A Japanese Weresheep in Mutsuba Town

Pairing: Developing Yuhi x Chupataro.

Summary:

There are some forms of alien activity even MIK turns a blind eye to. The truly alien activity between Chupataro and Ohdo Yuhi, for instance.

Chapter 149: Princess Monono…Princess of Beasts

He had some kind of a poison inside him, driving him mad. A poisonous hatred that consumed his heart and flesh, and turned him into a demon monster.

You may think this was Yuhi, who was transformed by Dark Power into Otes, but…

This was Yudias. The devil god thatched into the inside of Yuhi's eyelids as he awoke and found himself on an unknown mountain.

Such anger. Such fire and sorrow. This was Yuhi's sole memory of his time as Otes. Yudias' tearful rage, directed his way.

Why was he so mad? He'd never seen Yudias that angry before.

But his friend slash student slash annoying uncle's eyes weren't red. Glowing red eyes like the eyes in the forest around him.

Those triggered a memory in him, after he fell from the sky in his underwear.

"Chupataro? Is that you?"

"Wrong answer, idiot!"

Not Chupataro.

"Epoch?"

The red eyes got closer, revealing themselves as belonging to a pack of animals marked with similarly red strips painted across their eyes, brighter than blood. Epoch was riding on the back of a hairy, yellow boar, and promptly flipped up the skull mask she was wearing.

"I can't believe I ran into you here! What'd I miss? You're clearly over being Otes, epo!"

"What? Not Yuamu, but me? I was Otes?"

"You don't remember, epo?"

"No, I…"

Yuhi was relieved it was someone he recognized instead of flesh-hungry wolves, yet was still missing Chupataro. Bare minimum, he knew from the heartache he was feeling that he was entirely Ohdo Yuhi again.

"Just be glad it was us who got to you first and not the kotodama, epo!"

"Kotodama? Where are we?"

"More like 'When are we?' Welcome to the Sengoku Era, epo!"

"The Sengoku Era? That's where we are?"

Again. When.

"And kotodama? What d'ya mean there are tree spirits here?"

"Well, I certainly didn't mean Earthdama!"

"I don't follow."

"They aren't real spirits. Don't ask me how, but the boss of the samurai threatening these animals has been using Duel Disks to summon monsters to spy on us. The kotodama are all over the place, hiding in the leaves, epo!"

Yosenju.

"Eh? Duel Disks? In the Sengoku Era? How?"

"I just told you not to ask me how, idiot! Right now, we have to get out of this neck of the woods, epo!"

"Why?"

"The kotodama are pests, but Otei Usu has a much bigger weapon prowlin' about!"

"Otei Usu?"

"Everyone! Fall back, epo!"

Yuhi's follow-up question wasn't even out his mouth. A deer bit his shirt and tossed him onto its back, taking off over the uneven terrain.

…

The ground and sky quaked.

A hand pushed up through the land, knobs like thumbs growing off each of its fingers.

"The Earthbound God…"

Ccapac Apu straightened to full height and began walking, covered in the white-hot steam of its nightly rebirth. There was no doubt in Yuhi's mind the geoglyph on legs influenced stories of the mythological giants called daidarabotchi.

"It's on the move, epo!"

The forest creatures fled the giant's lumbering footsteps. Except the boar Epoch was on and the deer Yuhi was on, steering the Princess of Beasts and her newest employee within striking range of the bodyguard to Otei Usu's castle.

Card games on wild animals. What would come next?

"I send Dicemite Girl Chirori and Dicekey Mix to the Graveyard. Fusion Summon! Now, roll, roll, roll the dice! Is it odd? Even? It's all up to chance! I bet and I bet! Dicemite Gyame Double-Up Chirori!"

"Let's go! Maximum Summon! Join and be invincible! Join and become infinite! Join with destiny! It's time to settle this! Mega Jointech Fortrex!"

Their monsters floated/ran alongside them, underwhelming in size compared to Ccapac Apu despite having the same ATK as the Earthbound God, and despite one of them being a Maximum.

"Dicemite Dynamite!"

"Trembling Destiny Crush!"

Self-destruction wouldn't be an issue if they felled their adversary. Unfortunately, the dice bombs thrown by Dicemite Gyame Double-Up Chirori, as well as Mega Jointech Fortex's triplex attack, passed through Ccapac Apu as though the titan really were only a hologram.

"Damn!"

"Our attacks aren't having any effect, epo!"

What's up with this monster? Why isn't it takin' any hits?

Epoch had a noticeable preference over Yuhi's quiet consideration, shrieking at her Fusion Monster to not give up the fight.

Ccapac Apu didn't slow its march. Evidently, Double-Up Chirori wasn't even a fly worth swatting. A slight which only further inflamed Epoch's fury.

Otei Usu…Is it possible you're the real Otes? Yes. I became Otes. But that's all in the past. Or…the future. Because of me, Epoch was sucked into Time Machine and –! Yuamu. Yudias. What I've done is terrible. The bottom line is, if somehow, he's really Otes, we won't let him do as he pleases! We won't let him and the samurai continue choppin' down the trees and continue hurtin' the animals!

Otes and Otei Usu. The names were too similar for it to be a coincidence.

Crap! How do we beat this monster? Monster…Monster…That's it! Yuhi smacked himself for not grasping the truth sooner. "That must be it!"

"What must be it?"

"Since it's a Monster Card, maybe the fact it can't be attacked…"

Epoch caught on. "Is a monster effect, epo!"

"Yuamu, I'm borrowin' your strategy, okay? I send a card from my hand to the Graveyard to activate the Magic Card, Cointech Modulate! I toss a coin once. If it's heads: the opponent's Defence Position monster. If it's tails: the opponent's Attack Position Monster. I change that monster's battle position!"

Strong Duelists always have luck on their side. The goddess of luck smiled upon Yuhi.

"Tails! Earthbound God Ccapac Apu is shadowed!"

"Epo! Say goodnight to that invulnerability, IDIOT! Dicemite Gyame Double-Up Chirori!"

"Mega Jointech Fortrex!"

"COMBINATION ATTACK! DYNAMITE DESTINY CRUSH!"

The first explosion blew a hole below the Earthbound God's head. The second was discharged in the same spot, decapitating it.

Ccapac Apu's headless body bobbled briefly, then lights like a hundred souls spewed out of its gaping wound.

Otei Usu's vassal returned to dust.
