Dimentio turned on the phone. He squinted as he tried to find a way to dim the light. Scrolling from the top and sliding down the bar with a sun on it did the trick. He rubbed his eyes. Izuku's phone wasn't on the highest brightness, but in the dark, it seemed as if it were.
Dimentio stared at the phone for a moment. He had no idea how to use a phone, much less what it actually was. He had seen worlds with technology more advanced, even replicating the holographic screens into his illusions, but never tried...using it before. He noticed an image of a microphone on the bottom. He clicked it.
"HE-"
He scrambled to turn the volume down, pressing the back button furiously so the woman would stop speaking so loudly. He found those buttons before, but had no clue what they did until now. Once it was quiet enough, he tried again.
"Hello. How can I help you today?"
Dimentio cleared his throat. "Hello. I am looking for directions to-"
"Hello."
He grimaced. "I am seeking directions to tourist attractions near..." He read the location the best he could with the dim phone light slightly illuminating the dark writing.
"There is a hero memorial on that street. It's popular with children and adults alike. Is this what you were looking for?"
"Yes. Thank you!"
"Of course. You're welcome."
"Could you tell me more of that place?"
He listened with great intent as she explained the date it opened, the reasoning why, and the heroes celebrated there. It was now counted as a landmark. And since it was about heroes, Izuku would agree that it would be an educational place to take his students. With enough persuasion, Dimentio might even be able to convince Olive to come with him.
"That's actually a great idea!" Izuku said. "I didn't think you'd want to go to someplace like that but-"
"Oh, I never said I wanted to go. I was just thinking of how you are teaching your students...The students who will surely enjoy being brainwashed by a pathetic museum."
"You're really bent on your belief of heroes, huh?"
"Of course. They are the way I see them. You say they have all these 'rules' and standards. And as I said, if a villain can do anything they can to end a game, why can a hero not do anything in their power to save it?"
"Maybe this class will help change your mind."
He scoffed. "We will see, Izuku. We shall see."
He cared little for Izuku's little lessons, he was just glad Izuku accepted his suggestion. Izuku wouldn't let anyone leave until he'd seen Dimentio eat something (the jester deciding to grab a bagel on the way out and "eat it on the way"), and then led the class to the museum Dimentio mentioned.
Dimentio looked around, then spotted Darling heading down an alleyway. Now, how to escape from Izuku unnoticed? Izuku loved to talk, even more so if it were about heroes. If he asked a question about one of them, he should be able to slip out without notice.
Izuku let the students off with a tour guide and stayed to examine some statues inside a showcase room. "Hm..."
"What are you doing?" Dimentio asked.
"I was just looking at this statue of All Might."
"That was your teacher, right? The one who gave you your Quirk?"
"SHH! Don't say that out loud! But...yeah."
"He was a strange man. He got injured once, and instead of fighting until his downfall, he hid away and gave his responsibility to a child. What a fool."
"...Dimentio?"
"Hm?"
"What...happened to you? Why are you like this? You have such strict morals, you kill for fun, you're insane...And yet you still see yourself a hero. Why?"
"I wanted to rid the world of pain. That much I can say with ease. After I...lost Piper, I lost myself. I realized how cruel the world was to people like her and I. If they do not understand it, they destroy it. They did to me, and others you call villains. You...heroes create villains because of your 'morals.' If things went my way...Then I would not have turned this way." He clutched his chest, crumpling the bow on his collar. "If you only treated everyone fairly, then villains would not be made. Us villains do what we do because we are scared. We try to survive. We do what it takes to survive. Money going to waste? Then we have to steal to live. If we get discriminated, we fight back and are called monsters because of it. Until you heroes realize your fault, villains will only appear, worse and worse, loosing all morals and becoming the way they are...without reason. It has already gotten that far, and unless you stop creating these villains, it will only get worse. Nobody can keep fighting forever, but us? We will keep trying. We will never stop until we are treated just like everyone else." Izuku saw a tear fall down his cheek. "After all, that is what I did. That is why I want everything to be fair. Because I was created from unjust behavior. So I want to prevent the same happening to others...
"So...you hurt others because you were hurt? You were hurt into becoming a villain. But if you just hurt others the way you were, you'll just create more villains."
"You are wrong! I deem to create a world without heroes or villains! Without pain! I know what people need, whether you like it or not!"
"How? How do you know what we need? The world has changed."
"Has it, Izuku? Or has it gotten worse? There are villains. Thieves! Are there still children abandoned by their parents, Izuku? IS THERE?!"
