The Photo Evidence
June 21, 11:37 AM, District Court, Defendant Lobby No. 3
J was in the lobby with a sad looking Jaden and also with Kairi. It was rough but they manage to prove for now that the case wasn't so clear cut as was once thought.
"Phew, that was a close one." J said as she sips some oil sitting on the couch.
"I know you were giving it your all to defend me." Jaden said to J sadly. "But I could feel the death penalty hanging in the air…"
"I felt like I was pretty close to dying myself…" J said with a nod.
"But you were wonderful out there." Kairi said with a smile. "You listened carefully, made theories and tricked everyone into believing you."
"Th-Thanks. Wait…Tricked?" J said confused.
"That must be the 'lawyer's' secret technique, right?" Kairi asked her.
Jaden thinking on it asked J "By the way…Is the next witness who I think it is…?"
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's Todd Snap." J said with a nod.
"Oh…Guess there's no escaping him, huh?" Jaden said sadly then looks serious and said "Remember, J! You promised you'd save me! If you lose, me and my bro's ghosts will come after you and haunt you!"
"Your brother…?" Kairi said thinking and then asked realizing "Um, are you talking about Master Terra?"
"Yeah. Do you remember him, Kairily?" Jaden asked smiling. "My brother was a super good lawyer! He was also J's teacher."
"…Oh, I didn't know that…" Kairi said thinking.
Soon it was time to go back into the Courtroom
June 21, 11:43 AM, District Court, Courtroom No. 2
Once everyone was in the courtroom and the audience was seated Maccadam bangs his gavel to silence and said "Court will now reconvene. Now, the first order of…" He was then whipped by Courtney "Oww!"
"I don't want to hear it, old bot." Courtney told him, whip at the ready. She then lowers it and said "After I call my witness, sit there quietly and watch like a good little bot."
"Y-Yes, sir." Maccadam said nervous.
"Bring in the photographer who witnessed the channeling!" Courtney states with a smile.
Soon Todd Snap was on the witness stand. Courtney then said to him "Witness. Your name and occupation, if you please."
"Hey, J! How are you doing?" Todd said looking at J smiling and waving.
"Just fine…" J said sweat dropping at that.
"Sorry about this. Didn't exactly have a choice, you know…?" Todd admits rubbing his head he is then whipped "Yowza!"
"Name and occupation." Courtney said whip at the ready glaring.
"H-Hey! What the heck?!" Todd said in shock. He looks at Maccadam "Hey, judge! This here is violence against my fair self!"
"That's fine." Maccadam said shaking his head.
"'That's fine'?! That ain't fine! That's a whip!" Todd yells out. He is then whipped again "Eeeeeek!"
"There's no need for foolish outcries from foolishly foolish fools." Courtney said firmly "Just hurry up and testify about what happened on the day of the murder."
"I haven't even gotten to say my name and job yet…" Todd told her. Courtney mearly whips her own bench and then readies it again without breaking her glaring stare. Intimidated Todd said quickly "The name's Todd Snap, paranormal photographer, and I'm here to testify!"
"Now, now, let's all be one big happy family…Okay…?" Maccadam said gulping.
Todd then begins to give his 'Witness's Account' saying "Only the Doc and the defendant went into the Channeling Chamber. We were waiting outside the door and then, 'bang!' we hear this gunshot! Miss. Lawyer there broke the door down, and we rushed into the room. Inside was the dead victim, and the defendant, waving a pistol around. I swear, other than those two, there was no one else in the room."
"And did you take a picture of the scene right after the murder took place?" Maccadam asked him.
"Reckon course!" Todd said with a smile.
"Eh? ...Excuse me?" J asked confused.
"Reckon course! It's short for 'You reckon?! Of course I did!'" Todd explained and is then whipped "Ahhhhh!"
"Does it look like I care?" Courtney asked annoyed. "Just hurry up and show your picture to the court."
'The moment of truth. What will be in that picture?' J thinks on it.
"Umm, let's see here…This here's the picture!" Todd said taking out the picture and lets it be scanned and shown on the view screens.
The pictue showed the Channeling Chamber, Jaden stood with his back to the camera, holding the gun in his right hand. He was looking down on the dead body of Hugo Strange.
Maccadam looking at it said, "It would certainly seem that only the defendant and the victim were in that room." Todd's Photo was added to the Court Record.
"Are you ready, Miss. Serial Designation J?" Courtney asked smiling petting Camerupt.
