Hello everyone, and I hope you're having a good day!
Sorry for those of you who were looking forward to updates to my other fics! I'm definitely working on them, but I've been having some bad writer's block, so I decided to write something different, and honestly, I have been dying to write a RWBY x Bloodborne fic for the longest time.
And this fic is definitely gonna be unusual, in that it's also a Jaune x Bleiss fic. For those unaware, 'Bleiss' is basically a really popular fan inversion/depiction of Weiss from Volumes 1-3, where she is Weiss's opposite in nearly every way. Where Weiss is prim and proper, Bleiss is rude, lewd, and cusses like a sailor. Where Weiss dresses in white and has white hair and blue eyes, Bleiss dresses in black, has black hair, and has red eyes.
And more famously (or infamously), where Weiss in Volumes 1-3 was either indifferent to, annoyed by, or dislikes Jaune, Bleiss is head-over-heels and hilariously down bad for him.
Mallobaude's fic 'Black Mirror' and the fanfic 'Legacy of Bleiss: A Discord Anthology' were basically where she truly took off in the RWBY fandom, and after reading those fics myself, I thought why not make a Bleiss fic of my own?
Most Bleiss fics and content usually focus on the lewd humor side of things, such as Bleiss flirting with, teasing, and trying her best to get into Jaune's pants, and while that will still be in this fic (cause it's Bleiss lol), I also want to expand on her character beyond just wanting to ride Jaune's Crocea Mors, using Bloodborne's setting and lore as inspiration.
And yes, this is also a Jaune x Weiss story, but Bleiss will be the main focus first. I'll explain as the story continues.
Hope you guys enjoy this kind of fic and interpretation of Bleiss, and please feel free to leave your thoughts on this story, positive or negative!
Chapter 1: Mirror, mirror…
Weiss was in unimaginable pain.
It all started with a bad headache that began a few months ago, which got better after her mother gave her some pills. But as time passed, the pain in her head got even worse, and not even the pills were enough to make it go away.
Every time her mother brought her to the doctor, they all gave her puzzled looks, unsure what was going on. Even when they had her go into the scary machine and showed mother those black-and-white photos, they were still confused. From what mother told her, everything seemed normal, and that maybe whatever was going on with her would go away on its own.
It didn't.
The headaches kept coming, the medicine didn't help, and soon Weiss was unable to even move properly. When she first noticed how her arms would start to spasm out of control, she immediately ran to her big sister in tears, and then some time later, she started having trouble walking, even though she was already old enough to go to the bathroom on her own.
And when she went to the bathroom this morning, she looked at herself in the mirror, saw that her head had expanded twice its normal size, and screamed bloody murder.
There was no debate this time. Something was absolutely wrong with her, and she burst into tears, crying and begging for her mom, dad, and sister to help her.
When her mother took her to the Children's Hospital, she was immediately placed on a hospital bed and wheeled to several different rooms. The doctors took several more of those black-and-white photos, and this time there was panic, everyone staring aghast as if they couldn't comprehend what they saw. It all made Weiss want to reach for her mother and sister even more, but by that point the pain in her head reached a peak, and all she could do was beg for the pain to stop.
Eventually, they gave her several shots that started to lull her to sleep.
The last thing Weiss heard from the doctors before she lost consciousness were the words 'immediate surgery', and…
'Parasitic t—'
She didn't know when she noticed it, but one day, she came to the realization that she was alive.
Her first moments were full of pain and emptiness, as if she had been separated from something very precious to her. All she could remember was that she had been growing, and then suddenly, she was violently ripped away. A part of her soul still lingered on, just barely conscious enough for her to notice her surroundings and realize that something was wrong. Very wrong.
She felt alone, helpless, and devoid of warmth. She had been torn away from her other half, and no matter how much she yearned to reach out and find her, her sole arm refused to bend, and her vision turned black. It was impossible for air to travel through her underdeveloped lungs, and soon, her body began to perish.
The last thing she saw was her… other half, before darkness took her.
…
…
…
"Hello?"
"…"
"Are you cold?"
She heard light footsteps slowly approaching her. Stopping a few inches away from her prone form on the ground, wriggling and writhing helplessly, the figure reached down and picked her up with cold, porcelain hands connected by plastic joints.