"Y-yes! But we-"
"Do you see my point?! It has not gotten better since I was born! In fact, there are places for those who were abandoned just because there are so many children being forgotten! When I was a child, it was so uncommon, so unlikely, that orphanages did not exist! The world, all words, have only gotten worse, and will keep getting worse, unless I do something! I thought Blumiere shared my vision, but he betrayed me, so I stabbed him in the back. And I hoped you would too. Even Mario, a hero himself, despised my vision. I thought at least one person would understand me, even fellow villains. But it turns out that I was wrong." He chuckled, resting his head in his hand. "But I am starting to see Blumiere's point now. Perhaps a perfect world does not exist. Perhaps all worlds do deserve to lie in ruin."
"Dimentio...Were you abandoned?"
Dimentio froze, still smiling. He started chuckling, looking at his shaking hands. He gripped his face.
"Why am I laughing...?" His voice was just as shaky as his hands. Tears started to drip under the sunglasses. "W-why am I crying...?"
"Dimentio? I'm sorry, I didn't-"
Dimentio flinched from Izuku's hand.
Izuku pulled his hand back. "Dimentio, I didn't mean to-I only asked because you seemed so focused on-I only wanted to try to help, I didn't mean to hurt you!"
"Heh...That is what they all say."
He ran off, tearing the sunglasses and mask off his face. Izuku didn't follow him. He slowed to a stop behind a building nearby. He slid down the wall, holding his face.
"They always say that...They always say they want to help..."
"So you decided to come."
Dimentio flinched, looking up to see Darling standing over him.
"Is everything alright?"
"Why do you care?"
"I have a younger sister. Just because I'm a villain doesn't mean I don't care for others. It just means that I have an issue with the world as it stands."
Dimentio wiped his eyes and stood. "Strange, I have an issue with the people who made the world this way."
"We all have our motives. Have you decided on the offer?"
Dimentio looked at the card. "Yes. I will come with you. Whatever person you work for...I am certain they will see my vision...of a perfect world..."
"Great. The entrance is right nearby. Follow me."
She started off, Dimentio following behind her. She tapped her pipe against a wall, and it slid open. She entered, waiting for Dimentio to follow. Dimentio slowly stepped in after her, and she continued. She waited at the end of a long hall, in front of a double door. The doors slid open and she led Dimentio to a large throne with a towering figure sitting in silence.
She bowed. "I found the one you call Dimentio. He willingly came with me."
"Willingly?" The voice was powerful, and a bit scratchy. The slight roughness, Dimentio recognized, was the side affect of heavy smoking.
He leaned down to Dimentio's level. He was anything but human, and quite the giant. His eyes blinked, then the smaller ones under following one-by-one. Dimentio felt a shiver crawl down his spine.
"I thought he would have put up a bit of a fight. Huh. Nice to know!" He leaned back. "So, Dimentio, huh? What's with the name? How'd you earn it?"
Dimentio bowed, extending one arm out courteously. "I am none other than the Master of Dimensions, of course."
"Oh, sweet!...So what does that mean?"
Dimentio sighed, tucking his left hand behind his back. "Well, I can control worlds to my will. And I can bend those 'rules' if I so desire. And...I can create entire worlds. Although, I have only made one and it is unfinished."
"Oh, so you're like me! I have this great little thing," he twirled some sort of strange gun in one of his tentacles, "which can make anything I want to! I made Darling's pipe with it. It can enhance her Quirk. And that other lady...Grape. I made her a pen that can change fate! So...if you want to work with me, you can get something too. What do you want? Untold riches? Better clothes? What?"
Dimentio glanced down at his clothes. "Actually, I want you to tell me what you plan to do with m-"
Izuku's phone started to ring, causing Dimentio and Darling to flinch. The giant alien shifted in his seat, the whiskers on his head wriggling happily. Dimentio grabbed it and was about to hang up, before realizing the call was from Olly. He cleared his throat, then answered.
"What's up?" He loved replicating voices. It made his tricks much more fun. Izuku's voice was fairly easy to copy.
"Oh, Izuku! I was thinking about Dimentio...He killed a lot of people, huh? But thanks to some hero friends of yours, I was able to track down Scara's lamp! We can use your wish to bring them all back! Everyone he's killed will be fine! It's somewhere in China. I'm heading there now. But anyways, how have you been? Dimentio hasn't been giving you any trouble, has he?"
"No, he's been fine. I found out that Dimentio can't use his Quirk right now. He thinks that it might be because of the Chaos Heart Entity. Oh, did you say you were heading to China?"
"Mhm."
"I'm actually there myself! I took my class on a field trip for the week. We're going to study heroes in action. They've seen all these Japanese heroes, I thought I should give them a fresh new point of view."
