White Sand Ch. 2

Time Jump 3 Months

Wrapping her arms around her knees, Davy found herself staring over the water, in the last few months this cove had become her personal favorite. It was far enough away from people that she didn't feel that she was constantly being watched but close enough that she didn't feel completely alone. Letting her mind wander, she couldn't help but smile as she thought of the friends that she had made, outside of her uncle, Betty, Tom, and even his wife Atlanna had become important to her.

Giving a soft sigh, Davy frowned when she heard the sky thunder, while it wasn't the rain that bothered her, in fact that was one of the things that she loved most, it always felt great on her skin, but when it thundered off the Atlantic, it made sitting at the edge of the water almost impossible. Tossing a small pebble into the churning waves, Davy quickly dusted off the sand and figured that since it was Saturday night, she'd head to Betty's.

Climbing over the rocks that kept the cove separated from the rest of Amesty, Davy gave a quick look around grateful that she didn't see anyone else walking around. She was sure that the locals already knew of this place, but since she found it herself, she'd never seen anyone else here. There was something special about being alone out there, she didn't have to hide, she could just be herself and that was liberating.

Huffing as she pulled herself over the seawall, Davy knew that the only thing that kept her from truly enjoying herself was her inability to swim, well, that wasn't true, she could sort of swim, but not well enough to survive the strong currents of the Atlantic. It was something that she was looking forward to working on, but winter was starting to roll in and she really didn't want to explain to anyone why the cold wasn't bothering her. Shaking her head, that wasn't something that she wanted to think about right now, she just wanted to get a warm bowl of corn chowder and maybe have a beer with Tom.

Arthur found himself walking into his childhood home, the last few months was brutal, not because he was pining for that bitch, but the isolation. He always prided himself on being a loner, but after the shit with Justice League, and Atlantis he grew accustomed to being around people. But living off the coastal waters of Antarctica, using some of the abandoned research posts for sleeping, his brain and body were able to rest, and everything came into focus.

It was clear that he never really loved Mera, she was a beautiful woman, that was for sure, but it was more that she was like him, able to be on land as well as in the water. For the longest time, he kept himself at a distance with woman, it was fun to fuck them, but how could he really have a relationship if they weren't biologically similar. But now, he knew that wasn't important, hell his parents proved that every day, land and sea, somehow, they made it work and loved each other deeply.

While he was thankful for the revelations, it wasn't something he was going to actively pursue, at least for the moment, now he just wanted to enjoy being home with his family.

Walking deeper into the lighthouse, "Mom? Pop?" he yelled out.

Atlanna couldn't stop the smile on her face if she had tried, rushing out of the kitchen, her eyes taking in the sight at the sight of him, "Arthur." She whispered out. Unable to stop the waves of emotions, she moved quickly wrapping herself around his giant frame, "I'm glad you've finally come home." She said, doing her best to keep from crying.

Chuckling a bit, Arthur squeezed her tightly, "Missed you too." Kissing her temple, he held her for a bit, but he couldn't help but notice that his dad wasn't home. "Where's pop?" he asked, a little disappointed that he wasn't here.

Stepping out of his arms, Atlanna gently patted his cheek, "Oh, he left a bit ago, he's at Betty's." While she enjoyed learning about his life, she wasn't a huge fan of the place, it was just a little too loud for her. Looking up, she could see that he was excited to go see his father, "Go."

"Mom, I can stay with you for the night." He said, while he wanted to grab a beer, he would rather spend some time with his mom.

Snorting a bit, Atlanna gently pushed him out the door, "I know you can, but we can spend the day together tomorrow and you can tell me everything that you've done." Pointing to the truck, "Tonight however, go let your father know that you're home and safe. It will make him just as happy as it made me."

Placing a kiss on her cheek, Arthur turned on his heels and bolted towards the truck, it had been almost 3 months since his last Guiness, and he was looking forward to tasting it again.

"Pipsqueak, were you sitting by the water again?" Tom asked, but he already knew that answer.