'I will clear all doubt about Jaden though this cross-examination…Just watch me!' J thinks firmly and begins her cross examination she starts with the first statement about only Jaden and Hugo going in to the room saying "Hold it! Was it really only those two that went it?!"
"Objection!" Courtney called out and said grinning wagging her finger "What are you blabbering about?! You were there too, were you not?!" J winces and sweatdrops at that "Why don't you answer that yourself? Was it really just the two of them?" Courtney asked J grinning.
"…Yes. Dr. Stranger and Jaden were the only two that went into the room…" J said to that.
"H-Hold on! We can't have the defence testifying against its own client!" Maccadam said shocked at that.
"Anyway, folks only the two of them went into the Channeling Chamber, you here?" Todd said smiling.
"But you knew that from the very beginning, didn't you?" Courtney said grinning.
J sighs and moves on pressing the second statement about the gunshot saying "Hold it! Was it really a gunshot?!"
"Objection!" Courtney calls out and said "Are you insane?! You must have heard it as well!" J winces and sweat drops again "Why don't you testify for the court, Miss. Serial Designation J? Was It really a gunshot?"
"…Yes. I think it was something that sounded like a gunshot…" J said to that.
"And why are we here listening to the defence testify?!" Maccadam asked at that.
'…And the world becomes just a little crueler…' J thinks to herself.
"I heard a gunshot a long time ago, so I know. And I tell you that was a gunshot I heard." Todd explained.
J then presses the fourth statement about what was seen in the room saying "Hold it! Are you sure it was the defendant, Jaden Yuki?!"
"Sure, I'm sure!" Todd said nodding.
'Todd seems awful confident in his testimony…' J thinks but decides to press harder saying "Todd! Please, think back to that day one more time."
"Wh-What are you getting at?" Todd asked at that.
"Remember what you said when we broke into the room…?" J told him
We flashback to the day of the murder as Past J and Past Todd break into the room and see Jaden? standing their
"…I was…murdered…" Past Jaden? said to them as a photo was taken.
Past J looks at Todd and asked "Todd! At a time like this?!"
"Times like this are perfect for snapping up shots!" Past Todd told her "But anyway…what's going on here?! This person…Are they….Jaden?!"
We return to the present as J then said to Todd "When you saw the murderer at that time, you couldn't even tell if it was Jaden Yuki or not! Am I correct?!"
"Ah, um, well, you see…" Todd said rubbing his head.
The audience murmur at that loudly and Maccadam bang his gavel to quiet them and said "Order! Mr. Snap! Ou are here to present accurate testimony!"
"Yeah, ah, s sorry." Todd admits
'Good. This shifts things back to my side…' J said nodding
"For a defence lawyer, your defence is terribly lacking, Miss. Serial Designation J." Courtyney said arms folded. J looks surprised. "Witness. Think back to when those two entered the Channeling Chamber."
"When they entered…?" Todd asked thinking.
"One of those people that entered the chamber was Jaden Yuki, correct?" Courtney asked.
"Yeah, that's right!" Todd said smiling.
'Yeah…It was Jaden that went in.' J thinks sweating.
"Hmmm…" Maccadam lets out thinking "It looks like we've come to a collective conclusion. The person in this picture is most certainly Jaden Yuki."
"Exactly." Courtney said nodding.
'Ratta! And I'm trapped like one…Again!' J thinks sweating. She then presses the last statement about no one else in the room saying "Hold it! Are you absolutely certain of that?!"
"Sure am! But that old wizard chased us out of the room, so…" Todd said to that.
''Old Wizard?' Does he mean Xehanort Yuki?' J thinks on it.
"But there was no one else in there, and you know it!" Todd said smiling.
'The Channeling Chamber was very dark, almost pitch black…Was there really no one else in there? What about…?' J thinks and then said "What about…behind the folding screen? Did you check back there?"
"Reckgiven!" Told told her.
"Huh? What in the…?" J said confused.
"Reckgiven! You know! 'You reckon?! That's a given!'" Todd said proudly. "I took a good look around the room once! There ain't no way about was hanging out behind that folding screen!"
"Hmm…If I may have a work with you, Mr. Snap…" Maccadam said looking at him.
"Wh-What? You got a problem?" Todd asked him.
"Reckgiven!...I mean, I am having a little difficulty in understanding you." Maccadam told him. He was about to get into a lecture but is then whipped silencing him.