Raising her up from the ground, the mysterious figure regarded her with innocent, almost child-like curiosity, not at all bothered by how the creature she held in her arms looked like a malformed tadpole with a flattened and crooked face, a single stunted arm, and a flailing tail where legs should have separated and formed, before a motherly smile formed on her face.
Gently caressing her with her thumb, the figure cradled her to her chest and hummed a soothing lullaby.
"Oh Gehrman, you've found yourself a Hunter."
Present Day
Even now, Weiss still couldn't believe that she was here, on a Bullhead heading straight towards Beacon Academy!
It all felt like a fanciful dream, something that would forever be out of reach for her, but against all odds, she managed to pass Father's 'test', and earned her right to attend Beacon rather than Atlas Academy.
All her grueling training with Winter, all the late nights of non-stop studying, all those years of putting up with her controlling Father, alcoholic mother, and annoying brother, were all worth it now that she was finally ready to make a future for herself beyond Atlas's borders.
Even better, she overheard a rumor that Pyrrha Nikos, famed Mistralian Champion, was also coming to Beacon this year! Fantastic! If the two of them were on a team together, they would surely be unstoppable!
Things were really looking up for her, and at this rate, there was nothing that could possibly ruin her first day at Beacon!
That lasted for about two minutes before a news broadcast caught her attention.
"In other news, a peaceful protest soon turned violent as members of the White Fang organization infiltrated the rally and incited the crowd, throwing bricks and rocks at Valean police before engaging in direct conflict with the officers. Today's march, organized by the city's Faunus population, was originally planned to be a peaceful demonstration calling for the city's Council to address systemic anti-Faunus sentiments in the Kingdom, but has since disbanded once the White Fang had begun instigating direct combat with the police."
"Sadly, two officers lost their lives in the ensuing struggle, and a temporary curfew has been placed for the rest of the weekend. All five White Fang members were apprehended by the police, and tensions within the city remain at an all-time high, largely in part due to the increase in the number of robberies occurring in Vale, the majority of which have been targeting Dust stores, many of them SDC subsidiaries. Although notorious criminal Roman Torchwick has been documented participating in many of the robberies, official polls have highlighted how nearly 68% of Vale's population attribute the recent robberies to the Faunus and the White Fang in particular, noting the organization's historic confrontations with the Schnee Dust Company. In a recent press conference, CEO Jacques Schnee continued to highlight his immaculate track-record in supporting Faunus rights, and called for the Vale Council to establish tougher measures against criminal Faunus and the White Fang. Continuing—"
Weiss bristled in anger, turning her attention away from the broadcast. Just beside her, two girls, one with flowing blonde locks, and the other a shorter (and possibly younger) girl with silver eyes, were already talking amongst themselves about the news, not even bothering to keep their voices low.
"The Schnee Dust Company is really well known, huh? I heard that they're the most corrupt company in all of Remnant…"
"Yeah, and I also heard that they treat their workers like slaves."
"And what do you know about it!?"
Not willing to overlook a slight against her grandfather's company, Weiss soon stepped in with a frown.
"Are you that easily swayed by their propaganda!?"
"Uh, and what's it to you?" The blonde girl asked.
"I'm Weiss Schnee," Weiss responded, gesturing to herself. "Heiress of the company you were bad-mouthing just now!"
This caused the silver-eyed girl to panic, raising her hands up in apology. "Ah, sorry! We weren't trying to insult you! We were just talking about the rumors about the SDC–"
"Rumors? Do you seriously believe all those lies peddled by the White Fang!? You're willing to swallow everything those murderers and thieves push down your throats!?" Weiss bit back, unamused by the girl's flimsy defense.
"The White Fang was originally a pacifist group. That was, until your company exploited them and the powerless!" Another girl interjected, this one with black hair adorned by a similar black bow atop her head. Though she was gazing at the open book in her hand, it was clear that her attention was solely focused on Weiss.
Weiss's eyes narrowed. "Are you defending them?"
"You must really be ignorant if you seriously believe that all Faunus are evil." The girl retorted, before turning back to her book.
"Why you!"
"OKAY! Let's all just calm down and start over," the blonde girl chimed in, stepping in front of Weiss before a fight could break out. "We're all gonna be Beacon students after all, so why don't we introduce ourselves? I'm Yang, and this is my adorable baby sister, Ruby!"
"Yang, quit babying me!" Ruby whined, escaping one of Yang's bear hugs. "N-nice to meet you both, Weiss! Blake!"