Shrugging her shoulders, Davy gave Tom a small smile. "Yeah, what gave it away?" She asked, a little curious how he always knew.

"Really?" Reaching over, Tom took a bit of her hair chucking when he felt grains of sand under his fingertips, "Just an educated guess." Leaning back against the booth, his eyes found her amber ones sparkling, "There are only two people that I know that love the water almost as much as you love the beach."

Rolling her eyes, "I can't help it, it's so peaceful at the cove." Which wasn't a total lie, but the truth, that wasn't something that she was ready to tell anyone, probably never. Shivering at the thought, but before she could allow herself to feel guilty about it, the sound of the door opening diverted her attention.

Gasping, Davy watched as the biggest man she'd ever seen walk into the bar, but it wasn't just his size, it was the intensity in which he scanned the room.

"Tom, who's that?" she asked, feeling nervous as he locked eyes with her and made his way over. Inhaling deeply when the giant man came to a stop at front of their table.

Seeing her eyes go wide, Tom slowly looked over his shoulder, sighing in relief at the sight, "My son." Moving to stand, Tom quickly pulled Arthur into a deep hug, "You home?" he asked him.

Arthur just nodded, "Yeah. I'm home." Stepping back, his eyes took in the little blonde staring up at him, her eyes wide with what could only be described as shock. Lifting his eyebrow, he turned back to his dad, "Does mom know?" he teased.

"Of course." Giving him a smile, "Arthur, this is Davy, she's our newest resident. Davy, this is my son, Arthur."

Smoothing down her hair, Davy stood extending her hand, frowning a bit when he didn't bother to take it. Feeling a little awkward, she quickly put it back to her side, "It's nice to meet you." She said, hoping to ease the tension that was growing in her body.

Raising his eyebrow, Arthur took in every little detail, from the color of her eyes to the soft paleness of her skin, another beautiful woman. Shaking his head, "I'm sure." He had his share of beautiful woman and after all the bullshit with Mera, he'd be a fool to let another one have him acting like a fool.

Swallowing, it was clear that he would rather piss glass that interact with her, so she gave Tom a small smile, "Well, you two have a lot of catching up to do." Pulling some cash out, she quicky placed it on the table, "It was a pleasure meeting you." Without another word, she made her way around Arthur and bolted out the door, wanting to put as much space between them as she could.

Tom frowned as his friend bolted, "Don't be rude to her." He said, taking a seat in her now vacant spot.

Rolling his eyes as he pulled out the chair, "Why do you care?" he asked him. Raising his finger, knowing that Betty would bring him a pint.

"She's sweet." Taking a sip of his beer, Tom could see that his son was partially listening, "Your mom likes her, if I'm being honest, Davy is the only real friend she's made here. Don't ruin that for her." He said, giving his son a pointed look.

Looking up as Betty placed his Guinness down, "Thanks Bets." Tipping back his beer, Arthur downed the whole fucking thing, it had been a long three months. Placing down the glass, he could see that his pop was watching him, his face telling him he was serious about the girl and worried about him.

"Pop, I'm good. Surviving at the bottom of the world is what I needed." Leaning back, his eyes taking in the rest of the bar, glad that no one was really coming up to bother them, but people here knew that he enjoyed his solitude. Turning back towards his pop, seeing the same look he used to sport when he was a kid.

Huffing, "I won't do anything to scare her off." If she left him alone, he wouldn't give a shit about her.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Tom just nodded, "That's good. Your mom would be upset." Sipping his beer, Tom felt better knowing that Atlanna wouldn't have to lose a friend because Arthur wasn't a people person.

Arthur couldn't help but stare at his dad, it made no sense how a Queen of Atlantis would become friends with a young human. "How the hell did that even happen?" he asked him.

Tom couldn't help but chuckle, "I met her first, the night you left." Sipping on his beer, Tom could see that he was mildly interested, which for Arthur was something. "But how she met your mom, well that's pretty simple, Davy loves being near the water and one day not too long after she moved her, she saw your mother swimming out of the water, with a million questions." Unable to stop himself from smiling at the memory of his wife bringing the little blonde home.

