Chapter 2:
The Chairman
Location: Rose Tower
I sat in the reception area of Rose Tower. I had waited a week.. and an extra day. Yes, Chairman Rose was a busy man. But this is the biggest company in Galar. Some have even critiqued that the Galar region is being controlled by Macro Cosmos, similar to what Kalos went through with Lysandre Labs five years ago.
"Detective Looker," said the receptionist. "You may go up now."
I went over to the elevator; another member of Macro Cosmos was waiting for me inside.
We got to the top of Rose Tower; it overlooked Wyndon. There was a blonde woman wearing a red dress. "Please make this quick. The Chairman is a very busy man."
"Oleana," said Rose. "Please. We have a guest."
Oleane nodded. "Shall I make our GUEST a cup of tea?" Oleana said.
"We are fine," said Rose. "In fact, we would like to be left alone. This is a confidential meeting. You are relieved of duties today."
"Oh, okay," she said, and walked off a bit sadly. It was almost like this woman had no life outside her work; at this point it was sad that I could relate to her, outside of Emma of course.
"So," I said. "What do you know about… the Dynamax phenomenon?"
Chairman Rose went into his coat and pulled out someone small and purple. "I'm sure you are aware of what this is?" Rose said.
"It's a Wishing Star," I replied. "It allows for the User to Dynamax and Gigantamax. They can be fit into a Dynamax Band, and are used for the Gym battles across Galar. I must ask. Where did these Wishing Stars come from?"
"20,000 years ago," Rose said. "A meteorite fell onto Galar. At this point, human civilization was not a thing, and we left good enough alone.
Years passed, and eventually, civilization formed. Housing, money, language and laws. Humans became far more curious. So one day, two Kings and their loyal Pokémon went out hunting one day and rediscovered the meteorite in a cave. They broke open the meteorite and let lose something great.
This Pokémon rose from its cave, and let out a mighty roar. Particles fell from the sky, and the first Dynamax phenomenon happened all over Galar. The Dynamax energy was too much to control, and many influenced Pokémon went on a rampage, destroying much of Galar's civilization.
Realising their mistake, the two kings and their Pokémon were able to defeat the Dynamax beast and seal it away in Hammerlocke, which was the best survived city in Galar. Their Pokémon were injured, and disappeared.
The event has since been remembered throughout history, such as with the drawing at Turrfield and the mural at Stow-on-Side."
Something hit me. "Chairman, how do you know all this? The Darkest Day has been the most important and mysterious event in Galar's history. Surely this can't all be true. How do you know all of this?"
"Confidential," Rose said.
"Chairman," I said. "You are keeping potentially important parts of Galar's history a secret from us! If word gets out-"
"I think our work is done here," the Chairman said.
"We're not finished!" I said. Suddenly, this meeting was turning into interrogation.
"I think we are. I suggest you leave now before I call security."
"Why are you telling me all of this?!" Looker said.
"If any word gets out about this," Rose said.
"Chairman Rose!" I said. I decided to take my leave. This is the most powerful man in Galar. Not in terms of battles, that would go to Leon. But rather, in terms of business and politics.
I sat back at my usual café, thinking about what had gone down. "He can't just know all this for funsies," I thought. "And what about this Pokémon?" It was clear; I needed to head to Hammerlocke.
