Warehouse outside LA
Chim was astonished to say the least. They had spent the last hour quietly moving through the warehouse. Undetected as best he could tell. How Buck had done what she did the last hour he would never know. But everytime they crossed paths with a bad guy, she took him out with little to no noise. She seemed to glide in a graceful dance as she killed the men.
He could tell she was hurting but she still kept moving, never stopping for long.
At one point she had slipped into a utility room and came back out with a bag she had pilfered from there. What she had in there he didnt know just that it was heavy and that she had shoved the bag into his arms and told him to not drop the bag.
It took Chim a moment to realize she was making her way to where all the cars were kept, he could only gape at her as he watched her from the shadows where she had told him to stay, as she moved from car to car slithering under the cars and doing something, constantly taking stuff from the bag she took from him. He watched as she would take out a small block of something and wrap something around it or pour something else into a container before attaching it to the cars. Every once in awhile she would encounter a patrol and take him out.
Gesturing to Chim to come over, he dashed to the other side and joined her. She gestured to the sedan and told him to get in but not to turn the engine. As she headed for the doors to open them. Just as she pushed open the doors, there was yelling and running footsteps heard. Clearly subterfuge was over. She circled her finger at Chim, telling him to start the car and gun it, which Chim did, stopping briefly as Buck yanked open the door and dove in, twisting and opening the window as she leant out to fire off a few rounds at their peruers.
A scream of pain told Buck she had hit her target as intended. Their captors hurried to the cars and jumped in to persue them,when the vehicles in the front exploded, those who looked were still able tp scambled out of the cars that remained just as the rest of the cars exploded.
Chim kept his foot to the floor and his hands clamped to the wheel as the cars exploded, though he couldnt help flincing each time an explosion popped off.
Just as Chim thought it was over there was a spark in the rearview mirror that had him jerk the wheel to left and stomp in the breaks. He thanked God he didnt roll the car as they ground to a jarring stop.
He didnt even get a chance to blink before Buck was pulling him from the car through the passenger side door and pushing him towards the back of the car, telling him to stay behind the rear wheel.
Before he could protest, Buck leant over on the hood, and started firing off shot after shot. Dropping most of the men she aimed at.
Ten minutes prior
The team was 2 miles out when the sky lit up in brilliant orange and white, the booming echo of an improvised explosion made everyone jerk their head up and look in the direction of the intended destinaation
The 118 travelling behinde the Splinter team were utterly stunnded by the suddedn light and the sound of an explosion, while the Splinter team whooped and cheered in joy.
"Thata Girl! Go Viper!" Boomer whooped as they raced towards the fire.
"How do you know that was Buck?" Hen asked as she and Athena exchanged glances.
"Viper knows how to get things done. And she wont wait for the calvary. Espescially if she sees an oppertunity to get out. thats what we call her doing housekeeping." Boomer said over their earpiece.
The two teams screeched to a stop and saw Buck and Chim behind a sedan taking cover as Buck leant on the hood of the car and fired shot after shot, dropping the advancing men or forcing them into cover.
She glanced over as she heard the other cars stop behind her before focusing on the danger ahead.
The Splinter team wasted no time hopping out and drawing their weapons, firing back as they advanced to where the two were pinned adding their firepower to the mix.
What stunned the remaining 118 was that Eddie too had jumped out drawn his weapon out. Providing coverfire as needed as he made his way over to the hunkered team, Athena hot on his tail.
He was about to go to his wife, when she spared him a glance and told him in no uncertain terms " get Chim to cover! NOW!", Eddie veered off and grabbed Chim by the arm, slapping Hammer on the shoulder and yelling to "falling back" while pushing Chim in front of him to act as a shield for the man while they were on the move towards where the 118 were taking shelter. Hen grabbed Chim just as Eddie spun around and headed back into the fray. He grabbed Buck and tapped Steve again yelling "Falling back" as he pulled his wife infront of him too. He could tell she was heading towards a crash and she needed medical attention soon. He heard the sound of gunfire taper off as the team took out the last of the men.
"Come on carina! Few more steps and you can rest, promento." Eddie murmured as he guided Buck towards where Chim sat, having Hen hover over him.
"I'm fine dammit Hen! Take care of Buck!" Chim said harshly as he shoved away from Hen's probing hands, causing the woman to flinch back and gaze at Chim with a wounded expression.
Chim hurried the last few steps over and slipped under Buck's other arm, helping Eddie slide her into the back of the SUV.