Rolling his eyes, "Let me guess, the moment she knew that the Aquaman was her son, she stuck around?" Not that it surprised him, most of the woman he's met in the last couple years have tried to weasel their way into his life.

Snorting, Tom knew that Mera did a lot of damage, he just hoped that sooner rather than later he would get over his distrust in woman. "Actually, no. Your mother only told her she had a son and not who he was." Finishing up his beer, smirking a bit at his stunned face, "She wanted to make a friend with someone that didn't care about you."

Downing his second beer, Arthur just shook his head, "And let me guess, she'll be around from time to time?" He growled out. He wasn't sure what about that pissed him off, but the idea of seeing her around annoyed him.

Sighing, Tom knew that trying to force him was just going to end up bad, he just gave him a pointed look. "Sometimes, yes, Davy is teaching your mom how to cook and knit, and your mother is sharing her stories of the sea, so if you happen to be around, just politely ignore her, that's all I ask."

Arthur just nodded, "Don't worry pop, I'll play nice." While he still wasn't thrilled with the idea of someone new being around, he knew that he didn't have to go out of his way to spend time with her either.

Leaning against the post in the living room, Jake could see that Davy was a little agitated, "You OK kid?" he asked her.

Giving him a small smile, Davy couldn't only sigh, "I'm good, I met Atlanna's son, Arthur." Mentally flinching as the memory as the look on his face flashed in her mind.

"And I can assume he wasn't as kind as you were hoping?" Not that it surprised him, he seen the man before, he wasn't exactly a people person.

Shaking her head, Davy just shrugged, "No, not at all." Turning her attention back to her computer, figuring that she could get a few hours of work done before she headed off to bed.

"I wouldn't take it personal, he's that way to most people." He said, not exactly sure why he felt compelled to explain it to her.

Shrugging her shoulders, "Sounds like he's a real charmer." Sighing, "I don't really have the mental bandwidth to deal with another asshole." Moving some of the loose hair that fell into her eyes, Davy could feel him watching her for another moment, but when she heard his footsteps heading towards his room, couldn't help but feel relief.

Shifting a bit in her seat, Davy knew that he was just anxious about the fact that she finally was getting ready to move out, but it was needed. She loved him dearly, but she wanted her own space, and she was certain that he wanted his privacy back. Not that he would say anything about it, they were family, but she was now 25, and she was ready to finally have her own home.

Rolling her neck, Davy couldn't help but sigh in relief as she heard the bones in her neck snap. "Oh, that felt good." She murmured to the living room. Shaking her head clear, Davy knew that she needed to read through this contract, or she wasn't going to get paid. Rubbing her face, "You got this." She muttered to the now empty living room.

It took about another hour but soon enough Davy finally powered through the last page of the contract, never more grateful that she was able to send it off before midnight. Glancing down at her phone, Davy was a little surprised that it was almost 1 in the morning. "Damn."

Arching her back as she stood, Davy knew that she needed to get some rest, or she wouldn't be alert for her meeting with the realtor in the morning. As the idea of finally owning her own place popped into her head, she couldn't help but smile at the thought of having her own space, but more than that, she was really looking forward to finally sleeping on a real bed and finally getting off the pullout sofa.

Plopping down on her makeshift bed, Davy did her best to let her brain shut off, but between her excitement about possibly buying her first home and her strange interaction with Arthur, she found it a little difficult, but finally sleep finally touched her. But her last thought was his amber eyes staring at her with such disdain.

"So, what do you think?" Shelly asked.

Standing in the open living room, Davy couldn't help but smile. "It's perfect." Letting her eyes take in the floorplan, grateful that that she didn't have to worry about knocking down walls, it was already an open concept. The only things that needed to be done to the place were update the kitchen and bathrooms, but that could be done in stages.

It was a simple 4/2 home, with huge windows to let in all the natural light, but really sold her was the fact that it backed up to the cove. Close to a half mile trek through the back woods of her property, there was a little trail that would lead her down to the jetty.

Exhaling slowly, "I'll take it."

