AN: Hi guys here is another chapter. Thank you for the reviews and favourites and also those who follow. You give me the courage to keep writing. Please enjoy. There is a steamy scene, just a heads up.
A week has passed, and not much has happened. After their Facebook debacle, they were invited to have dinner with her brother at his favourite diner. The incident was kept from Charles because she didn't want to agitate her brother or even embarrass herself by being known as the teacher who complains about teenagers getting to her on her first day.
Surprisingly, everyone lost interest in the picture the next day. After lunch, Bella came to her and recounted how Lauren had been spitting mad about her blocked Facebook account. The most interesting thing was hearing how the picture was deleted minutes after their departure on Monday and that not a single copy was to be found. Hermione smirked and thanked the gods and whoever looked out for her.
Her classes were going smoothly. She did get the odd male student flirting with her, but other than that, it went well. The Cullens were also great to have as students. They always submitted top-notch work compared to the other dunderheads (like Professor Snape always called the slow-minded student), but she knew it was a bit unfair to compare the vamps to the other students. At least her method of teaching literature had all the other students more interested in reading.
She also noticed that Edward Cullen had been absent for a week. Hopefully, it wasn't something she said. They celebrated Charles's 44th birthday at the diner on Thursday. She and Bella gifted her brother an all-expense paid trip to Italy, for him and a companion. He laughed and said that was more a retirement gift than a birthday one and he doesn't have a significant other. Who knows, maybe someone will enter his life soon. Hermione would just have to wait for her chance to play Cupid.
Present Time
Bella and Hermione were getting ready for their second week of school. Today would be the first staff meeting for the semester, meaning she would be introduced to her colleagues for the first time since she started. It would have been earlier if she had not taken her lunches in her classroom or driven out to have lunch at that diner Charles loved so much. She was now a regular and they had her meals ready by the time she arrived.
When Hermione got out of the car, she was pleasantly surprised to see that old Eddy was back, standing next to a silver Volvo. " He's back!" She heard Bella's breathy whisper and rolled her eyes. That idiot probably heard that and was feeling good about himself but let's burst that bubble, shall we? "And with stiffer hair than before. He could probably poke all his admirers' eyes out." She smirked when she heard Emmett's booming laugh. "He already has a huge ego Bell's, don't stroke it too much," Hermione continued as they giggled and made their way inside.
"I wasn't stroking his ego. I just thought it could be my fault that he was sick or absent." She answered in a small voice. Hermione raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean your fault?" ' Here I thought it could be my fault.' she thought. "After we left your class for biology the first day, I used the bathroom and was nearly 10 minutes. Upon entering the classroom Edward covered his nose as if he smelled something terrible, with the only available seat being next to him" Bella covered her face with her hands as if she was reliving the most embarrassing moment in her life, but continued, "He stared at me the entire class, while holding his breath and was up and out before the bell even rang. It weirded me out." She glanced over in his direction. "He went to the office, meaning my smell could have made him sick for a week." She looked terrified at the prospect as if her chances with him were shot dead.
Hermione sighed. Bella had a crush on the parasite, and he had a problem resisting her niece's blood, as if she was in the mood to deal with this.
Students greeted her as she and Bella walked past. "Bells I have a staff meeting this afternoon and was wondering if you could catch a lift with Angela. You can let me know when I get your class after lunch, okay?" They came to a halt before Hermione's classroom.
"I will ask her at lunchtime but let me get to biology before Mr Molina pairs me with Mike again. See you later Aunt Mia?" she went back the way they came and took a left down another hallway.
Hermione went into her classroom and set everything up for her class at 8:30. "Could I speak to you for a moment?" Just when she was starting to enjoy his absence. She turned around and faced him. He closed the door behind him after entering. "What about?" she leaned back against her desk.
Edward looked a bit unsure but took a deep breath and composed himself. "I promise I have no control over it, but I am convinced that Bella is my mate." He blurted out before he lost his nerve. Hermione's eyes narrowed, "Before you react, please hear me out" he said with his hands raised as if to calm a wild animal. "I ran away for a week after being faced with the revelation. Thinking the distance will dull whatever it is I was feeling." Hermione waited patiently for him to come to a point, and he did. "I discussed it with my family before coming here to ask if I, Edward Cullen could take Bella Swan on a date. Only If it is okay with you Miss Granger?" For the first time in his life, Edward Cullen felt insecure.
