Guess who's back! That's right I'm back and ready for this story to continue and give a giant f to canon. We're doing this my way so buckle up and enjoy the ride
We all went to the kitchens where outside the ovens with father and the cooks watching as a small dragon hatchling was squealing and chirping as they tried to wiggle out of their broken shell.
"Aw you were supposed to wait for Ava," Abiagael giggled. Father gave a small chuckle as he helped the hatchling from the shell into the palm of his hand, "Welcome to the world my son."
Our brother gave a small mew as he looked up at father than to us.
"Well I was busy," I chuckled, stepping closer to father, "Meet your grandfather and uncle, Gwen."
Father looked down at my daughter as she let out a yawn. My brother doing the same.
"Not even an hour old and they're mimicking each other," Bowen chuckled.
"They did make big entrances," Auther smiled, wrapping his arm around me.
"What shall you name him," Abeagel asked as she got a towel to clean him of shell goop.
"I've thought of his Dragon name, but he'll need something the rest of his family can use," father smiled looking to Bowen and Kara, "What do you think, Bowen?"
Bowen stepped closer to our brother as he was cleaned. His coloring was a faint style of father's his underside was a hint more reddish.
"Not very creative but how about Drake.?"
"We did talk about that name if you had a boy," he looked back to me.
"Drake son of Draco," Kara tested the name, "Not bad."
"Has a good sound," Brother Gilbert nodded as he looked at Gwen, "And Princess Gweniver. Daughter of Queen Ava Dragonscale and Prince Consort Sir Aurther."
The cooks gave happy cheers and claps. This made our newborns whimper at the new noise. Cook shushed the others when he noticed father and I soothing them. Once both were calm, I noticed how exhausted I was, leaning against Aurther for support.
"Darling," he whispered with concern.
"Mm…it's alright, love. I just…realizing that I am exhausted."
"Better get you back to bed," he said, sweeping me up into his arms. Kara took Gwen so my arms were free as my soon-to-be husband carried me back to our room just as the housekeepers finished changing the sheets and even making sure our daughter's crib was nice and soft for her by our bed side.
"Already for you, your majesty," the housekeepers smiled.
"Thank you," I yawned as Aurther laid me down in bed. Kara did the same to Gwen in her crib.
"You rest up," he kissed my forehead then my lips, "And know I couldn't be more amazed and infatuated by you."
I could only smile at him as my eyes grew heavy, falling asleep as he pulled the blankets up to my chin. While Kara watched over Gwen as I slept.
News of the royal newborns spread through the castle quickly. The servants went rushing amongst themselves giddily speaking of the princess and dragon prince. Some even began to set out plans for the celebrations that were to come.
Aurther was to take his crown as my husband and king, our marriage celebrated, and our daughter presented to the kingdom. Thankfully while I recovered the others handled the preparations, letting me rest and focus my energy on my daughter.
Everything was set two weeks after the birth. That day our marriage official and Aurther became my king. At the wedding feast we presented Gwen and Drake to the kingdom. Many brought gifts as they got to see their princess and prince. When the celebrations concluded Aurther and I spent the next two weeks on our honeymoon. Barely leaving each other's side as we fawned over our daughter and each other.
A few months later Bowen and Kara were married, and a month later we both would announce to our husbands of the babies growing in our bellies.
By then Brother Gilbert finished his move into the castle, acting as counselor and the royal scribe. Recording my family's tales in his poems and taking notes of my sisters and my abilities. A task all of us encouraged for my children and bloodline should such abilities appear in them. He does travel back to his monastery at the border of our kingdom, to share his finished works with his brother monks and add to the monastery's every growing library.
It was the month of my second daughters birth and Kara's son that Brother Gilbert returned from the monastery bringing with him a terrible prophecy:A dragon's heart could doom mankind when a two-tailed comet blazes across the night sky an ancient evil would be able to take over the lands using a dragon's heart when the comet appears. Which according to the monks was only fifteen years from today.
A great fear swept over my heart at these words. I had cruelty and evil flowing in my veins no matter how hard I tried to deny it, my sister as well. Though father assured us that that half of my blood had been burned away when we bounded to him. That fear then rested on my younger brother who at the time was barely able to control his fire breath, and learning how to glide only a few feet off the ground and only for a few seconds at a time.
Immediately we began to plan, learning what we could, and getting any rumors we could dig up of dragons and the comet. I called for soothsayers, fortunetellers, and astronomers to be my advisors. Bowen set to train an advance guard for our family with Abiagael joining them to continue her own skills. Brother Gilbert even offered sanctuary to my brother in the monastery.
"The monastery is on our border," Aurther sighed as we discussed plans, "A days ride from here at most.''
"Yes, but we have no idea what kind of evil or what form to look for," I sighed rubbing my swollen belly. All the while Gwen and Drake were playing at my feet.
"I would rather not separate the family unless absolutely necessary,'' Father added as he and Bowen played chess as we spoke.
"I agree," Bowen said as he moved a piece forward.