Nodding, "I'll get the paperwork started." Pulling out her phone, she quickly made a call to her assistant, wanting to get this done before Davy changed her mind.

Davy couldn't help but smirk as she watched Shelly head towards the kitchen, shaking her head, she made her way out towards the front porch. Taking a deep breath, Davy couldn't help but enjoy the smell of the fresh pine, it was such a stark contrast from her home in Kauai. Looking over the property, Davy was pleased that she could see a few houses around, but thankful that they were far enough away to give her some privacy.

Tucking some of her loose hair behind her ear, Davy pulled out her phone, sending pictures of her new home to her pop. It was a lot of property for one person to handle, but in time she would make her 10-acre property work for her, perhaps even learn how to grow her own foods.

However, before she could get too lost in the idea of creating a little homestead, she could hear Shelly calling out for her. With a final look at her property, Davy turned on her heels and headed inside, excited about the new chapter that she was starting to write for herself.

"Tell me sweetie, how far away is your new home from Jakes?"

Rolling her eyes at the screen, Davy couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "Pop, he's literally down the road." Leaning back against the sofa, she could see his eyes looking around behind her. "Uncle J is out fishing."

John couldn't help but sigh, "Of course he is." Shaking his head, "So how long until you get the keys to your place?" He asked her.

"Probably 2 weeks or so." Sitting up a little bit, Davy could see the surprise on his face, "It's a cash offer, pop. The process doesn't take as long because I don't have to go through a bank or whatever for financing."

Smiling at her, "Davina, I'm so damn proud of you." Wiping his eyes, John knew that she was always planning for her future, "So, perhaps when the weather warms up out there, your old man will come out." Because as much as he missed his daughter, he was not leaving his warm island to trapse in some blizzard.

"Oh, come on, you don't want to spend a winter in Maine?" She teased, knowing full well, unless it was an emergency, there was no way he was going to make the trip.

Huffing, "I love you, kid, but not snow love you." Shivering at the thought of all that white fluff, "I still don't know how you or Jake thought that leaving the island for the great white north was a great idea." Shivering at the thought of living that way for months on end.

Davy couldn't explain her uncle's reasoning, but she knew her own. "Dad, you know why I chose this place, it isn't as rainy as home, but the cold weather will help keep me from having an episode." That was something that helped with her decision to take the plunge to move away from her dad.

"I know baby." John said, his eyes never leaving the screen. He could see that it was his constant hovering that made her feel like she had to worry, sighing, "You know, even when this stuff started, you never once freaked out and I will say this kiddo, you handled it better than I would have." As much as he liked to think he was a pretty levelheaded man, he knew that if he was dealing the with the same thing he would have crumbled or worse killed someone in his frustration.

Wiping a tear that was sliding down her cheek, "Thanks dad." Clearing her throat, Davy knew that it was getting late and that she had an early morning with Atlanna. "I love you pop, but it's getting late here."

"Of course, baby, will talk to you in a couple days." Giving her a small smile, "And if you need any money for repairs on the house you just let me know, I'd love to help you anyway I can."

"Thanks dad. Love you." Shutting her laptop, Davy made her way to her makeshift bed and snuggled deep into her pillow, smiling that in two weeks she would have her own bed.

Holding up her quilt, Atlanna couldn't help but be thrilled at her progress. "Davina, look, my quilt is almost done."

Looking up from her project, Davy couldn't help but smile at her friend. While it wasn't perfect it was damn near close to it, from the way she designed the castle and the underwater sea life, Davy finally felt that she had a real idea of what Atlantis looked like. "It's beautiful. Truly." Reaching over, Davy placed her hand on her shoulder, "You know, if you wanted to, you'd be able to make money selling your quilts online."

Atlanna stared over at her friend, "Perhaps, but I think I just enjoy learning new things." Placing it down, her eyes finding those amber eyes sparkling with joy. "Davina, I have always wondered, how you've come to learn such things. From my understanding young people do not do this." At least that is what she gathered from the people of Amesty.

