Prologue - A World without Korra

The world felt different now—there was a palpable shift in the air. Republic City, once brimming with the vibrant energy of hope, had grown quieter. Avatar Korra, the last of the cycle, had passed on, leaving the world uncertain. Her legacy lived on in the hearts of those she fought for, but now the White Lotus faced the greatest dilemma: the Avatar had died, and no one knew where the next one had reborn.

The White Lotus searched far and wide, from the icy peaks of the Northern Water Tribe to the dense populous of the Earth Kingdom. But the Avatar remained elusive, nowhere to be found. Despite their best efforts, the cycle had gone cold, and no one knew why.

As time passed, whispers of doubt crept in, and the White Lotus knew they had to act quickly. Fearing what would happen without the Avatar, the current Grandmaster along with the elemental sages concocted a plan to maintain order: they would create a false Avatar.

Enter Jade Beifong, a prodigy in her own right—one of the youngest and most skilled metalbenders in history, capable of lavabending as well. The granddaughter of Bolin and Opal Beifong, Jade's family name carried weight, and the White Lotus knew she could carry the mantle—at least, in the eyes of the public.

Jade, however, was more than aware of the lie that surrounded her. She wasn't the Avatar. But no one else could know. As she honed her bending abilities, perfecting her lavabending and metalbending under the watchful eye of the White Lotus, she had come to accept her role, even as it gnawed at her. She was only fifteen, yet already, her heart carried the weight of the world.

At the same time, across the vast Si Wong Desert, a boy named Tashi lived a life that could not be more different. Raised in an orphanage by an oasis, he worked tirelessly at an inn catering to traders and travelers passing through the desert. Tashi had no idea of the turmoil in the world outside his small oasis, where the sands stretched endlessly beneath the scorching sun. His life was simple: earthbending to lift crates, transporting goods acroos the desert using his proficiency in sand bending, tending to guests, and listening to stories of faraway lands, as the only way for him to pass time was experimenting on his bending as most of it was self taught, including the famed seismic sense, he hadn't mastered it yet but he was getting there.

But as the years passed, Tashi grew restless. His curiosity about the world beyond the horizon became unbearable. He longed to see Republic City, the beating heart of the world, known for its innovation, its culture, and—most of all—the pro-bending matches that captivated millions, as stories told by weary merchants and on the radio had only increased his longing for the journey.

With the money he'd saved from years of working, Tashi finally made the decision to leave. After a long, solitary journey across the desert, he found himself on a ferry bound for Republic City, unaware of the monumental role he was about to play in the world's history.