When neither girl responded, she tried to transition to a different topic. "Ahaha… um, s-since the semester's just about to start, do you wanna go shopping with us for some school supplies?"
"Oh really? Then can we try on new clothes, paint our nails, and talk about cute boys like tall, blonde, and… scraggly over there?" Weiss replied sarcastically, gesturing towards the blonde boy she saw a few moments ago, who looked like he was about to throw up all over the floor.
Ruby's face lit up as if her birthday had come early. "Really!?"
"No."
Weiss then turned around and walked away, leaving behind the three as she retreated back towards her seat.
'Hmph, I guess it was too much for me to ask to be in a school where people didn't buy all that nonsense peddled by the White Fang.' Weiss thought to herself. 'And the nerve of that girl! Asking me to go shopping! Does she not realize that we're training to be Huntresses!? Come to think of it, she looked too young to even be on this ship in the first place. Have Beacon's standards really fallen that low?'
As if on cue, the blonde boy she gestured to earlier rushed past her towards the nearest bathroom, tightly covering his mouth with his hands as the stench of vomit began to waft towards her.
"I guess so…" Weiss remarked somberly, pinching her nose to avoid the rancid scent.
Though she was incapable of hearing it, roaring laughter echoed throughout the depths of her mind in response.
…
…
…
…
So much for a wonderful first day at Beacon…
Not only had she run into that Ruby girl once more, the dolt had set off a vial of Fire Dust in her palm, causing an explosion in front of the school! And just as she was about to settle down for the night, she once again was interrupted by her and her overly bombastic sister.
It was nearly midnight when the two troublemakers finally left her alone and went to their sleeping bags, and Weiss was fuming by the time she collapsed onto her own bedroll.
"Unbelievable! The nerve of those two! I better not be stuck in a team with them tomorrow!"
Which brought her back to her original plan. Much to her delight, Pyrrha Nikos was indeed here at Beacon, and though she wasn't aware of how Beacon decided their teams, it wouldn't hurt to ask the Invincible Girl if she'd be willing to be in a team with her. And surely there'd be more… acceptable people to team up with, rather than those sisters and that pretentious bookworm!
"Just have to approach her before anyone else can ask, and hopefully she'll accept." Weiss mused to herself. "Knowing who I am, I doubt she'll refuse, but I better do my best to convince her that I'd be a good partner and teammate!"
Battle plan all set, Weiss placed an alarm on her Scroll and snuggled inside her sleeping bag.
'Please let me be in a good team tomorrow.' Weiss thought to herself, before she finally fell asleep.
It was about 1 in the morning by the time Weiss finally entered into deep sleep, and when she did, her eyes shot wide open and a voice that sounded identical to Weiss's, albeit more crass and informal, came from her mouth.
"Fucking finally! Thought it'd take her forever to go to sleep!"
As 'Weiss' rose from her sleeping bag, her luscious white hair turned as black as the abyssal cosmos, and her eyes morphed from icy-blue to blood-red. Stretching her arms until she heard a satisfying crack, 'Weiss' made her way through the auditorium, skillfully avoiding stepping on anyone with footsteps so silent not even a Faunus could hear her.
Leveling one last glare at the raven-haired girl Weiss met earlier in the day (her arms still holding onto that smut book of hers), 'Weiss' entered the girl's locker room, a smug grin on her face as she appraised herself in the mirror.
"Skin? Smooth as a baby's butt. Hair? As silky as Vacuan cotton. Boobs? Could be better, but nothing to cry home about. And ass? Fantastic, and definitely not plastic! Thanks for keeping this body nice and sexy for us, Weiss!"
The only imperfection 'she' could find on her(?) body was the lone scar running down the side of her left eye, but rather than frown at the wound, 'Weiss' gazed upon it with utmost pride.
"Nice job, Weiss. Way to stick it to that pig we call Father." 'Weiss' said with a proud smile. "You did good. Now, let me return the favor."
Initiation would begin within several hours, plenty of time for 'Weiss' to make her way into Emerald Forest and cull most of the Grimm inside. While Weiss was busy arguing with the annoying sisters from before, 'she' had managed to parse out some valuable info from the background.
