The inside of Rhonda was silent as they drove away from the Hole 'N Fun. "I don't think I realized just how important you two were to Willow until just now," Branch said after an hour of silence, addressing Trollex and Barb. He shook his head and smiled. "Of course, she would make you two promise bracelets."
Trollex smiled and looked at his bracelet fondly. "Sweet Beat never does anything halfway, that's for sure."
"Were you really going to tear down the Hole 'N Fun walls if Viva didn't let us go?" Clay looked at the two royals, concerned.
Barb smirked. "Yeah, dude. I'll take down anything that gets in the way of me getting Willow back."
"Let's just be glad Viva changed her mind," Branch raised an amused eyebrow at the Rock Queen. "I've seen the kind of damage she can do. The Putt Putts wouldn't have stood a chance."
Clay was about to respond when they felt Rhonda pull to a stop. "What's going on?" Bruce asked, looking at his older brother. "Why are we stopping?"
"Rhonda needs a break," John Dory climbed out of the driver's seat. "She's been going a little too hard, and using the hustle button took a lot out of her. We'll stop for the night and get some rest."
"We can't stop now," Branch protested, looking at John Dory, frustrated. "Willow and Floyd are in trouble."
"We need to be well rested if we're going to do the perfect family harmony," John Dory insisted. "Don't worry, Bitty B. We'll get there in time to save our siblings."
Barb looked ready to argue when Trollex placed an arm on her shoulder. "He's not wrong, Barbed Wire." He pulled her to the side of the armadillo bus, away from the others. "Let's get some rest. We don't want Sweet Beat to think we haven't been taking care of ourselves, right? We need some sleep."
Barb sighed and nodded in agreement. The two of them had difficulty sleeping while looking for Willow, so she knew they both needed some rest. She accepted the pillows and blanket John Dory handed her for the two of them, and they made themselves a pallet on Rhonda's floor. "Night, guys," she muttered, lying down with her boyfriend before falling asleep.
Branch and Poppy went to the wall near the couch to lie down. "Hey, Branch?" Poppy spoke up after they settled down. When he responded, she continued. "Thanks for dropping off that scrapbook for me." She remembered her scrapbook of her and Bridget she saw Branch leave behind. "While I wish I could have shown her how friendly the Bergens are now, I'm glad she'll get to look through it in her own time."
"Of course," Branch muttered, turning around to hold his girlfriend. "I'm sorry we had to leave so fast you couldn't do it yourself. Maybe when we get done saving Willow and Floyd, we can spend more time convincing your sister it's safe to leave the Hole 'N Fun."
Poppy sighed and snuggled into her boyfriend's arms. "Yeah, maybe." She wasn't confident in their ability to change her sister's mind, but she was grateful Branch seemed willing to try. "Goodnight, Branch. Sleep well."
It was easy for Willow to play dead while Velvet and Veneer prepared for their concert. They weren't paying attention, so she didn't have to do much besides not move. "Ugh," Velvet groaned, annoyed. "No sign of BroZone?"
"No," Veneer sat up from the couch. "But I have an idea. We could practice."
Velvet looked at him and laughed. "I want to be famous, but I'm not gonna work for it." She cringed. "Ew."
"Come on," Veneer smiled encouragingly. "We used to make up little dances together all the time, remember?" He twisted around to show her an old dance move they did when they were younger. "Hip, hip. Twist, flip."
"Our dances sucked," Velvet rolled her eyes and her brother's hurt look. "How many fans do you think we can get making up sucky dances?" She grabbed Willow's bottle and started shaking it when she didn't move. "Hey, hello. Hello in there. Wake up." She frowned when Willow didn't move. "Oh."
Floyd stood up in his prison. "Willow!" He glared up at the two captors. "You monsters! You killed her!"
"She's dead?" Veneer frowned at Willow and grabbed Floyd's bottle, concerned. "Oh, man." He began to hyperventilate. "What have we done? What do we do?" He looked at Floyd, panicked. "This wasn't supposed to happen!"
Velvet thought for a moment before looking at her brother. "You remember the goldfish you had as a kid?"
"You mean Sparkles?" Veneer looked at his sister, curious, as she led him to the toilet. Floyd blanched at that. Were they going to flush Willow down the toilet? So much for that plan. "Mm-kay," Veneer sighed, holding Willow's prison. "Goodbye, little lady."
