After dinner, Jacob showed Sarah around his home. Coming across a collective table, Sarah's eyes widened. There, right there, was Jareth's crystal-ball! And it was faintly glowing blue! Sarah stared at it. She never thought she would see it again. She brought her eyes to look at the back of his form. She brought her hands up to her face in complete shock. It was was her Cruel but Generous, handsome but scary Goblin King. But why? Why didn't he remember her? Why was he using another name?
Jacob twisted his body around as he noticed Sarah didn't move from the crystal-ball. He's had that stupid thing ever since he could remember. Why was she viewing it as some lost prize? He returned to her side. "What's got you so interested in some crystal-ball, Sarah?" He asked her softly. "It's not like it's a refracted light crystal prism. It's not even glowing." Sarah glanced up at him. She had no idea how to make him remember! She wasn't that same 16 year old who would have said, 'It's not fair.' All the while challenging him. Life wasn't fair. Why was she able to see the crystal-ball gleaming?
Why did it take her five years to see him as the man he was? Jacob observed as tears pooled in Sarah's eyes and then gliding down her face. She brushed them away. He only had two desires: the first was to make sure she was happy. The second one was to make sure she was safe. Jacob had the inclination to hold her. When he was around Sarah, he didn't seem like himself. It's like he was dreaming and yet he was awake, almost like he had a sleeping spirit in himself. He glanced down, pulling her beautiful form close to him. "What's got you so upset?" He enquired, his hands cupping the back of her neck, using his thumb pads to brush away the remaining tears.
Sarah shut her eyes in awaiting his touch. Her handsome and Fierce Goblin King was beside her all along. It was a reality now. She had her suspensions before. Without wasting a moment, she wrapped her arms around his waist. In a muttered voice, "I need to leave." She responded before realizing what she had done. She just hugged Jareth!
Caressing his left hand under he chin, forcing her to look up into his two different eye colors he said, "You don't have to." Sarah shook her head, shaking. He frowned. Why was she nervous? Did she think from that embrace he wanted to get her to sleep with him? He knew women! Woman like Sarah wanted romance, not a frivolous encounter which he knew she would regret.
Holding the back of her head. Sarah tried to pull back. She couldn't let him... he lowered his own, capturing her lips in a searing kiss. He wanted to prove to her this wasn't going to be a scheme to get her into bed. Sarah balled her fists, her heart was pounding so loudly against her chest, she thought he could hear it. She knew he cared for her. Dear Lord, Jareth just kissed her lips. She didn't push him away. No, she wanted it as much as he did.
When he pulled away, Sarah observed him. "You never have to be nervous around me, Sarah. I care for your well being and I'm a gentleman. Don't you see?" He asked her. Sarah noticed how his voice changed. He sounded sensual. And the look in his eyes? That spoke of his temptation of her. Yet, the way he retreated showed her she was more than a conquest.
Jacob would ask her now. "Sarah, I've been invited to a wedding. My colleague, Jeremy Brown, is marrying his high school sweetheart, Krystal Barnes. I want you to be my date to the wedding."
Sarah gaped at Jareth. What? He smiled down at her. "What do you say?" He enquired. Sarah was absolutely speechless and very aware of his form against hers. She hugged him. He kissed her and now to prove that she wasn't some sexual victory, he wanted to take her to a wedding. In an uncertain and unconfident voice, she replied, "Will you let me think about it?"
Jacob gazed at her with those beautiful intense two colored eyes of his. "Yes, of course." The way he kept looking at her made her question what she wanted. Sarah had no idea how to approach the subject to him without sounding like she lost her marbles! Yeah, she could imagine how that went. Jacob, I need you to remember that you are the Goblin King named Jareth, you love me. No, it didn't sound good in her head at all. He glanced down, growing upset himself.
Jacob frowned. "Do you still want me to take you home?" He asked. Pease say no! Tell me you want to spend the night. It wouldn't be for a sexual encounter, Sarah. Sarah hesitantly nodded her head. "It would be best." She replied.