Several students who probably had friends or family in Beacon before, had been muttering to themselves about their Initiation, pointing out to some of the more nervous students around them that their test would involve them being tossed into Emerald Forest and sent to find a relic, all the while taking out any Grimm in their path.
It should be a simple enough task for someone like Weiss, but 'she' had learned long ago that it's better to be safe than sorry. And besides, it'd been far too long since she last was able to 'stretch' her wings and walk around in Weiss's body.
'She' had seen Weiss's battle with the Arma Gigas first-hand, inside the depths of Weiss's mind and through her eyes, and thanks to her victory, 'she' had been in a very good mood. Enough for her to venture out and make sure Weiss's Initiation was as smooth as can be.
"Sleep tight, dear sister. Bleiss here will handle the rest."
Snapping her fingers, it didn't take long for a few strange bubbles of fog to burst forth from the ground around her. Within each one, a small gathering of skeletally thin creatures resembling dead children emerged, all of them grasping their tiny hands in prayer and admiration as they gazed upon her.
When Bleiss nodded to them, they disappeared within the fog for a moment, before returning with several armaments and a set of clothes in their arms. Grabbing her threaded cane, pistol, and Hunter attire, she changed in the locker room and made her way out of Beacon and towards the nearby forest.
Glancing at the fractured moon up above, Bleiss let out a merry whistle before checking the time on Weiss's Scroll.
"Hm, still a lot later than I hoped, but it shouldn't take me too long to mop up most of the Grimm here before Initiation starts. Compared to the Beasts of Yharnam, these guys are chumps. Don't worry Weiss, I'll have you resting back in your sleeping bag in no time!"
Smirking, Bleiss leapt through the air and fell into the forest, the sounds of gunfire and the death cries of Grimm echoing throughout the night…
As it turns out, it took a lot longer than expected to get rid of most of the Grimm.
And Bleiss was now extremely late for school.
"Shit, shit, shit! Why did it have to take so damn long!?"
Weiss's alarm on her Scroll had been blaring multiple times during her little venture into Emerald Forest, and due to some rather troublesome Grimm (seriously, fuck that stupid Nevermore!), by the time Bleiss started to race back to Beacon, the Sun was already up and most of the First-Years were already making their way to the cliffside.
"Wanted to get her freshened up before everybody else, but… tch, screw it!" Bleiss hissed.
The last thing she wanted was for Weiss to miss Initiation entirely because of her, and with only 10 minutes left until all the students left, Bleiss mentally apologized to her twin as she barreled through the main door, ignoring the startled cries of the other students.
"Move it, limp dick!" Bleiss shouted, roughly shoving one of the students, a rather bulky and shady-looking fellow holding a large mace, out of the way before crashing into the women's locker rooms.
After tossing out one of the girls from the showers (and shutting down her cry of protest with a gun barrel to the face), Bleiss hurriedly pulled off her clothes and flung them to the ground, letting the little Helpers take them away, and scrubbed herself down.
With only a few minutes left until the Bullhead took off, she scrambled out of the shower, dried herself off with the previous girl's towel (much to her annoyance), and made a break for Weiss's locker, conveniently located right next to a tall, red-haired woman with emerald eyes.
'Oh yeah… that's the chick Weiss was so desperate to team up with.'
Naturally, Bleiss knew who she was thanks to all the times Weiss spent watching her matches in secret and eating her branded cereal (which tasted like crap, in her opinion). Compared to her twin, however, she didn't really care much for the Invincible Girl, having met and faced off against people many times more dangerous than her, but she knew just how much Weiss was looking forward to being a part of a team together.
'Hm, not much time till Initiation starts, and if I let Weiss wake up now, she'll likely panic and fumble her way through whatever conversation she'll have with Pyrrha here.'
And if Bleiss was being perfectly honest with herself, Weiss would have likely made a terrible first impression on the Invincible Girl. Knowing her, she'd have gone full in with twinkles in her eyes, listing off all of Pyrrha's accomplishments like a starstruck fan before not-so-humbly asking if the girl would join her team.
Yep, Weiss would go at it with the subtlety of a high-speed train crashing into a mountain.
Well, that's what Bleiss was here for! Unlike Weiss, she knew just how to talk to the common folk and have them dancing to her tune. With her eloquent skills, she'll have the Invincible Girl eating out of her hand in no time.
'Hehe, watch how it's done, Weiss. This is how you get people to pay attention to you.'
