"I... I came here... because... after the Brotherhood disbanded... I have no one now. I needed..."

"It's alright Mortimer. I understand."

Walking along the cold metal floor of the Cerebro Room, Toad followed Professor Charles Xavier into the halls of the X-Mansion.

"Mortimer, I like you to go with Beast. He will introduce you to your classmates."

In the lush foyer Xavier stopped in from of a large, blue, cat-like mutant named Beast.

"Mortimer." greeted Beast "It is good to have you here. Come. I will take you to the yard."

Toad followed Beast through the long corridor, leaving the Professor behind. Curiously, Toad stared at the paintings on the wall and the hand painted vases on every table.

"Beautiful..." sighed Toad, pausing a moment, having second thoughts about what he was about to start.

Before Beast could reach the door leading to the school yard smoke filled the air. Everyone in the mansion ran as fast as they could when a group of individuals clad in black robes with white crosses on the front barged in and began shooting.

"No..." moaned Beast, his growing heavy.

The strangers approached the blue almost unconscious mutant and pulled him up to his feet.

"I'm sorry." were the last words Beast heard from the lips of Toad's mouth, before being dragged outside

After the group finished their work cleaning out the mansion they opted to completely annihilate it as well. One of them, with a remote in hand, pressed the button and up went the X-Mansion in smoke.

"This is the end..." spoke the words of Xavier, accepting his grim fate.

Year 2084

"What's this all about bub?"

Within the halls of an abandoned hospital, Wolverine, a former X-Man, has been captured by a group known as the Purifiers, led by the maniacal reverend, William Stryker.

"Hook him to chair." commands Stryker.

"You didn't answer my question." scowled Wolverine, feeling the clamps tightening around his wrists "What is this all about?"

"I think you know what this is about... Logan." answered Stryker with a maniacal grin "The X-Men have been a thorn in my side for years. All mutant scum protected by the higher scum."

On a nearby table Stryker picks up a syringe full of chloroform. He walks towards Wolverine and grins.

"You see Logan, I'm not entirely against mutants... I believe your powers could be used for the greater good of mankind."

"Greater good huh?" scoffed Wolverine "The only greater good you ever cared about is your own. What exactly is your endgame Stryker?"

Pressing the on button on a remote sitting on another table the television turned on, showing a paused video of a map, half the country covered in red and dollar signs in the corner.

"Do you know how much your power could be worth?" says Stryker, approaching the television "Imagine your blood in a machine built by man. Fighting off all enemy threats that dares to threaten this world. I would be hailed as hero... better yet... a god."

"That's what you're worried about? Becoming a god?"

"Isn't that the goal on everyone's mind?" questioned Stryker as he approached Wolverine with the chloroform "Being worshipped and praised by the masses... just as the X-Men were?"

"You're off your rocker bub!" growled Wolverine before Stryker injected him with the chloroform.

Wolverine, trying his best to wriggle out of the constraints, fails and ends up going into a deep slumber. Stryker, with a happy grin on his face, prepares a needle to draw blood, but as he does so he hears what sounds like an explosion coming from outside the building.

"What the hell was that?" asked Stryker.

"I don't know sir." responded one of the minions.

"Well go check it out!" Stryker commanded, sending his goons out the door and turning towards Wolverine to see that he is gone, in his place a note.

"Dear Stryker, looks like I saved yet another mutant from being used in one of your nasty experiments. Tell me, how does it feel? Hope you aren't too mad. If you are you know where to find me. Truly yours, Cable. P.S. Hope you like the gift I got you."

On the chair, underneath the note lay a bomb. Stryker sighed in defeat before the bomb went off, knocking Stryker back and blowing up the entire building.

Outside, on a hill far away from the building, Beast stood beside Cable, the one responsible for the explosion.

"What now Nathaniel?" questioned Beast "This attack... what if Jason Stryker finds out?"

"I hope Stryker Jr. does find out." says Cable.

"You of all people know what Jason is capable of."

"I know that Hank."

"This isn't going to end this war Nathaniel."

"This isn't about ending the war... this is a message."

"It's always a message. Your messages are going to get us killed."

"You know what you signed up for when you joined the team."

"True. I did. But..."

"Hank... please... trust me."

"Alright. I'll trust you... but do you truly believe that there is still hope?"

"There's always hope."
