"Hah!" Mukuro kicked Laxus in the stomach, who immediately blocked with his arms while Mercury, Zapple and Hazel all watched on.

"You ever feel like wanting an aura and a semblance?" Zapple asked.

Mukuro swiftly dodged a few swings. "If it's all the same to you- hup- I don't really need it. Frankly, I see having an aura as more of a crutch that lets you tank hits that could possibly- hah! - end up making you more reckless than you should be."

Mukuro jumped up to avoid a sweep kick and then heel kicked Laxus in the head before flipping back.

"Not to mention having a semblance would make you too reliant on it that makes you forget to use your other abilities."

Mukuro caught Laxus' fist.

"No offense to you guys who have it. It's basically an outsider's perspective." Mukuro shifted her eyes. "Which is all more surprising when you, an outsider, decided to have one yourself."

"Eh, felt like it." Zapple shrugged.

"I can understand where you're coming from." Hazel said. "No offense taken in the slightest."

"Eh, your loss." Mercury shrugged.

"You do have a point. There are those who do rely on semblances more than others, but that's when you learn to adapt and work around it." Laxus said.

"That's true." Mukuro nodded as they both slugged each other in the stomach before they took a step back.

"Way to go, you barely made me sweat."

"Heh, I haven't had this much fun since I went toe to toe with Belova." Mukuro chuckled.

"You want to call it here? We've been at it for an hour."

"Yeah, sure." Mukuro nodded as she sat down on a log while Laxus started stretching.

"By the way, have you guys heard about what happened in Solitas lately?" Mercury asked.

"You mean how Esdeath and her crew got obliterated? Yeah, that was insane." Zapple said.

"How's Emerald doing?" Hazel asked.

"She's fine, just a few scrapes and bruises, but knowing her, she's fine." Mercury said. "My old man seems to be doing fine too. It's Esdeath who's a bit upset over the whole ordeal."

"Why? First time a mission went sideways with her?" Mukuro asked.

"Nah, she's basically beating herself up for letting her motherly tendencies cloud her judgement over these Faunus super soldiers."

"Ah… so they've exploited her empathy. Jerks." Zapple shook her head. "Wonder how her boyfriend's taking it."

"I ran into him. He's relieved that Esdeath's fine but I could tell he's ready to turn this Honest guy into a shish kebob at a moment's notice." Mercury explained. "Esdeath had to get him to stand down… but mentioned he'd be an extreme last resort."

"I still don't see what Esdeath sees in Sephiroth…" Zapple said.

"Love makes you do weird things…" Laxus mumbled with Hazel nodding in agreement.

"So… Laxus, you did anything crazy back in your era?"

"Well, nothing particularly… well, there was this one moment where I wasn't in a great place. See, I was a bit too arrogant back then and looked down at everyone in the guild. Then Fairy Tail ended up getting destroyed by another guild. I wasn't around at the time but I didn't take it very well when I caught wind of it, especially when they recruited Gajeel and Juvia in the guild, the two that took part of the guild's destruction. I even threatened to take over the guild and rebuild it from the ground up where the strongest would thrive in Fairy Tail and no one would make fun of us anymore. Hell, I even planned on scorching the entire city…"

Mukuro grimaced. "Yikes…"

"It took Natsu and Gajeel to knock some sense into me." Laxus shook his head. "...Actually, there was another thing I did about once a year."

"Oh?"

"So, Salem decides to pay Magnolia a visit-"

Back in the Fairy Tail era…

BGM: Busy Street (Fairy Tail)

"Hmmm…" Makarov folded his arms, deep in thought.

"Something on your mind?" Mira asked, cleaning a glass while Cana was at the bar drinking an entire barrel.

"I can't help but feel as if something horrible is coming our way."

"You think so?"

"Must be my imagination… but there has been an uptick in Grimm activity near Magnolia." He mumbled. "Must be my paranoia kicking in."

"It's true, the Grimm have been getting uppity lately, but I don't think there's any cause for concern."

At that moment, a hooded figure walked into the guild. A few guild members spotted this individual and gave them the side eye. Something about this hooded figure felt a bit off.

The figure sat down at the bar.

"Oh? What can I get for you?" Mira asked.

The figure let out a smirk. "You're looking well, old man…"

Makarov gave her the side eye, narrowing his eyes.

"Don't think I don't know who you are."

"Your old age hasn't slowed you down…"

"No, it has not."

"Ozma/Salem."