Eddie didn't miss the wince Buck tried to conceal when she was seated. And looked over to Chim once he realized that his wife was slipping towards unconscious. "Chim?"
Chim looked at the pale woman and didn't know how to tell Eddie of the horror his wife had endured. He could only shake his head and softly say " its bad Eddie. I'm sorry", as tears slipped down his cheeks.
Eddie felt his heart sink into his boots as he looked over his wife. His gaze snapping to the pooling blood on her shirt…a shirt that was not her own, and felt sickening dread settle in his belly.
With quick and clinical detachment only a combat medic could accomplish he cut off her shirt and everyone saw the deep bruising on her torso and the blood from two bullet wounds and knew this was bad.
"Dammit we need a hospital stat!", Eddie yelled as Athena jumped in her cruiser to rush Buck to the nearest ER.
"Go! We'll clean this up and catch up to you guys." Steve yelled as he slammed the door shut.
Eddie made quick work of checking her over and securing bandages over the arm to staunch the bleeding there, and placed gauze over the wound on Buck's thigh and slipping on a tourniquet, " What's that ETA Athena?!"
"ETA 20 minutes Eddie! Its the best i can do!"
"Fine just hurry. She might not have that long!" Eddie yelled back and edge of desperation and rage in him voice.
19 minutes later, they pulled into the ER bay and Eddie was relieved to find that there was already a trauma team waiting with a gurney.
The door was yanked open and Buck was loaded on the gurney Eddie running with to tell them what he knew, yelling out her vitals as he took them and the time he reapplied the tourniquet. He also told them she was allergic to Naproxen before a nurse stopped him from going further.
Eddie glanced over as he heard the commotion 30 minutes later and saw Maddie twined around Chim and hugging him tightly, both of them in sobbing. He shifted his gaze away, giving the couple some semblance of privacy and saw the rest of the team also gathered there. Both his and Buck's.
It took 2 hours before the trauma doors wooshed open and a tired looking doctor in theater scrubs came out and said "Evalynn Diaz?" and blinked when most of the people in the waiting room jumped up.
"Uh…is there a Edmundo Diaz or Stevan Mcgarrette here?"
Eddie stepped forward, "Edmundo Diaz, ma'am im the husband. You can talk here. They are all family." Eddie said eager to know how his wife was doing.
"Mr Diaz? I am Dr. Linda McCall. I think it would be best if this was discussed with just you and Mr McGarrette if that would be more easy for you," the doctor urged Eddie who looked at Steve and nodded.
The team could only watch as Eddie and Steve joined the doctor in a private lounge.
"Alright doctor, whats going on?" Eddie demanded.
"Mr Diaz, first your wife is stable. She is sedated and the bullet in her thigh was quick and clean, with time and PT she will be fine on that front. Her arm was a clean through and through, no nerve damage. Again once she healed enough, and had PT she'll be fine. She had some internal bleeding from a small puncture to her lung, the main cause for concern at first was stopping the bleeding. One of her ribs was responsible for the small puncture to her lung. However, there was a small tear in her liver that was causing internal bleeding as well. That we fixed. Her kineys need to be monitored as they are showing signs of stress. There is also the welts on her back from what looks to be leather of some sort, might have been a belt as it seems to thick for a whip that casused some open wounds we are treating to ensure she doesn't get an infection. Frankly, Mr Diaz, your wife took one hell of a beating. And i had to call in the police when i saw the bullet wounds. However, when we were examining your wife we found finger shaped bruises on her hips, and took a closer look. I am sorry to say this, but your wife was raped more than once, and sodomized. It would seem that while the sodomy was brutal, her vaginal tearing was the worst. Whoever raped her was intent on hurting her and was vicious in his act."
"Dios!no por favor! Not her!" Eddie croaked as he listened to the doctor talke and felt weak. Had it not been for Steve he was sure he would have crashed to the floor in a heap.
"Ive got ya Eddie. We'll get you both through this together." Steve whispered as he steadied the man. Tears shimmered in his eyes and rage boiled in his blood as he thought of what his friend had endured and will live with for the rest of her life and so will Eddie.
"Another thing" the doctor said as she waited for Eddie to gain his composure.
"What more could there possibly be?" Eddie asked in fear as he look to the Doctor.
"Im not sure how but the fetus is still safe."
"Fetus? As in baby?" Eddie asked stunned.
" Yes, your wife is 5 weeks pregnant. I take it you didn't know"
"No. Neither of us did. Thank you doctor. When can i see her?"
"Soon as she is settled in her room the nurse will get you." the doctor nodded at both men and excused herself.