"Please hurry up and flush," Velvet said, annoyed. Willow opened her eyes, confused. What was happening? Being this close to you next to a toilet makes me uncomfortable. Her eyes widened as she stood up. There was no way she was going to be flushed.
"Run!" Floyd shouted as they pushed their prisons out of Veneer's hands. Willow and Floyd ran as fast as they could inside their diamond prisons. However, it wasn't easy, and Willow was starting to hurt. "Come on, sis," Floyd encouraged as they ran, Veneer chasing after them. "We'll get out of here soon, I know it."
"Yeah," Willow lied, a strained smile on her face. "We'll get out of here." She doubted they would both get out of there, though. She was exhausted and in pain from everything that had happened in the past two months. There was no way she would get out of there. But Floyd, he could get out. Maybe he could even meet up with their brothers and stop them from walking into the death trap that was Mount Rageous.
Willow didn't have any time to think of the what-ifs, though, because when she considered slowing down to give her brother a chance, they were scooped up by Veneer. "Gotcha," he cheered, lying on his back while holding them.
"Please, Veneer," Floyd begged, looking up at the teenager holding them. "Let us run past you. You can pretend you never saw us." He gestured to Willow. "At the very least, let her go. She's not gonna make it here, man. Please," he smiled, scared. "It'll be our little secret."
Veneer looked over to the way they had run. "I can't," He looked at Floyd apologetically.
"I know," Floyd sighed, disappointed. "Velvet would kill you. But just because she's your sister doesn't mean you should let her treat you like garbage." Willow nodded in agreement, looking at Veneer.
"Doesn't it?" Veneer frowned, confused.
"No," Willow and Floyd said at the same time. The two looked at each other and smiled. "Sibling or not, you deserve to be treated with kindness and to be around people who would never try to change who you are," Willow continued, her smile never leaving her face.
Before Veneer could respond, Velvet showed up. "You got them," Velvet smiled and approached her brother. "Hey, I probably don't say this enough, but good job." She grabbed Willow's bottle in one hand and helped Veneer up with the other. "We make a great team, don't we, bro?"
Veneer sighed and smiled at his sister. "Yeah, we really do."
"Now, come on," Velvet smiled and started walking down the hallway. "We should probably hire a new assistant, which feels like a you job."
Veneer smiled as they made their way back to their dressing room. "Crimp! Hire us a new assistant!"
When the two returned to the dressing room, Velvet looked at Willow critically. "Ugh, you weren't wrong about this one not looking so good, though." Her eyes brightened, and she grabbed Floyd's bottle. "I have an idea." She opened the tops of the bottles and tossed Willow inside Floyd's diamond prison. "There. That should make them both last longer." Floyd hurried to catch his little sister before she could hit the bottom of the bottle.
"What are you doing that for?" Veneer furrowed his brow, confused. "I thought the whole point was to have a Troll for each of us."
"We're supposed to be getting BroZone soon," Velvet reminded her brother, eyebrow raised. "And we only need four diamonds. This way, they'll last longer, and we can use all of them." At his continued hesitation, Velvet rolled her eyes. "Look, I'll take the used ones, and you can use two of the newer ones when they get here. Does that make you feel better?"
Veneer sighed and nodded his head. "Yeah, that's fine." The two Mount Rageons used the Trolls in the diamond bottle before leaving the room.
Floyd frowned and watched the two siblings walk away for their concert before turning to the Troll in his arms. "Are you hurting anymore, Willow?"
Willow grimaced and moved out of her brother's arms. "No more so than usual," she admitted. She smiled at him before hugging him. "It's so good to hold onto another Troll, though. I finally get to hug my big brother."
"Yeah," Floyd agreed with a smile before returning her hug, mindful of any injuries she may be hiding. "And I finally get to hug my little sister." He sighed. "I'm sorry I couldn't get him to let you go."
"It's okay," Willow smiled. "I couldn't leave knowing you were still stuck here." She looked outside of the prison they now shared. "Now all we can do is wait and hope John Dory manages to get everyone here soon."
Practice with the brothers was not going well, Barb decided. She and Trollex watched, bored, as Poppy tried to help Branch and his brothers practice the song they would sing to reach the perfect family harmony.
However, she found some amusement since Branch's oldest brother had managed to stick him in a diaper. "You're not really going to make him wear that thing for the harmony, are you?" Trollex raised an amused eyebrow at the sight. John Dory had just suggested Branch wear a smaller diaper because the harmony wasn't working.