Hermione was busy restraining herself mentally, otherwise she would incendio the parasite where he stood. The audacity of this locust. "What makes you think I would agree to such a thing? According to the vampiric law, you are not supposed to have relationships with humans unless you plan on changing that person. So, Edward Cullen are you planning on changing my niece into a bloodsucker?" By now she had already taken out her wand and twirled it around her fingers. He looked confused at the stick in her hands. "No, I want Bella to have a long and happy human life. I want to be able to be with her till her last breath and then I would go to the Volturi for my end." 'Or come to me' Hermione thought.
"Say, for instance, I agree to you dating my niece. How do you plan on keeping your little frostbite secret?" She cocked her head to the side, studying him and unnerving him at the same time. "You do know there are strict rules that forbid humans to know about the existence of vampires. This could come at the cost of my niece's life."
Edward growled at the thought of losing Bella at the hand of death. "So, turning her would be the only viable option if you want to continue down this path of dating." Hermione continued.
Snapping out of whatever funk he was in. He narrowed his eyes at Hermione "How do you know so much about vampires and our governing coven?" the question held a good amount of suspicion. Hermione gripped her wand tight. Knuckles turning white. "Not that it's any of your business, but I know a lot about, the supernatural world you live in. I am a part of that world," she answered through gritted teeth.
He raised a curious eyebrow, "What are you, if not a human?"
"I'm a witch."
Something clicked inside his head. "You could do magic?" it was more a statement than a question. She nodded. "All the threats you gave me weren't empty at all." He whispered more to himself than to her. He came across her kind a few times in his 117 years and it was glimpses of the terror her kind left in their wake.
Hermione being slightly annoyed with the whole conversation made the wand movement to cast a silent incendio. The fire made Edward jump back against the closed door trying to flatten himself against it. If his siblings saw him now, terrified out of his mind because of a mere human. They would never let him live it down. "Yes, Eddy all my threats were and still are valid. Charles and Bella do not know about me being a witch and I expect it to remain that way." She was standing directly in front of him with her wand pointed at his throat. "To answer your first question", walking back to her desk before facing him again "Yes, you may court my niece on one condition. You don't tell her what you are unless she figures it out herself and don't even think about dropping any hints." Narrowing her eyes at the last sentence.
"You may go, my class is about to arrive." Hermione promptly dismissed and ignored him for the paperwork on her desk.
Taking that as his queue. He said a quick thank you and dashed out of the class as if his undead life depended on it. She smirked and leaned back in her chair. 'He should thank his lucky stars I believe in equal rights for all magical beings otherwise I would have burned him to ashes.' she thought. Just then the bell rang and so her day began.
Staff meeting
The Forks High staff meeting was already in full swing when Hermione walked in, her long, wavy honey blonde hair bouncing with each step. She flashed a bright smile at her colleagues as she took her seat, trying to ignore the flutter in her chest. She was nervous about meeting the other teachers, knowing they were much older and more experienced than her.
She was seated next to the gym teacher Coach Clapp. He seemed a bit old to be the gym teacher, they would find his replacement soon. There were four females including herself and six males excluding the principal who was not there yet.
Hermione was furiously typing again on her cell, corresponding with the lawyers who ran their family affairs. They were busy reasoning with the builders for a better price for renovating the castle, they were expensive. She may be rich, but she will not be exploited. While she was busy with her phone a certain teacher was entranced by her beauty. From her caramel locks flowing down to her waist like liquid gold to her dainty feet in the most sensual red bottoms. Have shoes always been this appetising on a woman's feet? Was the only thing running through his mind.
The arrival of the principal made everyone snap to attention as if someone was busy dosing off. That was most likely the case with most of the teachers being old enough to retire. Hermione's eyes snapped to Principal Greene when mentioned her name. "Sorry, Principal what were you saying?" she asked, cheeks colouring at not having paid attention.
"I was just introducing you as the new English lit teacher. It seems like everyone here is meeting you for the first time. Would you like to say hi and let them get to know you more?" Greene went on cheerily reminding her of Professor Slughorn.
Still a bit pink in the face, Hermione stood and smiled brightly at all the other stuff, missing the small gasp coming from across her. "Good afternoon fellow staff members, as you already know my name is Hermione Granger, I am 20 years old, and I am Charles Swan's little sister." Not having anything else to say, she took her seat again after nodding to the principal.
Greene continued the introductions of the other staff "and this is Mr Molina the youngest staff member before you came along." Mr Molina stepped forward to shake her hand and gave her a smouldering look from behind the thickest eyelashes she had ever seen. 'Oh My' she always liked that on a man and the look he was giving her was almost sinful. 'Maybe I can find out what that look could have in store for me.' She bit her lip and released it slowly from between her teeth and watched with satisfaction as his eyes followed the movement. 'Mm, interesting.' "Nice to meet you Mr Molina." dropping her voice an octave only for him to hear. She always had a thing for older men, her love for Harry being an exception.