"Now then, Miss. Serial Designation J, do you see a problem with the testimony or don't you?" Courtney asked J.
'Argh! Just as I thought, there is nothing wrong with his testimony!' J thinks on it sweating 'I was with him, so I know he's telling the truth…'
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Enough. It seems that there are no issues with Mr. Snap's testimony."
"At the time of the crime, only two people were in the Channeling Chamber: the victim, Dr. Hugo Strange, and the defendant, Jaden Yuki." Courtney said simply.
"Hmmm…" Maccadam thinks on it looking on the photo "The face of the defendant can not be verified in this picture. However, if we think about the circumstances, it would have to be the defendant."
'What am I going to do?! If I just let this go…' J thinks worried.
"What is it, Miss. J? You look as if you have something to say…" Maccadam asked looking at J.
'If I make one wrong move, I'm going to have Maccadam against me…' J thinks about it 'Is there anything I can present that would prove it's not Jaden in that photo?' Sadly she had no evidence to prove it.
"Well, Miss. J?" Maccadam asked.
"Nothing, Your Honor…" J said to him.
"That's very smart of you, Miss. Serial Designation J." Courtney said smiling as she pets Camerupt. "You really should give up trying to prove this is not Jaden Yuki."
'I didn't say anything about giving up!' J thinks glaring 'I just don't have the right piece of evidence to prove my argument…'
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "That's enough!"
'I-Is this it…? Is this all I could do…?' J thinks to herself worried.
"I think it is quite obvious to this court that a verdict of not guilty is not possible." Maccadam explained.
"I told you." Courtney said smiling "Totally, 100% impossible."
"Miss. Wittebane, do you have any further questions for this witness?" Maccadam asked.
"Having established the defendant's guilt, further questioning won't be needed." Courtney states.
"What about the defence? No further questions, I preseume?" Maccadam asked J.
'I…I couldn't protect Jaden…' J thinks sadly and said "The defence….The defence…" She closes her eyes
…J…" A familiar male voice and image of Terra flashes in her head. "…J, you can't make that kind of face…A lawyer is someone who smiles…no matter how bad it gets!..."
"T-Terra!" J said in surprise. She opens her eyes and to her surprise standing next to her on the defence bench was Terra, but this time he was in Kairi's clothes, which changes to better fit him a bit for example instead of a skirt they were shorts and also his brown hair was red and in Kairi's hairstyle.
"I guess I made it just in time, wouldn't you say?" Terra said with a smile.
"Y-You…But….Karin!" J said putting it together.
"Her clothes ARE a bit small…and I used some keyblade magic to least make them a bit more boyish for my sake." Terra explained then gets a serious look "Anyway, what are you waiting for, J?! Let's go!"
"B-But how?! She's already taken away every advantage!" J told Terra.
"The advantage is still in your hand!" Terra told her. "Think carefully, one more time, about what you saw in the Channeling Chamber. Do you remember what you told me yesterday?"
We flashback again to the day of the murder only this time after J and Todd burst into the room.
"D-Dr. Strange!" Past J said in shock. She then sees a flash and hears a camera click.
"…I…I was…murdered…" Past Jaden? said in a daze.
"W-What?!" Past J said shocked then another flash and camera click. She looks to Todd and says "Todd! At a time like this?!"
"Times like this are perfect for snapping up shots!" Past Todd tells her.
We return to the present as Terra smiles saying "You see…There is one final piece to this puzzle."
"Terra…?" J said to that.
"Question Todd one more time, J." Terra tells her. "I don't know if he's doing it unconsciously or on purpose but…he's not testifying truthfully."
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Now then, this court would like to end the cross-examination period."
"Hold it!" J calls out and said "Please wait, your Honor!" She bangs her hands down "The defence would like to request that the witness testify one more time."
"Overruled." Maccadam told her shaking his head "I'm afraid you're too late, Miss. J. The cross-examination has already ended. Furthermore any more unrelated…" He is then whipped "Eeeeeek!"
"It's fine. I'll allow another testimony." Courtney said with a grin "A Wittebane's case is perfect. Absolutely flawless. And what better time than this for you to see that."
"B-But…I mean…I have some place I must go after this…" Maccadam said nervous only to be whipped again "Mmph! A-Al-Alright! I'll allow it! Mr. Snap! Hurry and give us another testimony!"
"Well…geez…What am I supposed to talk about?" Todd asked thinking.