"Because Willow is going to make fun of you for letting that happen if you are," Barb added, grinning. She shook her head. "But seriously, I don't think your clothing is what's off about this harmony.
Branch groaned, frustrated. "I knew it!" He stormed off to change into his regular clothes. "Never should have agreed to the stupid diaper."
John Dory waved a dismissive hand at the two royals. "Of course, the clothes are a part of it. We were so close to getting the perfect family harmony last time. We have to recreate it. And that means everything has to be the same." He turned to his brothers. "Let's take it from the top."
"No," Clay frowned. "They have a point." He glared at the oldest brother. "You've got to stop being so bossy."
"I'm not being bossy," John defended. "I'm helping us be better."
"No," Clay shook his head. "You're trying to force us back into these perfect little bubbles, just like you always have."
"It's called the perfect family harmony," John reminded him. "And this is for Floyd and Willow, remember?"
"Is it?" Bruce asked, taking off his sunglasses. "Or is this all just so you can tell people what to do again?"
Barb frowned at the argument starting. "This is stupid," she muttered to Trollex. "Let's just go to Mount Rageous and get Willow back ourselves."
Trollex nodded as the arguing got louder. "Call Riff and get your angler bus ready, Babe. We're out of here. Maybe the funk tribe could help us figure something out."
"Guys," Branch spoke up, getting Barb and Trollex's attention. "We can't forget about our siblings. This is for them, right?"
John Dory sighed. "Branch is right. We're here for Floyd and Willow. Let's get this over with, and we can go our separate ways."
"What?" Branch asked, devastated as his brothers agreed.
"What?" John Dory raised an eyebrow. "The mission's the mission." He snorted, incredulous. "You didn't think we'd all live together when this was over? Singing songs and roasting marshmallows?"
"I'm sorry. Is that funny to you?" Branch glared. "That I want us to be a family again? You'd want to stick around and finally get to know your baby sister, who, I remind you, doesn't know who you are!" He pulled out his picture of his bunker, and smiled at the additions Willow had added when she was two.
Bruce scoffed. "Don't be a baby, Branch. You know that's not how this works."
"Do I?" Branch glared at his older brother. "You're all mad at him, but you've been doing the exact same thing to me. You all still treat me like the baby of the family, but I stopped being a baby the day you walked out on me." He laughed incredulously. "Then Grandma got eaten, and I had to raise my little sister, who is only two years younger than me!"
Branch sighed, his vision blurred. "And now the only reason I'm still around is trapped and scared, and my brothers can't be bothered to stop fighting long enough to help." He shook his head and turned to the door. "But that's fine, I don't need you. I guess I never did." He looked at Barb and Trollex. "You said something about getting Riff up here?" When Barb nodded, he continued. "Any chance you'd take me to Mount Rageous?"
"We got you, man," Trollex wrapped an arm around Branch's shoulder. "Don't worry, we'll get them back."
Branch smiled and dropped his bunker drawing as they walked to the door. "Thanks."
Barb looked at Poppy as she followed Branch and her boyfriend out the door. The Pop Queen had bent down to pick up the drawing. "You coming, Poppy?"
Poppy looked up and smiled at the Rock Queen. "Give me a minute, okay?" Barb shrugged and nodded before walking out of the armadillo bus.
Poppy turned to the older brothers and showed them the picture of the bunker. "You know, Branch and Willow built this bunker. They've been living in it for over twenty-three years." She lowered the picture with a sigh. "It never occured to me there was a reason they built so many rooms. But it's clear now that they built it for you guys."
Poppy glared at the brothers, irritated. "Where were you all? What took you so long to come back for your youngest siblings? And more importantly, why weren't you there when their grandma died?" She shook her head and turned to the door. "You all made your opinions clear. You have no intention of being a family after this, so don't bother looking for Branch or Willow again. They don't deserve to get their hopes up to have them destroyed again." She gave the brothers a sad smile. "Take care of yourselves. And don't worry about Branch, Willow, or even Floyd. The Pop Trolls will take care of them. They'll be in good hands." She closed Rhonda's door, leaving the three oldest BroZone brothers behind.
That did not end well for BroZone. Good thing Barb and Tollex are there with a backup ride for Branch and Poppy. Thank you so much for reading everybody and I'll see you next time!