With a smirk on her face, Bleiss dressed herself in Weiss's clothes and made her way to Pyrrha Nikos, currently retrieving her weapon from her locker.
"Yo, what up bitch?"
Everyone in the girl's locker room froze, a stunned silence permeating the air as all the girls looked at Bleiss with incredulous stares.
As for Pyrrha herself, she twitched in surprise before gesturing to herself, mouth gaping. "W-were you referring to me?"
"Who else would I be talking to? The wall?" Bleiss replied with a smirk, ignoring the scandalized faces leveled at her. "So, you ready for Initiation or whatever the hell they want us to do out there?"
Taking a moment to compose herself, Pyrrha hesitantly nodded. "I… suppose so?"
"Oh, really? That's good, 'cause I'm not." Bleiss admitted unashamedly. "Mind if I stick with you then? I'd rather not end up inside an Ursa's stomach on my first day here, and you seem like you know what you're doing."
"Hey! Do you even know who you're talking to!?" One of the girls, ironically the one whom Bleiss shoved out of the shower, shouted. "This is Pyrrha Nikos! The Invincible Girl! Y-you can't just ask her to be your partner like that!"
"So? What's it to you? You her mom or something? More so, do I look like I give a shit?" Bleiss answered nonchalantly, to the shock and horror of everyone else. "Don't really care about the 'Invincible Girl' or whatever stupid title they gave her. I'm just asking if I could stick next to her during Initiation, that's it. If you have a problem with that, then either fuck off, or kiss my ass."
Most of the girls in the locker room stared at her as if she committed a blasphemous sin, before grumbling to themselves and making their way out, though not before shooting Bleiss some scathing looks, which she answered in kind with a middle finger and a shit-eating grin.
As for Pyrrha, she stared at Bleiss as if she had grown a second head, before she erupted with laughter.
"I-I'm sorry!" Pyrrha let out, drying her tears with a smile. "It's just, no one's ever really spoken to me like that before. It's actually kind of refreshing, not having someone constantly fawning over you or asking for favors."
"Girl, if that's true, then you really need to learn to stand up for yourself." Bleiss replied, retrieving Myrtenaster from her locker. "Don't let those idiots keep treating you like you're some kind of prized possession. Show them who's boss! Tell them, "No! Fuck off and leave me alone!". And if that doesn't work, then just kick them in the crotch. Works for both guys and girls."
"Haha, well, maybe I wouldn't go that far, but I understand what you mean. And if it's alright with you, I'd be more than happy to partner up with you for Initiation."
'Check. And mate.' Bleiss smiled to herself.
"And if it's alright with you, maybe you can have me joining in on the action, too." A new voice interjected.
Bleiss turned around, seeing the blonde boy from yesterday waving at her with a flirtatious look on his face. "Ah, it's you again…"
Now that he wasn't desperately trying to hold in his own vomit, he looked much more at ease with himself, even if it was fueled by false bravado. And much to Bleiss's surprise, now that she had a chance to see him up close, she couldn't help but notice how absurdly handsome he was.
Seeing her growing smirk as a good sign, the boy approached her with a smile. "The name's Jaune Arc, gorgeous. Short, sweet, and the ladies love it!"
"Nice to meet you, Jaune!" Pyrrha replied, though to her pleasant surprise he soon brushed her aside in favor of continuing to flirt with Bleiss.
"So, Weiss, I couldn't help but overhear your fondness for me the other day," Jaune continued, flexing his nonexistent muscles.
"So I did." Bleiss replied happily, licking her lips.
"And… I've been hearing a lot of rumors about teams; I was thinking you and I would make a good one. Whaddya say?"
"Actually, I think the teams are made up of four students each." Pyrrha interjected before Bleiss could reply.
"You don't say? Well, hot stuff, play your cards right, and you could end up on the winning team." Jaune replied, already turning his attention to her, much to Pyrrha's and Bleiss's amusement.
"Aw, already leaving me out to dry for Cereal Girl? And here I thought you and I had something special, Jaune…" Bleiss whispered seductively into Jaune's ear from behind, sending an electric current through his spine and making him and Pyrrha blush at her words.
In less than a second his false confidence sputtered and died as he turned around to face her. "W-what!?"
