Chapter Three

"H...hello. I...my name is Layla, m...may I sit with you? N...nobody else wants me to." A timid female's voice suddenly reached Michael's ears as he was sat on his own once more. However, this time though it was during dinner time. Michael sitting quietly under a willow tree, staring up at the blue skies when he heard her voice. His dark orbs looked down at her from behind a clown mask in which he'd liked to wear as it helps hide himself and somehow make him invisible. His eyes observed her once more, taking in the beauty that easily radiated from her, the same beauty in which he saw for the first time when she first arrived across the road from him yesterday. Those eyes slowly moving up and down her body as if he was once again calculating her. Tilting his head to one side as his long dirty blonde hair flew down to rest just past his shoulders.

"Michael." A masculine voice came from the boy, the only word he spoke and suddenly shuffled to one side to make some room for the girl in which he has only just met. Probably the only person at his age that he'd ever meet.

"I...I like your mask, I...is it for Ha...Halloween?" Layla asked him nervously once she sat down upon the spot of grass next to him. Folding her legs together as she sat down, tucking the bottom of her dress over her knees to cover most of her legs.

Michael's eyes watched her and he shifted his body a little more to give her more room. Trying to compose himself the moment when he first caught the sudden scent of her when some breeze from the wind blew a few strands of her hair towards his direction and something deep inside of Michael's black eyes sparked an ignition of sudden obsessiveness towards her.

He suddenly held the back of the mask and for the first time with somebody, Michael lifted the plastic and took the clown mask off. A small pretty, friendly smile slid across Layla's cheeks and even Michael himself very faintly felt the sides of his lips turn upwards ever so slightly and hands the mask over to show the girl. Layla very gently takes the mask, looking down as she examines it, looking at it as she turns it around in her hands.

"Look who it is lads, it's the freaky Myers with his new girlfriend." The voice of Wesley Rhoades soon caught Michael's attention. Layla looks up and sees a couple of older boys approach them, standing around them. The other two boys began to chuckle and gloat and began to tease amongst themselves.

Uncontrolled anger suddenly began to bubble up inside of Michael and clenched both his hands together tightly into fists as if he was trying to keep that anger in control.

Layla quickly stands up, keeping quiet now and took a small timid step closer to Michael's side. Wesley dangerously approaches the new girl and began to twiddle some of her hair in his fingers. Layla's heart began to pound heavily against her chest as she just stood there. The sudden fear and nerves showing in her eyes as she didn't know on what to do or how to react in this situation but thought it was best to keep still, keep quiet and keep her head down, and would occasionally glance up to them. In the hopes that this would make them bored and move on.

"So then, who is your new girlfriend then Mikey, aren't you going to introduce her to us." Michael's eyes widened as the anger easily showed within them as he looked up at Wesley, watching his every move, his eyes never leaving him. Wesley began to play around with Layla's hair, flicking it around and even sniffing a piece of strand, the other boys laughed as they watched their friend begin to advance on the girl and began to circle around the small, terrified girl and started to join in, separating the two younger kids from each other.

Layla was suddenly too scared and nervous to even defend herself as the three older boys gathered around her. One boy grabbed Michael's mask from her hands and started to tease around with it, placing the clown mask around over his face. Wesley and the boy number two began to make kissing sounds towards her. Wesley's final mistake he made with Layla is when he leans an arm around her shoulders,

"Come on, give us a little kiss." He said when suddenly Michael snapped and with one quick move, he charged forwards towards Wesley. Jumping on him with his unbelievable strength, Michael knocked him down to the ground with an angry grunt escape his lips.

Sitting on top of Wesley, Michael began to angrily throw punches down at Wesley's face. Layla watched on with horror as Michael continued to give Wesley a beating. The other two boys suddenly dispersed, running away, dropping the mask the moment they ran from the scene. This continued for a few more moments until two male teachers came over. One grabbed Michael and managed to pry and pull him away from off Wesley. The other teacher unfortunately was the headteacher who helped the now very bloody Wesley up to his feet. His nose covered in thick red blood.

The teacher who was holding a very angry Michael was struggling to keep him intact, "What an earth is going on here?" The headteacher asked as he stood in the middle of them, "I...I don't know sir, he...he just came onto me, he...he just went mental." Wesley said as he held his nose with his hand, trying to stop the bleeding.

"Right, you get yourself cleaned up first and the two of you get into my office, honestly it always seems to be you two." Wesley scoffed as he held his nose.

"B...but sir, he...he just..." Wesley began, "No buts, office now!" He ordered and Wesley and still a very angry Michael were suddenly being led towards the building. Layla stood there shocked and still filled with horror, as she couldn't believe that the boy had the decency to blame this on Michael when they were the ones who came up to them and started on them. It was as if they were deliberately wanting some kind of reaction from him.

Layla swallows a lump down her throat, it was however a relieve that Michael was there at all to defend her however how violent it just got, she didn't like the violence but it certainly solved the situation she was put under. She looks down and sees the clown mask laying on the patch of grass near her, she approaches it, leans down to pick it up. Looking down at the mask and sees it staring blankly back up at her, looking back up towards the direction where the boys had gone to and decided to keep Michael's clown mask safe for him so she could return it to him when she sees him back in class.