Tucking her legs underneath herself, Davy shrugged, "My grandma." Just thinking about her made her a little sad, but if it wasn't for her nana, Davy would have had a much harder time growing up. "She wanted me to have all the skills I needed to do things on my own." Which was true, but mostly she wanted her to learn patience, because that was the only way she knew how to help her control herself.

"She was your elder, correct?" She asked, curious about how human families were structured.

"Yeah, pretty much." Sitting up a little more, "My mother left my dad the moment I was born, I really don't know anything about the woman, so my nana was my everything. Grandma, mom, older sister when I needed."

Frowning a bit, Atlanna couldn't help but wonder if she too abandoned her child. "I left Arthur when he was about 3, my father sent men here looking for me." Flinching at the memory of Tom's face as she went back to the sea.

Reaching over, Davy placed her hand on hers, "It's not the same thing, you left to protect him, my mother left because the realization of being a mom was too much." Giving her a small smile, "You wouldn't have left if there was no danger to him, so you don't need to feel guilty."

Sighing, "Perhaps not, but I married Orvax and had another son. Arthur was left on land, without knowing me." It was her punishment, when her former husband found out, he sent her to the depths to be killed, it was only by sheer will that she made it to the Hidden Sea.

Davy wished that there was something that she could say to ease the pain of leaving her child behind, but she was not a mother, nor did she intend to be. "Atlanna, I have only known you a short time, but I like to think that I'm a decent judge of character. You did what you felt was right in that moment."

However, before Atlanna could respond, the sound of the front door swinging open stopped her. Smiling as she watched her son walk through the door, "How was the sea?" she asked him. "Oh, have you met my friend, Davina?"

Looking over at his mom, Arthur couldn't help but frown at the sight of the little blonde sitting next to her, not even sure why it bothered him. "It was good." Turning his eyes towards the little blonde that looked somewhere between scared and uncomfortable, "Yeah. We've met."

Davy swore her mouth got instantly dry, never in her life had she seen anyone so large or covered in so many tattoos. Blinking rapidly, Davy shook her head clear, not wanting to get caught ogling her friend's son. "It's good to see you again." She said, hoping that her voice didn't shake as much as she felt.

Rolling his neck, Arthur was tempted to just stare at her until she left, but he could see out of the corner of his eye his mother looking at him, hoping that they would get along. Sighing, for his mother, he would do almost anything, even if it was putting up with her.

"Yeah, you to kid." Turning his attention to his mom, he found her smiling up at him, giving one in return, his eyes found her holding a blanket. "Where'd you get that?" he asked her. Stepping a bit closer, he could see it was the castle of Atlantis, while it wasn't a perfect rendition, it was still beautiful.

Pride filled her, while she was still very new at this quilting, it pleased her to know that her son liked what she had made. "I made it." Softening her eyes as she looked over at her friend, "Davina has been teaching me how to make a quilt." Holding it up a little higher, "I only have a few more squares and then it will be finished." Glancing over at Davina, "You're a fantastic teacher."

Davy could feel her cheeks getting red, turning her head for a moment, but when she turned back, she found Arthur staring down at her. Blinking rapidly, she focused on Atlanna not feeling comfortable with how he was almost glaring at her.

Tucking some of her hair behind her ear, Davy smiled over at her friend, "Thank you, I'm just glad that my nana's skills are being put to use." Untucking her legs so that she could stand, Davy found Atlanna moving to stand with her. "I should get going."

"Do you have to; Tom will be grilling tonight?" Placing down the quilt, Atlanna carefully pulled her into a small hug.

Arthur watched as his mom bonded with the girl, while he didn't know a lot about her personality, what he did know this, his mother did not just allow anyone in.

Gently giving her a squeeze, "As lovely as that sounds, I'm meeting Shelly to sign my paperwork for the house." Taking a step back, Davy could see her excitement, "Once it's officially mine, I'd really like it if you and Tom," pausing as she spoke, Davy turned her eyes towards Arthur shivering a bit as he stared down at her. "You are invited to, if you feel you're up for the company." she added quietly.