"Please tell us once more, what happened when you burst into the Channeling Chamber." J suggested.
"Okay! You got it!" Todd said smiling.
"See, you got through to the judge somehow, right?" Terra said to J smiling.
'Well, actually it was Courtney's whip that got through to him…' J thinks sweatdropping.
Todd then gives his 'Witness's Account, Pt. 2' saying "When we broke into that room, all I could focus on was Jaden. I was…uh, kind of scared of the dead body so I didn't take a good look at it. I'm really bad when it comes to blood and ghosts and stuff. But I still managed to point my camera at Jaden and take a shot!"
"Nothing sounds different from before…" Maccadam said to that.
'Some parts of his testimony were very vague.' J thinks on it 'I should press him on those sections!'
"Struggle all you like as you taste the bitterness of your defeat." Courtney said with a smile petting Camarupt. "Well, amuse me with your useless questions, Miss. Serial Designation J. I'm waiting…"
J cross examines Todd. She starts pressing the second statement about Todd not focusing on the dead body saying "Hold it! Then perhaps that body was not Dr. Strange at all!"
"Eh?! W-Well…I guess that's possible…" Todd said thinking.
"Objection!" Courtney calls out and said "If the body inside that room was not that of Dr. Strange, then whose body was it, Miss. Serial Designation J?!" She readies her whip.
"Well, what if it was that of Jaden Yuki after the channeling? Or maybe…" J said thinking only to be whipped by Courtney "Oww!"
"Foolish fool spouting foolish foolishness, just as I expect of a foolish fool such as you." Courtney said firmly "If that were the case, then that would mean that Jaden Yuki is, in fact, dead." She ships her bench and said "And that would make the defendant's chair quite a lonely, place, wouldn't it?!"
'Urk…Sorry, Jaden…' J thinks and then presses the last statement about taking a photo saying "Hold it! Two, right?"
"T-Two what?" Todd asked her looking away.
"Two shots." J said smiling. "You took two shots."
"But…Only one has been submitted as evidence!" Maccadam said shocked holding up the photo submitted.
J slams her hands on the bench and points at Todd said "Mr. Snap! Where is the other picture you have been withholding?!"
The made the audience murmur loudly that Maccadam bangs his gavel to silence. Todd then said "No, no, no! You've got it all wrong! It's not me! I-I didn't mean anything bad! I know I can be a little jerkish at times, but I ain't evil!"
'Well, at least he knows himself…' J thinks nodding.
"Then why have you not shown this 'other picture' to the court yet?" Maccadam asked him.
"Well, ain't obvious?!" Todd said and points at Courtney "That prosecutor woman told me to shut my trap about it!"
"W-What?!" J said shocked. "C…Courtney!"
This made the audience murmur in shock and Maccadam bangs his gavel to silence them and said "M-M-Miss. Wittebane! Y-Y-You…You're hiding critical evidence…!"
Courtney remains silent stroking her Camarupt and J looks at her and thinks 'Unforgivable, Courtney Wittebane. Suppressing evidence like this…You're as bas as your father!...Argh! I'm so mad that even my throat's clenching up! I'd better let the judge handle this…'
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Miss. Wittebane. Would you care to explain yourself to this court?"
"I thought this picture was not important, and thus, felt no need to submit it. That's all." Coutney explains holding up the second photo.
"H-How could you thing…?!" J asked in shock.
"The pictures were more or less the same, so why bother with the second?" Courtney told her. "I mean, it just so much more trouble that it's worth for me to submit this as evidence."
"'M-More trouble that it's worth'?! How…How can you say that?!" J asked in more shock.
"If you want to see it that badly, I'll submit it." Courtney said smiling. She then submits it and Todd's Photo 2 was added to the Court Record. The photo shows Jaden? facing the camera but it was clear he was a she and blood covered his clothes.
Maccadam looks at it on the screen confused and asked "Wh-What is…? What is this picture?!"
"It's obviously the second picture the witness took that day at the scene of the crime." Courtney explained smiling. "Well, it's a little off-centre, but that's what you get with a nervous amateur."
"Um…I think the important point here is the person in this picture!" Maccadam points out. "This is most defiantly NOT Jaden Yuki!" The audience murmur in shock and the judge bangs his gavel and asked, "What is the meaning of this?!"
'This might be the break I was looking for…' J thinks 'Now, should I or should I not insist that the person in this picture is not Jaden?' She chooses to go with option B and said "Your Honor! As you can plainly see, the person in the picture is not Jaden Yuki!"