"That's wonderful. I know where the lamp is, so whenever we rendezvous, I can take you there! And-and Scara has seen plenty of heroes, so I'm sure she'd be happy to entertain some kids for a bit."
"Aren't you a kid?" Dimentio broke character a bit, but it was genuine question.
Olly chuckled. "Yeah, I suppose I am. So I can't really say they are kids if I am but a few years younger than them...But enough with the teasing. Where are you staying? I'll visit during dinner, if that's alright. I should arrive around then."
Dimentio told Olly the hotel name, listened to Olly ramble off about inviting a "redeemed" Dimentio to his kingdom, for a bit. Olly eventually said he should let Izuku teach his class and hung up. Dimentio pocketed Izuku's phone and cleared his throat again.
"Pardon that. It was important that Izuku accept that call."
"Izuku Midoriya? The Pro Hero of Japan?" Darling asked. "How did you replicate his voice so perfectly?"
"I am a magician. I have many a talent."
"Interesting," the alien said. "You might be more handy than I thought. I had another plan, but I think that can hold off for a bit. 40 Guy! Get in here!"
A lilac alien scurried into the room, smaller than the first, and had a friendly energy about him. He looked to Dimentio, jolting a bit.
"You look different than your picture." He sounded young, to be sure. He faced the giant. "What is it, Create-O-Guy?"
Create-O-Guy...
Create-O-Guy smiled down at 40 Guy. "Remember that picture you took of our guest here? You're going to need to toss it out. He's here now, and he need his most recent style in order for this to work."
"Right!" He saluted with half his right tentacles. He pulled a camera from who-knows-where. "Say cheese!"
"...What?"
"Just smile!"
That, he understood. He tucked both hands behind his back, straightening his stance, and smiled. He had to open his mouth slightly, as per the usual, to make sure his face matched the same grin as that from his mask. 40 Guy snapped the image and hurried off to print the picture.
"Alright! So while 4D's doing that, I'll fill you two in on my new idea." Create-O-Guy slid from his throne, stomping his way to the door they entered from. "So, 40 Eyes made us a printer. It doesn't sound too interesting, but when you print an image through it, it creates a realistic copy of the image! So if we were to print that picture of Dimentio, it'll pop out a tangible clone of him, exact personality, powers, and all! It'll work the same as your usual clones, Dimentio, except they don't die by being touched, and they can be touched!"
"Intriguing," Dimentio muttered. He didn't want to seem to interested, in case all went sour. He also lacked trust towards Create-O-Guy so far, and Darling was too mysterious that she was suspicious.
"Here, let me show you." He motioned towards a large white machine in the room he led them to.
He walked over, holding an image. He inserted it and pressed a button. The printer buzzed and whirred, and popped out a flat replica of the image. It stood straight. It looked to be an orange cat, lined with black stripes, standing on its hind legs.
"Where...am I?" The image clone asked.
"But it's still too...flat." Create-O-Guy grabbed a cup that sat nearby, and filled it with water by tipping his strange gun like a pitcher over the lip of the glass.
"Who is that? Actually, this isn't the weirdest thing I've seen." The clone looked around. "Is this an alien ship?"
Create-O-Guy held out the cup over the clone's head. "And since they're too flat still, they work like paper. So if they get wet..."
Dimentio watched as he dumped the cup over the clone. It screamed in agony, flailing its arms like a beached fish, as it denigrated into a soggy puddle of paper on the ground. Darling seemed a bit disturbed. Dimentio, however saw great value in a weapon like that. If Dimentio were to...annoy him, he could simply threaten the little clone of him. It would be amusing, to see Izuku's fearful look as Dimentio reveals more ways he knows how to kill a man. He couldn't help but chuckle.
"So, since you can copy Izuku so well, I need you to do something for me."
"What is the issue, mousier?"
"Olly thinks Izuku answered the call. And since Izuku's supposed to be watching you, he'll figure things out if Olly shows up expecting Izuku and Izuku wasn't expecting him."
"Oh, I see! You want a clone of mine to disguise as Izuku and commute with Olly!"
"Yes, I'm glad you figured that out. We can't have anything going wrong with this plan, you hear me?"
"Of course, Create-O-Guy. I will not fail you...I will not betray your wishes."
"Great. Now, Grape's in the room by my room. Go say hi, if you want. You two will be working together for the time being. Whenever you come with a plan to capture Olive, tell Darling. She'll lead the plan out fully."
Darling curtsied.
"Of course," Dimentio said. "I will make sure to give her a...proper welcome."