"Feeling tongue-tied because of little ol' me? How about I help loosen up that tongue with something more… fun, for the both of us?" Bleiss continued, feeling a rush of excitement course through her body as she inched ever closer to Jaune, making him crash against the lockers. "The showers are all empty now, darling. Why don't the two of us hop in and… get to know each other better?"
The moment Bleiss sensually licked her lips at him, Jaune broke, his face turning as red as a tomato.
"O-on second thought, I think we should get going, since Initiation is gonna start soon! S-see you two later!" And just like that, he grabbed his weapon and made a beeline for outside, leaving behind both a gobsmacked and blushing Pyrrha as well as a cackling Bleiss.
"W-Weiss!?" Pyrrha finally choked out to Bleiss, who was doubling over in laughter. "T-that was inappropriate!"
"Oh, lighten up Cereal Girl." Bleiss laughed, drying her tears. "It's not everyday that someone flirts with me like that! Might as well have some fun while I'm at it."
In fact, it was the first time that someone flirted with her, Bleiss, and not her twin. Bleiss had seen all sorts of people try to cozy up to Weiss back in Atlas, many of them not worth either of their time, but not once in all her years of existence did someone ever try to approach her.
It felt nice, finally having someone appreciate her for once, and not her twin. Even if Jaune had mistaken her for Weiss, the emotions she heard in his voice were all real, and that sent a twinge of joy throughout her body.
"And besides," Bleiss continued. "Jaune is rather cute, isn't he?"
"Um…"
Excusing herself, Pyrrha soon left the locker room with a flushed face, leaving Bleiss all alone for the first time that morning.
Looking at the time on her Scroll, Bleiss let out a sigh, noticing how late it was. "Guess it's time for me to dip out. Good luck, Weiss. Hope you'll do well."
Taking a seat nearby, Bleiss placed Myrtenaster in her lap and closed her eyes, letting herself fall asleep as her hair turned back to white…
…
…
…
…
"Wakey wakey, Ice Queen!"
Weiss let out a grumble, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "Huh, what?"
To her surprise, she found herself not in her sleeping bag, but in the girl's locker room, with Yang and Ruby staring down at her with amused and concerned looks on their faces.
"Gotta say, I didn't expect you to take a nap now of all times." Yang remarked. "You do know that Initiation's gonna start in a couple minutes, right?"
"Wait, how did I even end up here in the first place!?" Weiss replied in horror, staring at herself. "Was I sleepwalking? Wait… WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT INITIATION!?"
Glancing at her Scroll, she let out a high-pitched scream when she noticed the time.
"I'M GOING TO BE LATE!? I DIDN'T EVEN GET A CHANCE TO TALK TO PYRRHA YET!"
Scrambling to her feet, and thankful for the fact that she somehow dressed herself up while she was sleepwalking (though the fact she slept-walked at all was bizarre, if not highly disturbing), Weiss rushed out of the locker rooms, leaving Yang and Ruby behind with puzzled looks.
"Is she alright?" Ruby pondered. "Did I accidentally knock something loose when I blew us up yesterday!?"
"Nah, I think Ice Queen here's got some issues." Yang shrugged, before laughing to herself. "I overheard some of the girls outside talking about how she was chatting it up with Pyrrha Nikos before trying to seduce that Jaune guy from yesterday. If you ask me, I think she's just feeling repressed, and today was her day to finally cut loose. Who knows, maybe that means you'll lose an enemy and be friends with her instead!"
Somehow, Ruby didn't feel too convinced by her sister's words.
Later that evening…
Weiss had never felt more annoyed in her entire life than at this moment.
Somehow, everything had gone downhill for her today. Not only did she sleep through all her alarms, but as a result, she completely missed her chance to talk to Pyrrha Nikos and recruit her to her team! Even worse, she nearly ended up missing Initiation due to her waking up in the locker room of all places!
Professor Ozpin's ideology in setting up teams and partners was utterly ludicrous! Your partner for the next four years would be a random person you made eye-contact with!? Teams were decided based on the Relic you grabbed!? What kind of system was this!? This was the legendary Beacon Academy everyone spoke highly of!?
Worse, she had the worst luck imaginable! Not only was her partner Ruby Rose of all people, but when she tried to locate Pyrrha Nikos, she found out that she already partnered up with Jaune Arc, the two of them giving her these odd looks as she greeted them! Jaune was blushing up a storm and Pyrrha refused to make eye-contact with her! What had she done to garner such second-hand embarrassment!?