"Y-Yes, I see that…" Maccadam said nodding. "It's not just his face! His whole body has taken on a different appearance and gender!"
"There is only one conclusion that can be drawn, then." J said in agreement "That somehow, this other person snuck in and traded places with the defendant!"
The members of the court chatter loudly and Maccadam bangs his gavel saying "Order! Order! Order! Well, yes I believe you are correct, Miss. J!" He nods continuing "The person who was inside the Channeling Chamber was not Jaden Yuki!"
"Terra! We did it!" J said to her mentor smiling.
"…You're too soft." Terra said to J.
"Huh?" J said confused.
"You're softer than Uncle Xehanort's strawberry desserts, J." Terra told her. "Take a plook at Prosecutor Wittebane's face."
J looks over at Courtney and sees her petting her Camarupt with a smile on her face and thinks 'S-She's…smiling…?!'
"I think you had better continue to worry, Miss. Serial Designation J." Courtney said smiling.
"M-Miss. Wittebane! What do you mean by that?" Maccadam asked surprised.
"Your Honor. I would like for you to take a lot at this picture." Courtney said bringing up another picture on the screens. It showed the Detention Centre Visitor's Room where J was talking to Terra who was being channelled through Jaden. Courtney explained "This was taken yesterday at the Detaintion Center's Visitor's Room. This is Miss. Serial Designation and the defendant Jaden Yuki during her visit…"
"Jaden Yuki?" Maccadam said confused. "But…Isn't this a totally different person?!"
Courtney whips her whip and says firmly "He looks this way because he is obviously in the middle of channeling a spirit!"
The members of court murmur in surprise and Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "It's unbelievable…That he can…"
"Yet, it is the truth." Courtney said with a smile. She explained "When Jaden Yuki is in that state, he physically changes into the person he's calling!" The members of the court murmur in surprise and Maccadam is in stunned silence.
"Miss. Wittebane. A word, if I may." Terra said firmly looking at Courtney.
'T-Terra?!' J thinks shocked
"Taking pictures of someone during a private visit is illegal." Terra told her. "Surely, you must know that, that picture can't be submitted as evidence."
Courtney looks at him then said smiling "Obviously, I know this picture is illegal. But I never intended to submit it as evidence in the first place!"
'Wh-What is she…?' J thinks to herself
"From the moment I showed this picture to the court, this case became all mine." Courtney said smiling. "After all, this image has now been forever burned into the judge's mind." Maccadam remains silent looking at the picture.
'I…I don't have even a buzz word to say…' J thinks sweating.
"It looks like we've been had." Terra admits.
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "I don't claim to understand this, and I still cannot believe it…Are you saying that this person…this person is the defendant, Jaden Yuki?!"
'If I give up here, the trial will end!' J thinks at it 'But…If I slip up and say something wrong, it will cost me...Is there any way I can prove that the person in this picture is not Jaden?!' She thinks and decides she can prove it saying slaming her hands down "Your Honor!"
"Oh! The fire has returned to your LED eyes, I see." Maccadam said looking at J.
"This picture…Within this picture lies a critical contradiction to all the testimony up until now." J explains.
"A contradiction?!" Maccadam said surprised.
"So, you think you've spotted a problem with this picture? Then earn your keep." Courtney said smiling bringing the picture up on the screens. "Why don't you point out exactly what is strange in this picture for the court?"
"Take that!" J states as she points to the Jacket sleeve "Please direct your attention here!
…T-to the sleeve?" Maccadam asked "But…But there isn't anything odd about it…"
"And that is exactly what is so odd." J states slamming hands down. "Something that should be there is suddenly missing."
"'Should be there'…?" Courtney asked her then flinches worried when she realized what J was getting at "Aaaaah!"
"There was a bullet hole in the sleeve of the defendant's jacket!" J explains "If that's the case, then if should be in this picture as well!"
The members of the court murmur. Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Miss. Wittebane! Y-You…You intended to hide this valuable piece of evidence?!" Courtney remains silent "You will most certainly be assigned a penalty for this!"
'Alright. This should do some major damage to her argument...' J thinks smiling proudly.
"Don't celebrate yet." Terra told J.
"You like to bring down the mood, don't you?" J asked him.
"Take a look at Miss. Wittebane's face." Terra told her.