Rolling his shoulders, Arthur watched as several emotions danced across her face, he saw curiosity but the most surprising was fear. He was used to women looking at him with lust or some variation of it, but fear was something new. Clearing his throat, Arthur took a small step forward smirking as he watched her golden eyes grow impossibly larger, chuckling a bit he could only shake his head.

When he was about a foot away from her, Arthur was surprised how small she was compared to him, her head was barely at his chest. Smirking down at her, "Sure, just tell me when." With a final nod, he stepped around her and headed deeper into the house, wanting to shower before he crashed for the night.

Davy swallowed hard as Arthur moved passed her, not really knowing what about him made her so fucking nervous, but he did. Shaking off the last bit of her nerves, Davy turned her attention back to her friend, confused at the smile on her face. "He's intense." Was all that she said.

Placing her hand on her shoulder, Atlanna led her towards the front door. "He can be." Sighing, "But he's been through a lot." Carefully pushing the door open, she found Davina looking up at her, concern filling her eyes. "He's healing." While she wanted to talk about it, she was sure that her son wouldn't appreciate having someone he didn't know in his business.

Lifting her bag up a little higher on her shoulder, Davy could only nod. "Life is complicated, even for royalty, I guess." With a final hug, Davy headed out towards her Jeep, wanting to get the last bit of paperwork done so that she was finally able to move out of her uncle's home.

Atlanna watched as her friend drove off, her eyes never leaving her Jeep until she turned the corner towards town. While she wished that Davina would have stayed longer, she knew that buying this home for herself was the most important thing. Perhaps though, once this was completed, she would be able to spend more time here, and by proxy Arthur.

Time Jump 2 weeks

Staring up through the trees as she walked through the backend of her property, Davy couldn't help but feel content, in the last 24 hours she was finally a legitimate homeowner. Taking a deep breath, she let her eyes turn towards the trail, excited that she was almost towards her cove. Nothing pleased her more knowing that her 5 acres backed up to the nature preserve, which meant that no one would be able to build behind her or even on the cliffs that lead down to the cove.

Lightly touching some of the honeysuckles that were starting to show the first signs of frost, Davy couldn't help but be a little excited to see her first real snowfall. However, before she could really get into pondering what deeper snow would feel like against skin, the sound of screaming stopped her in her tracks.

Tilting her head, doing what she could to pinpoint where it was coming from, but as she heard the noise again, it was clear that it wasn't a human being. Flinching at the sound of that screaming, Davy darted towards the noise, which truly scared the shit out of her because she was running towards her cove.

Barreling through the trees, Davy barley winced as someone of the smaller branches slapped her face, it hurt like all hell, but the sounds of the screaming getting louder kept her motivated. Coming to a sliding stop on the edge of the cliffside, her eyes searched for the source of the noise, gasping as her eyes settled on the jetty. "Oh god."

Moving quickly, Davy made her way down the steep cliffside, moving as fast as she could without losing her footing, because the last thing that orca needed was for her to slip on a loose rock and break her fucking leg.

After about 5 minutes of working her way down, Davy finally hit the beach and double timed it towards the whale that was wrapped in a net, hoping that she would be able to get the poor thing untangled before the tide rose drowning it. Stopping just at the water's edge, she found herself hesitating at the choppy water, but as she mentally debated on whether this was a good idea or not, but seeing the poor thing stuck on the rocks covered in a fishing net made her decision.

Tossing off her jacket, Davy jumped into the water praying that she would be able to get this beautiful creature free before the water got to be too much for her. Keeping her eyes focused on the task in front of her, Davy was able to keep herself from being knocked around by the waves, however, by the time she was at the jetty the waves were starting to roll over her head.

Wiping the water out of her eyes, Davy reached into her jeans, pleased to find the little pocketknife that her uncle gave her for her 10th birthday. Exhaling slowly, Davy looked down at the animal in front of her, almost crying at the sight of his deep brown eyes, fear swimming in them.

"I swear, I'm going to do everything I can to help you." She said to the animal. She didn't think that the animal understood, but the soft cry that it made told her if anything it understood her intentions.