And the icing to this already lackluster cake was that she ended up in a team with Ruby, her sister, and that Blake girl she couldn't stand. Not only that, but Ruby was chosen to be Team Leader! Professor Ozpin even had the gall to name their team after her!
Fuming, Weiss ignored the others and quickly changed into her nightclothes. With how she accidentally slept through her alarm this morning, it was better that she get an early rest, lest she oversleep again and end up late for their first class.
Curling up underneath the covers, she wondered just what had happened to her this morning. It was already unusual for her to wake up so late, but it was even stranger how she ended up in the locker rooms fully clothed in the first place.
Moreso, throughout Initiation she felt paradoxically both invigorated as well as exhausted, as if she had spent the entire night exercising, yet also feeling completely refreshed and full of energy. Her muscles ached, but soon afterwards the pain went away, and she felt good as new the rest of the day.
And speaking of their Initiation, it was by far the easiest task Weiss had ever done in her life. For all the warnings the Professors gave, not once did she, or anyone else in Team RWBY and JNPR, encounter a single Grimm, their entire trip through the forest to grab the Relics passing by in complete silence, and without a single incident throughout. In the end, with their assignment completed, both teams simply walked back to Beacon without any struggle, stunning the Professors who were watching their progress.
Well, here's hoping the rest of her time at Beacon went by that easily.
She hoped that she didn't end up sleepwalking again in the middle of the night. While there have been a handful of times where something similar happened in the past, they were few and far between, and eventually, they stopped altogether. What could have brought this on? Maybe a change of place, or maybe it was just from stress?
Sighing, Weiss settled in and tried to get some sleep, hoping that things would look up for her tomorrow.
Jaune couldn't believe he made it through his first day at Beacon.
Throughout the day he had been waiting for something to go wrong, maybe a spontaneous test that would show off his lackluster combat skills, or a fight with a Grimm in Emerald Forest that would go horribly wrong, ending in either his death or his immediate expulsion.
The fact that neither of those things happened was pretty much a miracle by the Brother Gods. No one seemed to suspect that he was a cheater who got in with fake papers, and mercifully, their entire Initiation went by super quickly and easily, not a single Grimm bothering them the entire time.
He should have been happy that he made it through Initiation. He should have been proud that he was now an official student at Beacon.
Instead, all he felt was guilt, and shame.
Jaune fell into his bed, glancing at his dorm room and then at his teammates currently sleeping without a care in the world.
Yes, teammates. Somehow, he ended up becoming Team Leader of JNPR, despite never once raising his sword the entirety of Initiation, and despite never once showing any hints of leadership potential.
Why Professor Ozpin picked him was a complete mystery. By all accounts, Pyrrha, Ren, hell, even Nora were much better candidates than him. What had he done to earn this position? He didn't even volunteer for it in the first place! But by that point the rest of his team had already fully accepted him as Leader, and it sent a wave of guilt rushing down his spine.
If only they knew that their leader was a total fraud…
Sighing, Jaune covered himself with his blanket.
How did it all come to this? And how long would it take for the others to find out his dirty little secret?
He knew he should have prepared more for this, but he just couldn't attend Signal, and his Dad balked at the idea of training him. Fake transcripts seemed to be the only way for him to achieve his dreams, and even then, the manner in which he obtained them felt both incredibly wrong, and sketchy.
Jaune could still remember the day he wandered into that clinic in Vale. In addition to providing him the papers he needed, the… Blood Minister would also get his Aura unlocked, which all Huntsmen needed to survive. All he needed to do in exchange was sign a contract, fork out all the money he had saved, and receive a blood transfusion in order to unlock his Aura.
Was it incredibly foolish and sussy as all hell? Absolutely. But he was desperate, and desperation always made men foolish.
Thankfully, whatever the creepy doctor did seemed to have done the trick. His papers were accepted without issue, and when Pyrrha accidentally sent a branch swinging into his face, his Aura healed away the small cut that formed. Though Pyrrha found it odd how he didn't know what Aura was, the fact that he had it in the first place gave him plausible deniability.
Jaune had no idea how long that would last, though.
Tomorrow would be his first day of classes, and he hoped that there wouldn't be anything that'd get him into trouble. For all his shady methods of getting into Beacon, he genuinely wanted to improve himself and become a proper Huntsman.
