A new girl in town
Chapter 75
Kane
Kane wandered around the hospital grounds with a fresh cup of coffee.
What the hell am I going to do? I know even Sammy isn't sleeping. She needs to get some rest. I'll send her back to the hotel when I go back. I can manage on my own for a while. He decided.
How will I live without her if she doesn't wake up? Will she stay like this forever? I she seeing someone who is trying to take her like I did? Will she go? He wondered.
I will get my revenge on Hunter one way or another. I know he set this up. I have no doubt. How am I going to keep it together until she wakes up? Can I keep it together that long?
His thoughts were racing and he was unable to hold on to one for very long.
Sammy needs to be with Taker. He needs her like I need J.J. I'm keeping her from him. I'm being selfish. Maybe I should just send her after him, and let them be together.
He continued wandering and thinking till his coffee got cold and he finally made a decision.
Then taking a sip of coffee he realized it was cold and that he'd been gone quite a while so he headed back.
Sammy
Sammy sat holding J.J.'s hand. Her thoughts a jumble as she talked to J.J.
"Come on J.J." she said. "You have to wake up now. The doctor says your stable. Kane is going to lose it if you leave him."
"I don't know how much longer he can hang on. He's not sleeping, or eating." Sammy said. "He has to be pried away from your side. You need to wake up. He needs you to wake up. So do your friends. You have to be ok. You just have to be."
Sammy continued chatting on and on hardly taking a breath in her desire to reach her.
Police/Hunter
The lead officer knocked on Hunter's door.
"Hold on a minute." Hunter called from inside.
Hunter opened the door a minute later without a shirt.
"Can I help you officers?" he asked sounding surprised.
"Yes we'd like to ask you a few questions about Kayla Jacobs." He said.
"What about her?" Hunter said sounding suddenly aggravated.
"Can we come in?" the lead asked.
"I guess." He replied stepping back.
Once they were inside Hunter gestured for them to take a seat.
"Now what's this about Jacobs?" Hunter asked.
"It seems she and her companions were drugged last night and now she's gone." The head officer said.
"What does that have to do with me?" Hunter asked.
"Well her friends seem to think you're the most likely suspect. That you two had a problem." The officer said.
"Yeah we did. She's a bitch with a capitol B." Hunter said. "She actually accused me of getting one of her friends hurt. Of course I had nothing to do with it. Nor do I have any idea why you think I'm involved in this. I was here all night sleeping."
"Were you alone?" the officer asked
"Yes. For a change I decided to actually sleep." Hunter said.
"So you could have taken her." Another officer said.
"Why would I? I may not be able to stand her but I wouldn't bother trying to hurt her. She's not worth my time." Hunter said.
"Where were you this morning. It's almost noon. Did you go out at all?" the Sargent asked.
"No. I was asleep till you knocked on my door." Hunter said. "We had an evert last night and I was tired. Hence sleeping alone."
"Well, I guess it's pretty clear you were not involved." The Sargent said. "So we'll go and organize a search for her."
"I hope you find her." Hunter said. "I may not like her but I'd hate to have someone hurt."
The officers shook his hand and went to the door.
"One more question what would make her accuse you of hurting her friend?" the Sargent asked turning back around.
"Her friend got hurt a few days ago. It was an accident by the ring. She thought I put the person who hurt her up to it. I have no idea why she would think that. I like J.J. and have no reason to have wanted someone to hurt her." Hunter said.
"OK." He said turning and opening the door.
Ron/John/Cena
"Listen we don't have time for this." Ron said. "We need to find her. There is no telling what he's done to her."
"Well we have to follow procedure. Not only that but without a good description we don't
The guys together gave him a good description.
"Now can we start searching." Cena asked sounding exasperated.
"We'll get some more officers here and search the hotel. Where else do you think the stalker might have taken her?" He asked.
"I have no idea because we have no idea besides Hunter of who might have taken her." John said.
"Well then we have a lot of ground to cover." The officer said. "Do you have a picture of her?"
"No we told you she was burned while in the military. She's not big on pictures." Ron said.
"Wait maybe Cassie or one of them has a picture. We have to call them anyway." Cena said.
"Do you have their number?" the officer asked.
"Um no." Cena said. "But Taker will probably have it he's called them before."
"Call Taker again." John said.
Cena picked up his phone and quickly dialed the number.
He almost immediately put the phone away again.
"Still going right to voice mail." Cena said.
"Well that leaves us nowhere." The officer said. "We can't even file an official missing person's report for twenty-four hours. I was hoping to at least have a picture to show around."
"What the hell do you mean you can't file a report?" John asked raising his voice.
"She's an adult. We can't file a report for twenty-four hours. We have to assume she just left on her own till it's shown otherwise." The officer said.
"We told you she was under our protection. She wouldn't have left. Just the fact that we were drugged should be proof enough." John said.
"For all we know she drugged you. If you were drugged at all. We won't know that for sure till you give us a blood sample so we can test it." The officer said.
"Give you a blood sample!" John shouted. "I'll give you a blood sample!"
"Calm down John this isn't helping." Ron said.
"We told Taker we'd watch her. We have to find her NOW." John said.
Kayla
"Don't fucking tell me you just left! YOU actually left!" She yelled When he didn't answer her.
The silence and the darkness were beginning to get to her. She fought against the fear and panic but without a distraction, she was losing. The asshole probably knew it, wherever the hell he was. Talking to herself wouldn't help; it would only make her feel crazier than she was already.
Fuck, what do I do? She wondered desperately. How can I keep from losing it?
Before she knew what was happening, her breathing was out of control again. She tried to make herself breathe deeply but it didn't help. Her breaths came short and fast; her heartbeat pounded through her ears.
Her thoughts only served to fuel the panic. They were a jumbled, incoherent mess of terror and worry.