Shaking her head clear, Davy carefully started the slow process of cutting the net off, but for every inch or so of net that was removed, the water kept inching higher. As much as she wanted to rush the process, Davy knew that she couldn't, for if she did there was a high chance of her cutting the animal.

Looking down, Davy could see the desperation in the poor animals' eyes, "I'm trying." She said to it. Closing her eyes for a second, Davy needed to get herself under control or they would both end up drowning, exhaling slowly, she quickly got back to work, because there was no way she was going to let either of them die.

Arthur found himself standing at the edge of the water of the lighthouse, his eyes watching the sun starting to set behind the horizon. Cracking his neck, desperate to relieve some of the tension that was building in his body, however, it did nothing for him.

Closing his eyes, Arthur listened to the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore, but as his body started to relax, the sound of crying pulled him from the moment. His eyes snapped open and focused on a small pod of orca jumping and splashing in the water, doing what they could to get his attention.

Without hesitation Arthur jumped into the water and the moment he was in the water; he could hear their pleas.

"My son, he's on the rocks, trapped in the net. HELP HIM!"

Reaching out, Arthur placed his hand on her side, "Take me to him." Hoping that his calm voice was able to put her at ease.

Pushing her head into his hand, "Please, save him." Without another word, she turned with the rest of her pod, bringing him to the jetty where he was learning how to fish.

Swimming with the pod, Arthur listened carefully to what they were saying but more so listening to the sounds of the young whale that was in distress, but while he could hear his cries, he also heard his relief that someone was already helping him.

"Who is with him?" he asked the pod.

"Other than my eldest daughter, I don't know who could be there with him." She said, worried that someone was going to hurt him.

Moving through the water as quickly as he could, Arthur wanted to get the young whale untangled and off the rocks before whoever was there caused more damage.

Coughing out some of the water that was in her mouth, Davy was struggling to keep herself above the water, the tide was coming in so roughly, it was taking all the strength that she had to keep herself from being pulled out. Gripping the last bit of the rope, her eyes locked with the whale, "I don't know if you can understand me, but please don't hit me with your tail." She pleaded.

Cutting through the last piece of the net, Davy pushed against the animal as hard as she could, "COME ON, SWIM BIG GUY!" she yelled out over the water. Pushing a little harder, she could feel the animal moving, and before she could really enjoy the moment, a huge wave that knocked the whale free also pulled her under.

Kicking her feet, Davy struggled to get to the surface, but the current was too strong for her, and soon the panic took over. Holding her breath, Davy kicked her way to the surface gasping as she broke through, but as her lungs filled with some fresh air, another wave rolled over her and pulled her deeper into the water.

Tumbling over herself for what felt like the hundredth time, Davy could feel her head starting to pound and her vision started to blur. As the blackness started to cloud her vision, one of the last things that she saw was a human body swimming towards her.

"HELP HER, SHE'S NOT STRONG ENOUGH!

Stopping in his tracks Arthur watched as the young male whale swam near a blonde body, moving towards her, he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her towards the surface. Holding her against his chest, Arthur turned her around patting her back, doing what he could to expel any water that was in her lungs. After a tense moment, he could hear her gasping for air, "Slowly."

Spitting up water, Davy found herself holding onto a person, turning her head slightly, she found herself staring into the judging eyes of Arthur Curry. "Thank you." She rasped out.

Gripping his neck a little tighter as she felt another wave hit her back, "Please, can you get me back to the beach." She said, scared that he'd get it in his mind to let her go.

Holding her against his body, Arthur made his way up the beach, chuckling a bit on how hard she was holding his neck, "You afraid of the water?" he asked, only half joking.

Relief filled her instantly the moment she felt the ground beneath her feet, letting go of his neck, Davy dropped to her knees and sprawled out on the cold wet sand. Rolling to her side, Davy spit out the remaining water from her lungs, and found Arthur staring down at her, annoyance but also a bit of concern in his eyes. Regardless of what his issue with her was, she was grateful that he saved her life, even if it bothered him to do so.