"Salem?!" Mira said in surprise as the figure removed her hood.

BGM: Villains of a Sort (Kingdom Hearts)

"It's quite gutsy of you to waltz your way in here."

"I just wanted to see what the competition looked like."

"What, have you made a guild yourself?"

"No, I just want to see how powerful your so-called family is. You might be building an army, Ozma, but they cannot defeat me. Especially that Maiden of yours." She shifted her eyes toward Mavis who was glaring at her from a distance, while being protected by Levy, Gajeel, Jet and Droy.

"You want to see how powerful we are?!" Natsu demanded. "Well, we'll show you how powerful we REALLY are!" Natsu launched himself toward her.

"Natsu, WAIT!" Lucy yelled.

"FIRE DRAGON'S IRON-"

Salem casually put up her hand and fired a bolt of lightning without even looking, sending Natsu flying into a pillar.

"OOOF!"

"NATSU!" Happy and Lucy yelled.

"Idiot…" Gray facepalmed while Erza aimed a sword directly at Salem.

Salem smirked. "You wish to challenge me?"

"Yes. You will-"

"No." A voice said as they turned to see Laxus approaching. "I'll do it."

Salem chuckled. "Ah, the grandson…" She turned toward Makarov. "Is this the best you can do, Ozma? You're gonna let our grandson-"

Electricity crackled over Laxus' body.

"-Fight me? Don't be so absurd. There's no way that-"

In a split second, Laxus had swung a haymaker into Salem's face strong enough to send her flying through Mira's bar, creating a hole in the wall and sent her flying through Magnolia until she slammed into the forest, coming to a stop at a clearing.

Salem shook it off as a few trees fell in front of her before a massive lightning bolt crashed down in front of her.

BGM: Released Power (Fairy Tail)

"With all due respect, lady… I don't claim you as my grandmother."

Salem smirked. "Good, this will make it all the more easier to kill you."

"If only you just let the old man die once upon a time… you could have moved on and married someone else, but instead, you chose to play God."

"He rescued me from the tower, there was no way I was going to let him slip through my fingers."

"Lady, you could have chosen to escape with your magic any time. You just wanted someone to help you because you were lazy."

"Lazy, am I?" Salem narrowed her eyes as magic swirled around her. "Give me your best shot, child."

Electricity wrapped around Laxus as Salem fired dark magic at him, but in the blink of an eye, he zipped away and then slammed down on top of her, slamming her into the ground as Laxus swung down into her face a few times, but Salem grabbed his fists as they started to sizzle.

"Nnngh!" Laxus yanked away as Salem teleported away and fired a laser directly at him, but he casually blocked it with a few lightning bolts. Salem smirked and breathed out a toxic smoke from her mouth, but Laxus countered it with a Lightning Dragon Roar attack, pushing Salem away as he then lunged and threw a haymaker that sent her crashing into a cliff.

Salem slapped her hand against the cliff wall as dark tentacles came out and lunged at Laxus, but he blocked with lightning bolts, but one managed to wrap around his abdomen and with a snap of her fingers, the tentacle exploded.

Salem chuckled, only for a lightning bolt to strike her face. When she dusted herself off, the smoke cleared as Laxus emerged slightly unscathed. Salem raised an eyebrow while Laxus casually dusted off his shoulder.

"That was barely a tickle."

Salem conjured up dark energy within her hands and shot it directly toward Laxus, but he unleashed a thunder clap that sent a shockwave all around that briefly paralyzed Salem as he unleashed an uppercut to knock her into the air.

However, Salem recovered and grew Grimm wings as she unleashed a dark lightning storm of her own before conjuring a tornado.

Laxus conjured up electricity and shot up into the air to meet Salem and then delivered a strong punch. Salem blocked with her hand, but the force of the punch was enough to sent her back several feet as Laxus flipped over and heel kicked Salem straight into the tornado.

Laxus landed effortlessly on the ground while Salem changed the size of the tornado to an EF5, pulling Laxus in as a massive dark lightning bolt crashed down from above as the tornado dispersed.

End BGM

Salem let out a chuckle as Laxus was on one knee. "You do not know the sheer might of my power, boy. Concede and I may just spare your life."

"Woman…"

Laxus stood up and grabbed his shirt…

RRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPP

BGM: Dragon Force (Fairy Tail)

…And ripped it off.

"I'm just getting warmed up."

He cracked his neck as Salem smirked wickedly.