J looks ant see Courtney smiling still and petting her Camarupt and thinks 'Argh! She's got that condescending grin plastered all over her face again.'
Courtney gives her curtsy bow and said "…Tsk, tsk, jumping the gun again, I see. Your Honor! I would like to extend an apology on behalf of those incompetent fools."
"Wh-What do you mean? And what 'incompetent fools'…?" Maccadam asked her.
"If those fools down at the precinct hadn't missed the bullet hole, I would have gotten a report about it." Courtney explained. "As I didn't, I could not have known this picture was of any value to this case."
"Hmm, I see…" Maccadam said thinking.
'She's lying though her teeth! I know it!' J thinks on it 'That human girl knew about everything! The bullet hole, the picture everything!'
"But you can't prove that" Terra said to J. He smiles and said "Courtney Wittebane's idea of a 'perfect case' is quite fascinating, don't you think?"
"Your Honor. You need not worry." Courtney states. "If you must assign a penalty, I'll personally make sure that detective gets what's coming." She whips her bench and said "I'm sure there will be a great ganshing of teeth at his next salary discussion."
'Poor N…' J thinks sweat dropping, poor drone can't catch a break.
Maccadam bangs his gavel and brings up the photo and the jacket on the screens as he said "In any case, this is a very big problem! When the defendant was taken into custody, his jacket had a bullet hole in its sleeve. However, from this photo, it would appear that right have the shooting, there was none!" Courtney remains silent.
"The judge is confused by this strange twist of events." Terra said thinking. "This is your chance, J! Load all you've got into this one shot, alright?!"
"Got it!" J said nodding and thinks 'Watch this, J!' She slams her hands down and said "Your Honor! There is only one logical explanation for the contradiction! The defendant's sleeve had a bullet in it. However, this person's clearly does not. There can only be one explanation. The person who shot Dr. Strange was not the defendant, but a different person altrogether!"
"Wha-Whaaaaat?!" Courtney said in shock wincing.
The audience chatter in surprise and Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Order! Order! Order! If order is not resorted, I will suspend this trial!" He is whipped "Oww!"
J is then whipped "Aaah!"
For some reason Todd was whipped and he said "Why me?!"
"The defence's…The defence's argument is a complete mess!" Courtney said in anger banging her bench.
"A complete mess? I fail to see how! Please, enlighten us." J asked her.
"Hey, witness!" Courtney said to Todd and whips him.
"Aah! What the heck?! Is that any way to ask a person a favor?!" Todd said annoyed.
"Be quiet you!" Courtney said in anger. "You were the one who said it was only the two of them when you entered the room!"
"Well, you know…" Todd said thinking.
"If you were lying, I swear that my whip and Camarupt will be the last thing you see!" Courtney said glaring.
"L-Look, sis…You're looking might scary so why don't we say you…" Todd said smiling but his whipped again "Waaah! I-I swear! I wasn't lying or nothing! There wasn't anyone else in there! Honest!"
"You see! Now riddle me this, Miss. Serial Designation J?! Where did the defendant vanish to?!" Courtney asked looking at J. "And where did this woman appear from?!"
"Umm…" J thinks sweating as she'll admit, Courtney really raised some good questions she didn't think about 'Why is it lately, all I want is to somehow actually cry…?'
Maccadam nods and said "Well, if the person in this picture is not the defendant, then this poses 2 very big questions. First, where did the defendant vanish to, and second, where did this person come from?"
"That's right! Now hurry up and answer, Miss. Serial Designation J!" Courtney demands.
"Come on! You can't fall apart here, Serial Designation J!" Terra told J.
'I can't believe that even Terra's calling me by my full name…' J thinks sweat dropping. 'But…I mean…How am I supposed to prove something like this?!'
"Had enough yet, Miss. Serial Designation J?" Courtney asked her. "Or do you think you have enough in you to turn things around even now?!"
'To 'turn things around'…' J thinks of it and thinks in her mind palace 'That's right. Terra always turn things around and change her perspective!'
"J…?" Terra said looking at her.
'So, where did this intruder appear from, and where did Jaden disappear to?' J thinks 'I need to look at this situation from a different angle! Let's see…What if before we broke in, the third person was already in the room… And what if Jaden had left that room somehow…If I could prove that either one of those conditions were true…'
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "Miss J. Let's hear what you've come up with."
"I think what happened before we forced our way into the Channeling Chamber is…Jaden had left the Channeling Chamber at some point!" J told the court. "And the defence can prove this!"