Hoping that tomorrow would be a lax day for him, Jaune curled himself up in his blanket and onesie and drifted off to sleep.
He knew something was wrong the moment he woke up not in his dorm room, but in that same dingy clinic as before.
Somehow, it looked even worse than when he arrived for the first time. Dirty needles scattered all over the floor, blood stains splattered all over the walls, and the abhorrent stench of rotting flesh festered in the air.
How and why he ended up here was a question that needed answering, but when he tried to move, he realized to his horror that he was chained onto the bed. Worse still, all his limbs felt as heavy as lead, and his vision was foggy. He could barely make out much outside of his immediate surroundings, though what caught his attention more than anything else was the open window to the left of his bed.
There, outside and hovering in the sky, was the Moon, unbroken and whole.
That… didn't make any sense. The Moon he knew was shattered and drifting lazily across the sky. Since when was it fixed?
Suddenly, the stench of blood and gore turned overwhelming, and Jaune had the urge to cover his nose, but the chains on his arms stopped him from even making an attempt to move. To his side was the sound of gurgling water, thick and viscous, and his first thought was that maybe the sewer pipes sprung a leak (which would have made his stinky situation even worse), but that idea was quickly squashed when he heard a snarl from inside the room.
Yes, a snarl. One that didn't belong to any Grimm he knew of.
Jaune's vision started to clear, and to the left of his bed he noticed a congealed mass writhing and rising from a pool of crimson fluid growing in the room. With matted fur and festering flesh, the… creature that emerged from the floor nearly resembled a Beowolf if it was made of flesh and bone. Rising up, it swiveled its head in his direction and sauntered forward on all four limbs.
Jaune realized right then and there that he was in danger, and unable to do anything to save himself.
The Beast prowled forward, raising a bloody claw towards his face, and just as Jaune closed his eyes and embraced the inevitable, a shriek of pain echoed throughout the room. Opening his eyes once more, he was shocked to find that the Beast had caught fire somehow, writhing in agony before the flames turned it into a pile of ash in record time.
Before he could even begin to comprehend how that happened, he felt an uncomfortable sensation on his left leg.
Looking down, Jaune spotted what looked to be the skeleton of a dead child crawling up his leg, soon joined by several others as they scaled up his bed and crowded around his head, each one cold to the touch and with malformed skulls.
Jaune wanted to scream, but his throat clenched. He wanted to shake his head, but his neck refused to obey. He wanted to just wake up from this terrible nightmare, but the Little Ones got to him first.
One of them raised a skeletally thin hand towards his face and gently closed his eyelids, lulling him back to sleep.
His last bit of consciousness was used to hear a motherly voice whispering in his ear.
"Ah, you've found yourself a Hunter…"
Edit: Just adding this in since this fic randomly got made unavailable for reading for some reason. Anyways, also wanted to ask for your guys' opinion, based on a couple reviews I got, on whether Bleiss should have black hair and red eyes when she's walking around as Weiss, or if I should have her maintain Weiss's normal appearance when she's walking around as her. I still plan on having Bleiss have her signature black hair and red eyes when in the Hunter's Dream/Yharnam, but I'm definitely open to feedback on whether I should have her appear as such when she's in Remnant.
And that's that! I hope you guys really enjoyed this first chapter!
Sorry if this chapter seems a little bit rushed or disjointed. I wanted to expand on more, but I didn't want to give away too many of the mysteries just yet!
I'm actually really looking forward to your guys' thoughts on Bleiss's origins in this fic! It's definitely unorthodox, and something I don't think many would have thought of, but keeping in mind Bloodborne's themes and setting, I decided to try out this origin for her instead. It'll absolutely play a role in explaining Bleiss's character and how she differentiates herself from Weiss.
Speaking of Bleiss, more of her character and backstory will be expanded on as the story continues, so if you were a bit confused by what was going on between Bleiss, Weiss, and the dichotomy between them, don't worry, I plan to explain everything as the story progresses.
And yes, both Jaune and Bleiss will be Paleblood Hunters. Don't worry, the Bloodborne elements will be going into full swing very soon!
Anyways, I really hope you guys enjoyed this first chapter of my fic! I know it's very unusual, but I'd definitely hope you were able to find something entertaining about it! Please, if you have anything you want to see improved, or if there was something about it you liked, feel free to let me know!