She wanted to curl into a ball and become as small as possible but she couldn't. She was utterly powerless.
He can't find me like this she thought. He just can't. What's he gonna do if he finds out that I've totally lost it? Oh god, what's going to happen?
Kane/Sammy
Walking back into the ICU Kane saw Sammy sitting close to J.J. and holding her hand.
"Just squeeze my hand J.J. I know you're in there." He heard her say.
"Of course she's in there." Kane said only half joking as he approached. "She just needs a little help to get back. I appreciate you talking to her."
"Of course I talk to her. I know just as well as you do that she can hear us." Sammy said.
"The doctor said she's stable." Sammy said. "I just don't understand why she won't wake up."
"She's not ready yet." Kane said. "But she will she has to."
"I know." Sammy said.
"You need to go back to the hotel and get some sleep." Kane said suddenly. "I should send you back to Taker. But I need someone who understands what's going on. Someone I can talk to besides J.J."
"How are you going to manage without me. You're going to need breaks." Sammy said. "That's why I stayed. I want to stay and help."
"You need some sleep." Kane said. "Or you won't be able to help."
"So do you," Sammy said.
"I slept yesterday. I'm ok." Kane said.
"Not nearly for long enough." Sammy said.
"It was enough." Kane said. "Go for a bit. We'll be no good for her if you don't."
Sammy nodded and got up. Kane immediately took her place and held J.J.'s hand.
Without a word Sammy left and got a cab back to the hotel hoping Taker had held their room.
She got back and showered and lay down she was almost instantly asleep.
Ron/John/Cena
"They don't want to give a blood sample." The officer said when the Sargent returned.
"You need to go to the hospital and get one done." He said. "We need to know for sure you were drugged."
"Damn it." John shouted. "We need to look for her not fuck around."
"Listen we need to follow procedure. If you want this to go more slowly then continue being uncooperative." The Sargent said.
"We want to cooperate." Cena said. "But it doesn't make any sense."
"We'll begin looking for her. You three go get your blood samples. Then you can help look." The Sargent said.
"I'll make a couple of phone calls on the way." Cena said. "Maybe if we get some of the other wrestlers involved it will get done quicker. At least they know what she looks like."
"Good idea." Ron said. "WE need to do this John."
"Fine." John said turning toward the entrance. "We'd better find you guys all over the place when we get back." He added looking at the Sargent.
They got into their vehicle and headed for the nearest hospital.
On the way Cena called Al and a few other of the guys he had numbers for. Some of them had already left for the next location. Those that were left agreed to look for her and try to get others too as well.
Taker
Getting to the next location Taker went to the desk. He checked in and headed right upstairs.
I'm so tired. I didn't even manage to get any sleep on the plane. Taker thought. Maybe I'll just lay down for a few minutes. Then I can unpack and take a shower.
Lying down he was out in no time.
Kayla
As her thoughts raced incoherently, she felt herself begin to tremble.
Oh god, the bomb. The fucking bomb! She thought frantically. I can't go through this again; I can't! Once was enough for anyone; why would he do this to me? He has to know how bad it was. He knows everything else.
As the silent minutes crept by, she started to pray. She'd never been a religious person; her parents hadn't been and hadn't tried to instill what they didn't believe in their children. But for one of the only times in her life, she prayed to a higher power that she hadn't before believed in to spare her from whatever was going to happen next.
John/Cena/Ron
Getting back from the hospital for their blood tests they walked into the hotel only to find the same few police officers questioning staff and doing a preliminary search.
"What the hell is going on?" John asked. "Where is everyone. You'd better not tell me you haven't called in more officers."
"As I said earlier we can't make this and official missing person for twenty-four hours." The Sargent said.
"That's ridicules you know what happened." Ron said. "We were drugged. That makes this a missing person right away."
"Not until your blood tests come back." The Sargent said.
"But how long will that take." Cena asked.
"A couple of hours at least. We've got people questioning the staff but no one knows anything." The Sargent said. "I also have people searching the hotel."
"We've got people searching too." John said. "But we don't have much time. We have to head out to the next event."
"Well you'll just have to trust that we'll find her then." The Sargent said.
"I don't." John said sternly. "You're not even taking this seriously at all."
"I assure you we are taking this seriously." The Sargent said.
"Not by the looks of it." John replied.
"I have an idea." Cena said. "I'm going to go look for something. You guys start looking for Kayla."
?/Kayla
As she prayed, visions of what could happen to her next began swirling through her mind.
Explosions and gun shots; pain and blood.
Then she pictured him raping her and she lost it.
Oh god, please not that. She begged silently. I can handle anything but that. He can burn me again if he wants to... just please don't let him do that.
Her breathing sped up once more, as did her shaking. She was too trapped in the midst of panic to be sure if she was crying and wouldn't have cared if she was. She just wanted this to be over.
"Have we been having fun?" she heard from behind her. She hadn't even heard the door open.
"Yeah... fun. Right," she said as her head snapped upwards.
"Looks like you were praying. Did I interrupt?" ? asked laughing.
"No. I've already gotten to the part where I wished you dead, and that was the most important bit," she said with all of the venom she could muster.
"I'm not the one likely to die." ? said. "Of course I can't say the same for you or your friends." He laughed.
"Do me a favor. Go fucking kill yourself. Preferably in a fire," she said furiously.
"No I don't think so." ? said with another laugh. "I'll be going soon to meet your friends. I hope they are more entertaining than you."
"Well, I'm sorry if this wasn't the stage extravaganza you were hoping for. But tying me up comes with limitations, you see," she said tensely.
? just laughed a loud and hearty laugh. Made creepier by the synthesized sound of it.
"We've had some fun. But unfortunately I have somewhere to be. I do hope your friends find you before you die of starvation." ? said with another laugh.