"Oh, how a foolish fool makes a foolish face while dreaming foolishly foolish dreams." Courtney said to that. "Jaden yuki was being looked after by his uncle, Xehanort Yuki." She whips the bench and said "The chances of him leaving the crime scene is lower than that detective's salary!"
"Anyway, let's see some evidence." Maccadam said to J after banging his gavel. "Prove that from the murder until the time of arrest, the defendant had left the room"
"Take that!" J said as she presents on the screens the Black Key and said "Mr. Snap. Do you remember this key?"
"Um…Well, I've seen it…Hey! That's the Channeling Chamber key, right?" Todd said remembering it. "Before the channeling started, Jaden locked the door from the inside with that…"
"The defendant himself locked the door…?" Courtney asked.
"Yeah! That's why we all couldn't get the door open." Todd said with a smile and nod. "That key's the only one of its kind, after all."
"Oh…One of a kind, you say?" Maccadam asked.
Courtney thinks then gets worried wincing as she realizes something, Camarupt comforts her as she says "Wait…Miss. Serial Designation J…"
"Yes?" J asked and thought 'It looks like she's catching on…'
"I'm afraid to ask, but…Why is the key currently in you possession?" Courtney asked her.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Maccadam asked confused.
"If Jaden Yuki locked himself in, then the key should have been with him." J explained smiling.
"Yes, agreed." Maccadam said nodding following.
"However, he did not have the key at the time of his arrest!" J continued.
"Aah! Well, ain't that a kick!" Todd said surprised. "So how come you're holding it?!"
"I got this as a present form a certain little girl." J said with a smile. She slams her hands on the bench and said "And that little girl was nowhere near the crime scene at the time!" This made the audience murmur in surprise.
"Th-Th-That's preposterous!" Courtney said in shock.
"This means that Jaden Yuki must have left the room!" J explained further. "If he had not, then I would not be holding this key you see before you!"
"N-Noooooooo!" Courtney cries out at that.
The audience chatter more and Maccadam bangs his gavel to silence them. After a while the audience were calm and the judge said "It seems we have come to an impasse." He brings up the picture "This picture has clearly captured the face of the murdere. However, is this person the defendant or not?"
"The defence is arguing that this person is not the defendant." Maccadam continued to state and brings up the Black Key "Furthermore, as proof, this key has been submitted at evidence. Miss. Wittebane."
"How. Can. This. Be?!" Courtney said in anger losing most of her monetone like voice.
"At this point in time, a verdict on the defendant's guilt is not possible." Maccadam told her.
"My perfect case! How is there a flaw in my perfect case!" Courtney said more annoyed. "Don't think you've won yet, Miss. Serial Designation J! I am a prodigy! I have never lost a case! And I don't intend to lose here in this courtroom to a fool like you!" She whips her bench and said "I don't care what I have to do…I will get my guilty verdict!"
Maccadam bangs his gavel and said "That's enough! If you would like to continue, do so in the lobby. Court will reconvene tomorrow at 10 AM. That is all. Court is adjourned." He bangs his gavel ending court for the day.
June 21, 1:32 PM, District Court, Defendant Lobby No. 3
J was in the lobby with Jaden and Kairi who was back to normal and well Jaden lets out in shock "Wooow! That was you Kairily?! You summoned my bro?!"
"Yes. I felt I had no choice…" Kairi said nodding.
"Great going Kairily!" Jaden said with a smile "I knew you were special! Hey, J, did you know?"
'…Umm, yeah. It's not like anyone else in there could done that.' J thinks at that.
"Hmm, J…" Jaden said thinking. "I know you're trying really hard and all, but…I really don't remember ever leaving that room."
"And I don't think that a third person…could have gone into that room." Kairi said thinking as well.
"Y-Yeah…" J said with a nod. "Well, at least we have until tomorrow to figure things out. Like, what happened in that room, for instance."
"Yeah. I'm counting on you!" Jaden said with a smile.
"Ah…I envy the two of you…" Kairi said happily.
"Oh, by the way, J." Jaden said with a thought "Do you think you could take Kairily back home for me?"
"Sure." J said with a nod and like to Kairi "Alright, Kairn. You ready to go buy some tickets?"
"Huh? A tik-ket?" Kairi asked confused.
'Poor thing…So sheltered.' J thinks at that shaking her head.
Well that was a tough trial but J bought some time and next time we will move on to continue the investigation.
