
"Guys, I don't think there are any more grounders." He spoke.
"Let's bury them and get the hell away from here, " Wells said.
End.
Okay. So, I lied earlier about there being some changes. There will be many changes. Fun times! Is anyone wondering why the grounders chose to attack them? Hmm, strange. And what about Dax?
I want to give a shout-out to Drakena for the reviews. It's always appreciated when someone reviews! Thank you!