"That's it for the meeting. Same time next month, if something urgent arises you know where to find me. You may go and Miss Granger don't be a stranger, do have lunch with some of the other staff now and again." Greene left with a chuckle at her red face. The other staff rushed out the door themselves eager for that afternoon nap.
"Well, Miss Granger, it was an honour meeting you. Hope it won't be the last I'll be seeing of you," he pulled her close by her hand, their bodies almost touching. His face was mere inches away. "Because I sure would like to get to know you better." His eyes flickered from her eyes to her lips. Hermione licked her lips with anticipation. Was he going to kiss her? Will she allow it? She always longed for someone to kiss her like Viktor did, with passion and fire. She always thought it would be Harry kissing her senselessly, but that would never be possible. Now Mr Molina was here awakening something inside her that had been missing since her breakup with Viktor.
Feeling a little daring, she placed her hands on his chest gripped his shirt and pulled him flush against her. "Maybe we could start now." she inched her mouth closer to his. It was like something primal inside her was pushing her to jump this man. She was certain he would let her have her way with him, she could smell his arousal. She was acting like her Animagus form when it was in heat, she usually avoided changing when it was that time of the month. It recently started to bleed into her human form and its wreaking havoc on her lady parts, making her want to jump any red-blooded male in her vicinity. Guess it's that time of the month again for her Animagus. One kiss wouldn't hurt, would it?
Their breath mingling, just a few millimetres and everything would make sense again, she thought. Lips were just about to touch when "Uhm Miss Granger, oh I'm so sorry Mr Molina. I promise I didn't see anything." They jump away from one another trying to make themselves look presentable again. Hermione looked over to the student who interrupted them and sighed in relief. It was Alice Cullen. The Cullens are the only students that she could trust not to spread gossip about what they saw, they kept mostly to themselves.
"It's okay Miss Cullen, I was just on my way out." said Mr Molina as he gathered his stuff "See you tomorrow, Miss Granger. Miss Cullen." He gave Hermione one last longing look before disappearing out the door.
Hermione still pink from the earlier doings sighed and then remembered she wasn't alone. "Miss Cullen what can I help you with?" she asked, her belongings already in hand walking towards Alice. "Just Alice, please. Bella wanted me to tell you that she and Chief Swan are at the hospital and not to worry, everything is fine." Alice recounted cheerfully without a care in the world.
"WHAT! Why! What happened? Why didn't they call me?" Hermione was all but frantic.
"Bella was waiting for Angela next to her car when Crowly lost control of his vehicle when the tyre skidded across the ice. He almost crushed Bella with his van, but Edward got to her in time and managed to stop a tragedy from happening. They tried calling you a few times, but you didn't answer, so Bella sent me." Throughout the story, Hermione was getting more and more worried. While she was busy getting handsy with Mr Molina, her niece could have been seriously hurt. She would have never forgiven herself.
"Could you show me the way to the hospital please Alice?"
"It would be my pleasure."
They got there just when Bella was discharged with a clean bill of health. Hermione made her way over and squeezed the life out of Bella. "I'm so glad you are okay. So sorry I wasn't here earlier" She buried her face in Bella's hair. Bella being used to her aunt's affection wrapped her arms around Hermione and reassured her she was okay. Charlie had a smile on his face watching his two favourite girls get along. Hermione released Bella and went over to her brother and hugged him too.
Edward stood a few feet away and watched the family interact, feeling warmth rush through him knowing his mate was well looked after. Hermione was heading to him, and he steadied himself for a lashing, but was pleasantly surprised when Hermione hugged him. "Thank you. I don't know what I would have done if I lost her. Thank you, Edward." He hugged her back more gently. "I would protect her with my life Hermione. There is no me without her." She smiled at the automatic reply, he didn't have a choice but to protect his other half.
She released him from the hug and gave him a rare genuine smile. "Welcome to my family Eddy." By that time Bella and Charles were already next to them. "Charles come meet Bella's boyfriend." "What!" "It's not true, we're just friends." Charlie and Bella replied at the same time. Hermione started to laugh "Just expect to see more of our dear Eddy over here Charles. Let's go home. I had enough excitement for one day."
Everyone made their way out of the hospital parking lot completely missing the figure standing in the woods across the road. Eyes glued on a certain witch.