They were back in his Ferrari, maybe 7 blocks away from Sarah's apartment. Jacob kept glancing over to her. She was so beautiful and captivating. When her leg brushed up against his ankle, he bore witness how velvet soft her skin was. He could control himself, damn it! He would not think of her in a inappropriate way. He was how old again? He knew he had to take it slow with her. She was a young woman of 21 years, he could tell Sarah didn't have many experiences with men and that was a shame. Did she have a special man in her life? Was it too late to ask her? If she was still single, there had to be all the wrong men around her.
He cleared his throat. "Sarah, you never did tell me. Do you have a special man in your life?" He enquired, his eyes focused on the road. Boy, he missed not being in England. American's drove on the wrong side of the road.
She glanced at all the scenery before her. "No I don't but I have been in love." She replied. Silently, she added inwardly. 'I'm in love with you, Jareth.'
Jareth nodded his head slightly. "Sarah, I want you to know I didn't have any expectations for this night." Sarah twisted her head and looked at him. "I didn't plan on kissing you but I wanted it all the same." When Sarah didn't respond, he continued. "I don't want you to run from me. You need to start being truthful with yourself and me." Sarah moved her head. It's like he was singing to her again.
~You've run so long, you've run so far~
Sarah found herself asking, clearly upset. "What do you mean?" Jacob sighed, gripping the steering wheel tightly. "I can tell you have feelings for me but something or someone is stopping you. I'm well aware our age difference will make it difficult as well. Your father wouldn't like it, I'm cer-"
Sarah stretched her mouth she was getting aggravated with how he was carrying on. For one thing, they weren't dating. For the second, her parents or her step-mother didn't give a damn about her. After Toby was returned, she tried to show them she was a changed young woman. Naturally, she would continue to act out parts from literature. She loved the art of acting. She loved Toby, she loved acting out scenes and him smiling, claps and carrying on. Even still, Irene nor her father took interest in anything she did. She shook her head. "I'm the last priority on my parents and step-mother's list. As long as I'm out of their lives, they wouldn't care if my fiancé was from a different country. Remember the night we met."
Jacob had. The way her father and step-mother spoke to her set his blood blooding. "Indeed, I have. They were only concerned about Toby." He said to her, his voice was cold. "I still don't understand why you didn't tell them you two were in a car accident."
Sarah signed. "You saved us, there was no need." She responded. Sarah glanced out of the car window. Jacob understood but he wouldn't voice his opinion. Sarah was genuinely surprised at his lack of response. Sarah turned her head at this moment to convert her emotions. "I wouldn't care what they would think." She whispered, a pained expression on her face. "You are a kind man. It's not about a May-December romance. Its-" Sarah gave him a pleading look.
He glanced at her briefly, their eyes locking. "I'm well aware I've broken a few hearts but don't look at me like that." He told her. "Your eyes can be so cruel". Sarah's heart stopped at this moment. She gazed Into his intense eyes only to see a sorrow expression on his handsome face. No, he didn't remember.
The last thing she ever wanted was to be cruel to him!
Sarah felt like his eyes carried her into an unknown spell. "Are you kidding me?" She responded, "I never intended to be cruel! You don't understand." How could he be so kind one moment and the next upset her? Jareth returned his eyes to the road. "Then explain it. You thought I wanted to tempt you into my bed. Wrong. My concern for you is genuine. Caring for you is easy. Your nervous whenever your around me. Tell me, when I touch you, do you feel alive for the first time in your life?"
Sarah gaped at him. "I told you why I'm like that around you!"
Jacob nodded, "Oh yes." He agreed. "The man I look identical to." Jacob sighed, showing Sarah a small degree of his temper. This was not how he wanted this night to go. He didn't want to argue with Sarah. "You really don't need to think on it. Will you be my date? yes or no?"