Both of them lunged at each other as Salem thrusted her hand to try and grab his face, but within a blink of an eye, Laxus had shoved a powerful lightning fist into her gut, sending her flying away.

By the time Salem recovered, Laxus was already behind her and shoved his foot into her back, sending her crashing into a tree. Salem let out a roar and unleashed powerfully dark lasers at him, but he weaved his body to avoid them, some of them grazing him.

With a snap of her fingers, an Orb of darkness shot up from underneath Laxus and consumed him, but it soon glowed yellow as it exploded in electricity before his whole body transformed into pure electric energy and launched toward her.

Salem fired orbs of Darkness at him, but Laxus was already behind her and grabbed her by the waist, hoisting her up in the air as massive lightning bolts rained down and slammed into Salem, causing her to scream before she transformed it into dark lightning and pushed Laxus away.

Salem would then fire dark lightning at him, but Laxus either zipped away or blocked it with his own lightning until in one lightning quick moment, Laxus picked her up, but this time he swung her down and thrust his knee up, breaking her spine in one fell swoop, then threw her down and proceeded to pelt her with massive lightning bolts.

Suddenly, he felt hands grabbing his ankles as Salem emerged from his own shadow and proceeded to engulf him in magic that wound normally bind a person, but Laxus managed to break free and sharply elbowed her in the face, grabbing her arm and suplexing her to the ground.

Dark tentacles shot up and bit down on Laxus's pressure points, forcing him down on his knees as Salem picked herself up and readjusted herself.

"You've got spunk. I like you." Salem smirked. "But know this, child… I cannot die."

"I know you can't. I'm just here to give you some massive humble pie that you desperately needed."

Lighting coursed through his body as the tentacles were zapped away as Laxus stood up. Salem immediately lunged at him but he grabbed both her wrists.

"And frankly, you need a double serving."

He transfered his electricity into her, attacking her pressure points as she let out a scream, falling on the ground and convulsing as the electricity wrapped around her to act as puppet strings as Laxus'a fist crackled before delivering a powerful lightning punch that carved a gigantic hole in her body, blood splattering everywhere and showing her entire spinal column completely severed in half.

Laxus unleashed another powerful punch, this time to her face as it was obliterated with a grisly bloody explosion.

Laxus took a step back, hands in his pockets as he watched Salem regenerate in front of him.

Salem let out a powerful screech that was enough to make Laxus wince as she grabbed him by the throat and had magic burn his throat, but Laxus pried her hands off of him and headbutted her, making her back up.

"Nnngh… surely by now your stamina should be wearing out."

"As far as I'm concerned, electricity doesn't need stamina. I can do this all day if I have to."

End BGM

Salem smirked. "Very well. I'll return, and our next encounter, you will not be so fortunate."

She teleported away.

"I'll be waiting."

Back in the present…

"Ever since then, we'd have a fight every so often. She got some powerful hits in and I would return fire. We were both evenly matched."

"You sure? Sounds like you were making her your bitch the first time." Zapple said.

"Heh, she just underestimated him." Mukuro smirked.

"Exactly. She went all out the next time we met, but I responded in kind. And then we kept going at it again and again. I could tell she was having fun… someone who she saw as her equal aside from the old man."

"So, it was a rivalry with utmost respect." Mercury said.

"Heh, something like that." Laxus nodded. "Both of us had a begrudging respect for one another. Then the Dragon Festival happened and well, here I am out of my time."

"Do you miss it?" Mukuro asked.

"Of course I do. But I ain't gonna let the legacy live on with me being mopey." Laxus chuckled.

"I wonder if Salem knows if you're still alive…" Hazel mused.

"I doubt it, but… I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss our fights. I wouldn't mind another rematch with her, but I doubt it'll happen anytime soon."

"But if does, you'll be ready for her?" Zapple asked.

Laxus nodded. "Damn straight."

Meanwhile…

Salem looked up at the sky. "Hmmm… I can't help but feel… reminiscent of an old sparring partner."

She let out a chuckle. "Why am I reminiscing about the past? As far as I'm concerned, that electrical pain in my ass is no more."

A sigh escaped her lips. "Still, I had some fun with his fights."

Forgot to mention this in the epilogue, but Pokemon Legends ZA is looking great! And surprisingly in the modern times. Wonder why two Johto mon and Tepig as the starters... (Also, it's been a very long time since I've played X, I forgot how freakin' TALL AZ is!)