"But what can we do," Abiagael asked, leaning by a window, "Wait over a decade for heaven knows what evil comes for Drake!"
It was then that Brother Gilbert and my advisors came rushing into the room, gasping for breath as they called out, "Your majesties! Blessed news!"
"We've sought the runes and stars!"
"The bones and cards!"
"As well as consulting with mages from kingdoms from the Holy Lands, along the silk trades, and the far borders of the old Romain Empire!"
"What is it," I asked, now on the near edge of my seat.
"It is not certain, but we have reason to believe Lord Draco and Prince Drake are not the last of their kind," Brother Gilbert cheered in excitement making us all gasp.
"But I have seen no others," father said.
"In this land, Lord Draco," an astronomer from the Eastern Mediterranean kingdom replied as he showed us a letter from his tunic, "There are a great more in other lands though sadly those in the Eastern provinces have had a history of conflicts with a group of younger rouges that seemed to have attempted to enslave the people of that kingdom in the years of the queens grandfather."
"The cards and bones have for told of our query and how we can prepare for it," one of the fortunetellers spoke up.
"How," Aurther asked, "What have you seen."
"We know not what form the evil shall take that it will be something of neither beast nor of man, will have travelled far and seek power through a silver forked tongue."
"The stars point to the monastery, that is where Drake shall gain allies," the astronomer added
"Our query shall reside in the neighboring kingdom as it distastes such sanctity," the soothsayer nodded.
"The Hermit, The Empress, The Hierophant and either the Fool or Star shall aid us."
"Thank you, all of you," I smiled.
Aurther stood from his seat, bowing to them in my place, "You have done well for your Queen."
"So we have a plan now," Abiageal asked with a small smirk.
"We still have much to prepare for," Father said.
Brother Gilbert nodded back, "We'll have to make the hidden caves and old dungeons of the monastery livable and have to keep it secret from the general knowledge."
"Especially to the kings court and the monks," Aurther nodded.
"And we'll need men in the monastery and surrounding village to be our eyes and ears," I said as Abiageal used the discarded chess pieces to make a battle map, "And in the court as well."
"That'll take some time," Aurther said looking over the makeshift map. Bowen doing the same.
"But it can be done," he nodded, "I'll increase our men's training, so they'll be ready for a fight."
"Good," I nodded back to him, then to Brother Gilbert, "Is there anyone else in the monastery that you trust with this secret?"
"Yes," he replied, "A good friend of mine. Trustworthy and loyal. I've known him since I was a novice."
"Excellent, I hope you won't mind introducing us to him before we set out our plan."
"Of course not. I'd be honored to."
Father smiled down at Gilbert as Drake waddled over to him, mewing up to him for food.
"I'll help you with preparations," he said as he reached over to a nearby table with a plate of roasted pig, tearing a chunk from the body and softening it between his fangs before offering it to my brother who happily consumed it.
"Best we wait a month," father added, "Drake's fangs will have come in enough that tearing food will be easier for him."
"That'll give us plenty of time to ready things," Bowen nodded.
"And time for me to recover when this one is born and Gwen can travel,'' I added, smiling down at Gwen as she crawled to her father, grabbing onto his trousers as she babbled at him.
"We'll take shifts till Drake is old enough to be on his own," Abiagael nodded back as Aurther picked up his daughter.
"Can't have our queen too far from her throne," Bowen said going over to Kara, softly stroking her swollen belly, "Hope you two won't mind if I give my share of time to this task?"
"Oh sure leave me with the newborn while you get to play nanny to our Dragon prince," Kara playfully smacked his arm away, "I will be expecting you to at least bound with our son before you spend however long away from us."
"Do you doubt my honor,"Bowen gave a dramatic gasp, clenching his chest, "Such a wound from my own wife."
'And I though I was an actor," Aurther giggled at our daughter as he kissed her head, "Is uncle Bowen being dramatic, huh?"
Gwen giggled at him as she held a fistful of her father's hair as he held her. He smiled back at her, "I'm sure we can figure out a rotation plan for all of us."
Kara smiled as she grabbed Bowen tunic, pulling him down to her level so she could give him a kiss, before giving a sharp hiss, holding her stomach. Bowen kneeled further, looking concerned for her, "Kara, what is it?"
"I…think your son is coming," she replied with a nervous smile. Bowen gave an excited chuckle, looking back at us before helping her to stand. I gave a small cheer that turned to a sharp yelp as I felt a tight pain in my side as warm liquid seeped down my lap.
"Oh my," I gasped, "Seems they have planned this entrance together."
The others gave excited claps as I struggled to my feet. Aurther quickly gave Gwen to father before coming to help me stand, while Abaigeal rushed to call the midwives for us.
"We shall continue the minor details for you, your majesty," Gilbert said as we left the room. I gave a nod as we left going to our room so Kara and I could be with each other and make it simpler on the servants and midwife. That night my second daughter, Niviane, was born shortly after Kara's first son, Riagon, came into our lives.
